Note to management: my dog is well behaved and I have him for a seizure condition. He has never acted out in public as he has been doing service activities for 2 years now. He stayed in a "down stay" and never barked or misbehaved. He was accused of peeing under the table and yet he has never done such a thing. Our favorite pizza in the whole entire world is Giordano's stuffed pizza with garlic. My husband and I have been to several Giordano's locations in Illinois and Florida, and my husband has had take-out from the location in Holland, Michigan. We are Giordano's fans. We are Giordano's veterans. This being said, we had some of the best service we've ever had a Giordano's restaurant when we sat at the bar of the location on South Michigan Avenue on Friday, August 31st after our visit to the U.S. Pizza Museum. The restaurant was busy, so we chose to sit at the bar. (We didn't want to take a four-top table when there were only two of us.) As soon as we sat down, the manager took our drink orders. Minutes later, the bartender appeared. He introduced himself, and he told us that he would be taking care of us the rest of the night. He was friendly. He was professional. He was attentive. We appreciated the experience so much! We had avoided visiting Giordano's for some time, opting for take-out because we had had a couple of poor service experiences at other locations. On Team Malnati's am I. Blasted over from a McCormick for this year's deep-dish experience. Ordered the usual sausage pizza and counted away the expected 45 minutes for preparation. Pizza was flavorful, but overall evoked a less savory, less comprehensive experience than that of Uno or Malnati's. Whereas the others feature a veritable bedrock slab of sausage as the flavor backbone, Giordano's sausage served only as a topping. Crust was crunchy, but less decadently buttery than its competitors. Almost everything was great. The pizza was simply amazing. From the crust to the sauce to the cheese to the veggies, the deep dish did not disappoint. I grabbed a small pie as I was heading back to the east coast. The young lady who took my order on the phone was polite and helpful. When I arrived, a young white man rang me up and just gave me the box of pizza. I had to tell him to give me a bag and then I noticed as he proceeded to give the rest of the customers paper plates, napkins, and condiments so I got a bit annoyed and went over to the young white lady who I believe had taken my order and asked for a few plates and without me requesting anything else, she handed me a bag filled with napkins, condiments and plates. I'd hate to think the first young man was discriminating and just did not want to serve me but I was very happy with the other girl as well as the pizza in general. Giordano's has always served my favorite thin crust pizza. I enjoy their deep dish, but would order from a few different places first. This location is very nice inside. The wait is usually long at popular times, the outside seating area is very nice and will be even better when the construction next door finishes. The bar inside would be nice if it were not so understaffed. I always feel bad for the bartender who is forced to work by himself covering a large size wrap around bar and the drink orders for the entire restaurant. If you sit at the bar, be ready to order food and two drinks as soon as you can talk to the bartender. You may not have a second chance to order. read more

She had a weird problem remembering our friend ordered a regular coke and not diet, but that wasn't a big deal. Travelling to Chicago, myself and a group of others were dying to try deep dish style pizza... along with a much deserved drink after a 3 day conference. Well long and behold Giordano's does not accept a valid Canadian drivers as ID for an alcoholic drink or a picture of a valid passport or a photocopy of a valid drivers license. Customer service was ABSOLUTELY ABHORRENT and THE OWNER should really review the management of this location. Beside their google ad it should note: BRING YOUR PASSPORT, your 5th cousin once removed, your ex-husbands mother, and whatever other ridiculous thing you can imagine. Never have I had such a terrible experience dining. Service was horrific. We preordered our food prior to coming. When we got seated, our server was nowhere to be found. Fantastic deep dish pizza! I've been to Chicago four times now, three of which were for business. I'm a big deep dish fan and I've been back here twice! The restaurant is family oriented with low lighting and a friendly staff. I most recently ate here on the 2/26/15 for a business trip and I was simply blown away by the 312 Chicago beer. So fresh! I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and this has always been my favorite pizza. I love the deep dish sausage and their Cesar salad. I've gone here multiple times with people from work for lunch since it is within walking distance from our office. The lunch special is perfect since you get a small pizza and a side and a drink. The parmesan fries are also really good. If you aren't a fan of the deep dish pizza their thin crust pizza is also really good so there is something for everyone. The staff at this location has always been very nice and fast. If this is your first time having deep dish pizza keep in mind that it takes at least 45 minutes to make it so make sure you're not in a hurry! I think at some locations you can call ahead to place your order. The desserts here are also really good (especially the cannoli). read more

This was actually a great experience considering I was in town on business. Was able to order from a nearby hotel and have it delivered. The pizza was fantastic! Severely under staffed. The front desk guy said we only need to wait for ten but then everybody at the front desk disappeared for 30. We complained and magically got a table right away. The whole restaurant is packed with probably much more than 60 people but you basically can see only 2 waiter any time you look around. And we waited and waited, nobody showed up to get us water. Giordano's is right there with John's of NYC, Sally's and Pepe's of New Haven, and Manco & Manco of OCNJ, as the best pizza in the world. I came back within 25 min and I notice they put the pizza on the so I go to the counter and ask for my order . We ordered the appetizer platter and all meat deep dish. The appetizer was good, my favorite was the brushetta and the tomatoes in balsamic vinaigrette. There could've been more food for the price of the platter. The pizza was well worth the wait. This was our first time having Chicago style deep dish. Our waiter maintained great service despite being busy. The manager also came by the table to see how we were doing. If you're looking for something quick this is not the place. It's been about 5 years since my last trip to the Windy City and boy have they gone downhill. I ordered the deep dish with ground beef - it was mostly crust, very shallow (certainly not deep!), limited ground beef, and hardly any tomato sauce on it. So disappointed. Awesome! I was in town for a conference and was trying to taste some authentic deep-dish pizza. First I tried Lou Malnati's, which was good. Then I figured I would try this spot which was also within walking distance to my hotel. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding! Caveat, I came late (I.e. like within an hour or so of closing time) so I told them I will take my food to go so as not to interrupt things. The bartender ( I wish I could remember her name) was so accommodating and nice. She insisted that I could eat there and that I wasn't a bother. I order a few beers, and she even bought me one! I ate the wings there and then took my deep-dish (pepperoni or sausage, I forget) to go. It was excellent, and I even went back there the next night, had the same excellent service. I will definitely go back next time I am in Chicago. read more

This NYer has lots to say about pizza. I find it interesting how different this version of pizza is. I ended up getting a cheese pizza w/ spinach & pesto which really made it that much tastier.
