People Don't Care They're Smoking BBQ Coals Wow, I'm surprised this place gets such a huge crowd. You have Cafe O next door but this place is always full! You have a nice mixture of people here. Guys and girls, good to people watch, have some alcohol, eat some food, and smoke. It's right next door to a big indoor parking lot. Here's the negative and it's a big one especially for smokes. The coals are the same ones you use in the BBQ Grills!! They have huge bags of BBQ coals that they're cooking up to put on your hookahs. These are the WORSE hookah coals I've ever smo ked. I think they should be banned for smoking or have some type of warning 'You will get cancer quicker smoking this'. The coals turn to ash instantly and that's what you end up smoking. Anyways good for people watching, alcohol, meeting people, but bad for smokes. I gotta go below average here. read more

I had the worst experience here!! The only people that were on top of their game were the guys dealing with the hookah. Changing the coals and clearing it out...good job!! But the waitresses....GEEZUS bad service. We basically got ignored after we got our drinks. It was really odd because the waitresses would go to ALL of the tables around us and just skip over ours!! When we finally got a hold of the girl and we asked for the check and then that never came so we walked to the front and shes like "did I every bring it to you?" SPIKED DRINKS? Could it be true?! Every time I've been here, I've left with a bad taste in my mouth. Last night was different, or so I thought. It was the first time I EVER had decent service.. but this review is not about the service. My girl friend and I went to Gitana to smoke hooka and decided to have a few drinks... By my third drink, I was gone [and I am not a light weight when it comes to alcohol]. I honestly think my drinks were spiked with a drug. Both my friend and I were not feeling well within a two hour timeframe. This was the absolute worst experience of my life -- I'm talking blurred vision, nausea, couldn't lift my head up... I couldn't walk, let alone drive. I don't remember half of the events that took place from the time I left this establishment to the time I woke up this morning. I will never order drinks from a waitress again because I don't know what was poured in my glass and I don't know if it was left unattended at any point before it was served to me. I called earlier today to speak to the owner and let him know what's going on, but he was not available so I left a message and my contact information. I'm waiting for a call back -- until then, this place is not worth your time, money, or well-being. read more

I absolutely love this place! Even though it's a hookah place I'm going to rave about their food first because everything on their menu is amazing! If you're hungry get their chicken wrap or chicken burger (I don't eat red meat) but I have tried their Mexican burger and that was amazing also!! If you're on the less hungry side try their hummus with beef on top. They serve Starbucks which is the best part about the menu lol. If you're there for a drink try their liquid cocaine. It's a cinnamon flavored shot that will keep you buzzed all night! As for the hookah, all of their hookah guys know how to pack which has your hookah going for two hours and the charcoal guys are constantly going around putting coals on the side even if you don't need them lol they have all the new flavors of star buzz fumari and tangiers. Service- amazing. The workers are all super nice and make you feel super welcomed. They have a great management here and it shows by how smoothly everything is run. Gitanas is truly one of the better hookah lounges in the area. It has a full bar and kitchen, with great hookah. Not to mention, the food is to die for. My favorite item on their menu is the fatoush salad, served with marinated chicken. It's drenched in lime juice, olive oil, and sumac and always tastes delicious. The atmosphere of this hookah lounge is great because it's outdoors, the tables aren't too close together, and the music isn't extremely loud either. At first glance this place has potential.. its extremely dark and has a real "night club" vibe to it. Wouldn't call it a restaurant.. more like a hookah lounge. There is a one drink minimum per person(meaning if you don't order something your server will bring you a bottle of water that costs $5)..and they have a full bar. If you want a mixed drink you need to request it from your server because there are 0 listed on the menu.. I ordered a mojito, cost me $10 and it was a pretty decent size, yet I could hardly taste the alcohol in it.. I guess our main issue was the service.. the waitress is cute and all but she was extremely ditsy.. forgetting a lot of things that we had ordered.. and not paying too much attention to us..especially about the heat issue. My party and I had found out a way to keep cool ( by literally wiping away our own sweat) and she took that away from us! (our napkins) not cool... Once we were ready to go we asked for the check and it came out as if the printer stopped working...we asked her for a clear copy because not only was it pitch dark but the ink on the check was worn out and barely visible!!! She agreed to reprint BUT with attitude.. -______- I'm not surprised she was acting so nonchalant towards her customers.. gratuity is included in the check (18%) for all tables over $70. The hookah was pretty decent though we got a nice mix of Ambrosia and Mint..and the coal runners were very attentive to us. I will most likely go here only if Cafe O (right next to it) is packed...and remember to NOT order any food. Went here last Saturday night, Feb 9th around 8pm. This was a great venue. The food was good (the caprese pizza was especially excellent). The hookah was packed well and lasted for a while. That's the end of my good comments. The service was the absolute worst I've had in a long time. I've been a server for the better part of a decade so I'm the first person to defend a server. Sometimes it's not their fault. In this case, there was NO excuse for how little of a crap our server gave about being there. We wondered how someone could just ignore a table for such a long time, then we got the check. They automatically add 18% gratuity. That explains EVERYTHING. What a ripoff! Seriously, we had to literally go up to the server to give her our check and ask for our boxes for the THIRD time before we could get out of there - That's just a small sample of how many times we had to ask for drinks/food/everything because it would just never come. They never checked on us. We always had to flag someone down. It wasn't very busy either. So that's not an excuse. Also, hookah is WAY overpriced. At least the hookah attendants are on their game. They drastically outshined our server. There are a million hookah bars in the Valley. Unless you want to spend extra money, have deplorable service from a server who clearly doesn't want to be there and in general get shafted, I recommend you hit up ANY OTHER PLACE BUT THIS. Seriously. DON'T GO HERE! The bad reviews are right. The good reviews are the ABNORMAL experience. You'll thank me. I'm really disappointed. Enough so that I really don't think i'm going to come back from a long time--if even at all. Despite the mediocre rating and review I gave Gitana only a week ago, I decided to give them one more opportunity, and they only made me regret it. I had planned a "Goodbye" party for myself and my coworkers (which majority had never even heard of Burbank--go figure) to meet up here and celebrate together. So I called the day of and spoke with a man who answered the phone as "Mike". He promised me "I'll reserve a table for the 10-15 of you, don't worry i'll take real good care of you!". So I came, I told them I spoke with Mike, and they took me to our table which were these big red couches inside that were roped off. Aesthetically, I was very pleased and the seating situation and had high hopes for the night going well. First we ordered a hookah--terrible, it was burning from the second they set it down for us to smoke. The charcoal guy even noticed during his rounds that it wasn't packed correctly and ensured us he'd take care of it; needless to say that never happened. When a few of my co-workers arrived we decided to order some drinks (beer, a margarita, tea--nothing too fancy). It took them about 40 minutes to get the drinks out of us and still the hookah guy was no where to be seen. Finally an hour later he shows up claiming "Sorry I have to charge you $5 to fix it." Fine, whatever, fix it. An hour passes--nothing was fixed. A few more coworkers arrive and order some drinks; 45 minutes pass--they hadn't even brought the coke one of the girls ordered, honestly it's a fountain drink, what could possible require time with filling a plastic cup? Hookah guy STILL no where to be found. The last of my coworkers arrive and order some drinks--again beers, water nothing that really requires labor or time. Hookah guy finally shows his face with "Oh they still haven't fixed it? I'll be back" And of course that never happened. Another hour passes, and the second group of coworkers that had come still haven't been given their drinks that they now have been waiting an hour and half for. I keep being told the same excuse from the waitress that "Sorry we're backed up, sorry blah blah" and i'm not trying to be a impatient customer but honestly it's ridiculous to have someone wait and hour and half for a freaking coke. I don't care how backed up you are--hire new staff, seat less people? Of course another 45 minutes passes (Honestly I was there 9pm-1am) and STILL NO DRINKS. I really was livid at this point. I walked myself to the bar and told the waitress she can cancel any order we had made since the second wave of my guests had arrived. She didn't look happy--but honestly not my problem. Walked my way back to my seat and apologized to my guests. I asked for the check, when the waitress came and offered "waters on her" to make up for something? No thanks. And the Hookah guy actually had the nerve to show his face and offer that hookah he promised me at 10pm "on the house" which I reluctantly accepted. And yep--you guess it; he didn't come back and that hookah refill I was offered about 5 times never came in the 5 hours I was there. Of course the bill included 18% gratuity which was definitely not deserved. I sat there with a calculator and divided the bill among us and had to write the last 4 digits of everyone cards so I knew everyone would be charged correctly. Honestly Gitana you should be embarrassed, because I was for you. I had to apologize to my guests for your lack of service, when they all went through so much trouble to come out to Burbank and "celebrate" with me and half of them didn't even get so much of a drink from you. If anything Mike your manager that was MIA, shouldn't offer to take care of anyone if your restaurant couldn't even provide us the most basic necessities in service. TLDR; You won't be seeing me around until you guys learn to take care of your paying customers. read more

They are thief, I had 2 waters $3.00 each, 1 salad $11.00, and one chicken wrap $8.00, when my bill came there were only these 4 items but total showed $27.50 when I mentioned to waiter that my bill doesn't add up first she looked confused then she came with excuse that you replace fries with salad that's why they charge you $2.50 extra, it shows in our system but doesn't show in your bill only shows in total, I was like really this is the reason, first I ordered plate not wrap but you guys did mistake and I take it, on your menu should said there is extra charge for replacing side fries with side salad, and at the end it has to show on your bill, at last she said I can ask my manager to come and explain to you, it sounds like "I ask my manager to explain how we do fraud and even when we caught we don't admit it" read more

Ended up here on a random Saturday night - right about 9pm. Parking took a lot of effort. I kept having to play dodge-car with other cars doing 150mph in a parking structure. Very cool man, 150mph in a structure. Once we were seated, we were seated in other people's grill. I could reach over to 3 different tables and take their food. (Not saying I would, but giving a visual as to how close I was to other tables and people) Food came out average - a little cold for my liking. The server was doing her best to be helpful, but was overwhelmed by tables and requests. I am usually pretty understanding about this and understand that it isn't their fault that the restaurant is understaffed. I am NOT ok with having the restaurant add gratuity for 4 people to a bill. If you are at a point that you have to add gratuity to your bills then perhaps its time to visit your service and figure out why people don't tip. TFR read more

2 of my friends and I came to the restaurant yesterday and it was...... Ok. We ordered a hookah, 2 buckets of beer and some food. The food was really tasty. My favorite were the Kebbeh balls. They were very yummy. Once we were done eating, we decided to get the glass hookah (don't remember the name) and it was amazing!!!! So far so good right? Not exactly. The waitress hardly stopped by the table, the service was below average, specially considering the size of our bill at this point.... The only great service were the guys changing the coal, they are on top of it. We asked for the bill and when she brought it to the table, we were NOT happy with it. I don't know who told this waitress that it is ok to add an 18% gratuity on a table of 3. And I'm sorry but she didn't deserve a 31 dollar tip. I talked to her and told her that we were not ok with the added gratuity and that we didn't need her to tell us how much money she deserved as a tip. She said she'd be back with the new check, but never came back. Some other waitress brought the check and left it on the table with an attitude. She NEVER came back to the table, not even to say thank you, have a good night.... Nothing! We still left her a 20 dollar tip, even though at this point we were hesitant to even do that. The food is sitting out in warming trays all night. The food is already over cooked, and to leave it out makes it, that much more inedible. 2. So-So service. 3. It's really dark in side. For some reason, all the restaurants in Burbank, prefer to keep their restaurants really dark inside. This place is no exception. Perhaps, they're trying to hide something in the food?! well this was my first official hookah bar don't get me wrong, I've smoked hookah before, just always been homemade, never at an actual bar at first glance i liked the setup being mostly outside, tables, music, bar inside etc but then it went downhill from there first the music was crap! you would think for a 'hookah bar' where every patron is either Armenian or Arabic, they would play some middle eastern and Armenian music! but NO they have crap rap playing with crap dj remixes and radio edits like what! also the location was terrible once we sat down! upon walking to the lounge it seems nice, until you are seated and see that the place is right on a major street! cars non stop until midnight, annoying, takes away the relaxation! another annoying thing was that there is no "tap water" i asked for water as you would normally do at a restaurant, and they bring me a $3 bottle of the restaurant's own water! really? overall the hookah was alright, had a nice waitress, but it is away overpriced; $26 for a hookah? a single hookah? if I'm going to a hookah lounge to pay $26 each time...why wouldn't i just buy my own!? wellp, so long hookah lounges, ill stick to the homemade goods read more

Legit best hookah and flavor EVER! They introduced me to a pomegranate kiwi (dash of mint) hookah and I've been hooked every since! I love hookah and I've been all over and this is one of the best places for hookah and the waiters always seem to be very nice! It's safe to say, I practically live here. My boyfriend lives in Burbank, so when ever we crave good hookah and delicious food (which is all the time)- Gitana is our go to! Great service! You can tell everyone is really trying their best to accommodate you the best they can! Heather, Mike, & Araz show amazing organization and leadership! The whole staff is top notch! Yes, Burbank recently enforced a law which doesn't allow hookah inside anymore. So yes, sometimes there's a wait for a table outside. Simply make reservations ahead of time and you won't wait. (or show up after 1030, the wait is usually over) Problem solved :) UH MAZ ING food!- Chicken fattoush salad: not every place gets it right- this place has it down to the tee! Beef or chicken shawarma: finger licking good! Pizza's, quesadilla, burger's, wraps...you name it, they got it and then some! Great Hookah!- It's really hard to find a hookah lounge these days that actually knows how to pack a decent hookah. Gitana never disappoints. I pretty much smoke hookah 2-4 times a week, so I know a good pack when I see one. The staff is even great at recommending new flavors and mixes. Even if they deliver a hookah that doesn't satisfy your expectations, all you have to do is let them know once you've tried it, and they'll gladly re make a new one for you. Also, I love the fact that they are not cheap when it comes to hookah and its products. All of their hookah's are authentic Khalil Mamoon's or Lavo's, with REAL hookah hoses...none of that cheap PLASTIC hose sh*t, like other hookah lounges. This is a really chill hookah cafe with plenty of outdoor seating in addition to the few tables inside the cramped bar area. They serve kabobs, burgers, etc but most customers come for the hookah. Now hookah is a middle eastern practice of smoking shisha (tobacco dipped in molasses, which is a thick flavored syrup). It's smoked in a glass pipe that stands about 2-4 feet in length from the floor. It's usually smoked from a long hose that connects to the glass pipe. Charcoal burns the tobacco and carmelizes the molasses, giving a rich and sweet smoke. Damn, my lungs are gurgling from writing this up, lol. I personally own a hookah and know a good deal on how to properly smoke it even though i'm asian, lol. There's a one drink minimum if you choose to get a hookah. I'd recommend some fruit juice because it goes well with the sweet smoke from the hookah. The Gitana special uses fruit juice instead of water in the glass pipe and a special mix of fruit flavored tobacco which is really smooth. In general, this is a fun place to relax, smoke hookah, and catch up with friends. read more

Gitana's is really just average. The hookah is average. Food is amazing. It is always packed and you will always see someone you know or someone you know and want to avoid. Terrible customer service, but what can I say. Been coming here for 10 years. Never really expect much when I come here. The tea is the shit though, too bad they charge every time to refill. Came here for hookah only so I can't comment on the bar or the food but the place was very nice. I have been walking and driving by this place for years and never knew they had an indoors section which is pretty large. They have good hookahs and the pricing is pretty consistent with hookah prices within the area. The server was very nice and there was a pretty chill vibe in the place. I will come back and might try some of the food here too on my next trip. read more

*This review on Gitana is as only a hookah lounge* I came to know Gitana through an Armenian friend over a year ago and ever since it has become a staple. The hookah here is great. The coal runners are always fast, thorough, and attentive. Unfortunately the servers always have a bit of an attitude however. I can't recall a time when I've had good service here aside from the coal runners. Regardless, I really enjoy the atmosphere. They play a lot of old hip hop which earns them lots of points in my book and the patio is pretty large, so it's never a problem finding a table outside. Parking here is seamless as well. Gitana and Cafe O are connected to a huge municipal parking structure which is free, so that's a huge plus as well. My biggest complaint (other than the service) is the bathroom situation. Are they to code? I'm always waiting for the bathroom here which is profoundly annoying. If it wasn't for the great patio, music, and hookah I wouldn't go here. That being said, I'll continue to frequent Gitana and ultimately will continue enjoying it. read more

Hookah is very good here! The Pumpkin Pie hookah I had couple weeks ago was just amazing! They had a lot of stuff to choose from on their menus from hookah flavors to coffee and all that good stuff. I would go back any day. Down side for me though was that there was no air inside. I couldn't breathe I feel like I was choking. So definitely sit outside whenever you go. They should really open some doors up or something cause I couldn't breathe at all and my friends were saying the same thing but over all the hookah is great. Food is great. Service is great as well! I have been wanting to come to this spot for a long time and was not disappointed. I went for lunch and sat outside they have a really cute seating area. Nice tables , clean and plenty of shade and plants which I like. I ordered a lemon drop martini which was a bit high ($12) but worth it. I had the tabouli which was really good! I'm kinda picky about tabouli so I don't always like it but it was delicious. I also got a beef wrap and it was excellent. Seasoned perfectly. Delicious and healthy totally worth the price. The menu has so many options -will def be back to try more. Nice staff as well. read more

This place was okay. Let me start with their drinks. The tea I ordered tasted weird and no matter how much sugar I added it still tasted biter. Their menu prices is expensive and not with it in my opinion. If u like quite small places this is an okay place to go.
