I've heard about Giti Thai and the fusion of black and Asian ingredients and food. They play really good music. My server was busy but she was super kind. There was a 20 minutes wait. It's a small-ish restaurant with about a good 15 tables and a mini outdoor patio. My friend and I stopped by for the oxtail curry which they serve only on the weekend. There was about 3 pieces of oxtail and it was tasty. The food did not disappoint. The curry was nice and thick. However, the food did not come out hot. Our food came out quickly. So quickly that we received our food prior to our water, soda and wine. When we received our oxtail curry, they NEVER brought out the rice. So, we had to wait for the server, 10 mins after receiving the food, to come back with the drinks to then bring up that the rice never came out. When I used the bathroom, the drains were backed up so there was a bit of water on the floor and there was a stench. Food is good but the service needs to be better. I found street parking because the parking lot is small and wasn't available.

Went to Giti Thai on June 19 to support a black owned business, unfortunately it did not go well. Service was very slow, they were not prepared to seat us for our 7pm reservation until almost an hr later, and took almost as long for the food to come out. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken (it costs extra to have chicken) and when I received the food there were only a few tiny bits of chicken (which I paid extra for). I took out every piece of chicken to show visually just how little it was. The bowl of curry was 80% curry and 20% everything else (vegetables + chicken). It was very disappointing. It was also a bit spicy when I asked for mild. I told the waiter and he took the food back, they brought back another bowl of curry with slightly more chicken. It was very disappointing especially after a 2 hr seating/waiting experience... The Thai tea was also very bad tasting. Overall a bad experience, I would not come back.

Had been wanting to try something else here since my first visit weeks ago. Today I ordered the combination fried rice as well as the oxtail fried rice plate to share. The cashier again asked, "if I wanted it spicy". My response was YES. Let me just say that there was NOT one ounce of spice in either of my dishes. And I'm a little disappointed because I was ready to taste what I paid for. Not sure why they keep asking, but never provide the actual spice. It was also a little annoying that they list opening at noon, but when I got there at 12:10...they were CLOSED! I was told "today we open at 12:30". Kinda unprofessional, but I digress. Food was still good today, but I am curious how it would taste with the spice level that they advertise. Again...this place is not cheap, so getting what I ask for should not be an issue.

Decided to stop by Giti Thai since I was in town visiting and I have seen a lot of hype on social media. There's lots of parking in the back of the shopping center so I had no problem finding a spot. I was in a bit of a hurry so I wanted to order for take out. It was busy when I walked in on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the crab friend rice, Giti wings and the cucumber lemonade. I sat at the bar and waited for my food, there was another lady also waiting. They saw we were waiting a while so they gave us a few veggie spring rolls to snack on....that was very nice of them! The wait was pretty long...I could see that they had a lot of orders to get through. The food was still hot when I got back to my hotel room and it was so so good! The crab fried rice was so flavorful and had a good amount of crab...the wings were sweet, salty and sticky and a perfect compliment to the fried rice. I will definitely be back to eat inside of the restaurant!

Giti Thai is a black owned Halal Thai restaurant serving authentic Thai dishes with a soulful twist. I came for the oxtail dishes but was sad to learn it was already sold out by the time we got there around 6:30pm on a Saturday. The place isn't big, but they have a decent amount of tables inside and a small patio with a few tables outside. They also don't take reservations so we put our names down and waited about an hour for the next available table. We just went over to Somerville and had drinks at the bar while we waited. When we returned, our table was just about ready and they seated us promptly and took our drink orders. They offer Thai iced tea, soft beverages, beer and wine. We got a good variety of dishes: Giti Wings $14 worth a try! These were so flavorful, crispy, spicy and juicy. Yellow Thai Curry $18 with potatoes, carrots, onions and a bowl of rice. The curry was rich, creamy with coconut milk and spices, very comparable to other Thai places around. Drunken Noodles $18 the flat rice noodles with crisp onions, bell peppers, garlic, fresh Thai basil and cherry tomatoes had a nice kick and was also similar to what I've had at great Thai restaurants in Long Beach. Giti Thai's Spicy Swai $18 the Swai fillets were lightly battered and fried, paired with mushrooms, fresh bell peppers, garlic, Thai basilI and a bowl of rice. I thought this was a unique and flavorful dish. Giti's Garlic Lamb Chops $26 three perfectly cooked lamb chops were served with a spring mix salad, jasmine rice and drizzled with mustard ginger dressing. The owner came around and greeted patrons, which was a personable touch. I commended him on the flavors of the dishes and he said he got one of the best chefs who specializes in Thai cuisine. I also asked what led him to open a Thai restaurant and he said he surveyed folks in the community and this is what was requested. Brilliant strategy as the restaurant is clearly popular, packed and people are willing to wait to get their Thai fix!

Had a great experience at Gigi Thai and really loved the food here. The restaurant is located down the block from Somerville and the entrance is in the strip mall. There's a good amount of parking in the back or even on the streets. Came here for lunch on a Saturday with a friend. We had to wait a bit for a table but was sat but our server. Service was great and our server was attentive to our needs. The restaurant is great for any occasion. We ordered the oxtail fried rice and the lamb chops. Each dish was delicious and flavorful. The portions are huge and we were able to share each dish. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!

The food is five stars. The service I had yes started off good and then it diminished as the time went on. The food took a while to come out, that was not the end of the word. What was horrible was once we got our food, no one came back to check on us. We literally didn't see our waitress for over 45 minutes. I get it they need lunch, 1000% agree, communication is key.

My daughter again loves this place, so we came and she got Pad Thai, and then also Gita rice. Kinda of bummer they have AI answering the phone which is not good first impression. So we wasted 20 driving trying to get a a hold of a real person. Rapsady picked up placed our order. We had to wait about 40 minutes to get the food, and it seemed like a lot of people were waiting. So I'm going to back my five star down to four star. But my daughter really enjoyed the food. Tastes good. They have very nice artwork, and the manager came over several times and checked in on us and everything like that. But overall good restaurant. I did 4.2.

The food and staff were phenomenal! we enjoyed our oxtail curry-- I was so pleased to learn this was halal -- as a black muslim its so tough finding cultural foods i can eat, this blended my love for thai food with black influence. The place was busy but it was the weekend so i get it. I really hope this place lasts, the food is amazing and the place was intentional. the server was super attentive despite it being so busy. We will be coming back.

Came here for a midweek dinner and it did not disappoint. I loved the overall design and vibe--from the artwork to the lampshades, everything felt thoughtfully put together. The wings were on point: crispy, slightly sweet, with just the right amount of heat. I also enjoyed the fried rice and the curry lamb. The curry was a bit thicker than I'm used to, but the flavor was excellent. Don't skip the Thai tea--it's a must. I'll definitely be back to try more items.

I've only been to Giti Thai once, when it first opened some years ago and unfortunately I was not impressed.... but I decided to try it again and let me say I was impressed. I made a reservation and although this particular day they were short staffed; they exceeded my expectations. The staff was warm and attentive. One of the owners Brandon was there and he catered to the entire restaurant, he was gracious and humbling. Our waitress Rachel was a pleasure, she was being pulled in every direction but kept a sweet smile on her face and was always available when we needed her. The food was delicious, everything we ordered was great, but that crab fried rice was unexpectedly good; I had to order one to go. This place will remain in my rotation.

we ordered crab fried rice, papaya salad, BBQ chicken, pad see ew, crab appetizer and THEY ARE ALL GOOD. Delicious!! I repeat everything in this place is delicious!! Their papaya salad I can't forget- i have been to different thai restaurant- even tried in their country Bangkok thailand myself where they will use mortar and pestle in front of you squeezing all those spices etc whatever- but this one that they are serving... mama mia! it really hits that spice, juicy freshness whatever. Just try it. I can't explain enough. just try. Cozy ambience, clean bathroom and nice staff- Everything is perfect. Parking is at the back- valet and free if u go to their place. first time for me to give 6 stars - if I could. I HIGHLY recommend.

Service was great, restaurant is clean and has a warm black Thai feel with the art.. they had plenty of patrons in the establishment. We order drunken noodles, oxtails fried rice, papaya salad, chicken satay and a Thai tea. The drunken noodles beef was very tough we could not chew it. The ox tail dish was just okay, it lacked seasoning. The satay was a No! It tasted like they marinated in peanuts or something. The papaya salad was just okay, being part Thai I already know they wasn't going to get it right but it was good enough. The Thai tea needed to be a little bit more sweeter. My husband rated them a 5 but I gave a 6. We spent $105. The waitress took off the satay, which was nice of her.

Everyone in the family thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The restaurant itself was modern, clean, and the service was friendly. The only issue is the parking lot, which is extremely tight.
