To keep is somewhat short &,sweet, the service was - subpar. I felt basically rushed to order & the guy was being weirdly "moody" with me. It was around noon, so they weren't about to close. I ordered my combo plate - they shlepped it into a box right in front of me, threw it in a bag & I turned around & walked out. One of the weirdest experiences I've had ordering a meal in a very long time. There was a wrapped & half melted pad of butter they threw into the hot box & it got all over my food - no complaints haha! That being said, with the quality & portion for the price, they can afford to treat me like they're running a NYC deli & they ain't got no time for a girl with questions about the menu (it is a fairly extensive menu). I should note that I was 1 of 3 people in there & the other 2 people were already eating. As soon as I walked in & still standing at the front door the guy yells out to me "are you eating here or to go?!?" It caught me off guard - I wasn't sure he was talking to me until I made eye contact with him. He told me to grab a menu off the counter & I sat at a table to look it over. When I got to the counter, It felt like I was ordering something off the black market lol! But honestly, the brisket is *chefs kiss* & so are the fall-off-the bone, perfectly smoked & seasoned pork ribs. The potato salad is some of the best I've ever had in my life & even the cornbread muffin was perfectly flavorful & moist. Give me top-tier food like that & I'll make do with questionable customer service. I find it difficult to get good bbq, especially smoked ribs. I smoke ribs myself, and few restaurants live up to that level of expectation. I'm happy to report that the ribs I got from Gold Beach BBQ were very good! They were falling off the bone, but not to the point of disintegrating. We found this place right on the 101 highway. Staff were exceptionally good and took care of every need ( we were a huge group). We had almost all smoked items from their menu. Brisket is a must try. Tri tip, smoked chicken , ribs were amazing too. Pulled pork I felt was bit off and didn't hit the mark. Not sure if it's just random as we ordered it seeing multiple good reviews. This is our 'go to' BBQ restaurant on the Oregon Coast. We ordered the Ore Cart sandwich and split it plus we both ordered sides. If I wasn't gluten intolerant, I would have ordered the Mac & Cheese. Really fantastic bbq! I rarely get bbq out because not only did I live in Texas for a while but I also owned a bbq restaurant for a time. To say I'm a tough critic of bbq is an understatement. But I woke up this morning overwhelmingly craving bbq. I got the 3 meat sampler to go this afternoon. I am absolutely blown away with how good everything was. I got the brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. All of the meat is expertly smoked and seasoned with the perfect balance of smoke flavor, sweetness, and spice. All the result of excellent technique and understanding of spice. This is the real deal. The ribs were thick and cooked perfectly. The brisket was flavorful with a wonderful bark and a nice smoke ring. The pulled pork was shredded juicy meat heaven. The mac n cheese is unique and really good with the addition of what tasted like smoked jalapeño maybe? Not spicy just a wonderful elevation of flavor. I also ordered a clam chowder and I have to say it's one of the better chowders I've had on my PCH road trip. Wonderful clam flavor balanced with the right amount of potatoes and bacon. Really delicious. My the time I got to the candied bacon cheesecake I was so full I could only sample a forkful but it was beyond delicious. Next time I'll try to save some more room. I knew I was ordering too much food and now I'm so glad I did. I'm looking forward to enjoying leftovers! Great food, friendly customer service. Bonus that they support the military. We were there 10 days ago with the recommendations from our local B&B owners. We were not disappointed. Very relaxed setting. We loved the deco with dedications to the veterans. Went here on our last day visiting and got the best clam chowder!! Thick chowder, thick clams. Paprika on top. INCREDIBLE. And way better than another place we had tried in gold beach. It was cooked fat cap up and was cut too thick so it didn't render down leaving no crust. The food must have been packed in the smoker too tight as I had to look hard to find any smoke ring. There was an 1/8" on one side. Just too well done for my liking. Pull pork had a texture of being blended but tasted decent. Ribs were very good and I'd go back for them.
