Mothers Day dilemma!!! Now I know better. Especially on Mother's Day. But I really wanted to try this place because I've never ever been. Now my son and I got there at about 10 o'clock. I approached Alexa, the cashier who did not speak or understand clear English. That immediately pissed me off. I began to tell her, I've never been there before And she looked at me with a confused look!!‍‍ she didn't understand me. Because I've been in Customer Service myself for the last 20 years. I tried to be grateful, but she was dismissive, because she did not understand my questions. Quick to take my money but not give me instructions on what to do next. She should never be in the front of a business if she is not fluent!!! Now, on the other hand, as I turned to my left Mrs.Tresha, was an angel and disguised. She immediately calmed to me down because as a single Mother on Mother's Day paying $60 for me and my 17 year-old son to eat at a place where food with not really good at all. Eggs cooked too dam hard Bacon burnt Sausage undercooked Taco shells, stale Pancakes thin & hard Orange juice HORRIBLE French toast was good though Potatoes was OK ( loved the onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers on the side) Fried okra was OK Pizza was like frozen box (the cheap kind) It just was really mid!! Horrible service and food. Went for the first time last week, and it will be my last. Wasn't greeted upon entering or even reaching the counter to pay. The hispanic young lady behind the register had no customer service skills. No greeting, not even telling me this is the total. I don't know how this person even has a job. Upon walking in, the food and sections looked great! Open seating. The plates were scratched, stained, and the table wasn't clean either. I grabbed a little bit of everything, 3x from each section. Everything looked good, but tasted bland, and old. All the desserts were old, hard and not good. All of the meat, was dry, hard and old. The pastas were not good. Tasteless. The bread rolls, cinnamon rolls, were old, hard and tasteless. The only good things that were edible was the Icee, and beef stew. That's all. Walked out with a stomach ache too. Aside from horrible customer service, the food was horrible. I don't see the hype behind this place. I will never be back here again. Please take your money elsewhere people. read more

I have never been a fan of Golden Corral but the elders in my family seem to like it. This was my first time at this particular location in Bellflower. Whenever I go to one, it's in the City of Industry. I noticed right away the food they serve here is different. I'm used to having a Chinese food station, but they didn't have that here. And normally that's the only hot food I like at Golden Corral. So that was a bummer. Even the clam chowder soup I normally like tasted different like it was watered down. For desserts they didn't even have ice cream and the icee machine they had wasn't working :-/ The only thing I really liked here was the salad and crab salad. The hush puppies and peach cobbler were ok too. The place was packed and we had a table of 10 so they sat us in the banquet room. Our waitress , Maribel I believe, was really nice and kept coming to give us refills and utensils. She even took our family picture for us. Told the waiter I was going to step out to get my daughter her stroller, I stepped out and I forgot my key and when I come in, some old white lady (owner) of the location. Stops me with a HEY HEY HEY and ask where I'm going. I informed her of the situation and she proceeded to scolds me in front of a lot people that were waiting in line. Completely lost my appetite. Went to GCB&G on a Saturday for the breakfast buffet. A little over $24 (got coffee) including tax. The winners were the fried chicken (crispy and well seasoned), chicken fried steak and gravy (crunchy batter and nice creamy gravy), salad bar (very fresh greens and plenty of topping options) and the coffee (good mild blend). For breakfast potatoes, I liked the country styled the best. I preferred the bacon over the sausage. For eggs, definitely go to the omelette station versus the ones in the pan. The service was outstanding. They always were there to ask if I needed a refill on my coffee and also to see how I was doing. read more

Golden Corral is a great spot if you're looking to eat a lot without spending too much. My go-to plate was the pot roast, corn, greens, mashed potatoes with dark gravy, and some rolls. I threw in a bit of baked beans for a small touch of sweetness. I liked that it wasn't super packed, everything was clean, and the service stood out. We had dined at the Downey location in the past but wanted to try this one. A Sunday night at 5:30 pm - we expected it to be busy, and it was, but not a long line waiting to enter. We got our drinks and paid, and were seated almost immediately. As we were seated though and headed over to check out the food stations we realized we had come at the tail end of a rush. We noticed items like the roast beef carving station empty and not quickly restocked, and the line for cook to order steak was very long and slow moving. They are always the most popular. We finally got those items as well as all the other vegetable, fried and baked fish, chicken, salads and meat offerings. The hot food stations seemed a bit understaffed. The staff always works very hard and is friendly and helpful though. Not an easy job! The restaurant was fairly clean and not as old looking as the other location. Our busser/server kept our drinks refilled and empty plates removed. A nice touch was their huge tree in the center of the restaurant, decorated for Halloween. One of the staff told me their manager did all the decorating, for every holiday. Fun! In general, the steaks were quite fatty and gristly, and roast beef not seasoned, but otherwise the food was cooked and served adequately for buffet. The fried shrimp, baked fish, baked potatoes and were very good. There really is something for everyone. Their dessert bar is usually addictive, with pies, cakes, cheesecake, cookies, pudding and their yummy bread pudding. There is an ice cream station as well. This visit they also had a peach cobbler, but the crust and filling was not that good. The restroom was fairly clean, but in general we had a better experience at the other location, and may or may not return to this one. read more

Kids running and screaming! It's like a Chuck E. Cheese but without the games. The price is pretty steep around $28 per adult and nearly $20 for kids on weekends. Despite that, the place is always packed with families, and kids are running around everywhere, often unsupervised. The food is mostly bland, though there are a few decent options. I enjoyed the steak, meatloaf, and pizza. The dessert selection is big, and I really liked the Cinnabon rolls they're super sweet, but that's about as good as it gets. The rest of the food is either tasteless or just not good. The cleanliness is a major issue. It's dirty everywhere, the bathrooms are disgusting, and the staff barely pay attention to you. Overall, it's not an ideal dining experience. The only unique thing about this place is that it focuses on American food, which is rare for buffets most tend to be Asian cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food, service and the overall atmosphere at the Bellflower location was. My in-laws wanted to have Christmas brunch and I honestly was not too excited about it, but I think it was an excellent choice. Everything was fresh, staff were attentive and super kind. Staff were on top of keeping everything clean and clearing out the plates and on top of our drink refills without having to call anyone over. The food was hot as well which I sometimes find to only be like warm at buffets and why not a big fan of them, but this was such a great experience that I know we be back. Excellent wide choice of selection even for your pickiest eater or vegetarian. Something for everyone and wide variety of desserts to choice from. Went here for my birthday dinner. I was told that in order to use my Free Birthday Meal coupon, I will be charged for 2 regular meals, disregarding one of them as a Senior meal. No where on my coupon did it mention any of these restrictions. When the manager was called over, her solution was to eat now, paying full prices, and coming back another time to use the birthday coupon....with their same restrictions. Ridiculous. We visited Golden Corral Bellflower CA last week for dinner and everything was so fresh and the cuts of meats were excellent for dinner. I loved the Okra and seasoned greens and the delicious and juicy steak. We will definitely be back and this is our go to for a buffet style dinner. My wife has wanted to check this place out for a while now but we never got around to it. Since we were heading to Lakewood to see a movie anyway, we decided to stop by. The buffet was pretty average with the usual items. The quality was okay but nothing to get excited about. I will say our server that took care of our drinks was pretty awesome. I'm just watching the man flipping the Steak to get it to medium rare was mouth drooling. Besides the Steak, we have their Fried Chicken and yes, very crispy, flavorful and yummy. I was more focused on those two choices. Don't get me wrong, their spaghetti, meatloaf, and wok special was looking good too but I was more eyeballing the Steaks and Fried Chicken. I definitely recommend this location due to their outstanding customer service experience. Their parking lot is spacious and easy access. They have a restroom for your convenience. She is so personal and professional when she greets my wife and I. The Service that Kathleen gives us is top notch. My wife and I visit this location on a weekly basis. They closed several in Arizona they were filmed undercover and took spoiled meat and rolled it out by the trash cans in the heat until the health inspector left then rolled it back in, cooked and served it. One of the cooks filmed it undercover. If I was starving and they gave me food for free , I wouldn't eat it. They are going to kill someone with their food.... The last time there the soft serve ice cream soft served machine was out of service. today a month later the machine is still out of order. I took my kids there to eat yesterday for the first time in years they're on spring break and my oldest son wanted to go there because his Nana used to take him there when she was alive. Worse dining experience ever! Marlene, when you KNOW one side of the house has no air conditioning, don't sit customers in that area. On one side everyone was worn out, lethargic and quiet while on the others side everyone were jovial chatterboxes, smiling and enjoying their meals with delight! I went back and forth with the grill cook on what "slightly medium" meant only to end up with a piece of rubber for my steak. The fish was extremely "fishy in taste. I waited 5 minutes to get sweet potatoes while a worker and customer literally had a conversation about the only three items there then waited several more minutes while the worker wiped down the bar knowing I had been standing there the whole time. (Almost as if intentional provocation to see if i would lose it.) I did finally get moved to the other side but by that time couldn't eat because I was full from all the water I drank on the side with no air. The offer to moved to the other side was presented more like a threat than a consolation. Will never return to this is or any other GC. You have to learn what to eat and what to avoid at Golden Corral. First you have to know that you aren't getting organic, and admit to yourself everything have a healthy dose of the holy trinity (sugar, salt and fat). If you accept that and are inside you can actually find moderately health things to each. I can actually stuff myself there nd walk away without blowing out my blood sugar. We prefer to go after the conventional lunch rush window because we feel mose the food on the line has been turned over by the lunch rush and is more than 30m old ... a lot is as fresh a place that preps in the morning as relies heavily on frozen. What can I say...still love going to these american buffets even at my age...I'm just better at controlling my portions. The idea of making money running a buffet restaurant baffled me when I was a child growing up in IL...with everybody eating as much as I did, how did they turn a profit. We hardly ate out, and when we did, it was always to a restaurant that could provide VALUE...so Ponderosa was the ticket (Chinese buffets came much later), rarely ordering the entree but just focusing on their AYCE hot/cold salad bar. As much time passed, other competitors came like Old Country Buffet and Chinese Buffets. But one day, Golden Corral came near my childhood home where my dad still lived...and that became the meeting place for visits with his granddaughter. He loved the value of this place (since he insisted on paying for all of us), and loved to see the joy in my daughter's face when she got to get her cotton candy at the end. So that's what Golden Corral means to me now, and have been meaning to go for a bit. My wife (who had just visited a Golden Corral in IL for a memorial) and I finally made it for a Monday lunch. Our first visit to one in Cali: prices are a lot higher, the food doesn't seem as good as I remember (but how could it?), and still very crowded....but still a good value if you like a variety of dishes. We came during a popular time for graduation celebrations, so the line was long at 11:30, going out the door. We were in line for 20 minutes, it was single file with one cashier. It was obvious that she was controlling the flow of people entering to keep the number of people inside manageable...but as far as I could tell, she was pleasant to everyone. You must get your drink and then pay your entire meal ($18.49 for adult for lunch) before being directed to an area to sit. They did a nice job of keeping all the dishes refilled, but not so much in keeping the area around the dishes clean. It was lunch, so the grill wasn't manned, but still a large variety existed (probably 50 dishes or so). I liked the baked whitefish, pot roast (they are famous for this), baked chicken (not bad). Also got a full plate of salad, which I enjoyed. For soup, they have 4 varieties....the chicken noodle soup was good. For dessert, they have an Icee machine now, but it hadn't been cleaned for a bit. I'm glad they didn't have a chocolate fountain or cotton candy machine. I did grab a little self-serve soft serve on top of a very small slice of rich chocolate cake. The cake was good, the ice cream not so much. Yeah, it's a very popular restaurant for young kids, and as young kids do, they leave a mess behind...so the focus for the workers was keeping the food trays full. The inside at this location is HUGE, with multiple areas to sit...so it can hold a lot of people at once. They do have a separate party room that you can reserve, seating 60 people or so. In terms of service, I remark to myself how hard the waitstaff's job is, when I visit such a busy buffet, and am very careful to not ask for anything. Even the dirty dishes can be pushed aside as necessary to make room. But I needed water, so I walked to the soda machine in the dining room...it wasn't clear if it was self-serve...but a waitress told me she would take care of it for me when she noticed my hesitation. I handed her my glass, and then walked back to buffet for seconds. By the time I got back to my table, the water was there. My wife remarked that she had been very earnest and sweet when she dropped it off. It was just a very important reminder to still carry cash for occasions like this. read more
