Let me preface by saying we've eaten at other Gen's and the experience is fine. This one had one stumble after another. We went at 6 on a Sunday and it was not packed at all so we didn't have to wait to be seated which was great. Our waitress Emily gave us a quick rundown because we had people in our group who had never done Korean BBQ. Our first round of meat had a hair in it and she kind of ignored that and asked if we still wanted utensils then left. From there we had to flag down other waitresses/ and the manager Harry also came and took an order of meat at one point too. The meats were okay, but we've definitely had better. We tried a variety of meats like the bulgogi, brisket, pineapple steak, Gen steak, honey soy beef and garlic beef. They were all fine. When we were done with our grill, we told our waitress and she asked if we needed anything else... I guess we should have asked for the check because it was another 25 mins before we finally flagged someone down and asked if we could just pay at the front. We did in fact get up and do that, the hostess split our bill 4 ways when we asked for it to be in half. At this point the manager came up and he cancelled the first checks, split it correctly and then our waitress finally came up and asked where table 60 was (which was us). After being there for a few hours she had no idea what any of us looked like and that we were already in the process of paying, she asked her manager if we had skipped out on the check. It would have been easy to do if we weren't good people, but we indeed planned on paying, and were. The manager did apologize for the service we ended up getting as we explained some of the missteps throughout our time there. He was nice about it and apologetic for the hair. Other KBBQ spots offer a small ice cream scoop as a part of your meal, we kind of missed that here. The atmosphere was fine but the lights kept flickering on and off throughout the meal too which was kinda weird because it got very dark at times. This was our first time visiting this Korean BBQ restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was poor. We waited quite a while to be seated even though there were plenty of employees around. It honestly felt like we were invisible. After finally being seated, we waited an unusually long time just to receive water. We also made it clear to both the hostess and our waiter that this was our first time at a Korean BBQ restaurant and that we had no idea how anything worked. We expected at least a brief explanation or some guidance on how to cook the meat, what sauces or seasonings to use, or recommendations for beginners. Instead, we were left to figure everything out ourselves. As a result, the food ended up tasting bland and unappetizing because we simply didn't know what we were doing. To make matters worse, no one informed us until the very end of the meal that there would be an additional charge for uncooked meat left on the table. Had we been told this upfront, we would have ordered differently or made sure to finish everything we had. Waiting until the end to mention this felt unfair. Overall, the lack of customer service and communication made what should have been a fun first Korean BBQ experience into a frustrating one. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

This place is near Costco so if get the $80 for $100 dollar certificate since it is a hop skip and a jump. We went here on a Saturday at around 1:30pm after we went to the Wax Museum. We got the premium menu which includes all of the specialty meat. I enjoyed the wagyu beef, the beef rib and skirt steak. Their meat can sometimes be a hit or a miss. I think one of them was pure brown and looked old. It can get really busy and sometimes getting the food can take awhile to receive. The bulgogi beef was really old tasting and dry so disappointed with the fries as well. Some of the vegetables were frozen solid. The cajun shrimp do not get as most of the pieces were really mushy and tasty terrible. The service was outstanding however. One other thing is to be careful are the floors are greasy and you can slip easily. Other than that I would come back, but a 3 star because of some of the food can be terrible. read more

Coming to this Korean bbq was exactly what I was looking for. Food was super delicious to the spicy chicken and the pork belly with ribs and garlic chicken. No manager in sight to help mediate the situation or help the hostess??? The lobby area was very small and multiple people were waiting, it was cramped. Food was good and the meat tasted fresh, which is obviously the most important part of a Korean BBQ experience. But nothing to rave about. They bring over some rice to enjoy with the meat with the regular choice. The menu and options are a bit confusing and took some time to understand. Came here for dinner before a comedy show and was a good option, minus smelling like delicious bbq after leaving. They do all you can eat on the whole menu ramen included. It's $55 per person for dinner. They have wagyu and over 50 other my ear options to choose from also a host of various drinks from traditional Korean beverages to your normal ones. We ordered a wide variety of beef, seafood, pork, veggies, all wonderfully marinated! We have such a great time at this place. Lots of laughs, lots of great reactions to the great tasting food. Went to the Gen BBQ in Arlington before heading to the Cowboys v NY Giants game on Thanksgiving. The food was amazing as per usual but the best part of our experience was our server Meorah!! She is so sweet. Gave excellent recommendations to try a few items we had never tried before and were on point. She was even sweet enough to find me a hair tie so that my husband could make me chopstick "cheaters". :) The interior is the same as all other Gen BBQ's that I have been to around the country. For some reason, this location never has anyone watching the door area to seat customers. This is the second time in a row that we stood at the doorway until we could flag someone down. I'm not so interested in the fact that they aren't attentive. The restaurant was dimly lit where we sat. Our bench seat was torn, so it was not the best place to seat someone. The food was good. There were some meats that didn't taste so great. The shrimp had fishy smell to it. The galbi was good. The honey soy beef was really good, but the rice was mushy and cold. We came here for a birthday the other day, it was a first time for most! We had to veterans with us who showed us the ropes. We had a party of 7 plus a toddler. We learned that basically you just keep dumping the meat on the grill. Just keep it going LOL. They give 2 dipping sauces and a seasoning then 5 garnishes. Almost all of them were kimchi style - cucumber and jalapeño. Then randomly a potato salad LOL my only complaints are: the seating, they sat us at a high top next to a support beam it felt cramped. There wasn't enough space to actually pull out the chair to sit without bumping into someone else. Clearing the dishes could be better. I'll start by saying I'm very spoiled by Korean BBQ in other cities, to which this spot doesn't totally compare. But for the area I think it's probably a great option. A bit of a wait, which is somewhat confusing as many of the tables were ready to be cleaned for a while by the time we were sat. We were a table of 8 with 3 little kids, which I totally understand was probably not their favorite table. As such, there were a few things that were missed along the way (some of the orders, some of the refills, etc.), but I have a difficult time faulting them as they seemed to try their best. The menu is really extensive, but there were only a few meat dishes that were really worth getting, such as the brisket, the calamari steak, the bulgogi. They aren't shy about ordering multiple orders of dishes or refilling things, which was nice. And there wasn't really a time limit, so we certainly seemed to get our fill. There are a lot of sauce options that you can order that I wish just came with the table. Overall, this place fits the bill if you're looking for a Korean BBQ spot to eat endlessly in for not a terrible pricetag. Highly recommend the experience I walked around the whole place looking at everyone else's table to get an idea of what I might like to eat (I'm clearly a visual learner lol) the service was nice my waitress did a great job checking on me and helping me out, she even peeled my shrimp for me cus I was having a hard time with my nails and was making a mess- such a great and considerate lady. Definitely not my top 10 favorite kbbq spots, but not bad either The price is okay as the amount of meats are basically centered around a basic version, sweet marinated version, and a spicy version... With some exceptions. I'm not a fan of how adding beef tongue is $14 to $20. Service was alright. I would say, if you aren't too picky or it's your first few times going to a kbbq spot, try this out. I have been a fan of Gen Korean BBQ for years. This new store opened in Arlington in December 2023. Before this store opened, people in Tarrant County had to drive to Carrolton. As usual, the food and service were excellent. Gen's ambiance has always been about fun and casual dining; that is what you get here. Everything I have come to expect from Gen. Went here for lunch, the service was superb! All the staff members were super nice & attentive. They were fast to change out our grill when needed. The place was clean, ambiance was good. It was a weekday around 2pm & there were probably three or four other tables filled, I know they are still new to the area. For $20 a person & a two hour time limit it wasn't bad at all, they bring everything out quickly. For the banchan they brought out kimchi, cucumbers, radish, potato salad, & I think onions. You are able to order four items at once per table. During our time there we tried the spicy beef bugolgi, vegetables (it came with pineapples ), red wine marinated short ribs, garlic chicken, honey soy marinated beef brisket, mandu, & they had a pork tonkatsu stuffed with cheese. I failed to take photos of what we ordered... we were eager to start cooking! The food was good, but it didn't wow me... not necessarily a complaint because I'd still go back. This has got to be the worst Gen in the entire country and that's not an exaggeration. I've been to more than a few in different states and they are all usually decent or really great but service is all was good. This one however, the service is always bad. Even when it's completely empty it takes forever to be seated and then even more forever to be served. This last time was the final straw and as to why I'll never come back and would rather drive an extra 30 minutes to the one in Carrollton. We walked inside and looked around for a host or hostess. No one was around so we just waited for a while, but no one came after 5 minutes. So I waved to the staff in the kitchen and they ignored me. So we waited another 5 minutes and still no one ever came to seat us still. We ended up leaving and walked across the street to get a burger instead. I visited Gen Korean BBQ House this evening in Arlington to celebrate my mom's birthday, and while the experience was overall positive, it had its highs and lows. Let's break it down: The Good: * The Vibe: This place nails the lounge-like ambiance. With cool blue tones and just the right volume of music, it feels like you're dining in a chill nightclub. The atmosphere was perfect for hanging out, eating great food, and chatting without shouting across the table. * The Food: Oh man, that premium marbling center cut marinated short rib stole the show! So tender, so flavorful--it was the unanimous favorite at our table. We ended up ordering it multiple times, and it never disappointed. The Meh: * The Service: Our server, Deni (sp?), was fantastic when he was around. He was personable and clearly doing his best, but he mentioned he was running around a lot between tables, and it showed. There were moments when we were left looking around like lost sheep trying to figure out who to flag down for more meat and a glass of wine. * When someone finally approached the table to help, the interaction was, let's say, less than warm. She was abrupt and seemed irritated by our request, as if we were out of line for asking. It was a small moment but left a bad taste (and not the delicious BBQ kind). The Overall Experience: Despite the hiccups, the night was a success. My family and I enjoyed the food and vibe, and it was the perfect spot to celebrate my mom's birthday. I wouldn't call myself a Korean BBQ connoisseur--I've only been to a handful of places--but I'm looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. Room for Improvement: If there's one thing that could elevate the experience, it's more consistent service. Running low on meat or drinks while waiting for someone to notice can be frustrating, especially when the first person to arrive comes across as dismissive. A little more attentiveness would go a long way. Final Thoughts: I'm definitely interested in giving this location another shot because the food and vibe were great overall. I took my two boys for a Sunday lunch and could not have been more disappointed with the service we received, and it wasn't just our waitress. When you sit down for a Korean barbecue, you expect to receive your drinks, and panchan (side dishes). Then your Korean barbecue orders, and shortly thereafter, any stews or soups that have been ordered. Meats came first, then our drinks, and then our side dishes. I ordered the spicy tofu soup, soondooboo that did not come out until after I had paid our check. Getting refills of meat and dumplings took forever. The spicy Korean fried chicken was the worst thing in the menu by far. It was very heavy on the breading as if they took small slivers of chicken and breaded it and dump them in a deep fryer. At the very least, you should take chicken drumsticks or thighs, coat and then fry. The overall quality of the meat was good. Based on the level of service I received, I'd rather go somewhere else. read more
