UPDATE: With crawfish season in full swing, we decided to revisit Pop's Crawfish and were reminded why we keep coming back. We checked out both of their locations -- the setup at Rock House Bar and the food truck/trailer park, plus the location at All Good in Cedar Park -- and had a great experience at both. The crawfish was really tasty, well-seasoned without being overly spicy, and a great value for the price. We happened to be at the Rock House location during the Kentucky Derby and got to participate in the Crawfish Derby event, which made for a really fun day. Even better, the proceeds went to a great cause. You can tell this is a friendly, family-run operation that genuinely cares about the community and the customer experience. Alright, I wasn't gonna say nothing, but let me put y'all on game real quick: Pop's Crawfish in Austin is that spot. Been holding this gem close since 2022, but it's time I share -- because Ms. Wiley and her family? They don't just serve crawfish; they serve love on a platter. From day one, they've treated me like blood. Not that fake smile, fake hug type of family -- I'm talking "grab a chair and eat" type family. Now let's get into it. The crawfish? Slaps. FLAVOR. ALL. THE. WAY. THROUGH. They don't just boil these little mudbugs and hope for the best -- nah, they baptize them in flavor. Comes out at a level 5 spice, which is cute and just enough to let you know it's real. But me? Sometimes I'm feeling dangerous. I ask for a little to-go container of extra seasoning to sprinkle on when I get home. And no, don't get it twisted -- this ain't that dry, dusty crawfish shake nonsense y'all love to hate. I sprinkle smart, let it soak, and by the time I'm done? I'm sweating happy tears. You can taste the oranges and lemons in that boil too. Baby, when I say it makes you close your eyes and rock back in your seat? Yeah -- you know that kind of good. Don't act brand new. They've got seating outside on the patio too, and sometimes they'll even have a live band out there, which just takes the whole vibe up a notch. Now me? I'm not about that "bake in the sun" life. Me and the sun don't get along like that. So I post up inside The Rock Bar -- cool AC, good drink, crawfish in hand. Perfect combo. They're open Friday through Sunday, and I'm gonna tell you straight: get there early. They will sell out. I don't want to hear no "I was on my way" stories -- crawfish don't wait. And when you do go? Tell them I sent you. That's your fast pass into the family. I'm not there every weekend like I used to (I stay on the road with my daughter), but best believe -- when I'm in town? awesome crawfish food truck. a lot of seating around even indoor if weather is not good. a playground nearby for the kids and it's also pet friendly. the staffs are super friendly , they came over to check on us many times to make sure we got everything we need. I got the Bayou special which comes with 2lbs crawfish , one corn and one potato. it's crawfish season so the crawfish are big and fresh, i got the 8/10 spicy , it got some kicks but not burning. at the end of the meal my lips are definitely on fire. the crawfish is very flavorful but a bit on the salty side. read more

FINALLY found it!!! Yay! THE BEST CRAWFISH in Austin! No longer need to make the trek up to Big D to get my snobby mudbug fix. And, of course in Austin they're from a food truck. :) Cooked and spiced perfectly and the best customer service. The staff were very happy to delivery to our car for no contact pickup during Covid-19. Crawfish season is of course over; however, as soon as it hits next year you can bet I'll be the first in line! BEST crawfish in ATX! They get fresh, quality crawfish from south Louisiana delivered each morning. Pop's crew cleans them exceptionally well and cooks them to perfection. They've branded their own seasoning that is delicious and they can increase the spice level if you're feeling it. The owners are wonderful people and super friendly!! Friendly family run business. A private lesson for crawfish newbie's, excellent service. We split a "Bayou" special. $20.75 for 2 lbs and one new potato and one small ear of corn. Full bar service in an adjacent building. Local beer and reasonably priced drinks. Nice water bar, self service. All tasty, good beer and fun vibe. My only recommendation would be, for a meal for 2, throw in a couple ears of corn and a couple potatoes. Very slight food cost to make it a better, filling meal for 2. Great, fun spot. Great crawfish!! Best we've had in Austin- so excited it's close to our house! They were a good size and had wonderful flavor. We got 5 pounds of 8/10 spicy and agreed it was a little too spicy for us. Prices are a bit expensive, but that's all crawfish this year, unfortunately. Can't wait to go back! read more

5/10. Tasted like it was just boiled. The corn was sweet but we got one that was bad. The potato's were just plain no seasoning. We got butter no lemons. It tasted like some of them had a little juice and some were dry like from two different batches. Saw really good reviews so was super excited. read more

Hands down the best crawfish in ATX. Huge mud bugs, perfect spice, great price (the more you buy, the cheaper they are), quick and friendly service, amazing experience. Best crawfish in Austin, hands down. Spice can be adjusted (we like 8/10), but every level is super flavorful. Sausage is decent, and the corn is fantastic. Potatoes are a bit bland, but that's easily addressed by the sauces they offer. read more

Oh my crawfish!!! Hands down the BEST crawfish in ATX. I have tried many places since moving from New Orleans and thought I found a local favorite years ago until I tried Pops! It was so addictingly delicious that I devoured 6 pounds by myself! The atmosphere is great as well with it being outside of a bar; plenty of tables, cocktails and nothing but good vibes. Another great addition to the food trucks at Rock House Bar. Walked up to the truck to check out the menu and was greeted by two very friendly ladies inside the truck. ATMOSPHERE: It's located in the little food truck park surrounding Rock House Bar. I love going here because it's a pretty cool vibe in an unsuspecting spot on 620. You can eat your food inside the bar, sit out on the patio, or enjoy the weather by sitting at one of the picnic tables dispersed around the side/back of the bar. PARKING: You can park in one of the spots in front of Rock House Bar (there aren't many), or along the little road that leads to the location that runs parallel to 620. I've never had an issue here. SERVICE: ‍‍ As I mentioned, when I walked up to the truck the ladies inside greeted me with friendly hellos. The lady I gave my order to informed me how long it would take (she said around 3 minutes), and that they would bring my food to our picnic table when it was ready. While we were waiting, they brought over a roll of paper towels and a bucket to dispose of the shells. It actually took 7-8 minutes to get our food, but it was fresh and piping hot! As we got up to leave, we were going to take the bag with the shells to the trash can, but one of the men working there said he would take it for us! FOOD: ‍ I ordered the Pop's Special, which is 2# of crawfish with corn & potato. It was the perfect amount of food for one person. I can eat 3# easy, but this was the perfect amount for me this particular day. I ordered extra corn & potato since my companion wanted to snack on those. Ended up with 2 corn and 3 potatoes. They have several dipping sauces to choose from. I went with Pop's Special sauce, which is mayo-based, peppery, and slightly sweet. It reminded me of a sauce I've had a few places in Louisiana so I really enjoyed it. The crawfish itself was pretty good. Not the best I've had, but I've eaten a lot of crawfish throughout Louisiana. It had a very slight kick to it, but they do give you the option to order extra spicy, which is what I'll probably do next time for a little more flavor. It was cooked very well. The shells peeled off very easily and the meat was the perfect texture, moist and not rubbery. SUMMARY: I will definitely go here again, especially to try it extra spicy. They also offer boiled shrimp which I really want to try. read more

Had crawfish, shrimp and brussels sprouts today. I ordered extra spicy crawfish. Not quite to my spice level but they were tasty. I prefer a spice level that makes most cry for their mamas and these weren't it but that's ok. The meat was soft and a bit hard to remove from the shells. They could probably have used an extra minute in the boil but they were FRESH. The shrimp...did not impress me, I'm sad to say. Same with the brussels sprouts but all in all, my meal was a delicious treat and I will probably be back for more in the future! (If you order the extra spicy, wear gloves while eating. Your mouth can handle the spice but your hands cannot. lol ) read more

This place had some of the best crawfish I've had in Austin. Crawfish was cooked perfectly every one came out perfectly tender and not one had poop still in it... Somehow. It was also seasoned perfectly! We got the extra spicy and it was good. So good. The food did not take long and the people working there were super nice. Brought our crawfish to us inside the bar we were waiting inside. Apparently people actually eat it in there a lot. We took ours outside :) They came by to check on us a few times while we ate like waiters kind of. Very unique location somewhat near the lake. They have a volleyball court out there and tetherball. And some picnic tables with some trees for shade thankfully There was also some shaved ice place next door. The bar the food truck is parked behind is like a hidden gem. It's like a nice cabin with some couches I think and a nice bar and tvs. They had a couple good craft beers on tap too. Definitely will be going back next crawfish season! read more

A bit of a drive but worth it. The crawfish were cooked just right, not overcooked and easy to eat. Spice was good base level that was easy to kick up a notch. Appear to be cooked in small enough batches that all is fresh. Good food, friendly service. This is a food truck adjacent to a bar so all the bases were covered. If you like crawfish, these are some of the best I have had in Austin. read more

Located Behind and to the right of the Rock House Bar....RHB will serve you all the beverages you can drink. Adult and otherwise. These guys soak their bugs so the tails are not only easy to peel - but taste so much better than others. Spiced to order by the pound. Potatoes and corn sold and cooked separately - as were the mushrooms. Tasty, high quality and fresh food. I love crawfish and tend to be very picky. Being from Louisiana we eat them quite a bit between December to May every year. After moving here, I knew it may be tough to find spicy, delicious crawfish anywhere close to us. We found Pop's and have been back several times. If you want REAL Cajun boiled crawfish, Pops is IT. Most everywhere else in Austin boil in plain water and sprinkle seasoning on the outside of the crawfish before it's served. That's NOT Cajun crawfish. Pops does it right. If I'm not boiling my own, I'm only buying Pops crawfish. So good. And have not had a "dead" crawfish yet. Mushrooms are excellent. Great flavor. And NO MSG! read more

I really wanted to like this place, but I won't be going back. On the plus side: 1) The flavor was REALLY good. Wasn't overly spicy and was just good. 2) They price per lb was reasonable and they separated out potatoes and corn and charged separately for them. This is a good thing because you get more crawfish per lb than other boils and you can choose if you are interested in the other stuff. 3) The people working the stand were really nice. Why I won't be going back: 1) The crawfish were not purged/cleaned. There was gunk in every one of them. 2) There was no option for adding andouille even if you wanted to add it 3) Got an order of mushrooms and for $3 I got 8 nickel sized mushrooms. For that size I should have gotten at least 20 for my money. 4) They have no drinks other than water. At least fill up a cooler of soda and make some tea to go with it. Bottom line is I paid $15 (including tip) and had to go somewhere else to finish eating. read more

FIVE STARS!!! Pops crawfish saved my life! I desperately needed some good food and these friendly, hospitable, and generous folks at pops crawfish did not leave me disappointed. The two star reviewer must not be an experienced crawfish eater, the "gunk" is actually fat and it's meant to be there!! As an experienced exotic sea food eater, I can assure you that Pops Crawfish is an excellent establishment and is worthy of the time and money you spend there. Their nickel sized mushrooms were the perfect amount and size to complement their crawfish. This is the first spot we've found that has true, authentic, Lousiana boiled crawfish.The spice is all that you'd expect. They'll even give you extra spice on the side. We've been so disappointed until we found this gem. Perfection. Make the drive. It's a trailer under some twinkle-lighted oaks next to a bar with a full bar and bathrooms. It's a BBQ truck & on a Saturday evening they had ALL MEAT ready! Nothing was out so we had our pick. We ordered the 2 meats and 2 sides plate to share with brisket, pulled pork, mac & cheese, and scalloped potatoes. Favorite part of the dish was by far the brisket which was close to perfect. Pulled pork was seasoned with peppers or something, so found it a little distracting. But everything was good. Service was great, we ordered at the truck & they brought it to us at the bar next door, which has seating, twinkle lights, and on Sat college football all around. A very good austin BBQ spot - would like to try more of their meats to taste it all.

There is a drive thru to loop around the truck. They get you through the line pretty quickly. The place is nothing fancy, and they really don't have anywhere to sit outside and eat that I saw, so it's more take and go. I really like the everything taco. It's $3.50 and one is enough for me. I love their green sauce. It's got quite a bit of heat. They also take Venmo.

Call ahead to pick up ur order without waiting too long.

The idea of putting a chicken tender in a bun was a clever way to do things, and this was a nice big size of chicken. The breading is surprisingly hard and crunchy, but the flavor with the pickles, coleslaw, and sauce all blend well together. I could do with a bit more salt, though. There's a little shade in front with four picnic tables, some music playing, and decent parking if it's not too crowded. The cooking goes a little slowly since it's made to order, but it's the first day so I'm sure things will speed up. I wouldn't mind coming back next time I'm passing by and I'm very tempted to try their biscoff pudding that sounds pretty amazing!

Thing Two ordered the nachos at the suggestion of another customer who was raving about the order he picked up. After we ordered, it took about 5 minutes for us to get our order. The nachos were heavier on the cheeses than on the carnitas. The hefty cheese took away from the carnitas which was unfortunate. Looks like an Indian food truck is new. I tried one of their chicken meals. Took it home and was so thrilled how good it was. It was sweet and a little spicy. Chicken was really good. The rice was plan white rice and it came with 2 pieces of naan. Service was fantastic. He gave me a little story about his journey in the food truck business. It started with his dad. I sat down at one of the picnic tables they have. Didn't take long for the food to come out. It was wrapped really well in a bag. I brought it home and devoured everything. It was so good. And I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures.

All in all it was good but if they say they don't have rice to you just ask for a refund or chargeback with the bank because the comp was not worth it.

One of them is the heavily Colombian food court where Ninja Chicken is located. One Colombian group seems to own multiple food trucks in the court - even though the truck names are different and the menus are different. Cooks go back and forth between the related trucks bringing supplies. All of the relevant personnel are Colombian. If they are as good as Ninja Chicken, they are fine fine trucks. * * * How Colombian is Colombian here? a) This is a Spanish only location. The truck signs are in English and that is where the English stops. When I ordered in English, it was clear nobody was understanding me. (They were trying hard). I got the wrong thing. Fortunately the wrong thing was wonderful. (Fried cheese pastries with strawberry dip.) I was happy to have the pastries. b) There are many many Colombians here eating. I only saw one other Anglo person - a middleaged Texas lady linked to the relevant church. (More on the church later). c) ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS, THERE IS A COLOMBIAN BAND PLAYING TROPICALE. Keep in mind that food trucks in South America often come with entertainment. Entertainment is often a guy with an electric console and a ton of loops playing whatever instruments he knows how to play with synthesized backup. That's what this guy was doing. He was good on all of his instruments. I could have listened all day. d) Some of the trucks are associated with El Camino, a Spanish language church on 620. There was a giant pavilion with El Camino signs on the pavilion. There were people wearing El Camino badges in case you wanted to have a dedicated conversation about Christianity. Most of the El Camino people were Colombians. They had an Anglo lady in reserve in case you needed to talk about Christianity in English. El Camino has a very cool slogan " The perfect church for imperfect people." That slogan is right up there on the truck. * * * Good Colombian food. Good Colombian music. Colombian families everywhere. This could have been Queens New York - the epicenter of American Colombian food. Except everything else was Texan. Check the place out. Bring your Spanish dictionary to help with the ordering.

While it can get super busy on the weekends and the ambiance can be a lil overstimulating ~ I'm happy to come during the week days when it's a slower and I can pull up a chair at the bar for easy, laid back dining! Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint. It felt playful, quirky, and true to their roots. Their soft shell crab curry dish was also really impressive.
