The ambience is very modern. We were a group of 4 and went on a Friday night around 7:10ish and the wait time was about an hour. Our table was ready after roughly 50 minutes, but when we walked in, the place smelled strongly of fish, which was a huge turn off for me. I ordered the chicken northern curry soup, which was pretty underwhelming the noodles tasted like instant noodles. We also ordered spring rolls for the table, but they were very bland. The server came across a bit judgmental when we requested one of the curry with rice and not the noodles and didn't provide chopsticks with our noodle soup, which was disappointing. This was my second time trying to get a meal at Gao Lhao and we finally succeeded! The hype is no joke; even on a weekday night there is a long line out the door. The trick is to put yourself on the waitlist but hang out around the bar area. If there is an opening at the bar, you can seat yourself! This is probably the best way to get a spot if you're dining solo, since there are tons of solo bar spots. We got the Bha Hang Mee (w/ crab and pork belly) and the XO Noodles. Even though both dishes were pretty noodle heavy, the tastes were completely different. I felt like all the ingredients were very fresh, especially the seafood. I liked the pork belly in the Bha Hang Mee the most, it was so crispy and flavorful. I also enjoyed the poached egg as well. For dessert, we got the Bua Loy Nam Khing - glutinous rice balls filled w sesame, served in a gingko tea. This was fabulous. I am used to having tangyuan (the Chinese version of the rice balls), so I wasn't sure what to expect. I think the sesame paste here is homemade and so it feels stronger than a store-bought tangyuan. The gingko tea is nice and warm to go along with the rice balls; a little strong on the ginger but I didn't mind. I LOVED this dessert - and the presentation just made it better. Gao Lhao has been on my radar screen since early August. I had the opportunity to give it a try earlier this month with fellow Yelp Elite All Star, Carol C (10/11/25). Gao Lhao is a vibrant Thai - Chinese spot in Seattle's Green Lake neighborhood, same complex where the PCC is located. Experienced staff at this restaurant/bar spot, since they are owned by the same folks from Kin Len Thai Night Bites (Fremont) and Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen (Lynnwood, Kirkland, and Seattle in Ravenna & Queen Anne). We tag team drove from Edmonds via I-5. Carol found street parking, I ended up in the underground parking garage shared with PCC and other retail sites. Note: Gao Lhao does not validate. Unless you bought something at PCC, you pay at the kiosk upon exiting. For a little over 2 hours, I paid under $9. Our visit was on a Saturday afternoon, no reservations, and had a brief wait before being seated. This gave me the opportunity to admire the nice interior from the front dining area and surrounding seating proximate to the bar. We had fairly attentive, unobtrusive service during the two hours we were there. We ended up ordering the following: *Crispy Duck Spring Rolls ($14) Roasted duck with cabbage, carrot, sweet corn, scallion with hoisin and sweet plum dipping sauces. Definitely crisp and flavorful. *Braised Duck Noodles ($20) Duck quarters (drumstick & thigh), yu choy, and egg noodles. Lucked out with two succulent quarters, generous veg & noodles! *Iconic Yaowarat Street Curry ($19.50) Rich curry paste with sliced beef, Chinese sausage, winter melon, and soft boiled egg. Served with steamed rice. Went here for a quick dinner around 5pm. Thankfully this place has an underground parking (90 mins free from purchase from PCC) or else you're not gonna find parking anywhere in Greenlake. Place is a really vibrant and clean place and was greeted by the waitress. The service was great as the staff was accommodating and checked in on me, offering to merge another table as my small table couldn't fit all the dishes. Searched for a new-to-us restaurant on Google on a recent Friday afternoon and decided to pop into Gao Lhao based solely on the reviews. Given the day and time, we expected a wait but were seated right away. We ordered the Fish Sauce Wings and Crispy Wontons for starters, then finished by sharing a bowl of the Mama Tom Yum. The Fish Sauce Wings were a revelation -- I never thought fish flavor on chicken would taste good, let alone amazing. We loved the wontons, but the Mama Tom Yum stole the show. Gao Lhao is a hot new Thai restaurant in Green Lake. Their food is a mix of Thai and Chinese fusion. I've seen a lot of trending videos of their hot pot, so I had to try their tom yum hot pot. It was delicious! We got the seafood option, which had a nice variety, and the noodles were the classic Thai Mama noodles, if you know, you know. We also got appetizers. Their duck egg rolls were delicious with tender meat, but the chicken wrapped in pandan leaf was not impressive. The chicken had a weird texture, and the flavor wasn't great. This restaurant is so aesthetic. I love the effort put into the decor. The server recommended anything with duck so we had to get one of the duck dishes. Me and my friend decided to split a tom yum moo and the roasted duck with spinach noodles. We had gotten there basically when doors opened on a Monday so it was pretty empty when we entered. They ended up needing to deliver the dishes at different times which we believe is due to the timing. The tom yum moo did feel like they made a typically tom yum into a noodle soup. It was pretty good and a familiar flavor. The crispy pork in this was interesting. It's very crispy even when in the soup but whatever they did to create that texture did affect the mouth feel. It was stickier than expected and not necessarily a nice way. I did like this dish but if you tend to lean less saltier foods like my friend, the noodles don't remove the urge for noodles. The roasted duck with spinach noodles was good but a bit unfamiliar. I couldn't quite place the taste. It wasn't familiar to me, not in a bad way just new to me. The duck was solid. I don't think spinach noodles really added much to this dish so if I were to try another bowl, I might just go for egg noodles. One of many places I've had for a long time on my list, this restaurant is in the Green Lake neighborhood, which is hard to find parking in especially on weekends. This was on a Friday night around 7pm, and what's worse is that you may even be quoted an hour wait time for bar seating despite coming alone, which I ended up doing. But people did leave bar seating much faster, so I snagged a spot as soon as I saw an opening and groups that didn't also rush over. For this place being a bar-like setting, it's not that loud, and there's a ton of nice and dim lighting inside, including the Chinese equivalent of the name of this place, 高楼 (literally "tall buildings") and pronounced similarly. Even the bright underside table lights were very dim and gave a high-class bar feel. You might need your phone flashlight to look at the menu in some spots. I got their bha mee hang bowl which has crispy pork belly, pork wontons, BBQ pork and an onsen egg all in a bed of dry egg noodles. Overall dish was filling, delicious and homely. Garlic taste was very strong throughout the whole dish but it never detracted from any of the well-flavored meats. Crispy pork belly was my most favorite as the outer part was indeed crispy and the meat was tender. Pork wontons were relatively small and were almost unnoticeable, but tasted pretty good. BBQ pork was sweet and tender. Best of all, this dish came out in less than 5 minutes of ordering, with every ingredient being hot and fresh. Most other items were on the pricer side so I was slightly deterred from getting anything else though on a future visit I'd get their crab rangoon pockets as an appetizer, sangkhaya bai toey (pandan custard) as dessert and a chrysanthemum slush as a drink. I've been excited about trying Gao Lhao ever since I found out it was opened by the same people behind Kin Len. I expected beautiful ambiance and amazing food, and Gao Lhao definitely delivered! We came right at the start of happy hour and the restaurant was already bustling. They use Yelp waitlist, so you can put your name down and stroll around the surrounding area. We waited maybe 10 minutes before we were seated. Walking through the restaurant, I appreciated the neon signs on the walls, vintage art, and aesthetic seating that give this restaurant its unique flair. The happy hour deals are amazing, and they have many appetizer options and drinks on their HH menu. We ordered a TON despite being a party of two, and I am glad I got to try so many items! Food came out very quickly as well, my thoughts are below. Chrysanthemum slushy (HH): This was so smooth, you could hardly taste the alcohol. The texture of the ice was satisfying, but it honestly gave teeny-tiny pebble ice more than slushy texture. Though I am not the biggest fan of chrysanthemum tea, this was super refreshing to sip between rich and flavorful bites of food, like a palate cleanser! Fish sauce chicken wings (HH): These were SCRUMPTIOUS. The meat was super tender and the sauce was sweet, savory, and super umami. I loved the caramelized edges and how the sticky sauce coated the crisp skin. All of the wings were flats, in case you are a fellow drum lover like me. Calamari and Salted yolk salad (HH): This was the absolute winner for my friend and I. All the veggies were crisp and clean, and there was a generous portion of crispy, tender calamari, but the star of the show was the dressing! The creamy sauce had crumbled, earthy, mealy bits of salted duck yolk throughout, and the flavor combo was something I have never tasted before. If I manage to replicate this dressing at home I may enter my salad girl era. I actually could not relinquish my fork until this salad was DECIMATED. Crab curry noodle wrap: This was another stunning dish that combined flavors I had never thought to put together before. The curry sauce was a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, creamy goodness, and the crab claw option comes with three plump, tender crab claws. You definitely aren't getting a ton of crab in each wrap but a little does go a long way to complete the bites. You dip the vermicelli in the curry sauce, then pile a leaf (idk what it was) high with the saucy noodles, a piece of flaky crab meat, some fresh pineapple, cucumber, mint, and pickled mustard greens. Put a spoonful of curry sauce on top for good measure. The flavors unfolded beautifully as I chewed through my wrap. First the creamy curry, then the bright, sharp, sour, salty notes of the other toppings. This dish would not be complete without any one of the sides. Sukhothai tom yum noodles: I have had stupendous tom yum noodles at other restaurants before and my standards are quite high. While Gao Lhao's rendition is by no means bad, there were a few things that keep it from taking the top spot in my ranking. Namely, the BBQ pork topping felt a bit like an afterthought. While there were many pieces, it was dry and tough. I did enjoy the sweetness from the long bean, but I think it could have benefited from a bit more acid in the broth. We opted for the egg noodles and they were perfectly springy. The portion was absolutely massive! Creamy galangal coconut hot pot: Everyone talks about the seafood hot pot, but this coconut chicken soup is a flavor explosion that is so, so unique yet drinkable. It is almost hilariously simple at first glance, just some mushrooms and chicken breast sliced against the grain, stewed in a coconut broth with some glistening spots of oil on top. However, the galangal-forward, savory chicken broth is the perfect sipping soup for Seattle's perennially cold and rainy weather. The soup is thin and not overpoweringly creamy. The coconut gives the soup a luxurious richness without making it taste like straight coconut milk. The chicken was just a tad tough, but given that we had neglected this dish in favor of the other four on our two-person table, it is honestly not that surprising. While this is on the pricier side for a Thai restaurant, you are getting great portions and unique, delicious food that you get to enjoy in a gorgeous ambiance. We came on a Friday night and were quoted a wait time of 45 minutes, which came to be pretty accurate. There is quite a bit of seating inside, but it was still super busy. When we were seated, we had a nice booth style table near the front. We all decided to order the bha mee hang with the wontons, crispy pork belly, and bbq pork. It was such a generous portion, and the flavor was delicious! Super savory, sweet, and umami and they gave plenty of veggies and meat. Everything was seasoned super well and the texture was great, though I did think the pork belly could have been a tad crispier. They have happy hour options which are always a plus. I tried almost all of the options on the happy hour menu and would come back to try some of the other entrees. Crispy Pork Wontons (3.5/5) These were okay to me, I found that there wasn't too much filing in these but if you're looking to much on crispy wonton skins then this is your dish. Calamari and Salted Egg Salad (4/5) This salad was good, the dressing was nice but nothing too amazing, the salted egg in this dish is sprinkled on top of the salad but I wish it was more incorporated with the dressing instead of just a topping. Still a good option for additional veggies. Soybean Marinated Sliced Pork(4/5) This was marinated with soybean paste and had a slurry sauce with it. The pork was cooked really nice and still tender. New Thai restaurant that recently opened. The aesthetics, the hospitality, and food was such an enjoyable experience! I wished we had the stomach to try everything. We arrived after lunch and before dinner, so there was no wait at all and all the servers were attentive. Be sure to check out their happy hour menu, I barely got a glanced at it but our waitress was kind enough to let us know that the calamari we ordered is part of HH, We ordered : Calamari - big bite sizes, breaded nicely, however not the best and I could probably skip this. It came with the sweet chili sauce Beef shank stew - this was delicious! soup was flavorful and light, they definitely do not skip out on the protein here. There were plenty of tendon, meatballs, and sliced meat. Bha Mee Hang Bowl - specifically onsen egg, crispy pork belly, bbq and wontons. All the toppings were well made on top of egg noodles. This is delicious however it was lacking a bit of flavors to my likings but overall a great dish Overall: this is a great spot wished I lived closer to it though but if I'm in the area I'll definitely be coming back. Cute spot with good vibes and fresh ingredients. We tried the boat noodle (definitely the highlight for us, which was flavorful and comforting), the XO soft shell crab salad (just okay, didn't feel super authentic), and the smokey chicken curry noodles (a bit experimental and not our favorite). Trendy restaurant in the greenlake area, expect a ~40min waitlist during dinner time. Servers were very nice, and food portions are generous. I thought the food was maybe a little overhyped. Bha mee hang was sweeter than I expected, but there are sauces and chili flakes on the table for more flavor. Dish also comes with crispy pork, bbq pork and a very thin noodle. My friend got the Tom Yum, I had a quick taste and it was good. Not too spicy. read more

Last time I ordered by just looking at the menu, and honestly, it wasn't great. This time I decided to ask the server for recommendations -- and everything we got was delicious! The steak garlic rice was rich, nutty, and juicy -- absolutely amazing. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out closer to medium -- still, it was really good. The spring rolls weren't what I expected, but the more I ate them, the more I liked them -- light, crispy, and perfect with beer. The Mama Tom Yum soup was spicy, flavorful, and full-bodied. We ordered it with pork, and it wasn't greasy at all -- just deeply satisfying. The ramen noodles in it were such a nice touch. Love this spot! Easy located in green lake and parking located in the garage. Pricing is actually really reasonable for Seattle (not paying $25 for a single plate of noodles) my curry noodles were $16. Happy hour has great appetizer and beverage choices. I recommend coming for an early dinner, there was no wait for us at 5p on a Sunday. Service was great and the food came out quick! read more

Came here with a friend yesterday for lunch and ordered a bha mee hang bowl, phad ka prao, and fish sauce wings. The prices were pretty reasonable (and the phad ka prao included rice with the meat!!), delicious, and beautifully presented. Service was also quick and friendly, and the restaurant is a lot bigger inside than it looks! I also loved the decor and interior design, and felt very satisfied with the quality of the meal. Overall, this restaurant impressed me with the fast wait time, good price/food proportion, and wonderful service. I look forward to coming back when I'm in the area! read more
