Always loved the food here but the way I was treated by person behind the register is just so unprofessional and was so shocking. I called them asking if I can make an order for pickup on the phone since I know parking is very difficult in their area. When I told him what I wanted to order he said that food is ready and doesn't need to be prepared so it's not worth his time for me to order it on the phone and immediately hung up on me. I called back stating that I eat there at least once a week and that I would pay over the phone since I'm just trying to avoid getting a parking ticket since there's no parking. Very good food! I got the chicken shawarma plate. It initially didn't look amazing, but the taste was great and everything in the plate fit well together in terms of taste. The chicken wasn't dry and had great flavor. My partner got the falafel pita, and he said the same thing about his meal. It looked underwhelming at first, but everything about the taste and the actual ingredients exceeded expectations. I love going here, especially on late nights when you get really hungry. If you are looking for authentic Israeli kosher cuisine, I highly recommend Golan Heights. My favorite dish to order is the schnitzel lafa, but I also really enjoy the shwarama, and the falafel is fantastic as well. This is an incredible Kosher location for authentic Falafel, Shwarma, and Schnitzel. The place will get mobbed especially during lunch time with Yeshiva U students but its so well worth it. If ordering anything on a pita request it with the 'hummus and chips' it will really increase the overall taste. I've never have eaten in but instead recommend taking everything to go. I would recommend not getting the 'plate' dishes but instead getting it on a pita or laffa. It will save you alot of money considering Kosher food can be quite expensive. read more

Small Israeli/Middle Eastern kosher meat restaurant next to a major Jewish university. The food is great, the service is fast and it is fairly reasonably priced by kosher standards. This establishment is small, kind of dingy, and has, at times, a surly counter guy. It also has the best schwarma, hummus and salads of any Israeli-style restaurant I've tried. The salad bar is always super-fresh, the hummus is creamy and tasty, and the chicken is almost always perfect. The pitas are usually placed on the grill before being served and it makes it just that more amazing. Laffas are gigantic and you can easily make two meals out of them, so that somewhat offsets the higher prices. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a really tasty, filling meal that can also be really healthy. read more

We tried this Israeli restaurant yesterday in search of Mediterranean food. Restaurant looks very much run down in appearance. Restroom was not clean. But oh dear God, food was delicious. We ordered kufta, flafel, chetzi chetzi and beef shish. And each bit of each dish tasted incredible even though the dishes were very simple in their looks. Beef could have been cooked somewhat more. Golan Heights is Kosher, facing Yeshiva U, has very good comfort food. I really enjoy the freshness! such as the laffa bread, pita and all their salads. The shawarma is delicious , try their sweet and sour chicken and the Zingers! This place serves generous portions and I hope they never change that !! the boss/ manager is very warm, welcoming and prices pretty fair. On a downside... I just wish one day they work on renovating the place along with all the wires hanging out instead of patching up the walls with layers of paint. read more

Ive eaten here since i came to YU 5 years ago this place is a staple in every YU kids diet i can tell you that. Get the Chicken Teriyaki in a laffa its my favorite also the burger special is great. The first few times we picked up food here was good. Reasonably priced no frills kosher meat option if you're in the area. Picked up food the other day they left out a few items I paid for. The food it self was awful falafel was dry and seemed like it was fried in old dirty oil. The chicken was so dry and greasy. Pretty much everything ended up in the garbage. Easily among the best Israeli street food in NYC. Living in Washington Heights, fans of middle eastern food like myself have literally no options. When I discovered this place in my hood (shout out to Eating in Translation), I immediately went to check out and I can say without reservation, I was NOT disappointed. Since discovering this place less than 3 weeks ago, I have been back 3 times and just writing this, my mouth is watering as my brain says; "You need to go back again soon." Its located right across the street from Yeshiva Univ, so i quickly discovered that the place gets quite busy there around lunch time with students. I recommend the Schnitzel, Schawarma , Falafel - all excellent. Get all the toppings you like, but do not, I repeat, DO NOT miss the eggplant. It is a revelation, an manna, a virtual explosion of layered flavor in your mouth. Avoid this place at your own gastronomic peril!!! Worth the trip uptown for excellent kosher Israeli grill. Try the lafa, it's huge (even for lafa standards)! All the meats are great, good selection of Israeli salads, humus, tahini, harif, many other types of sauces. They even have cholent! Better than any Israeli shwarma/falafael place in the city (Azuri cafe, Olympic, etc) and I've tried them all. Prices reasonable and big portions for the money. read more

The felafel is very good, big and green on the inside, and the pita was soft and warm. Next time I go I will know which of the condiments have flavor and which don't. The felafel is a huge step up from food cart felafel but the salads are not on par with the felafel salad bars in Israel. A great cheap bite. read more
