Had such a fun time at this Japanese BBQ spot in Flushing! The space is really spacious with a beautiful Japanese-inspired vibe that makes it feel special as soon as you walk in. The service was very attentive and helpful throughout the meal. I loved the huge selection of meats. cooking everything yourself at the table makes it such a cool, interactive experience. The fried rice was absolutely delicious and a must-order. Overall, great atmosphere, great food, and a really fun night out. I would definitely come back!
Came to Gan Hoo for dinner as I love their meat options. First coming here, I was immediately impressed as the restaurant did not have a strong bbq smoke smell, thank god my hair and clothes will not be smelly. Then we were seated in our booth, which was so comfy! Obviously we ordered the meat stair case, extremely impressive meat selection! This came with shrimps, pork and of course many different options of beef, including wagyu! We had the leisure of cooking our meats throughout our meal. We also ordered the tofu stew and a few other menu beef options such as the marinated beef short ribs. Which was our fav ! Next time highly recommend to get the menu beef bbq dishes rather than the meat staircase. And if you write a review they give you free plum drink. Additionally to get you to keep coming back, they let you buy a $20 coupon for next time use for $2. Pretty good deal! Guess now I have to return again!
Went on a Saturday night around 9:30 pm and believe it or not people were still coming in after we sat down. Joint agreement to come to this place not knowing that it is a Michelin star rated restaurant and has been for the past couple of years right in the hear of Flushing. I apologize that is was a while ago and I honest forgot what I had to eat but I can say that I would definitely go back. Earlier review started and forgot to come back and finish.
This was my second time at this place and honestly it's pretty good. My friends and I got the lovers set because it had the most variety of different meats and every single meat hit the spot. You cook your own barbecue here which is also nice since you can cook it to your liking. The corn cheese was great with the corn being very sweet. The other two dishes I didn't really enjoy as much. I felt like the soondubu was pretty bland and the cheese corn beef was not really for me either. There is a lot of seating so it was a great place to chat and catch up with my friends without worrying about having to leave quickly. The service was also very good, they were pretty busy but were attentive when they could be helping us grab a couple of extra items that we needed. Defining a good place to check out for barbecue and still a place that I would revisit.
Not a great experience we had here. We came here for dinner with a party of four to celebrate a birthday. We were clearly there first and they sat another party that came after us and gave us an excuse saying they were outside. Ok fine since the it was only another 10 minutes wait for the next table. Our server was so absentminded. He got our order wrong and he left off part of our order. He didn't refill our water once and only picked up some empty dishes here and there. We told him we had a cake and he had a hard time finding it. He didn't even clean up our table so we can have the cake. He gave it to us still in the box and we had to set everything up ourselves. He only lit the candle and gave us a butter knife. Meanwhile the other said of the restaurant also had someone celebrating their birthday had the whole crew come out with the cake lit and they sang the song. So we were very disappointed and not satisfied with the service at all. For the food it was also mediocre. We had the meat lover staircase. The quality of the meat degrades as you go down the stairs. Only the first and second meat at the top was good. The premium brisket was very tough and not good at all. The fried rice tasted like white rice. Seafood pancake was okay.
Anyone coming into Flushing Queens for dining, rule of thumb is to always expect 15 minutes of added commute whether you're just walking down the street for 2 blocks. When in Flushing, try out the Korean bbq because of all the 5 boroughs, this is where to get quality kbbq at a good deal. Rainy day, did not want to endure an extra off Downtown Flushing walk for a quality sized kbbq restaurant that's AYCE. Gan Hoo BBQ popped up on my recommended list. Usually I'm on the fence for anything in the Downtown Flushing area because it's quick service and the food quality can be meh. This place took me by surprise and they exceeded my expectations in terms of all I look for in a kbbq spot. The selections of meats available for AYCE were phenomenal. I got the set meal this visit with 5 choices of beef and pork: galbi, Wagyu (yes you heard correctly), samgyeosal, kote beef, skirt steak, along with a basket of lettuce, bancham sides, and rice sides. Around $40 per person. Even with the AYCE option, it's around this price where you pick which types of meat if neither beef, pork, or seafood sways you. The meat quality was great where it was nicely marbled, flavor was rich in the cuts, and not marinated in shortcut manner where you would just over salt and dab with turnaround seasonings. The table next to us got a meat cut shaped cake with a candle sticking out which I thought was cool too. Anyone who isn't a mega sweet tooth but loves their proteins. Winning points was easy walk from the 7 train station, quality meats, good for easing in your wallet, and the decor inside was very traditional and minimalist. You will be responsible for cooking your bbq for those shy of grill responsibility. But all my good points above are worth it if you're looking for easy and quality kbbq. For drivers, this will be a tight place to travel to as parking in Downtown Flushing is always a challenge.
Came for AYCE lunch (on a weekend, which is great), and Gan-Hoo was very solid! It was pretty empty on a Saturday. I made a reservation online but would have been able to be seated immediately. The restaurant is nicely decorated, very large, and clean. The grills were more upscale than traditional AYCE spots. They had an array of choices for AYCE from all different cultures. As for dishes that were already made, there was cucumber salad, bibimbap, and Caesar salad, which was a fun variety. They had Coke & Sprite as their AYCE drinks as well. Meat quality was alright-- some cuts were harder than others but not too bad overall. My favorites were the flat iron and the bacon wrapped enoki. I'd come back!
We were looking for a fun family Korean bbq experience in flushing and this was a direct hit. A good time was had by all as we cooked up meat and shrimp on the bbq and added our own mix of salt, pepper and bbq seasoning. The staff is super attentive, constantly changing out the bbq and refilling water. Bigger napkins would be nice, but everything is good here and it is very lively.
Overall: Came here multiple times in the past. This is probably my favorite Korean BBQ spot in Flushing. The place is clean and there is a good variety of meat cuts and veggie options. Only con is that it can get pricey if you eat a lot like me but there is a more restricted menu for AYCE at $40 for adults. I came here in a party of 4. The only reason I did not go for the AYCE option was that AYCE didn't let me redeem a coupon for $20 off after paying $2 coming here a previous time. Everyone enjoyed the experience and left full/satisfied. Food: The food was delicious. Everything was fresh. Lettuce for wraps were clean and very vibrant appearing. There's no traditional sauce station but they provided everyone with premade sauces and spices at eat table. Did not go for anything fancy, just the standard meat lover staircase with assorted cuts of beef, pork, and shrimp. This is probably enough to satisfy 2-3 people, but I recommend getting other items along with this. The meat staircase comes with unlimited pickled veggie side dishes, including Szechuan pickled cabbage which I thought was really good especially after grilled (helped me get my money's worth). I am a KBBQ button mushroom lover (grill by putting mushroom belly up, like a bowl, and watch as the mushroom juices pool; it's ready to eat once it starts to bubble and make sure to drink the juices)! The meat staircase comes with a few mushrooms and I always order more but they are pretty pricey. Also got a bowl of cold noodles (I was not a fan but the GF liked it) and chicken feet tteokbokki (this was good 5/5). One friend had her birthday the day before so they gave us extra sliced beef on the house (see picture). Service: No complaints here. During lunch was pretty busy and we were able to get our food within a reasonable time. Waiter was proactive in changing the grill. Ambiance: Busy but no table or music was overly loud.
Gan-Hoo is a great fusion of Chinese and Korean BBQ, and this trip was a first tabletop BBQ experience for one of my friends -- she loved it! I love the flavors and the mix-and-match style of these types of places. I recommend getting a few (or a lot of) different things and sharing all of it. It's a great way to have a little of everything! We got two beef, a pork, and some vegetable options. I particularly liked the Spicy Beef -- it's got a good flavorful heat to it! -- and the Thick Cut Pork Belly. All the meats and vegetables were complemented really well by the various sauces and little side dishes that they give you. The menu was super helpful in that it gave rough cooking times for each item, so you won't overcook and ruin your meal. Gan-Hoo had delicious food and a fun lively atmosphere in a beautiful setting. This was amazing!!! I've never had Japanese BBQ until now, and it definitely impressed me! The decor of GAN-HOO BBQ is gorgeous, brilliant and wide-spaced; the ambiance is cozy and lively. It's definitely one of the trendiest restaurants in Flushing recently. They were still under soft opening and the information on the menu was limited but the staff explained it and recommended us what to order in details friendly. They also help customers grill properly if needed. We ordered GAN-HOO salad and Blueberry Yam as appetizers. The 5 plates of meat we ordered included Beef Tongue Combo, Bullish Wagyu Beef, Wagyu Beef with Black Truffle, Pork Shoulder Butt and Salted Shrimp as entrees. We also had their Cheese Corn and Fried Rice with Wagyu Beef to share with a group of four. The food was overall delicious and the quality of meat was decent with its price. Our favorites were the Beef Tongue which was grilled tender & juicy and the Cheese Corn, which was so cheesy and flavorful. However, the dessert Mochi Ice Cream was kind of disappointing. We will plan to visit again when we are eager to have BBQ. They are currently running a promotion of serving complimentary dishes and all you have to do is sharing their photos to a social media of your choice. read more
Wow - the food here is superb. The service is fantastic and it's off the beaten path off Main Street. We met some friends for dinner and the atmosphere is really nice. Definitely go to this place with a few people as there is so much meat and so much more fun to enjoy it with friends. We would have never gone to this place for just the two of us. Fun Chinese-style bbq with efficient service and cute decor. We ordered the meat lover's stair combo this time because the presentation looked great. After eating here a couple of times we may go with just ordering two orders of good beef in the future instead of the stairs combo as we like more of a good cut of just beef vs. sampling a variety of beef and pork, shrimp etc. All were good, just a preference. Miso-garlic eggplant appetizer was very tasty but VERY powerful with garlic flavor so be prepared! The mushroom side order was not as we expected and was a bit tough. Make sure to order the regular mushrooms vs. this type. We may have picked the wrong one this time. read more

One of my favorite Asian BBQ's in NYC. The most important thing is the quality of the meat when it comes to bbq. Came here for dinner on thanksgiving day, open and working regular hours which was a plus. Big restaurant, friendly staff, great service, good space between tables, great menu options. Rice w/ Wagyu was slender (classic flavor and taste). Beef quality was very good! Must try for yourself. I just wish I knew how to order better since it was my first time. I would rate this restaurant 3.5 stars but between 3 or 4 stars, I'd choose 3 because the ambience and service doesn't justify the quality and taste of the food. The food isn't bad and I think their presentation is appealing but the quality of the meats taste like ayce meat and not a la carte quality. I came twice before and it is popular amongst my friends for the variety they offer, but I think the food is mediocre. read more

I had a fun birthday here. They have drinks like Big Bang it's a mix of soju, beer and grapefruit. I got the staircase which I think is worth and the beef combo. The staircase give you a different types of meat such as pork, beef and seafood. I recommend coming for birthdays because they sing to you and give you a meat cake from them. For a party of four, it was more than enough food. We also ordered a mushroom platter (not pictured). Food quality was amazing. I've been to numerous all-you-can-eat bbqs and this is definitely worth the price. Each cut was so beefy and tender. I also appreciate the serving sizes per different cut. It's a nice tasting platter. The stairs combo does come with pork, lamb, and a bit of seafood. 10/10 The waiters are pretty attentive as well. Honestly thought this was one of the best bbq places in nyc until tonight. Beforehand, they used to give a huge portion of food. I can tell that portion sizes have decreased from everything ordered tonight. Quality is still amazing but do not expect to get full! read more

This place is pretty good. I went with some family and have a reservation through Google (Minitable). But you can also make one with Yelp. Parking sucks like usual because you're driving in Flushing zzz but it's not anusy The v&c (vibe and chibe): 5/5. Really nice interior, individual booths where you aren't sitting on the other table. Overall, creates a great dining experience and would be a nice place to take a date. Food: 4/5. I enjoyed the food. Garlic Oysters: 5/5 get this one Garlic Scallops: 4/5 guzzling Scallion Pancakes: 3/5 eh this one is okay, I feel like if you're craving it, sure Seafood Tofu Soup: 3/5 didn't cake my pants, it's meh Kimchi Fried Rice: 3/5 it's not that spicy, more sweet than anything Meat Ladder thing: 5/5 some good thick meatys, straight guzzlying Price: pricy lawl, we didn't even order that much meat and if you wanted more meat, you'd be paying $60-$70 a person. Came here for a birthday and had a really good experience! We ordered the beef combo, a side of pork jowl, seafood pancake, cheese corn, and the wagyu fried rice for 4 people. It was reasonably priced for the quality of meat you get here! The marbling on the beef was beautiful and everything tasted good. We did order a cheese corn but we didn't really like it because the cheese got hard very quickly. I highly recommend getting the wagyu rice and the seafood pancake as a side as it'll help cut some of the fat from eating only meat. Also if you come here on your birthday they also give a complimentary meat cake with valid ID! read more

Excellent experience. We are a seasoned KBBQ group so we knew what to expect but since it was the first time dining here we acted like newbies. The staff was super attentive. Made sure we didn't burn our meat. A cute cutting board in the shape of a cow showed us where on the cow the cuts were coming from. The side dishes all fresh and very tasty, especially their bean sprout salad....we asked for more so may times we lost count. Very good food & excellent experience. read more
Fine Korean BBQ served with a minor Chinese twist. Everything you expect with Korean BBQ and more. The Wagyu and short rib cuts were my favorite. Definitely get the bullish wagyu and short rib platter. Super tender melt in your mouth pieces of beef coupled with some Chinese sauces and seasonings to change things up from your traditional KBBQ. A shocker to everyone as the table was the kimchi fried rice, not much kimchi flavor but it was some of the best fried rice I've had in a long time. Also you don't leave smelling like beef and smoke. Just that alone should be enough to bring anyone in for some BBQ. I can't wait to come back. read more
Delicious BBQ place. I came to celebrate my sister's birthday and this place did not disappoint us. When we came around 2pm, there were plenty of seats. They asked for the vaccination cards and led us to a table. We ordered the meat lover's staircase, bullish wagyu and the kingdom wagyu. The bullish wagyu was very tender and melt in your mouth. The meat lover's stair was pleasant to look at, but overall we thought it wasn't worth the money. The kingdom wagyu was a great platter of different cuts of beef which we liked. I absolutely love this place! Great ambiance, food, and service. Super accommodating too. We celebrated my sister's birthday here, and they went above and beyond--kept our cake refrigerated, brought out a 'meat birthday cake,' and even sang for us! We had an amazing time. Thank you for the unforgettable memories We'll definitely be back! Oh and one more thing you have to try their Wagyu fried rice it's to die for! read more
3.5/5 stars This restaurant was so beautiful and had a lot of culture. However, their food fell short. It is definitely more of a Chinese bbq spot than a Korean bbq. In terms of service, I wish there would have been more help from the wait staff about when how to long to cook each meat. They did replace our grill plate very often. I came with a party of 4 on a Friday night and was seated right away. We made it just before the entire restaurant filled up ~7pm. They started us off with some ban chan - seasoned bean sprouts, marinated beef slices and cabbage. We ordered the meat lover staircase because it seemed to be everyone's favorite. It was a great way to sample all of the meats and order more of your favorite later on. There was an assortment or pork, beef, seafood and vegetables. All of the different cuts of beef were chewy/tough. The pork was tender. Most of the meats aren't marinated so we used their dips. It comes with three dips, a cumin-y powder, a sweeter dip and a more savory one. We re-ordered the snowflake beef and the beef ribs. These two were the most tender out of the ones we tried and they were marinated. The snowflake beef is more on the savory side and the beef ribs were more sweet. Also tried their wagyu fried rice and cold noodles. The rice was more of a sticky rice than regular fried rice. The bits of wagyu were tough but the flavor of the dish was really good. The cold noodles were refreshing. I liked these two dishes better than the kbbq itself. read more
My honest opinion based on my experience is that this place is overhyped and not worth the visit. The service wasn't great, the food quality was ok but the taste wasn't there. I would rather go to Gyu-kaku a couple blocks away and eat Japanese AYCE meat for the same price. We paid $40/pp and we were still hungry after. I came here with a party of 4. We made the reservation earlier in the day and there were open reservations. The service was great. The waiter helped us with some recommendations. Standard pricing scheme is a la carte and set items. There is an AYCE option in the afternoon for $40 per adult.
Are reservations required?
Usually reservation are not required but weekends and holidays get crowded and it’s better to have reservation.
Does the dishes come with ban Chan, and rice? Do they charge for getting extra lettuce? Most of the places I go for k bbq don't charge for extra banchan, rice or lettuce.
It comes with ban chan but just like 2 and it's not the ones we get at Korean places. Yes lettuce is extra and I believe so is rice.
Is this place wheel accesible?
To enter the restaurants there are couple of steps. I did not notice a ramp

Since it is Chinese fusion bbq does this place have banchan? Good kimchi?
No kimchi and the ban Chan we got was this cold meat dish, radish and that's pretty much it

Yes, it's definitely a fusion place that's more of a Chinese interpretation of K-BBQ rather than authentic, traditional K-BBQ.
