This also came with 3 big pieces of bread that also tasted good. 3 stars Filet tips and Wild mushrooms. Main reason for the rating is the amount of meat. Mangiamo! [Downtown Vacaville CA] I wanted to take my daughter out to lunch and this was her choice. She loves pasta and she wanted to try out this Italian restaurant. It was a first for both of us. The restaurant was located in Downtown Vacaville and I was worried about not finding parking nearby. Luckily, we did find a couple of slots open. The restaurant had a nice Italian-themed decor and we were led to a cozy section towards another part of the restaurant. Nereida ("Neri") was our amazing server. Very friendly and engaging. From their lunch menu I ordered the Spaghetti with Salsiccia $22 and my daughter opted for the Prawn, Fish Tip, Clam Meat Scampi $26. I had a sample of her dish and the lemon butter sauce was tangy and very flavorful. Delicious! I really enjoyed my spaghetti! The salsiccia is the mild Italian sausage, typically made from pork and seasoned with various spices like garlic, onions, sweet peppers, tomatoes, green onion. I found FUSO's Italian Restaurant in downtown Vacaville almost 2 1/2 years ago when I first moved back to California. My apologies to Ling the Owner for not writing this sooner. Not that she needs my help or my review for her business, but I offer it gladly and with good credential behind it. 2 1/2 years as a regular there; at least once a week for the missus and I, and with good reason. This is not your ordinary Italian Restaurant and being originally from NYC, and 1st generation born Italian American, I think I can say I know my sauces. Fuso's I suspect is a fusion type restaurant. I never asked. BUT- You can get the usual Italian Fair in appetizers like fried calamari, and main courses like Eggplant or Chicken Parm; both of which are excellent and served a bit different than most places I've eaten in. Their Sauce is excellent, and besides the usual side of angel hair or pasta, you also get a nice portion of fresh vegetable Prima vera, nicely steamed. In the mood for a Poke Dish? FUSO's has it, nicely presented and plentiful. Its called an appetizer but I've had it as a meal. Seafood, salmon, pasta's with a mix of shellfish and nice sized prawns in a red or white sauce, to prime cuts of steak and filet mignons for the hearty carnivore are all here and reasonably priced. Luncheon menus from burgers to daily specials with fresh house salads, a nice wine list, beers bottled and on tap and full service bar to complement your tastes in beverages. The staff at Fuso's is top notch, friendly, great service, and if you have a special request not on the menu-just ask. If it's possible they will make it for you. As if that wasn't enough, Fuso' offers daily Happy Hour drink and food specials starting at 3:30. The best spaghetti I have had in a restaurant. I had to go and thank the chefs. I was hesitant to order it because I did not want to be disappointed. They were gracious and allowed me to taste the marinara sauce, which was delicious and sealed the deal! My friend ordered the lasagna and she absolutely loved it. I will definitley give it a try when I come back. The bread is absolutely delicious and they serve it with the butter that i love. I forget our servers names but she was fantastic! It got a little busy so she did get distracted a bit, but having been a waitress myself in the past, I completely understood. We were too full for dessert but I did take a look at the menu. Walked passed this restaurant when we're going to the Heritage House for breakfast and my daughter wanted to give it a try for dinner. Sooo glad we did because this place serves delicious food. Walked in and was greated by the sweetest waitress and was seated immediately. We sat in the back dinning room where we can see the chefs cooking. The waitress gave us great recommendations and even more recommendations for when we come back again (and yes we will definitely be back again) The complimentary bread with olive oil and eggplant puree ($1) extra was pretty good. We ordered the bacon wrapped prawns for an appetizer and it was really good with an Asian twist dipping sauce. My husband ordered the blackened chicken and shrimp fettuccine in a spicy sauce. (not too spicy) My daughter ordered the Alfredo fettuccine with brocoli and I ordered the Penne Pasta with creamy pesto and crispy chicken and for dessert we all shared a slice of Tiramasu and everything we ordered was very flavorful and delicious. The filet tip portobello mushroom ravioli is my favorite dish in the area, including out to Sonoma, Napa, Davis, and Sacramento. We went to Fuso's last night and I ordered Linguine and Clams for dinner. When my entree was served the clams were tasteless and rubbery. The pasta was good, but the clams were terrible. I asked the waitress for fresh clams, I wanted the same entree. I received the second order and the same thing. Clams were rubbery and tasteless. The manager came over to apologize and stated that they get the clams pre-packaged and partially cooked, so of course they will be overcooked. We are regular customers so when the manager came over and said she could give me 50% off I was very disappointed. I felt the whole meal should have been comped. I ordered the penne pesto pasta with chicken and really enjoyed this dish BUT the star of the show was the eggplant dipping you can order that goes amazing with the bread. Ambiance 8/10- I liked the interior, I just thought it was quite dark but not bad. Service 10/10- our server was very kind throughout our dinner. She didn't over impose and had good knowledge of the menu. Also a plus the drinks we ordered were never empty. Complimentary bread 10/10- DELICIOUS and FREE?! No complaints here :) Beef & Wild Mushroom 7/10- We ordered this appetizer medium rare but some areas were closer on the rare side that turned us off a bit but overall the dish was flavorful. We ate around the more raw parts and the mushroom and sauce enhanced the meat. My only thing is it was filling on not consistent it terms of the cook time. I likely wouldn't get it again as I could eat it as an entree with the bread alone. Chicken Parmigiana 8/10- Good, clean. This was my boyfriend's dish. I'm not a fan of chicken parm but he said he'd get it again for sure. Fettuccini Carbonara 10/10- ELITE!! Oh my goodness I thought this dish was simply delicious! I have never had mushrooms in Carbonara but I love mushrooms and it was so good! The hickory bacon and prosciutto paired so well with that madeira cream and parm! We have been coming to Fuso for almost three years now and actually had our first date here! It's so cute and eclectic inside and the staff are great. Ryan was our waiter last night (and he has been before) and he is always fantastic. I'm vegan and my boyfriend is not and we can both find dishes we enjoy. They have a large wine/mixed drink selection and many appetizers and entrees to choose from. When they are busy there can be a bit of a wait but it is worth it. I would definitely recommend stopping in at Fuso if you are visiting Downtown Vacaville and want a great meal. read more

1 star -- Slowso's: Where Special Occasions Go to Die Let me save you the mistake we made celebrating my mother's 70th birthday here. We made a reservation for a party of 9. they planted us in the bar. Loud, chaotic, and completely inappropriate for a milestone birthday dinner. Then the food. Or rather, the eventual food. Ninety minutes. We waited ninety minutes to get everyone's meals. Half the table received cold food. Two dishes arrived burnt. The bread? Dry enough that it may have been baked the day we made the reservation. When we finally flagged the manager, her genius response was, "Why didn't you tell us the food was cold?" I'm sorry -- after waiting an hour and a half, you expect us to send it back and wait again? No. We just quietly ate what we could and tried to salvage what was left of the evening. Most of us only got through a portion of our meals because the food simply wasn't good enough to finish. And here's the detail that says everything: one member of our party stopped at Jack in the Box on the way home. They reported it was a better meal. Let that marinate. Every time we asked about the delay, staff blamed being busy. That's not our problem to absorb -- that's an operations failure, and a special occasion reservation deserves better than an excuse. The manager did take money off the bill. Too little, too late for a birthday dinner that can't be redone. Don't bring anyone you love here for a special occasion. You will be disappointed. read more

The food was delicious! The bread with the olive oil is really good. The menu has quite a variety of dishes and different pasta meals. We ordered a seafood with pasta which came with shrimp, salmon, and mussels and lemon chicken piccata. The seafood pasta was delicious, very light and refreshing. As for the lemon chicken piccata, I wasn't too fond of. Though the chicken breast was fried, it was very wet probably from the fresh steamed veggies. It's more like eating soup. We stopped by here for brunch on our way to San Francisco. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I got the veggie omelette and my wife got the smoked salmon Benedict. Both came with champagne, croissants, breakfast bread, fruit, and potatoes. It was a lot of food. The scramble was perfectly seasoned. I asked for caprese relish on top which made it even better. The smoked salmon Benedict was great as well. The hollandaise was very mellow flavor wise but good. We both got cappuccinos which were more like lattes. This place is very cute. Makes you feel like you are in an Italian village. We went on a busy Friday night and were able to get a table right away. The customer service was great. We got the poke tower and it was phenomenal! Super yummy! I got the gnocchi with the cream sauce with prawns and my husband got the spaghetti special. I didn't know what gnocchi was so that's my fault that I didn't like it (I really don't like dumplings) but the sauce was amazing and the shrimp were perfect! The spaghetti was delicious! My husband and I went to this restaurant for a late lunch and we were not disappointed! Such a nice decorative place, giving the feeling of being in a actual Italian restaurant in Italy. Very spacious and inviting. The staff are all very friendly and check on you frequently. The chef cooks right where you eat in the dinning area. The food.... Was amazing! very flavorful, lots of color and a great presentation. I had Artichoke spinach ravioli with olive tapenade and pine nuts along with a roasted beet salad. My husband had the beef tips with wild mushroom ravioli. They also served fresh bread with an olive roasted eggplant dip. It's been a couple years since I've been to Fuso. In the past my friend called it the healthy Italian place. I guess because the taste is generally lighter/less oily than other Italian places (say Olive Garden). It's right in downtown Vacaville. They have plenty of seating including some outdoor patio seating. For parking I recommend parking at the library lot and walking over. We ordered a mojito, Moscow mule, bacon wrapped shrimp, the lobster ravioli, the filet tips and wild mushroom fettuccine, the affogato, and the creme brûlée. The total before tip came out to $113. Which for all that food really isn't bad. They also gave complimentary bread and butter. The drinks were on point. They tasted exactly as you'd expect. The bacon wrapped shrimp came with a garlic ginger sauce. Honestly I'd skip it next time. Only because I enjoyed the entrees a lot more. They do not skimp when it comes to the mushrooms. I got quite a few filet tips too which were cooked perfectly. The sauce that the pasta came in actually went really well with some bread. The affogato was generous and delicious. I also enjoyed the crème brûlée. You can really taste the lavender flavor in it. Service was very friendly and they tried their best and acknowledged the longer wait (after church lunch rush). Ambiance is just a touch on the fancier side but I still think it's perfectly reasonable as an everyday meal out. I noticed they advertise having a banquet hall. It was a really good meal without feeling sluggish afterwards. I ended up only finishing half the fettuccine and taking the other half home. Fuso over the Americanized chain place any day! read more

The team at Fuso Restaurant are fantastic! Worked with manager Liling to cater for my wedding on 6/8/2024. Liling was very thorough with explaining the options and process for getting all of my requested entree needs met for the wedding reception dinner. Her wait staff made themselves available during the reception dinner to assist with serving guests and answering any questions that came up which was greatly appreciated. The tri-tip and lamb were a huge hit along with chicken Alfredo and pasta incarcerata with all of our guests. All food was served with attention to detail regarding cleanliness and fresh to the taste. Our wedding was a huge success thanks to the team at Fuso Restaurant. We came in here for the special this week and it did not disappoint! They had some crazy good deal because it's restaurant week in town so a salad, main course and sweet treat was $35. I had the house salad with balsamic it was very good.. and then had the filet medallions with potatoes and veggies and then a sampler for dessert. The fillet was very good, I asked for medium rare hold the mushroom... they ended up having to bring out another plate without mushrooms but otherwise it was good. I will say my plate in comparison to the others who ordered the same thing they skimped on the veggies which I was bummed about.... But the steak was tender and delicious! The sauce was also very good. The sampler was ok the cheesecake I'm pretty sure was store bought - everyone got a little sample and I'm fairly sure I've bought the same cheesecake sample packs before. The tiramisu on the other hand was outstanding! If they didn't make it I would love to know where it was from! Lol and the lemon bar was good. Our server was friendly and attentive! Excellent experience! Six of us had dinner at Fuso over the weekend to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Taylor was our server and she was superb! She was attentive, pleasant and professional -- truly delightful! The food was very good, and the eggplant dip should come with a warning because it's so addictive! We forget that we have a decent Italian restaurant here in Vacaville. The strawberry colada was great following a nice long hike. The food, on the other hand, was so so for being as costly as the meals were - We ordered side salads, the seafood pasta and the calamari steaks. The salads were fantastic and we enjoyed the well cooked vegetables on the side of the calamari dish. The seafood itself tasted great, although the sauce was bland. One of the calamari steaks was rubbery as though it hadn't thawed long enough, and it felt as though the chef tried to cover the texture up by making a stronger lemon caper sauce. The noodles for both dishes were too al dente and cold, which was likely due to the off-timing of the service with our dishes. The bread was also cold by the time that it came out prior to dinner, and felt a little hard around the edges. The service from the lady was very nice and she gave us adequate time to order. Also, being dog-friendly is a huge plus for us. We will give this place another go sometime and hope that we have better food for the cost. read more

Fuso's food and service is always reliable and prepared with care. It's our go-to when we want an upscale bite here in Vacaville, and always have some take home from their generous plates! Kitchen is happy to accommodate special needs, and LOVE their eggplant dipping sauce that comes with bread. Pasta dishes are always significant portions and tasty. I especially love their Calamari steaks. Great dessert options, too! Some may find the decor a bit kitschy compared to a fine dining experience in a larger city, but we go for the food not the view! Last night we went to Fuso's for Valentines dinner. We had 6:45 reservations and were sat by 7pm, not bad for a holiday. That's were the okay review ends. Everything went significantly down hill from there!! The waitresses finally came to our table to ask for drinks & bring silverware about 15 minutes after we were seated. We had to ask for bread/dip at that time as it was not offered. We were able to put in our food order about 5/10min later @ 7:20-7:25pm. At that time we were given water, wine and bread. We saw the waitresses again about 30min later. She refilled out water and I ordered another glass of wine and we asked for more bread, which came about 10 minutes later, but my wine never did. At around 8:15 we waived over the waitresses and asked when we could expect our food? She confirmed she would check. A short time later at around 8:30 our meals arrived. My food was correct, but they brought the wrong dish for my husband. We didn't want to wait till they made his correct meal (who knows how long that would take) so we just shared my meal. & I still never recieved my second glass of wine. So, after being there an hour and 45 minutes with little to no service in between we quickly shared the dish I ordered and got out of there, we just wanted the whole terrible experience to be over! Fuso's is normally great- food, service, ambiance- everything. This was the second time we've gone for Valentine's day and it was a complete mess. Last time it was not AS BAD, but this time it was the worst. We will never go again on any sort of holiday. They were extremely under- prepared to accommodate as many people as who had reservations, even though the menu was limited!? I've never been there and I booked my wife's birthday lunch with the family here (about 12 of us) so I was taking a pretty big risk lol. Luckily it payed off as it's a cute restaurant with a nice menu and pretty good food! One side of the restaurant is styled like a little villa while the other side is a little different. Think styled in the late 90's but been updated through the years. The main reason we went is for the food though. We ordered a bunch of different plates and apps and everyone left full and happy! I ordered the Carbonara and it didn't disappoint. The saude was a little soupy but that's not the biggest deal for me. One of my family members ordered one of the specials which was a cream sauce with steak and mushrooms and when that came I knew I messed up. I instantly got food envy haha. We all ordered several plates of calamari, Lumpia (which was a nice touch) and their bread. Everything was delicious! They had a few large parties there that day and you can tell the staff was earning their pay. They hustled and were excellent at providing great customer service.
