I used to love coming to this place because they were known to ALWAYS have food going around on the conveyor belt... they always had fresh plates on the belt. I feel that ever since they upgraded to this "bullet express" thing, they haven't been able to produce the same great food. People are usually friendly & food comes out fast. However, expect at least 30 minutes wait to be seated on the weekends. The new "train" system is convenient and you get freshly prepared food. Genki is very disappointing. Low quality fish and small portions. The lines always get very long. You can probably get fresher fish at foodland. Menu is slightly cheaper than kuru kuru and sushi bay but they give way less. Ahi is usually market price so price varies. Not a fan. read more

When my wife and I first arrived we were told the wait would be about 45 minutes, so we decided to go browse one of the other shops while we were waiting, about 15-20 mins later we get get back to the waiting area and it's already almost close to our number that we were given and of course it's busy because Valentine's Day. There has been a change since I've last been here with my wife. So, I was pretty surprised that there's no longer a conveyor belt running through anymore and I like this change a lot because it doesn't have you questioning how fresh the ingredients of the food is on the conveyor belt as well as for sanitary reasons. The service was on point because they were constantly tending to my wife and I and offering refills without us even asking. I enjoyed the little slot games you get to play on the removable screen when you order dessert and my wife got super excited when I had won twice and we got stickers as a prize, which I didn't mind at all. My friend and I was craving sushi. I was nervous trying to eat at Genki since my other experience wasn't the best. This location was much better than the one in Kapolei. We arrived here at little over 15 minutes from when they opened. We were seated right away and I knew it was going to be a better experience. It was a lot cleaner and cooler. There was quite a bit of people when we entered, but that wasn't a problem. We were given a booth and they asked us if we wanted any drinks. My friend and I wanted to use the train, as it was our first time, and honestly, it's so much fun. Our food didn't take long to come and they were always fresh. This location has their kitchen off to the side and closed off, so the air isn't filled with oils or any food smells. On our fourth order, I ended up playing a mini slot machine game and I won (LOL). It said that my prize was coming with the dessert we ordered. I was hoping for food, but it wasn't, it was a fan with the Genki logo. It was still pretty cute and I loved the idea. Also, the food was great. We kept ordering more of the fried calamari. Our check came out to be less than $30 and it was honestly very fulfilling. If I could give 0 stars I would. I ate here on Friday when the restaurant opened. I ordered the spicy ahi, poke, and salmon plates. Towards the end of the meal I felt like I had something stuck in my teeth. I left not thinking anything. As I browsed around Party City to purchase items for a retirement party, my lips, inside of my mouth and tongue started to swell. I went straight back to Genki and complained. This was the first time I have ever experienced a food allergy so a friend of mine drove me to the ER at Pali Momi. The staff said it was due to bad fish. They gave me a steroid and then the symptoms went away. Since my car was still at Genki, I went back into the restaurant and complained again, this time with my ER paperwork. I wanted to speak with the manager but they weren't there so they said they would have them call me. It's Tuesday evening. No one has called me back. Not a voice mail or a text. The fact that the restaurant failed to check on the well being of the customer was beyond disappointing. I will never eat here again. You shouldn't either. This place is going down hill fast! The first few times dining here with my husband after their renovation, the staff and food was on point. For a while now, everything sucks. Last week I came with my mother in law in the morning. After receiving a few plates that we ordered, a roach ran all over our table(I wonder what its like at night!). We were moved to another booth, and was promised to get new orders. We were waiting forever to get our food. Everything we ordered tasted old as if they took it off the conveyer belt and just refried it. The fish lacks seasoning, food tastes old, the sauces are drenched and sloppy all over the sushi. Everytime I order Kabocha, the slices are cut too thick and served undercooked EVERYTIME. One time we ordered take out and they forgot something. By the time we noticed, we were already home so we called them and they took our name down to get a free plate the next time we go there. Weeks after we orderd take out again, when we paid, they said our voucher was expired because it was past two weeks. NO ONE MENTIONED AN EXPERATION DATE! After wasting our time, we got it cleared up and able to use our voucher after all. Impatiend and irritated we hurried home and what do you know...... THEY LEFT OUT SOMETHING AGAINNNNN!! Ate here at the Genki Sushi waikele and it was great. We may have been several people behind in line to eat, worth it. Our server Josh was good too. My daughter and I were in the area looking for somewhere to dine. From the outside the restaurant didn't look busy so we decided on here. Upon entering, we did not receive a 'greeting' but were seated within a minute by a female staffer. She seated us on a corner, two-seater, around a busy part of the restaurant. Looking around, I noticed a long row of open seating that had not been cleared from other customers. A few minutes later, a staff member cleared the counter so I requested to be moved, getting away from the busyness behind us. A male staff member obliged but a female staffer looked quite perturbed - roling her eyes. Notwithstanding, we moved to a better location for our comfort. Anyway, we both took turns going to the restroom. There were 2 dedicated, unisex stalls - each with a toilet and a urinal. Both stalls were filthy, with overflowing trash bins, paper towels and toilet papers scattered about the floor, and reeking of urine. I dont' know how often the restrooms are checked, but this one was not tended to recently. We waited a while before waving down waitstaff to order off the menu. A couple of orders were placed but still looked on the conveyor belt for more ideas. There were about 5 male workers and sushi preps who, although wore uniform caps, had long hair protruding from their caps. Is this a common practice to make food without hair nets? The food was okay, but all in all, I would hesitate to come back here. A large constrast to the customer who came here with good reviews. Good luck! read more

This restaurant isnt very clean. Theres old food and stains on the conveyor belt and our table was sticky. My sister asked for a side of avocado and our server specifically said "Don't worry about it, I'll get it to you right away". But it never came. We also ordered something else but that never came either. The food we did get was really good though. But when we were ready to pay, our server took forever to come to us. This was my first experience with belt sushi. The miso soup was okay, but the sushi was nothing amazing. I did grab a soft shell crab roll off the belt and ended up ordering a California roll as a safety as I wasn't impressed with the crab roll. We waited about 20 minutes for our seats and was seated near the kitchen door and the "bus tray" wagon. Ordered our food which was okay and noticed a fly flying around the wagon and near our table. Had to shoo it away a coupe times. We waited a long time for our agedashi tofu which is delivered from the kitchen and had to ask the worker to check on it. Finally came but it looked like it was "rush", tofu was not the usual golden brown and no crunchy texture. Asked for hot tea and again a long wait. When we got our tea, my cup had floating gnats, not just one or two, but around ten. I wished I had taken a picture...maybe a good thing I didn't. It was pretty gross. Told the worker and she seemed to not care. "Oh, sorry", took the cup away and never came back again. Went to pay and asked cashier for a manager. Young man said he was the shift supervisor and I told him about the tea. He also didn't seem to care. In fact he said that it was the tea leaves. I don't think so!! I'm sure we'll be going back again because my kids like it there, but going forward, no sitting near the kitchen door and the "bus tray" wagon, and check the tea before you drink it. read more

Everyone got their usuals and since I didnt see anything good on the conveyor belt I ordered off the menu but as I waited our waiter forgot one of my items so i had to wait even longer for him to punch in my order. bleh...he seemed new but still it was just ONE ITEM. Anyway most of the stuff is just mediocre since it is genki, so you are getting what you pay for. For dessert my mom and sister ordered the strawberry cheesecake which came rock hard solid! So as a tip this is something you should order in the beginning so that it has time to thaw out while you eat, but then again it will still be really frozen. For $4.80 a slice that came from costco it is a rip off but o wellz, it was still satisfactory. On the one hand, idk how clean the food is prepared but my parents didnt have a happy stomach after an hour so watch yourselves, especially whats on the belt. read more

I do not think they even deserve any stars! I just left there because Im so upset about what happened to me and my son. To celebrate boys day I decided to take him to sushi at Genki. Well we were told the wait would be 45 mins which turned into an hour. I could clearly see our number 184 next but the girls upfront checking in people decided to call 185 which was two people and I guess the waitress who was calling out numbers decided that it was best to call 185 first before us since she knew them. I was listening to her say to them "do you want a counter or booth?" Then i heard the girl say does not matter. This waitress took them first and even gave her friend a hug. At that point i was mad! I had to talk to the manager as I was upset. All they could say was a table was opening up now. The point is WE ARE ALL PAYING CUSTOMERS! But to take them first over us was unacceptable! It was two of them and two of us! Talk about favoritism! After getting angry and raising hell all the manager could do was say sorry we will give you a discount. What made me more angry was that his excuse was we just opened up two days ago. I then said thats not an excuse! There are many people waiting how would they feel being called later when they are waiting in line! All in all this New Gengki sure made me not want to visit again! Sad pregnant girl...Since I'm unable to eat anything raw right now, I figured I'd order an avocado maki to ease my pain a little. (I used to live off sushi!) The avocado was so overripe it was basically black in color so I ended up throwing it away. I will continue to give them business since the staff is nice and the food is good most of the time, but I'm really sad about this visit. Will check the quality of my food before leaving the restaurant next time, and also hoping the sushi makers will be more mindful about the ingredients they're using in the sushi. read more
