Very delicious Spanish rolls!!! My daughter and I were shopping in Ross, we were so hungry. So decided to get some Filipino bread. We had no clue what we were ordering. All I'm gonna say is that I came here recently with a friend because she desperately wanted to get some takeout. This one person helped us, and when we got to the checkout line, another girl came up next to her with a tablet or phone and was showing her some stuff. On my way to the door, a filipino couple walked out with their purchase and two men wearing long sleeve fluorescent shirts sitting outside on the table eating. I walked in and have two people sitting inside eating and only one lady in line already being helped. There were more than a handful of ladies working and none of them bothered to say hello or even acknowledge me. I didn't mind because that is what I expected. I was looking at all the delicious Filipino food while waiting. I was approximately waiting about 5 minutes and then 3 local people walked in and one of the ladies (worker) helped him! I was so shocked! She clearly knew I was standing in line waiting to be helped. I stood there and then about a minute later, I told the gentleman that I was in line before him and I don't know why she (the worker) helped him instead. The gentleman apologized to me as I was walking out. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND ABSOLUTELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I waited patiently for about 10 minutes while other customers in line after me purchased items and left. No problem as I thought my order is going to be fresh. While waiting I finally notice a bag of pandesal and a box of Spanish rolls. The lady behind the counter puts the order together and looks at me confused. So I tell her I'm waiting for my dozen pandesal? She speaks Filipino to another lady behind the counter and proceeds to put the bag of pandesal in the bag with the Spanish rolls on a shelf behind her. I tell her if I have to wait longer, just give me back my money. She then takes the pandesal out and hands it to me...with no thank you for waiting, sorry about the confusion. Nothing! Customer service here is ZERO. If you're used to being treated rudely and no communication this is the place for you. Disorganized. Discontent. Very very upset customer. I went in on New Year's Eve to pick up an food order for my Mom. When we got there, my mom told me it would be under my name. I told the person waiting there that my order is under my name. She was scrambling through recipes that were so out of place on a wall and said that there was nothing under my name. To be safe, I also mentioned my sister and my moms name just in case it was mistakenly but under their names and I wasn't surprised, the worker still could not find our order. Came here for dinner with my family, and prior to entering the restaurant,we had to check in on Yelp, and read the reviews that was previously posted. Despite of what we read, I am one to always give a place at least 1 try so I can experience it for myself, but since reading the reviews, I walked in with kind of a "salty" feeling/expectation. To my surprise, everything I read was basically the total opposite lol. Golden Coin is located in the Lau'Lani shopping center in Ewa Beach, and right next door to Ross, and Sprint. Upon entering you'll notice a 2 tables with seating for 8 located directly outside of the restaurant. The restaurant is fairly small with only 3 tables with seating for 10. There's is also a display case of different ala carte 8tems. They have all your typical filipino dishes available at other Golden Coin Locations. (If you've been to one, you've been to all of them). As we were about to order, the server was very helpful with answering the questions we had, and even suggested a few of their favorite dishes. My wife and I ordered 2 plates with 2 choices each. Portion size are resonable, and enough to fill anyone up (unless you hangry). We ordered Kare-Kare, (beef with peanut butter and veggies), Igado (beef with liver, and bell peppers), Pork Guisantes (pork simmered in Tomato sauce, and vinegar), tocino (sauteed pork marinated in sweet and sour sauce), as for our starches they allowed us to split our starches with rice and noidles, so we ordered Pancit Bihon ( bean thread noodles),Pancit Miki (fried noodles), and fried rice. My wife and I, along with our 3 kids were able to share the 2 plates with 3 veggie lumpia, and 2 shanghai lumpia and was able to leave the restaurant more than satisfied. They also have pandesal, Spanish rolls, halo-halo, and tons of butter mochi, and casava cakes just to name a few. I'll just say that they have whatever filipino desserts you can possibly have the craving for. I personally have not tried them yet, but will definitely return to indulge in some. Overall our experience was good, and can only say that I'm pretty sure we will encounter some bad service in the near future. Did not understand why the rating on the Golden Coin restaurant in Ewa Beach was so low. Until now. We normally just get breakfast plates from there and they have been pretty decent. Occasionally we get some Lechón or Pandesal, nothing special about them, they are OK. But yesterday New Years Eve we couldn't get Max's as they were booked and not taking anymore orders. It was down to crunch time and we needed Pancit (Long noodle = Long Life). I pulled up around 6:30 and the line was out to the parking lot. I took this as a good sign that the food was quality. After 30 minute wait I was able to get in the store and grab the last pan of Pancit and ordered two large Kare Kare. A bit over priced ($36 for Pancit and $24 for Kare Kare). Got home and set up for our New Year's Eve dinner. The Pancit was OK nothing really to write about. But the Kare Kare was horrid, one container was all vegetables and the other all fat, the flavor was off, way off, like rancid off. Would highly not recommend the Kare Kare. Lesson learned next year we will put our order in at Max's early. And stick to Golden Coin for breakfast. read more
