Best sandwiches in Orange County! Right around the corner from my office so I go there too much. Globe Deli had been run down by some prior owners who didn't seem to have pride in their business. The new owners have completely changed that around. The sandwiches are delicious. Especially the hot sandwiches like the turkey Reuben, beef dip and tuna melt. Breads are so fresh and delicious; definitely not Smart & Final breads like many sandwich shops use. The meat is tender and flavorful and not from some mass producer. The turkey is real turkey, not some processed stuff. The owners work so hard to please their customers, are so nice and know the names of their regular customers. Globe Deli is a small, family run restaurant serving classic German fare in an innocuous location, settled directly behind Triangle Square in Costa Mesa. I've become a regular, going for a Friday sandwich every week or so. Thus far I've only ordered the Reuben because its my favorite sandwich and theirs is incredible. Everything is homemade, it's not a just a *good Reuben* it's the *best* Reuben. And I dont take my Reubens lightly. Their sides are equally fantastic and reasonably priced in 6oz to go cups for $2.00 each. I like the cold red cabbage salad - but if its not your thing they have a couple different great potato salads as well. The owner is always great and really warm with his customers. Fair warning, they're a small place and the foods to die for and it can take a little longer to make then your average place but they will take orders over the phone so you can pick up when you get there. As an aside, my co-worker who also thinks they make the best sandwich (his words "that I've ever had") really enjoys the Triple Decker. These sandwiches are large and very filling. If you are looking for German food, a classic style deli, or just a great sandwich - make this your next stop. You won't regret it. Family owned and operated along with all the yummy products and recipes that has make this place an international destination. I was there for the goulash, but left with cheeses and sausages, too. He gave me tasters of a few items which led me to getting two cheeses instead of just one. My son really liked the goulash. The turkey literally melts in your mouth (they brine/roast it themselves, I believe) and is so moist, not too salty. The service is excellent. --+Bratwurst: Fried Sausage served with potato salad and home made Sauerkraut and a buttered roll. Fried sausage tasted more like some kind of minced-meat hot dog. It would taste better when you barbecue it. The bread was dry with a layer of butter. Potato salad with celery was tasteless and the sauerkraut was bland. The mustard that goes with the Bratwurst is spicy and tasty. The mustard is the highlight of the whole plate. There were a lot of Dutch products, but the price is twice more than the Holland market at Bellflower. Just like Holland market, a lot of candies and cookies were expired. read more

Prost! Oh the ways I love globe. From the catered lunches we have ordered, to just stopping in for pretty much anything on rye. This is an experience long since void and so-cal americana, and is worth doing! A huge selection of meats, cheeses, a highly talented staff to make take away food, and involved owners that care about the customer experience. I could go on and on about the things you could order, and eat for another six paragraphs, but my best suggestion is that if you just want to dive head first in, go and let your eyes do the ordering, or just ask the staff whats good and they'll fix you right up. My top highlights are: The sauerkraut which has bits of bacon and other magic mixed in by far the best in so-cal I usually take 2 pints home. The brats for take home to cook with family and friends, don't pick up those prepacked and processed messes from the grocery store, these are heaven in a casing. The Marzipan cake mix. By far my favorite specialty item to take home and make, make it in a bread loaf pan, cover in the packages included milk chocolate, eat it breakfast, lunch or desert with a cup of coffee, this is what coffee cake was meant to be! They really have a great selection. They can order special requests. They treat you very special. You can dine in and have food cooked for you. They even made my sister something they don't carry. The food tasted great. The quality of the food was amazing. They have a good selection of sausages, breads by special order and they have a nice selection of beer from Germany. One of the owners, Buffy, often creates her own amazing sides, dishes, condiments. The two that I've tried were extremely tasteful and unique. What did I just walk into.. this place was amazing. A def secret gem hidden amongst other little shops but it is by far the greatest deli I've been to. They play polka music, had an amazing German beer selection and knew their customers. I was greeted with nothing but smiles and stuffed faces.
