I came here because the original place I tried the last time in Chicago went out of business. So someone suggest I try the classic deep dish pizza at this place but I tried the meat lover's and it did not disappoint. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and buttery soft on the inside, and the layers of gooey cheese, rich tomato sauce, and flavorful toppings made every bite a dream. Yes, the wait time was a bit long -- about 30-35 minutes -- but that's expected with a true deep dish, and trust me, it's totally worth it. The staff was super friendly and made the wait enjoyable with great service and appetizer suggestions. If you're visiting Chicago or just craving a proper deep dish, Giordano's is a worth a visit. Just come hungry and maybe call ahead to order!

Overall: 3.5 / 5 Classic Deep Dish: 3.5 Calamari: 3.5 Ceasar Salad: 4 Service: 5/5 Finally got the chance to try the Chicago Deep Dish! The crust was good. Different from a traditional style pizza, but good. I wasn't a huge fan of it however. The sauce to cheese ratio was off for me. A lot more cheese than sauce. The sauce is literally only on the top of the pizza, and the sauce is delicious! The classic comes with pepperoni and sausage, but it gets lost in the cheese. It's a lot of cheese lol. Calamari was okay. Nothing special. Definitely needed salt. The Caesar salad was delicious! Made very well. Overall, I thought the food was decent, and I'm glad I can check off "Chicago Deep Dish Pizza" from my bucket. I wouldn't doubleback, but if you've never had it and your in Chicago, you gotta get it!

Well I finally had my first true Chicago deep dish pizza! I would've added more photos but I was a little too excited to eat. I had wings, yes delicious! I had a deep dish pizza with a side salad and lemon Greek dressing, yes delicious! I can only say this food did not disappoint at all. I wish I was able to bring it home with me, especially the pizza and the salad dressing because they both were amazing. The service was ok but honestly didn't care too much about that part because the food was the star of the sho and boy did it show out.

Our very first time eating at this restaurant in Gurnee, IL! It was recommended to eat nearby the hotel. So, we tried it out for the famous deep dish pizza. When we walked in, got seated right away. There was one other table of people sitting there at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, (3/13/24). Looked over the menu and decided to order a Chopped Chicken Salad, a Large Spaghetti with Marinara sauce, a Deep Dish Pizza with Jalapeños, Onions, Peppers, Tomatoes, Spinach and Pepperoni. Got another custom Deep Dish Pizza with Chicken and Jalapenos. The server said 45 minutes for the pizzas to be ready... We got a Shirley Temple, a Diet Pepsi, Sprite and Water for our drinks. The atmosphere inside was kind of dingy, but very quiet and comfortable. After about 10 minutes, we got refills on drinks and the salad. Received the Pizzas after about 50 mins. Then after another 10 mins, got the Spaghetti. Didn't realize the pizza portions and sizes were so large! We figured the Deep Dish pizzas would be stomach fillers, but man were they huge and thick slices!!! Very cheesy!!! Tasted pretty good, just way too big. Had to take the Spaghetti to go since we were hecka full already from the pizza and salad. Maybe our expectations were too high? Didn't taste a single piece of chicken on the pizza. Maybe it was forgotten??? Ambiance and service - 4 Food quality - 2 Overall rating = 3

Taste has gone down in 4 years or maybe I worked it up too much the first time. We came right before the lunch rush but the pizzas were still going to take 45 mins from when we ordered it. No problem, we'll have an appetizer. We ordered the same as last time Giordano's Sampler, the bruschetta was delicious but the cheese sticks and nuggets were ok. We ordered the Chicago Classic small, meat and more meat medium and one small pizza half cheese and half pepperoni for our kids for a grand total of $130. Meat and more meat Deep dish was the start of the day very flavorful and filling. The chicago classic was not good at all. The veggies were cold inside with the sauce and it gave it a dirty taste. The kids flatbread pizza was great for them. All and all I probably wouldn't come back as eager as I was this time.

This place was amazing. They were really busy as it seemed like all the Navy bootcamp graduates were in there eating. Still, the service was fast and friendly. The chicken parm sandwich was amazing and both pizzas were very good. Definitely recommend this place.

Craving a deep-dish pizza. we went during off-peak time in the middle of the week. The waiter was perfectly on top of everything! One thing you must know is the deep dish pizzas take 45 made-to-order minutes, so don't act surprised while you're waiting. It says it takes that long, in writing, on the menu, people! Starters: came out in about 5 minutes. Cheesy garlic bread Minestrone soup Ceasar salad I think everyone was hungry and pretty much devoured it all. I decided to order Crumbl cookies while waiting since they were two doors down, But there is a shopping center adjacent to where you can take a stroll to pass the time. And true to their word, 45 minutes later we had: The deep-dish Chicago classic- Massive. Cheesy. And one slice was plenty. The crust was crispy on the bottom. I quite enjoyed it very much. I would come back for sure.

Food was great, not greasy and VERY filling. My husband and I shared a 10" deep dish and we both had 1 slice each along with a salad and we took the rest of the pie home. It wasn't a busy time that we went so it was nice. Noise level at the time we went wasn't too bad either. Kinda wish the waitresses paid a little bit more attention, we kept looking up to get some refills of our drinks and one of our drinks was a sprite and she refilled it with water :o/

Poor quality, Poor taste! Would not come back ever! Visiting from LA and was excited to try this place after hearing the hype online, however our excitement was quickly let down. The rigatoni bolognese has practically ZERO meat in it. I found maybe 4 small chunks of meat mixed into my pasta. Picture provided. Thank god I only payed $12 for the entree and not the family platter. I should have payed nothing for it. Not only is there no meat, the pasta sauce itself completely lacks flavor. We ordered a deep dish pepperoni and sausage pizza as well, yet it feels like we're eating nothing but cheese, bread, and unflavored sauce! Who knows, maybe we were served one of the frozen pizzas they sell. Would never come back again. Extremely unfortunate I wasted my money here, so much for "Chicagos best pizza since 1974"! Could name 5 corner stores in LA that sell better pizza than here. Go somewhere else!

Pros: pizza sauce had an excellent flavor, vegetables were fresh, dining area and bathroom were clean. Cons: poor service, overall pizza taste was bland, poor selection of beer and wine. A little pricey, but you also get a lot of food, so it balances out. read more

TERRIBLE,TERRIBLE delivery , I ordered $50 + worth of food and was told 1 hour 15 min delivery time (already excessive), and my food showed up at 1 hour and 50 minutes, cold fries (a waste , I threw them right in the garbage) cold pizza , cold beef sandwich. Not impressed,I will NEVER order from there again and I will tell everyone I know had bad my experience was. I wish there was a lower rating than 1 star , Very ,Very bad. read more

We walked in 30 minutes before closing, and the host told us that they had stopped seating 30 minutes before that. We were looking for a true Chicago deep-dish pizza and had searched on the Internet for this, having come all the way from the East Coast. Why don't they post on their website that they stop seating an hour before closing, or why don't they post a notice on the front door? Further, and to be blunt, the host's attitude in being "unable" to recommend another pizza place nearby was off-putting ... especially considering that he presumably knows the area. Let's see whether this attitude persists if/when COVID rears its ugly head again and this place wants customers to support them as a local business. We ate at a competitor's restaurant within a half mile of Giordano's - which the host presumably didn't know about. Better attitudes and possibly better pizza. Guess where we'll be going for Chicago pizza when we're in this area again? Not Giordano's, that's for darn sure. read more

I was expecting to have the best deep dish pizza because my friend said it was better than Lou Malnati's... but to be honest, I was bummed out. I've had both deep dish pizza's & I would say there was nothing special about Giordano's. I felt it tasted just like a regular slice of pizza with soooo much cheese. Now I would say my thoughts could be better if our pizza wasn't warm/cold once we got it. My friend & I noticed other tables & their pizza's coming out & the cheese was just melted... but when the waitress tried to serve our pizza, the cheese was already cold that someone had to cut it. My friend & I do believe the pizza was sitting for a while until someone had noticed it hadn't been delivered to our table yet. We also ordered the sampler for appetizer, & the tator tots/mashed potatoes in one was BOMB! As for service, our waitress was really sweet. The location is great as well because it's located across from Gurnee Mall, so you can eat & shop right after! read more

What can I say, I just didnt like it. It looked super delicious and I was so excited to try my pie, but for me, the taste was abysmal in comparison to its looks. Maybe it was the toppings we ordered, but it just was not doing anything for my taste buds. Sorry Giordano's. Maybe next time! read more

We were sat at the table and didnt get our order in till 30 minutes after we sat down. Multiple families sat down and left while we werent being served. Not only that but once we got our order in which was two medium pizzas, we didnt recieve the meal until an hour and a half. This was my first time there and i will never go there again. Stopped in for lunch while visiting Chicago for my daughters graduation from Navy boot camp. Food and service was excellent. We ordered two orders of their wings, one traditional and one BBQ. Wings were fresh and tasted excellent. We ordered two pizzas, 1 bbq chicken and 1 build your own. Pizzas came out and fresh, so you have to be patient. Ours took right around 35 minutes to come out and they do warn you that it does take time. Pizza was by far the best pizza we have ever eaten. If your in the area, you have to given them a try. read more

This has got to be the coolest little place in the city. Such interesting decor and a warm atmosphere. It took a while to get seated which made sense since we were a party of six on a Saturday. The dining room is very small with limited space. I walked up to the bar to get a drink and no one paid attention to me. Once we sat down we waiting a while to be greeted and the waters and drinks we ordered took a very long time to arrive. The food was incredible and made up for the less than desirable service. Take out from here is okay as well. Again, service is subpar but the food is excellent. read more

Went in at 9:25pm on a Wednesday with some family from Greece and were told by the host that they stop talking tables close to 9:20 to 9:30pm even though the hours of operation stated til 10pm. There was another group that came in and were told the same thing. I told them they should have that posted and he appologized and said it was their unwritten rules. Luckily the host directed us to a Pizzeria UNO down the street. The other group followed us to Pizzeria UNO as well. read more

This was my first time coming to Illinois and I wanted to see what all the hype is regarding the pizza so I got a recommendation for here and decided to try with my wife. I must say that Wisconsin mozzarella cheese is great, the pizza was OK, prices were higher then Round Table Pizza a 11" (small) pepperoni pizza ran me like 23$ -__-. But the customer service was horrible literally took an hour for our food and staff kept forgetting about me and my wife order. read more

We were in town for my daughter's Navy Graduation. Came in on a Thursday evening after dinner hours. Got seated right away and server asked us what we wanted to drink. We also had an idea of what we wanted to order knowing from previous reviews that the pizza took 45 minutes. Ordered a variety of appetizers as well, and the were delish! The service was excellent and the pizza was amazing! It's not something I would eat on a regular basis but was a must do while in Chicago! Definitely would recommend. read more

Just had the Classic Chicago Deep Dish Pizza and it was AWESOME! I'm from Jersey so I'm used to good pizza, but this was fantastic! We also has the Cannoli's which were made in house and they were awesome as well. Our male server was pleasant and very accommodating, I will be back soon! read more

This is normally a very good establishment, pizza is great but something about the wait staff was absolutely horrid this evening, waited for drinks..long wait..never had the same server twice which was rather annoying. Was constantly dodging the rude bus/table cleaner lady. mid conversation she would stick her hands across our table and grab random trash without saying excuse me and practically demanded we give up our plate. I am actually writing this review post meal as to cut the hangry out, but this experience was a troubling one and warranted two stars. Good luck... read more

Please Never order from here. 2nd time we tried this place and the pizza dough was raw and so was the sausage. The manager on duty was less than helpful. We ordered the pizza at 420 for pick up. Wasn't ready until 535. Got it home and it was barely even warm and the dough was raw as well as the sausage. Try Lou's. Always great pizza. read more

Tried the pizza three times and was disappointed EVERY time. Deep dish had uncooked crust/dough - and raw sausage! Tried the "traditional classic" - raw dough, soggy, WAY too much cheese (covered all the toppings) and not enough sauce = a very DRY pizza. Awful. You would think with their reputation and money spent on advertising that they would offer a decent pizza. I know many people like Giordano's but we will never go again. read more

Someone recommended this place to me and I went here when I was in town for my wife's Navy boot camp graduation. I'm so glad I did. Best deep dish pizza I have ever had. I was definitely impressed. I drove 12 hours to get to Great Lakes, got the pizza to go before I even got to my hotel, and I'm glad I did. It was well worth the wait. The next time I'm in Great Lakes I'll be sure to eat here again. read more

I truly wanted to enjoy and support this local restaurant, but the lack of attentive service and cleanliness issues made it difficult to overlook the negatives.

2 hour wait to get a table. Over 90 minutes to serve food once you order. Snippy service attitude like they're doing you a favor. Meat pizza made us all sick. Hawaiian pizza has no ham on it. The other orders were placed incorrectly so the wrong pizzas came out or none at all for some I our party. Totally incompetent with an inferior product. Do not believe the hype! No thanks on your offer Ana P., nothing would get us through that door again. One other thing I failed to mention here... this disservice ruined our son's first night of liberty after graduating basic training in the navy. The person with whom I spoke over the phone RUDELY communicated this to me this after I called to confirm that I would be bringing in a large group of out of town guests on a Friday night. (I called just two weeks prior and was told by another employee that reservations were accepted for large groups but only one week in advance.) I know some people would argue that maybe a guy named Lou has a better pie but I tell those people they don't know what they are talking about.
