The luau was great and quite entertaining. Me and my wife and my kids all had a great time. Even my cynical 14yo had fun. The food and service was pretty good, although I had to supplement my picky 7yo with Burger King afterward. Probably not necessary to buy the premium tickets as every seat could see the festivities well and both groups were admitted about the same time. read more

I went here with some colleagues from work this week for lunch. Place was dead around 11:30 when we walked in. My boss said she didn't recommend it because the food was very greasy (menu heavy on fried foods) and made her family get upset stomachs. I went in with low expectations. I decided to order the lemon butter island fish with rice and vegetables. The fish was served with a lemon butter caper sauce...which did have a good flavor but appearance was not good. It looked like country gravy on top of the fish. It had a "skin" to it. Makes you wonder if the sauce is just simmering in a hot tray all day and scooped out with a ladle. The fish was moist and tasty ( I think it was Ono fish) but I got a bone in my fish filet. Fortunately I noticed it before I swallowed it. Vegetables were steamed vegetables...broccoli, carrot slices and onions. Nothing spectacular. My colleagues ordered the Greek salad which is surprisingly not served with lettuce unless asked on request, which they both did. The server told us the owner refuses to serve it with lettuce off the menu as that's not how it's done in Greece. I get it, but try to be in touch with your customer base. Sounds like an episode of Kitchen Nightmares...stubborn owner. We are on their lanai area which has some pretty views of the fairway. They do need to cut down some of the more unsightly invasive trees by the highway. They take away from the views. Seems like some new apartments or condos getting built near the fairway, also. Lots of flies outside...we were forced to go inside to eat or our plates would be surrounded by flies. Inside smells of oil and fryers. Prices to me were about what you'd expect. 15 to 25 dollar range for most meals. Food didn't come out fast but wasn't slow either. Noticed they don't serve iced tea which is odd considering three people at our table tried to order some. All in all this place, for me, is very mediocre and not anything I'd recommend to anyone. It's not bad, it's just not remarkable in any way. You'd think a golf course restaurant would be a little more upscale but this one a bit more on the semi dive bar level. read more

I have no idea how anyone would have given this luau more than 1 star. The food was awful. We got seated where the sun was in my eyes and no shade. You cannot see any of the performers. I spent $500 for the worst experience. This is a money grabbing tourist trap. The dive bar smelled terrible and the manager was mean. An autistic kid was loving it and dancing and she asked him to get up. She asked people to get off the elevated platform where people could actually see. I finished my meal before I got my juice. I went to a drum circle on the beach right after and it was free and phenomenal. I should have eaten dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants on the island and just went to the drum circle. read more

Love the name of this bar & grill on the edge of a beautiful golf course-They have happy hour 3-5 most nights & all day on Sunday. It has an inside and outside seating areas. There was a couple singing outside which was nice. We decided to sit outside at one of the picnic tables. The waitress came over quickly and was so sweet quickly brought us water while we waited for our friends to arrive. We ordered a Swiss mushroom burger($5 off because of hh) to share and I got a Mai tai($7) Was impressed they brought out 2 plates with burger & waffle fries divided for us. The burger was big & delicous and fries were cooked perfectly and didnt have alot of salt which I appreciated.. The mai tai was so good. Being restaurant is elevated you get a great sunset on the ocean view. We will definately go back again soon. read more

We were kind've bummed that we couldn't book the Old Luau in Lahaina where we had been to very many times. But we did find Gilligans. After reading mixed reviews, we felt we were taking a gamble on this new luau. Then we were bummed again that all vip seating was sold out. To our surprise, we were front row of the general seating that turned out to be better seating and view of the show than the vip seating. Every general seat faces the stage. Vip seats are turned away from the stage so they have to turn to watch the show. They even make all the vip people get up and move during the fire dancer( for safety reasons) so we did end up with front row seats for a few dances. Food was awesome, ambiance was even better. And the view was the best part. Five stars. I don't know what all those people complaining about are talking about. Yes there are posts holding up the patio covering, but it was actually super easy to lean over and look around the posts. Definitely a go to for a luau on the south side of Maui. read more

I'm giving this a one star because the website for the luau at Gilligans guarantees a flower lei and "panoramic ocean views." We got neither. The lei was woven leaves with literally only three flowers on the lei. As far as ocean views are concerned....there was no ocean view with our luau. The food was subpar and so was the service. For as much as we paid for the VIP luau, we were highly disappointed. I will give 5 stars to the entertainment. The live music and dancing was incredible! read more

We when with friends to have lunch today . The lounge is located in a golf course in Kihei off Piilani Hwy. the restaurant was dinghy and table was dirty hence it's like a dive bar bower the hood was fantastic. I had the blackened mahi mahi brioche sandwich was flavorful tasty and spicy with tomato lettuce and coleslaw. Others had the crispy fried chicken on brioche and pork sandwich which was also on tomato lettuce and coleslaw which was delicious. We had coconut shrimp which was okay but the French friend with chili cheese and jalapeños was a hit. The apple pie with vanilla as well as the ice cream with chocolate fudge was a hit. The service was quick pleasant and fast. We would definitely go back for the food in this non touristy restaurant in Kihei. read more

This was the most inexpensive luau on the island. The food was good but must say that the presentation of the food was one star. Friendly staff. Service was good. The show would have been pretty good but unless you are in the front row you will only see from the waist up. There is no stage. Having been to many luaus before I think that for the money would be better to book a fancy restaurant with live music. If it's your first luau then I would fork out the extra to go to a proper one with all the ceremony of taking the pug out of the pit etc. The dancers were all great but no stage. read more

Okay, so this review is for people who like REAL local bars. This ain't your tourist family vacation stop-and-have-calming-drink kinda place. This is a 100% genuine Local hangout. We went for comedy night and it was a blast. The owners are such great company and the comedians were hilarious. Drinks were cheap and came out fast and out waitress was really happy and sat with us to watch comedy at one point for a few minutes. It was such a fun boozy night with my partner and I loved being able to talk to the locals and comedians after their set. If you love comedy and beer. This is the place to go. If I had to make a demerit, the bathroom is something out of a horror film and semi-detached from the bar, which at 10:30 at night in complete darkness is for sure a deterrent. read more

Gilligans Luau was GREAT! The musicians and dancers were talented and looked like they really enjoyed performing! I hate it when a dancer doesn't smile! The emcee lady was charming and did a nice job of presenting show. The setting of show was intimate and the sunset made it so pretty as they performed. I was really impressed with the buffet. The food was really fresh and of good quality! There was a nice offering for vegetarians too, including salads, hummus and sautéed veggies, rice. My brothers enjoyed all of the meat and fish offerings too. Cakes were yummy but cookies were stale. Oh well. The wait staff was friendly, drinks decent and good champagne! The finale was the impressive fire dancer! Wow!!!! I recommend this luau to anyone who wants a smaller intimate but a good quality experience. read more

After really enjoying burgers at Gilligans on several different occasions my wife and I took friends there for an early dinner a couple of months ago and it was... meh. Burgers were smaller than we remembered, and dry. Yesterday my wife and I played golf at Maui Nui (the course where Gilligans is located), and after our round thought we'd try Gilligans again. Our waitress informed us that none of the taps were available, so beers had to be in cans or bottles. Kind of strange. Also, the draft pours are 16 ounces while the bottles and cans are only 12. They were out of their special deviled eggs macaroni, so we started with an order of "frickles," which are deep-fried pickles with a side of ranch dressing. My wife thought they were too salty but I thought they were spot-on. I went back inside for more ranch dressing as there were lots of pickles and not enough dressing to go with them. We each ordered a burger with waffle fries. The fries were hot - the way we ordered them - but the burgers were overcooked. Crusty and black on the outside, pink-grey on the inside. I was famished so I ate mine anyhow, and my wife pointed out to our waitress that her burger was not cooked properly and that the burger was smaller and not as well-sauced as they used to be. Our waitress was super-nice, took the burger back to the kitchen and requested another. It came out the same as the first one. My wife pointed it out and our waitress said she told the owner about our situation and he said that contrary to our earlier visits nothing has changed in the kitchen or food prep... I was not impressed that on a very slow Friday afternoon (there was only one customer other than the two of us) the owner couldn't take the time to come out and have a chat with us. We asked for the bill and paid for both meals (and we each had a couple of beers) even though my wife had not touched her burger. We left a good tip for our waitress - she was fine, though the meal was not. All-in our (Happy Hour pricing) meal cost $75.25 for an order of frickles, four beers, one crummy burger and one uneaten crummy burger. These burgers made Burger King and McDonald's look like 5-star restaurants. Sad. From now on the only burgers for us will be at Cool Cats in Lahaina. Gilligans let us down on two straight visits. We won't be back. read more

Buyer beware, we were sold an "authentic" Luau experience for "less" $347.82 2 adults 2 kids. We were crammed into a run down bar area while they prepped the patio/deck area outside the bar. They were very disorganized and arguing amongst themselves. Poles blocked our view , the dancers were good but very few, the food was horrendous, the pork was not cooked in an underground oven but in the back kitchen of the bar and drenched in a sub par bbq sauce, they constantly ran out of items on the buffet and nothing came out hot. To get drinks you were better off going inside up to the bar yourself. This was not an "Authentic Luau" this was a bar's version that they attempted to duplicate on their back deck. read more

It was way too hot. One a/c and 1 ceiling fan was broken and they didn't open the doors because of a wedding party outside I'm guessing. We were a group of 16 and we all had a hard time with the heat. The music was also too loud before the show and they told us only the magician could control the music. We asked him to turn it down but he didn't. It was a shame because we really enjoyed the magician and the blonde waitress was great except for a beer we ended up paying for that no one remembered ordering. We really want to come back if they can deal with some of these issues. Especially the A/C. I realize it was probably the wedding party outside that wanted the doors closed. read more

We went to the Luau here, and it was amazing!! You can do VIP seating if youd like, but we did general admission, got sat on the back row, and still had a great view! There's also a great view off to the side. 10/10 for entertainment, 10/10 for food, and 10/10 for service! Since the food is included, they are tip jar options for the hard working servers, so bring cash or they also take venmo! Alcohol is a seperate tab & not included, but they do include soft drinks!
