Number of visits: Twice. So, I recently got a new job that involves "floating around" to different places. The travelling is starting to wear me down. But the best part about it? I get to discover new and different places to eat! My next stop was Baldwin; a different place from what I'm used to in Queens, New York. I'm not a big fan of Long Island. It seems like every time I go there, it's overcast. And the population density is less than what I'm used to. "Where's the sun?! Where's the people?! Where's the food?!" During lunch, I took a walk around and found Gino's hiding in the corner of a small shopping center. I went in worried about seats but, alas (Patrick Bateman voice), there was one for me. Their display of their different items enticed me. On the first day, I had a Sicilian with a topping I couldn't figure out. It looked like buffalo chicken. And I got this rounded piece of bread that was garlicky on the outside, cheesy on the inside, and had spinach on it. They were both delicious. On the second day, I ordered a slice of I don't know what, which had chicken and a delicious and creamy white sauce that tasted familiar, but I didn't know what the bleep it was. Six pieces of garlic knots for $2 rounded out the meal. The knots were succulent; almost a 4 / 5. The food was very good. The guys behind the counter seemed cool. The placement of the line could be confusing, and I waited a little long, but it was no problem when I finally got my order in. The place seemed clean both times I was in. Four out of five stars. I had an above average experience in this place. Will I return? Yes... to learn the names of the stuff I'm ordering. read more

I order a baked ziti from here Monday night for dinner. I thought since I live nearby and was on my way home from work I would give it a try. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! HOW CAN YOU FAIL AT MAKING BAKED ZITI ???? I COULDVE made it a thousand times better. It seemed like they grabbed a whole jar of Ricotta drenched the pasta in it , put a pinch of sauce with no flavor and called it a day. The pasta was over cooked and the mozzarella cheese on top was way too much and way to heavy , it was so pale and soggy and tasteless. It even looked disgusting!!!!! Very disappointed. Will not be ordering again. What surprised me the most was the way my complaint was handled. Let me first start off by saying how much I loved and enjoyed the food in the past. We Catered my daughters birthday and have had several corporate lunches catered from here. I decided it was a good option to have a nice Father's Day dinner at home. Key complaints- there was a hair on my slice that was cooked into the cheese, when I mentioned that to them I was told that no one at the establishment had blonde or light colored hair so it couldn't have come from them. I also expresses how over cooked the linguine was done and the clams were not baked enough, they weren't browned on top or crispy, they were soupy. After 2 "please holds" I was told that they could offer me a credit for a free slice ($3) next time I ordered. I said no thank you, I am not looking for a free slice, but I am very disappointed in the meal. Instead of offering to send me a meal on a different night on them to make up it, I was thanked for my feedback and was told they would let the owner know. Food is pretty good so it's a shame they are not better organized. Service and logistics not so much. Called at 1:50 and ordered 1 slice, 1 sicilian and 1 marinara slice. Showed up at 2 and was told the sicilian would take a few minutes,so I said ok. At that point 2 sicilian pies were put in the oven. I stood there for over ten minutes with no update. At 2:16, I received my order. He apologized for the delay. I've ordered from here and eaten at the restaurant plenty of times with no issues until today. I placed my order 6:45 on a Sunday and it was supposed to come 8:10-8:20 according to grub hub. At 8:10 I realized I placed it to the wrong address. I called 8 times trying to reroute it and no answer. Finally I get a call back and was able to change address at 8:30. It's 8:45 and I'm still waiting for the food. It's a 6 minute drive from our house. Should have just picked it up. Their regular pizza is good, the ham rolls are EXCELLENT - but you need to allow time for delivery. I can deal with 45-60 minutes for lunch rush delivery, but almost 2 hours is unacceptable. If you can't deliver in an hour, than be honest and say so up front -- before I call 3 times asking for where the food is (once at 70 mins, 100 mins and then at 125 mins) all because you keep saying it's out for delivery. Usually you get good pizza here but yesterday I ordered a large pizza half extra cheese and half pepperoni for delivery. When it arrived & after the driver left I opened the box & all the cheese had slid off the pie & onto the box !!!! It was a sloppy mess . We could only eat half of the pie & throw the rest away !!! OK. Here we go. We were lead to the Indian Restaurant across the road because it got awesome YELP reviews. The said restaurant was "closed due to construction" or some crap. This was on a Saturday night March 12, 2016 . Woe is me; I detest going out to eat on Long Island on Saturdays. I avoid the crowds at all costs. I hate the noise , the teenagers, the texting, the selfies, etc. I hate waiting for tables and being elbow-to-elbow with other people wherein they can hear your entire conversation. Maybe YOU do too? So anyway- we were so friggin hungry we (I was with a small group) looked across the street at this; GINO'S PIZZA. Heard of it-- never had it. We were hungry enough to eat a fire hydrant by that point. We ventured across the street to the Gino's / Stop n' Shop parking lot where we were nearly run over 2 or 3 times by local lunatics in 1990s beaten up Dodge Caravans. I dunno-- maybe they were all due in surgery or late for a meeting at the United Nations ? Maybe they were going to a prayer meeting at a local church? Who the f*** knows. ("Yambags" as my friend Beth L. calls them) We enter Gino's. It's fairly full (not quite "packed") and the staff (3 young guys behind counter - 2 young ladies waitressing - dressed in black) ignore us completely . We waited for a few minutes and nothing. We were standing right in their path too! No adults around. No manager. Nothing. Phone was ringing off the hook with "take out & delivery" orders probably. ************************************************ 1) All it would have taken for us to stay and feel welcome - would have been : "Hi Guys. Have a seat in the dining area. It's a little crazy. We will be with you in a few minutes if that's ok?" ****************************************************************** But...... Nothing. We stormed out in a huff (which is something I never do-- at all!) ------------------------- 2) Dear Ginos Manager / owner; when you do the staff hiring I sure hope you tell your future employees: "You know- it does get crazy busy in here Friday & Saturday nights. So please be aware you have to handle all sorts of stuff all at once & greet new customers AND deal with people on the phone AND people who are already eating. Do you think you can handle that? Because if NOT - I don't think this will work out AND I will carefully look for someone else to properly handle emergencies in my place of business that I rely on to make money". _______________________________ Now I was a "cranky Frankie" that night because I had NO LUNCH before dinner -- but we were treated like the Invisible Men at Ginos. That sucks. NO? Never going back here and never going to try the Huntington location. Why? Because Long Island is so infected with pizza that even if someone looks at you crooked & makes you feel unwanted... let 'em rot. Too many other pizza options. (and that includes 7-11 pizza - you Yambags) A gracious F.U. Ginos. P.S. Ginos actually saved us some trouble; As we left the place , about 2 dozen teenaged girls with gifts (obviously a birthday party) & lots of sass & screaming & iPhones were entering to eat & party & text & selfie themselves to death ! I got confirmation that they received the order and that it was being prepared I had even called prior to ordering to make sure they still had the Panini I wanted, so I knew they were still open and delivering. I called when my food was 15 minutes late and there was no answer. When I called the next day to get a refund to my credit card the girl who answered the phone and the manager were so disgustingly rude. I will NEVER order from here again. read more

We had package #2 for 15 people; 1/2 tray wings, 1/2 tray meatballs, 1/2 tray shrimp parm, 1/2 tray rice balls and 1/2 tray caprese salad. Great food. Pasta is delicious. Like most pizzerias it's better to call ahead and pick up your order. If you ask them for delivery your pizza will not be hot by the time you get it.
