I loved it here! I had it bookmarked on Yelp for a long time and finally was in the neighborhood picking up a Freecycle goodie and decided to stop in. Walking up you could smell the deliciousness outside. Once inside - we were warmly greeted, and when we said we were new they kindly walked us through the menu. I had a cold bowl with beef and the hubs had a hot bowl with pork. The flavors were perfect and just like I remembered eating at the table at my friend's homes growing up. I was thrilled to see a orange drink I used to always grab as a kid when my mom took us to the Asian store, too. This was my hubs first time eating bibimbap and he is a solid fan. Good food, lots of different options in terms of veggies. I was able to add another veggie instead of rice (because I'm on a low carb diet). However, the cucumber kimchi definitely is not authentic, it lacks the flavor and hint of spice that real kimchi has. Overall, I would definitely eat here again. read more

I have eaten lunch here twice and it is a great and unique spot with tasty, filling food. The setup is, like other reviewers have mentioned, like a Chipotle with different meal ingredients. The staff is friendly and helpful. On my first visit I had the equivalent of a lunch box with rice, spicy chicken, mandoo (which is a dumpling), and kimchi. All were very fresh and tasty, and the food was more than adequate for a lunch. If I had any complaint, it was that the kimchi was maybe not as good as I have had at other spots. On my second trip, I had a BiBimBap bowl. You can add up to five vegetables, plus rice and a protein. I had spicy pork on this trip, and it was also very good. This meal was also filling and maybe a little more healthy. They have some good sauces on the table, including one that is very spicy but also very good. I'm a total fan! I travel to the richmond area on a weekly basis and I always try to visit Gogi at least once for lunch. This location actually has more options than the one on midlothian- spicy chicken for example. I love how you can create a perfect blend of rice and your favorite raw veggies and top it off with delicious korean bbq meat and a sunny side up egg. Yummm! I've been here three times right after the gym and I always get the bowl (which is the only available to go option). I've gotten the exact same one - brown rice, traditional veggies, spicy pork, sunny side egg with regular spicy sauce. AWESOME! Everyone loves this place. My son raves about it all of the time. It's cheap, can be healthy, and a welcome change from burgers and sandwiches. Gogi is a little hole in the wall and really is like a Korean version of Subway. You get in line, order your bowl with protein, veggies, etc. They stick it in an oven to heat it up and bring it to your table to eat. I wasn't crazy about it (something about the flavor put me off) but I love the concept. I may go back to try a different bowl combination. read more

This place is great! Bibimbap is my favorite Korean dish, and this place has the best around! It's sort of like a chipotle/genghis grill style. You pick the rice/veggies/meat, etc and they mix it up for you. The kimchi was great too, and only $1 for a side of it. I will be back! read more

It will crisp up the rice and keep your food piping hot the whole meal. I've had both the pork and beef as the meat, and both are good, as are any combination of veggies. This was my first time trying this place...after having the menu explained to me. I chose the hot pot with purple rice, spiced pork, carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, egg & bean sprouts. I enjoyed the hot ceramic bowl that was heated until I could hear my vegetables sizzling. My wife pretty much ordered the same thing except for her choice of meat..Beef. The beef was better! The food was good but not amazing. I was expecting more flavors and variety of spices. The meat seemed low quality cut thin and stringy. The rice seemed overcooked mushy even. The service was great, staff is friendly and food was fresh and came out quickly. I definitely would eat here again; I still want to try the other menu items. A great place to satisfy your bibimbap craving. They create your order right in front of you like subway. The serving size is generous and the price is very reasonable, less than $10 for entree. This review is only for their seafood soondobu! I've been consistently coming here over the past few years in the hopes that their soondobu will get better. Last week, I decided to give them another try for lunch and got just that. Finally, their soondobu with more flavor. This is probably the only place in Richmond that has decent soondobu and it's sad that it's kind of far from campus. The owner is always so nice and remembers your order no matter how many times you come in or what you order and you can't get better service than that. You get choice of three kinds of rice, 5 fresh veggies and protein. Then they heat it up and put an egg on top. It's sooo yummy. Very filling. I used the non spicy sauce which was a little sweet. What a roller coaster. Ordered using yelps grub hub. The driver delivered the wrong order to me. Restaurant and grubhub had no idea how to solve the problem Waited on hold at grubhub Restaurant called me and apologized. Guy said he would make it again and drive it out to me 20 minutes each way. I said it wasn't worth it for him and grubhub refunded my money. But the restaurant obviously told me to eat what I got. Now it was far less food than what we ordered but what we did eat we enjoyed much. I hope yelp and grubhub paid you guys because it wasn't your fault and the food was great. read more

Went here the other night with my family. And It was very nice! There was a TV playing a kdrama along with kpop music playing. I ordered the bibimbap box and got bulgogi and rice along with the kimchi. The kimchi is delicious and the bulgogi was hot from the stove. There is also a large selection of bottled drinks! One of my gripes about Richmond is that we don't have a great variety of Korean restaurants. I miss the cast iron Korean BBQ table top grills!! But Gogi BiBimBap does a pretty great job at satisfying my korean cravings. I came here on a nice quiet Friday night. The restaurant at the time was pretty quiet around 7pm. I ordered the bulgogi box with beef, white rice, cucumber kimchi, and pork mandoo. Everything in it was delicious! The beef bulgogi was full of flavors and so tender. The restaurant is nice and clean. I'm definitely going to add this restaurant into my regular rotation and venture out to other parts of their menu. Love this place! I used to live near the other location in North Chesterfield so was happy to find this spot near my new home. The family that owns this company is so friendly and helpful. For someone still learning Korean cuisine, that means a lot to me. I like the style of their menu with the assembly line ingredients, but until I'm more comfortable, I'm glad they can prepare something with the traditional toppings just by my asking. I usually get the Dol Sat because I love that crispy rice formed on the bottom of the bowl. Their hot sauce is so delicious! In my last visit, the owner was there and told me how they make all their hot sauce from scratch...that's a lot of hot sauce, but I'm sure it pays off. I noticed they're starting to expand their menu a bit, which is always a good thing. Our family has spent a significant amount of time in East Asia. Many of our best friends are Korean. Having eaten homemade Korean food in Asia, I can say that this is the real stuff. The kimbap and kimchee is just like my friends make at home. The bibimbap is hot and just right. Don't forget to add some spice (gochujang) if you prefer that extra "kick"! I usually get beef bulgogi, the white rice, the shrimp gyoza, and substitute extra gyoza for the pickled vegetables, as they aren't particularly amazing.
