I'd never thought I would dislike Chinese Food this much, I seriously hope that the owner reads this review! I ordered Orange Chicken, asked for steamed rice and I was told it's extra, so I said it's no problem! Total came to be $15 I was ok with it because I was expecting good fresh food! I got to my work and started eating it no more that 4 minutes after it was handed to me, I'm telling you, that food was sitting in the fridge for days, they re-heated it in the microwave and gave it to me. That's how they do things I guess since a couple people at my work said the same thing and that's why they all stay away from this place, I've also heard that new owners took over this joint years ago and it's been trash ever since. As I was eating my chicken they chicken was very very dry, no sauce at all. I was very disappointed and started to mix the chicken to look at it q d my surprise was that there was some sauce on the bottom and not only that, it was cold!!! How can that be?? The only explanation is that they make large batches of food and refrigerate it to reheat it whey the costumer calls in! It's not acceptable, that was the worst Asian meal I've ever had. The items that we usually buy were awful. The shrimp chop suey was horrible, the pork foo young(sp) didn't even look like egg foo young(sp) it was awful!! Been coming here for years. They've change the menu a bit to adjust to modern times but still awesome food.

Large portions of food, the Chicken pork ribs and cashew chicken were perfect. Egg flower soup was delicious and the egg rolls are the size of burritos. Booths allow you to have a private meal, and the service was superb. Our waitress was friendly prompt and spoke well and kindly with our children, much more pleasant than our last experience here. Came here a while back. I always use to eat here as a kid with my parents and brothers. I haven't been here in a few years. I had great customer service by the server fast and friendly. The food was good but they put a spice that gives the food little bit of a sour bitter taste and smell but other than that, everything was great. I'm not sure what happened to My Favorite Chinese food spot the infamous "Golden Chicken Inn", but when I called to place an order I was in utter disbelief.. not only did the menu change, which is understandable - but they no longer have there notorious combo #1 - 4 , but also removed their most popular dishes like Almond Chicken & Chicken Chop suey, even removed Cashew chicken dishes, which to me was one of there best, No more BBQ Spare Ribs . When I called and heard this I was definitely saddened. Also when the nice lady that answered the phone advised what was available and that I could get a side of Macaroni salad with my order I almost choked. It's Unfortunate that my favorite Chinese restaurant was no longer serving the dishes that make everyone coming back for more. I understand as a business sense change needs to happen but don't remove you best attributes and best dishes that have people coming back for. I come here many times when I am in Oxnard. My husband and his family have been coming here for years. Monday's they are closed. Service is good, never had any problems. The price is pretty descent for the amount of food they give. We always have left overs to take home. The place is clean and I love the private booths they sit you in. Parking is difficult, no parking lot so expect to park outside and possible walk. The restaurant is located on the second floor. The food is pretty good. To be honest I love love their BBQ ribs, I am always craving them when I go to Oxnard. They are are perfect size and very Juicy. I also like the egg flower soup that they give us in the beginning. Wow what can you say about this place .... but good all the time I go ... this is the only place I try to frequent constantly when ever I am craving chinese food.. I always get the same items which is there pork fried rice and beef chow main. Just straight out goodnesss and there egg rolls are not like the ones you are used to . There twice as big and good. So we finally decided to give the new owners a 2nd chance, the food today just made us miss the old owners so much more we were Disappointed again! Ordered food from this place and was extremely disappointed. Fried chicken wings was too heavily battered with no taste. Their crispy chow mein was awful. They use the wrong crispy noodles that doesn't get soft with the gravy plus they over use bean sprouts and not enough other vegetables. It is not Hong Kong style chow mein. The crispy noodles they use should go on salads not in chow mein. Pork in the sweet sour pork didn't taste good. Using cheap pieces of pork. Also the portion was very little with little bell peppers and no pineapples and carrots at all. Fried rice was too dark and very salty from over use of soy sauce. Egg roll is the weirdest I've ever seen and tasted bad. It's not round and crispy. Again over battered and greasy! I recently got a few, old time favorite dishes. Parents started coming here since 1956, at least. That being said, this last visit was just not good. The plump Egg Foo Young was flat disks with way too salty and very dark brown sauce. Not even close, to how they have always prepared them. The BBQ Pork was good, but on the dry side, bummer. Chinese Fried Chicken, again on the salty side, and on the dry side. The Bok Choy was good, a little too saucy, decent. And to end it with Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings, lets just say, way too much batter and some pretty meatless wings. Sauce was standard, but good. I don't expect the exact prepared dishes, but through the decades my family and I have been eating here, thus was a whole different world. Very heartbreaking. SUPER DISAPPOINTED! Haven't been here in years. From what I remember the food used to be great. Went today for a pick up, the chow mien was super watery. The orange chicken was super soggy. Fried rice tasted burnt and the serving was small. Beef and broccoli was watery with no flavor. Beef was super chewy. Our family basically tossed the food, Thats how bad it was. I have been coming here for years!!! This restaurant holds a special place within my family. I heard they had changed owners from the owners who had been here for the many years that I can even remember! I was a little skeptical, but they did not disappoint! We ordered our meal and it arrived pretty quickly. We never had to ask for a refill becuuse the staff was always very on top of it. Sad day in my life today 12/30/2022. I have been coming to this place for yearsssss. My dad first brought me to this place when I was 7 years old. We kept coming and I eventually started coming with my own family. Everyone loved GCI, from my oldest 18yr old to my youngest 5yr old kid. Coming here and always ordering the #4 combo for 6 people was a tradition and now it has died for me!!! We went today and found a whole new colorful menu, and we all looked through it. So we said WTF is this?? We asked the waitress where's the old menu or can we just get the combo #4 and she said the old menu is done, new owners and she said we have a different combo menu...she brought it over and we stare at each other and said nope. We apologize and said we wouldn't be eating here. I got up walked down those stairs, thinking to my self WoW this will be the last time I walk these stairs.
