Fumo is a great local neighborhood spot I have been to several times now. The food is uh-mazing every time I go. I love that this is right around the corner from house. The homemade pizzas are fired up in a beautiful brick oven in the back of the restaurant and they are way better than any any fast food pizza. The crust is perfection and the toppings are fresh! No lie, I'm addicted to the free bread they provide by the bucket. Their oil and vinegar blend is out of this world. I don't know why it tastes so good I can't stop eating it. It is a bit pricey here so be ready to spend a little bit more but it's worth it. I recently tried the chicken parm and it's one of my new favorites. This is great little spot for a spontaneous date night or casual dinner with friends. Call ahead and reserve a table just in case it's busy. We found this place to be refreshing and different from the normal brunch spots in Harlem. The food was amazing and exceeded my personal expectations. The staff overall were friendly and welcoming. Our server was Kevin who's communication wasn't exactly a reflection of the establishment as a whole he printed the bills incorrectly and was very rude to the group about his mistakes. Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Not much more you can ask for, and it definitely beats the competition in the area by a good margin. Only reason I did not put 5 stars is because the prices have increased (noticeably) since they've opened. I don't want to knock them for their hustle, because I'd probably do the same thing, but it definitely factors into the decision to go here as often. 99% of the staff is a joy to interact with when you go in and sit down. I recently hosted a birthday brunch for my partner here with roughly 28 people in attendance. Piero took my reservation via email and was super responsive to any questions and accommodations. The day of the brunch (June 24th) everything fell into place seamlessly. Everyone was seated quickly, and even though people showed up late no one ever made anyone feel rushed. Given that we were a large group we needed to choose for a pre-fix menu, we started with the bruschetta and rice balls which were both very tasty. The main course options were the omelette, french toast, breakfast carbonara, and margherita pizza. I had the carbonara and it was really good. From mingling around the room I had bites of the french toast and pizza and they were all scrumptious. The mimosas & bloody Mary's flowed perfectly and the overall service was wonderful. I have to say thank you to the staff for making my partner's birthday brunch a great success. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, I couldn't ask for more. Just ordered again from Fumo. It's great for pizza and additional Italian dishes when you want some variety. Oddly enough my favorite thing on the menu is the Kale Caesar. It's seriously so good. Their pies aren't huge so if ordering for two get two pies if that's all you're getting. Just had they're Buffalo Chicken pie and it was delicious. Their whole wheat pasta primavera was just so so. I live in the neighborhood and have eaten at (and ordered from) Fumo many times. It's been several weeks since I've eaten from them, so I ordered food for delivery tonight. The food took nearly an hour to arrive (I live two blocks away), which may make sense if they were busy. Unfortunately, the food was cold and they completely ignored my request for extra sauce on the side. When I called to give them the feedback and ask for a resolution, I was put on hold for over ten minutes and then told that 10% off of the order is "the best we can do." This amounted to about $2. I am beyond disappointed, not just in the food and the fact that the order was wrong, but in the response from their staff. I won't be ordering from them again anytime soon. read more

I love this place. The location is super convenient for us students. I love the decoration is very contemporary and pretty. The place has a bar and an outside area wich is great. I feel they should work a little bit on the bread. But all else is pretty good. The food came up super fast and it was super delicious. The waitress was super professional and nice. This place has an adorable atmosphere, great coffee, great service, and great food. As someone with a gluten allergy, there are tons of tasty options! I've never eaten in the restaurant but ordered food for pickup. The manager was extremely rude and cold when I came in to pick up my pizzas--which I found to be very off-putting. The margherita pizza was good but the mushroom pizza was so bland. I then ate pizza from this location when a friend ordered it at her house party. They delivered the wrong pizza and after a long wait finally brought over the correct one. There are to many good options to deal with rude staff and wrong orders. Love this place. My roommate and I frequently come here because it is only one block away from our apartment and we love the vibe. Fumo is an excellent addition to the growing number of restaurants in Hamilton Heights. Went on a Friday around 6PM and had no trouble getting a seat. It was warm enough out that the front doors/windows were wide open so we sat right by the front to take advantage of the nice weather. Waters and bread came out right away and we got our drinks shortly after. Bread was fresh and served with oil and vinegar. We had the baby artichokes to start (amazing! especially the chipotle sauce), I had the margherita pizza (fresh basil, crispy crust, perfect) and the hubs had the eggplant pasta. Everything was on point, including service, timing, and asking if we wanted another round of drinks when we got close to finishing ours (yes, obviously). We read about the Sunday night $10 pasta dinners on Yelp so decided on Fumo this past Sunday night for dinner. The restaurant was so dark though i could not read the menu without my flashlight from my cell phone. Romantic maybe, but lacking a little function for those of us over a certain age. At the restaurant I didn't see the special advertised but I asked and the server was happy to confirm that it was an existing deal for any of the pasta meals, as well as suggest his favorite the rigatoni salsiccia. I could not have been happier with this pasta dish. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sausage added flavor while the spinach added substance and the sauce was so deliciously fresh. I was also pleased with the servers suggested red wine, the Montepulciana, It was a dry Italian wine which paired perfect with pasta in a red sauce. My husband stared with the Amelia, a vodka cocktail with pureed raspberries. It was sweet and tasty but maybe a better cocktail enjoyed before or after a meal than along side food. He ordered the chicken marsala for his entree which was accompanied by grilled asparagus. The portion size was generous, but not so large to have any leftovers and he liked it fine but agreed my pasta dish was the winning choice. We also ordered garlic bread which is a $6.00 side and we thought was delicious, but typically most Italian restaurants we go to include the bread. We finished out meal with a brownie which was served warm topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce and definitely big enough to share. I definitely understand why some people on yelp don't want to rave about a spot because they don't want to risk it getting crazy and then everything about the place goes downhill but it's such a gem. Located across from City College, Fumo has its range of customers. I enjoy sitting at the bar and sitting at a table. They have gluten free options if you're on the keto diet you can always ask for substitutes. I celebrated my birthday with girlfriends (party of 7) and they were super accommodating. I also celebrated a best friend's birthday here the month prior and had such a great time.
