    Serving station

I have never been a fan of Golden Corral but the elders in my family seem to like it. This was my first time at this particular location in Bellflower. Whenever I go to one, it's in the City of Industry. I noticed right away the food they serve here is different. I'm used to having a Chinese food station, but they didn't have that here. And normally that's the only hot food I like at Golden Corral. So that was a bummer. Even the clam chowder soup I normally like tasted different like it was watered down. For desserts they didn't even have ice cream and the icee machine they had wasn't working :-/ The only thing I really liked here was the salad and crab salad. The hush puppies and peach cobbler were ok too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was packed and we had a table of 10 so they sat us in the banquet room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress , Maribel I believe, was really nice and kept coming to give us refills and utensils. She even took our family picture for us. Although she's great I do not recommend this place and don't plan on coming back.

It was my first time and I liked it. Can't say there was anything that I disliked. Everything that I tried was good. So kudos to this place for good food and good service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went around 9am and surprisingly it wasn't packed or anything. Major plus in my book.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I really liked the cinnamon rolls. I ate like 4-5 of them hehe.

Went to GCB&G on a Saturday for the breakfast buffet. A little over $24 (got coffee) including tax. The winners were the fried chicken (crispy and well seasoned), chicken fried steak and gravy (crunchy batter and nice creamy gravy), salad bar (very fresh greens and plenty of topping options) and the coffee (good mild blend). For breakfast potatoes, I liked the country styled the best. I preferred the bacon over the sausage. For eggs, definitely go to the omelette station versus the ones in the pan. The service was outstanding. They always were there to ask if I needed a refill on my coffee and also to see how I was doing.

Golden Corral is a great spot if you're looking to eat a lot without spending too much. My go-to plate was the pot roast, corn, greens, mashed potatoes with dark gravy, and some rolls. I threw in a bit of baked beans for a small touch of sweetness. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked that it wasn't super packed, everything was clean, and the service stood out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My waiter even brought me a mango lemonade before I was done with the one I had, that kind of attention really stuck with me. I'd definitely come back again, and next time, I'm bringing a friend.

We had dined at the Downey location in the past but wanted to try this one. A Sunday night at 5:30 pm - we expected it to be busy, and it was, but not a long line waiting to enter. We got our drinks and paid, and were seated almost immediately. As we were seated though and headed over to check out the food stations we realized we had come at the tail end of a rush. We noticed items like the roast beef carving station empty and not quickly restocked, and the line for cook to order steak was very long and slow moving. They are always the most popular. We finally got those items as well as all the other vegetable, fried and baked fish, chicken, salads and meat offerings. The hot food stations seemed a bit understaffed. The staff always works very hard and is friendly and helpful though. Not an easy job! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was fairly clean and not as old looking as the other location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our busser/server kept our drinks refilled and empty plates removed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A nice touch was their huge tree in the center of the restaurant, decorated for Halloween. One of the staff told me their manager did all the decorating, for every holiday. Fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In general, the steaks were quite fatty and gristly, and roast beef not seasoned, but otherwise the food was cooked and served adequately for buffet. The fried shrimp, baked fish, baked potatoes and were very good. There really is something for everyone. Their dessert bar is usually addictive, with pies, cakes, cheesecake, cookies, pudding and their yummy bread pudding. There is an ice cream station as well. This visit they also had a peach cobbler, but the crust and filling was not that good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restroom was fairly clean, but in general we had a better experience at the other location, and may or may not return to this one.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came with a gift card $25 Had to get a drink so i paid an additional $6+some change for a total of $31 [[HIGHLIGHT]]The drink station is right at the front where you pay so its hectic if its busy which it was not a good spot to put a drink station just inconvenient[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I mean its a buffet. A majority of the food is basic, some things that stood out was the steak they "cook to order" which was super greasy but basic, their wings arent too bad, dessert is not good at all little brownie bites are way too sweet and the cakes are dry. They have some good choices but i was done affer some meat and veggies.. what i had: Plate1- buffalo and bbq wings Meatloaf zucchini Crab cakes Cabbage Collard greens Plate 2- steak med rare More wings Mac n cheese Hush puppies Fish fillet Plate 3 (dessert)- Brownie bites Chocolate cake (small slice) Carrot cake (small slice) Banana pudding Soft serve Servers that come around to grab your plates were real nice and attentive thats why i give 3 stars. Food is not good. I wouldnt come back

Do kids eat for $2.99 here? I have a Golden Corral coupon that reads 'Participating locations only.'

It's best to call to getting that information. Sometimes if you present the coupon once they are taking your order, they might be able to input the cost of the meal into the system.

Overall, it was a solid experience with a few standout items that will have me thinking about them long after the meal. First, let's talk about the service because it was AMAZING. Our server was kind, patient, attentive, and took the time to give us recommendations from the menu. Great customer service always makes a difference, and they definitely set the tone for a pleasant dining experience. For my meal, I ordered the catfish with mac and cheese, cabbage, and hush puppies. My friend went with the fried chicken, greens, red beans and rice, and cornbread. Now for the food review... The undisputed star of the show was the cabbage. Baby, that cabbage was GOOD! Perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and cooked just right. If you're ordering sides, don't skip it. The catfish was pretty good too. One thing I appreciated was that I didn't have to ask them to "fry it hard"--it came out with a nice texture and flavor right from the kitchen. My friend's fried chicken was tasty, and I especially appreciated the flaky, crispy crust. It had a satisfying crunch without being overly greasy. The mac and cheese, unfortunately, was a little mediocre for me. Not bad, but not particularly memorable. The greens were also just okay, and I could have done without the red beans and rice. One thing that definitely deserves a shoutout: they have bottomless mimosas! That alone makes this a great brunch or weekend spot. As for parking, there is a parking lot, which is always a plus. Just keep in mind that spaces are limited, and the restaurant is a little tucked away "in the cut," so keep your eyes peeled when you're looking for it. Overall, the excellent service, flavorful catfish, crispy chicken, bottomless mimosas, and that unforgettable cabbage made for a worthwhile visit. I'd definitely come back--and yes, I'd order that cabbage again without hesitation!

The inside was hot and thick and all of the meats in the case were vacuum sealed. They have a paper menu on the counter and sides listed on a chalkboard to the side. I thought it was humid in there but this couple came in after me and they were gushing about how smokey the air was so I think maybe I didnt appreciate the atmosphere for what it was. I got a brisket sandwich (add pickles) and when I asked about sides, he told me mac salad or potato with a preference on the potato so that's what I got. He then gave me a sampler of their smoked dips on crackers and I gotta say the chicken was the best one, but it was pretty expensive. I think it was like 22 dollars for 8 ounces, so I passed. While I was waiting for my food, that other couple came in and they were ordering a LOT. When they asked about sides, the guy gestured to the menu and told them all were available. I was like wait what, I thought (based on the time of day) they only had the two he offered to me. He was like, nah we have more. So then I put in a second transaction to get a side of their chili and red beans and rice. I felt a little weird about it because it was served in the same plastic containers as the cold items, but heated so the sides and lid were all suctioned in. Overall I thought the sides were delicious and service was very kind despite the previous lack of clear communication but my sandwich was just kind of whatever. Plus the menus didnt have any prices so I didnt know how much anything was until it was time to tap my card so it was a little $$$.

First things first, don't get this location confused with the *other* Long Beach location by the Marina or the Cerritos location, which is also by the 605 freeway. This Lucille's in LBTC is in one of the standalone buildings in the center of the ginormous shopping center. If you see either Original Roadhouse Grill or Ulta Beauty, Lucille's is just on the other side of the frontage road. We were a party of 9, so we sat at a table for 10 in one of the dining rooms. Ashley introduced herself as our server, and she was pretty good overall! A lot better than the last server* I encountered here. Very courteous and patient with us, and also punctual at getting us biscuits and apple butter. She started us off with drinks mentioning they had lemonade, unsweetened iced tea, peach iced tea, and watermelon iced tea. Other fountain drinks were available, and a handful of others chose the peach iced tea; I went with the flow, saying to Ashley, "I'm feeling peachy too!" lol. As we were perusing the menus, Ashley came by a few minutes later to deliver our drinks in mason jars, which I thought was a nice touch as it'd eliminate the need for refills; yeah those mason jars are quite large lol. Since it was lunchtime on a weekday when we went, it only made sense to go with a Lunch Build Your Own (BYO) Bar-B-Que Combo, where you can pick 2 or 3 meats. I'm not sure why, but online, they have an option for Baby Back Ribs with BBQ sauce, but the menu inside the restaurant did not indicate such an option, which was a little confusing. In any event, I chose the Tri Tip with Mop Sauce and the two Texas meats: Red Hot Sausage and Beef Brisket Sliced. A Lunch BYO Bar-B-Que Combo also comes with a side. The menu seems to imply that you could choose a premium side, but having already chosen three different meats, I didn't want to overdo it, so I settled for the sauteed seasonal vegetables. Actually, I didn't know what vegetables comprised the sauteed seasonal vegetables, but Ashley had no trouble spelling out the individual ingredients of that recipe. My co-worker sitting directly across from me ordered first, and she requested a Side Caesar Salad, which was an additional $6 on top of her two meat Bar-B-Que Combo. Before confirming the order, Ashley did mention the salad contained tomatoes, which I honestly would not have guessed that, so I do appreciate, on my co-worker's behalf, how Ashley was pretty thoughtful to bring it up before writing down the order. The Caesar Salad arrived first, like 2 minutes after I placed my order last in my group. For a $6 salad, it came in a rather sizable bowl that I'd say is worth the money. As an example, for $1 more at Chili's, you could get a salad that's not even half that size, so if you need your veggie fix, a side salad is the way to go. However, my co-worker mentioned that she didn't see the sauteed vegetables on the menu until I mentioned it, and she felt like she should have gone for the sauteed vegetables instead of the cole slaw. It took about 15-20 minutes for our orders to arrive. I was one of the last ones to get my meal, but it was only about 4 minutes after the first batch of lunches came. I found it interesting that I ordered both of the Texas meats, yet the server who brought my lunch didn't even mention the Lone Star State. When I received my meal, I didn't know about the Mop Sauce, so I asked Ashley about it. It's like a sauce that you can pour on top of the meats to add some flavor, but when I used it as a dipping sauce, it didn't really add much flavor. Good thing they have three bottles of barbecue sauce to use: Memphis, Original, and Hot & Spicy. I wasn't sure how geographically appropriate it would have been to use Memphis barbecue sauce on Texas meats, so I used the other two, which added more flavor than the Mop Sauce did. Each of the three meats, while not the best tasting, still had an overall satisfactory flavor profile that when supplemented by the Mop and Barbecue sauces, had my taste buds dancing at a moderate tempo. The red hot sausage didn't really taste red hot, even after I added some of the hot & spicy barbecue sauce. One of my co-workers commented that he's had better BBQ in Texas; I'm not surprised. We were also given hot towels to wipe our hands and faces with after our delicious meals. You could definitely do better elsewhere, but I still recommend trying Lucille's if you're craving some barbecue! * My last visit was shortly before the pandemic, but our server back then exhibited the demeanor of a drill sergeant that I didn't get to enjoy my meal nearly as much. Luckily, it was only one bad visit out of three, and with how much I enjoyed the other two visits, I'm feeling generous enough to give a 4th star here.

As a rewards club member I receive coupons and promos, so I do come back every once in a while! This visit, we arrived just before 5pm on a weeknight, so there were a few tables dining and bar full of patrons, so we got our dinner order in right before business picked up. Our server was upbeat and friendly. He brought the addictive biscuits and whipped apple butter right away, and our mason jars of ice water. By the time our dinners were ready - not long at all- we had devoured the biscuits and received another basket! The plates were appetizing. Not sure if hubby's fried chicken was supposed to arrive with the gravy already poured over but his was served plain and the server hurried off to fetch a little bowl of it for us. The al dente roasted vegetables were really delicious, a nice surprise. I had substituted rice for the garlic mashed potatoes in my steak entree. Hubby enjoyed his chicken; two breasts cooked nicely. He felt "grandpa's pan gravy" had no flavor or necessity though except to moisten everything. My steak was well done (ordered medium) and the chimichurri sauce was extremely salty and not smooth. I would have sent it back but we were on a time crunch and I had a special bogo free entree coupon so it was tolerable. The little warm washcloths for cleaning up is always a nice touch. We have tried many different menu items over the years. Sad to say , without the promos i don't think we would keep coming back.

As a remembrance of my dad's birthday, my wife, her mom, and I went to one of his favorite chain…read morerestaurants to eat dinner (after my wife and I had just gotten back from visiting our daughter). I intentionally chose a Golden Corral that we hadn't been before (we usually go to the closer one in Bellflower), and found that this Downey location didn't have the best aesthetics or service, but the food was on point. Gold Corral was already pretty busy when we got there before 5 pm. Dinner pricing was in play, costing $22.79 per person plus $4.39 for a soft drink. One stands in line to enter, grabbing your drinks from the self-serve soda fountain, and then paying the cashier. There was no option to add a tip, which was a bit surprising (since other food places that have far less service commonly add the option to their checkout process). Large sections of the restaurant were on reserve, but there were still plenty of places to sit, so was still on find-your-own table status. Once we found one, said hi to our server and went up. Two of the best things on the buffet were the golden fried shrimp (jumbo in size, nicely deep fried in a good oil) which were delicious dipped in their cocktail sauce (though each item were at opposite ends of the buffet) AND their freshly grilled sirloin steak. Once you get the grillers attention, he will fork over half of one, with the right level of doneness according to your request. Even though I was disappointed in learning that the steaks are now delivered frozen, they didn't taste that way. It was very good, as good a steak as I've had at any other fast casual restaurant, and certainly the best at a AYCE place. I tried their well known pot roast as well, and it was the same as before: really tender, going well with the accompanying gravy. I also tried their cornmeal fried catfish: quite good and not overly greasy. Good deep frying seems to be common here. Did notice they had fried chicken and grilled chicken available. Each table had paper napkin dispenser, and condiments like ketchup, steak sauce, and hot sauce. Other things I noticed were the self serve 3 flavor ICEE machine, self serve soft serve ice cream, and chocolate dipped fruits and snacks. What it did not have were two things that I've seen before at other Golden Corrals: a cotton candy machine and a self serve chocolate fountain. They did seem understaffed, as our dirty plates kept piling up and our drinks didn't get refilled. I was tempted to go to the nearby beverage station to just refill it ourselves, but the clear signage stating 'Employees Only' deterred me. My wife did get a server's attention, and he did clear our plates and refill our drinks...thus got a chance to use my 2 dollar bills before we left. We ended up only staying for 40 minutes, which would have disappointed my dad (who made it a rule to stay at least 1 hour at any AYCE place). But we ate well (my mother in law really loved the fried shrimp), which is what really mattered.

GOLDEN CALF, or Golden Corral?…read more Budgeters BEWARE. You follow your budget, by following your budget. By sticking to your budget, you have more for surprises and special times-later. If your budget is overflowing for this purpose, great, enjoy. We have eaten here before. It's a treat! But we definitely didn't want "expensive" if we were just eating out Sunday after church-and no after meal spending regrets. We tried calling to get to the bottom of things-they give a manager option, the phone was unattended, you just leave a voicemail? We could have saved a lot of time and frustration if they just answered their phone. I think they know that... I don't think that is their purpose, to be benevolent or available, and up front and honest by taking calls, to help people to genuinely decide in their best interest and budgets. If you read fine print often, or are good with word problems the menu should be easier. Charging us 50+ dollars when one of us is a senior, NO sodas or drinks? Well we weren't o.k. with that. The cashier just showed me what comes up when she hits the button-she should say that almost all, of the menu is for Mon-Friday Monday- Saturday- Sunday is the absolute exception. And we took exception to the price, my wife was like, "I wanna go to Norms," in the tone that no man who wants to live knows you don't challenge THAT voice, even kids know THAT tone. For a couple that in college we made $3.35 per hour, there should be Prime rib, and drinks incuded, and some SPACE-we needed to go elsewhere. To be clear and content? Sunday is their most expensive day, period, no exceptions. Their highest rates, probably stocked really well with the best they offer- For us, too much unless it is a special occasion, all the other prices are for OTHER DAYS, and other times. I hope this adds clarity, and conviction on what you need to do. This place is great for families with cash. At the time kids under 3 or 3 and under?-eat free. If they gave a discount on princess costumes, they would have to close up shop. :-) I saw two couples right in front of us, one after another leave who seemed to have figured out the word problem menu, (the older couple looked annoyed and disgusted.) Beware, The hype of the place sells it's product THERE, with pressures and high school tactics once in line, one might feel convinced, pressured, that there is no out, no other choice- there's always, No thank you. Where the line truly looks like a theme park ride line, no simple exit, moving fast-everyone wants on the ride, NOW- the funnel of craziness-starts here, noise and excitement abounds. Grown men and women learn to decide on facts not temporary pressures-if you can't afford it? Run. Saying no takes courage, and practice, but is a powerful maturing exercise, that can serve you and your family, your future- well. Humbling, and relieving, be wise when shopping for lunch. Again, If money is all flush-enjoy this place!-and consider Black bear diner too! It's pretty noisy and crowded, and that's usually not refreshing for me. We will come back during the week for a special occasion. We went somewhere more value based and had a phenomenal nap after decent prices. I will give an actual review of the restaurant, food and service- when we eat there
