Gilbert's is a little spot in San Antonio that I have enjoyed for years. You don't go here for a fancy experience , you go here for good food and great people. There is a lot of photo history on the wall and Gilbert himself would greet you at the door. Great enchiladas, tacos and chalupas. Whenever I am close, I will stop for lunch.

Another Mexican restaurant that is a gem. Tastes good small place, building looks old BUT food was great!!!! Love their chips and salsa and green salsa I highly recommend it and will be back.

Food was very traditional in taste, especially the refried beans. Migas perfect. Coffee is good too. Service was friendly. It's a cozy little place. Not to loud. Parking was sufficient. I think you will like the restaurant. Check it out.

This area staple has something original but yet something I have always looked for since PHX. The best Tex-mex colab, Carne Guisada Enchiladas. The "Javi" special is what I had and the story behind the name is classic. (History is the menu). The rice was pretty salty and my tortilla was under cooked but even those issues could not stop me from coming back. The service was top notch and I wanted for nothing during my visit. The ambiance is very much a part of the experience here. Gilbert was a major Tejano music influence so the memorabilia is perfectly dated. The "Nick Cage" Elvis painting is something I would bid heavily for in an auction!!!!

Today is the 5th time I've ever eaten at Gilbert's. I had the Javi special. I give it an 8 out of 10. Not sure if it's common practice to automatically charge me 18% gratuity, but I certainly don't like it or appreciate that practice. I know it's only $3.05 but seriously to make me pay it like this is crazy. For that I will not ever return.

True authentic Tex Mex food !!! We had Javi Special (Carne G enchiladas) w rice and beans and cheese enchilada plate. Both of the plates were very fresh, kinda like mom used to make. The salsa and chips were fantastic as well. I've never had carne guisada French fries and they didn't disappoint. Very generous servings. Will def come back for that home cooked meal feeling!

I'm not a big fan of chorizo, but I do seek out unique variations of eggs benedict, and this one fit the bill, so I went for it. The flavor combination was perfect, and I wasn't overwhelmed with chorizo. If you like eggs benny, give this variation a try. You won't be sorry! The refried beans - I know it's silly to review beans, but these were a bit different than the normal ones we find in SA. They had a bit more texture, unlike the overly blended beans we're used to. Chef's Kiss goes out to these beans! The potatoes - we weren't sure what the seasoning was, but we think it was adobo. Whatever the seasoning is, it puts them over the top as far as breakfast potatoes are concerned. Good stuff! Just a couple of notes: We didn't get tortillas with our breakfast. It might have been an oversight, or our meals didn't come with them. Not sure. The service was great, but depending on the server you get, you might need to know some Spanish. I give them 5 solid stars for breakfast.

From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special. The atmosphere is beautiful, upscale, and inviting. The architecture and design throughout the restaurant are absolutely stunning. Even the restrooms were impressive and reflected the same attention to detail found throughout the entire establishment. The food was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. This isn't your typical restaurant experience--the menu is creative, unique, and offers something different. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the preparation and presentation of every plate. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the customer service. My waitress, Kreizon, was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made me feel welcome throughout my visit. Great service can make a good meal even better, and she definitely elevated the entire experience. The outdoor dining area is also beautiful and creates a relaxing atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a meal and taking in the surroundings. If you're looking for a restaurant that offers exceptional food, incredible ambiance, unique architecture, and top-notch customer service, Domingo is a must-visit. This is more than just dinner--it's an experience. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in San Antonio.

Electronic dance music pulsed quietly in the background. The toilets were all individual unisex stalls that were classy, mine had run out of hand towels. Also, the entire restaurant is very dimly lit. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu, but I have poor eyesight so there's that, but it might explain the quality of the photos I took. The Paloma drink was amazing. It had a great spicy zing in the back of the throat after every sip. Queso was... kinda plain. It might have been better with the add chorizo option. It was very thick. Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

We sat on the back patio for dinner on a day when it was 100 degrees out and there were fans all over to help keep the air flowing, which helped immensely. They have some interesting cocktails, such as their jalapeño cucumber margarita which is made with ghost pepper infused tequila. Their salsa tray is nice too, they have 4 to select from and you get three in this appetizer, but we ordered the 4th as well and all were pretty nicely done. The verde was amazing and the roasted tomato was great, just not spicy at all. I tried their combo fajitas and was thankful they came out being simply plated, rather than on the blazing hot, sizzling skillet - I don't need the show, just the good eats. The meats were decent, the beans were amazing. The tortillas were just ok, as I felt like they were way too thick. They offered corn tortillas too, but I'm in Texas, so you get flour, not corn. Save room for dessert, they have amazing churros! Overall, this was a decent visit. Service was nice too. I'd recommend stopping in.

It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.
