I love the music choice here to the point where I wish they had space to dance! Afrobeats and R&B. My only issue is the music was a bit loud, so I was struggling to hear my partner. Food was solid as well. I've had the branzino twice now and enjoyed it both times. They pair the branzino with spinach, and keep the spinach wonderfully simple. Just a bit of garlic. We got the artichoke to start. I liked this in theory, but in reality the execution needed some help. It seems they use *all* parts of the artichoke, including the chewy parts you wouldn't really choose to eat otherwise. Because it's fried sometimes you are able to eat those tougher parts without noticing, but other times you end up wondering why you're chewing for so long. The parts that were soft were good, but the overall flavor of the dish heavily relied on the chipotle sauce. Not a whole lot going on flavor-wise without the sauce. My partner got the chicken parm. She enjoyed it, but would have preferred that it wasn't sitting on top of all the pasta. I tried a bite and remember enjoying it, but also feeling like it was *heavy*. I've been to their Harlem location, but this was my first time at their new Upper East Side location. I think it opened sometime between June and July. They haven't added the Upper East Side menu to their website yet. We made reservations on Resy. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, and it was delicious!!! The sauce tasted amazing! I've had their Chicken Parm before, and it's my favorite chicken parm I've had in NYC. Someone else in our group ordered it, and they loved it as well. We got a bottle of wine, and for dessert we had a slice of cheesecake. The cheesecake wasn't listed on their menu, but we asked if they had some and they did. It was excellent as well! My only complaint is that the dining room is a little too dark after the sun goes down. You seriously can't beat the food here, and I'm excited this is here on the Upper East Side. When we got there we were seated immediately albeit at a middle table with lots of surrounding foot traffic. Would've been nice to have a better table since we had a reservation but oh well. We came here when we got back from Nashville. We were tired and didn't have food in the fridge. This place was close by and it is relatively new. It was late when we got there but there were still a few people eating. Since they were new, they hadn't gotten their liquor license yet so no alcohol (I think they got it recently though because they were announcing happy hour). We didn't get any appetizers, so for entree I got the penne funghi, which I shouldn't have gotten because it was way too much cream in it. I should've asked if they substituted the sauce. Otherwise, it was good. A got the pepperoni pizza which was very good. Crust was crispy and they didn't skimp on the pepperoni. I wanted a crème brûlée so I got one and A got the tiramisu. Their desserts are also very good and I like the little "F" logo on the tiramisu. Relatively new spot in UES that I've walked past but haven't tried until now. The Happy Hour menu & Lunch Special posting outside is what got me in through the door. I think the prices, especially HH, are very reasonable and is a great deal. For HH, there are many drink options (beer, wine, sangria, well drinks and spritz $5-11) and three food options to munch on (meatballs, fried mozz, and truffle fries $8 each). From the HH menu, we indulged on meatballs and two drinks each. As for the main, we got the vongole to share. Overall, meatballs were great - the complementary bread helped scoop up all the marinara sauce. However, I would pass on the vongole - personally thought there was an odd aftertaste. This was significantly better than the other pizza. The cheese was melty and creamy which was offset by the fresh and crisp arugula. - eggplant parmigiana (4/10): fried eggplant slices coated in vegan cheese and topped with marinara sauce. The best part of this dish was the marinara sauce. The eggplant got soggy by the time we got to eat it and the cheese was not adding much flavor or texture. WOULD I GO BACK? I thought it was overall okay a little bit too sour for my taste but the meatball size was pretty good The quantity of pasta was excessive and I ended up finishing about half of it. I did not take the leftovers. But ambiance of the place is quite nice. Very clean setup open concept bathroom was clean. The service was a little bit off. They claim they accommodate gluten free eaters but really it's more of a, you have to pay extra money for us to actually accomodate your food allergies type of place. This is the 2nd time I have had food from here. They do not offer gluten free bread for guests when dining in. You have to pay extra for that too. Picked up food and also have eaten in the restaurant. Put in an order for take out and was told to sit at the bar to wait for my food. I was sitting at the bar for 20 minutes for penne vodka. The hostess all of a sudden found my bag of food hiding in a dark room she pulled the bag out of and claimed, "oh, it was only there for 5 minutes". It shouldn't have been waiting there at all when I was sitting right next to where the hostess was standing. And no, she was not busy at this exact time, she was just standing there. I love taking home soggy cold pasta that costs $36 dollars. Yum! There's plenty of great italian restaurants in this area and Upper Manhattan. This may be convenient but it's not worth it. The food drinks and service was amazing. My least favorite item was the meatballs, but everything else was top tier. Arrived around 4pm on a Tuesday afternoon and it was fairly empty. Once 6pm hit the crowd started to come in a bit and the ambience changed to a romantic but fun feel. They started to play some r&b and main stream hits which I enjoyed and was an addition on to my experience. My only complaint was on my way out I noticed a sign stating happy hour with the listed items that were applicable. I had a mixed experience at this FUMO location. I have gone to other locations numerous times. The food was great and decor but the service was slow and unfriendly. The male staff at the bar stared at us, making us feel unwelcome. The female hostess and waitress were friendly. We had to repeatedly wave down our waiter to order additional items. Once our main entrees were ordered and we completed our meal. It felt like we were being rushed to leave as the stares continued. Getting asked if we were done with our food multiple times. This location is less busy than others, making the slow service surprising. I may return to give them another chance and update this review. Stopped in at Fumo a couple of Sunday's ago for their Sunday pasta special. Sat down and ordered a baked clam appetizer and asked if all of the pasta's were included in the special. I was told that the pasta special didn't start until 4:00 P.M. It was 3:35 but I was told it was too early. I got up to leave, saw the manager sitting at the bar, spoke to him and suggested that they put the hours on the sign outside advertising the special. He said the hours were listed. When I went outside I looked and no hours are listed. My husband and I recently got married and had our welcome dinner with our family of 20 here at Fumo UES. I worked with Luigi ahead of time (probably too early but he never complained about how type A I was) to secure the space, the menu and all of the drinks. Luigi was always so responsive and imformative and made sure the planning went so smoothly. The day of, Luigi and the servers were so great and helpful, even when we had to add some last minute things to the menu. The food was amazing and there was definitely plenty to go around. We did the family style menu which I definitely recommend for a big crowd. It was so reasonably priced for the food and drink options.
