My absolute go to whenever I want donuts and in the Elk Grove area. Staff is always welcoming and knows my favorite order (blueberry donut). They also are always experimenting with new flavors but never stray in quality on the classics. Make sure to go early though as they tend to sell out on busy days (Just a testament again to how good these are). if you can ditch krispy or dunkin for a day, make sure to give these guys a try and support their small business! After craving donuts and seeing all the awesome Yelp pics, I went out of my way to check out Golden Donuts on a Saturday. It was around 9 am and the shop had quite a few customers. This worked out well because I got to peruse the selection without feeling rushed. I got some maple bars, creme filled donuts and of course, cronuts. Let me preface this by saying I LOVE sweets. The sweeter the better. However, their donuts were too sweet for me, especially the cronut. I think it would have been perfect if it wasn't glazed. The combination of the donut glaze and the sweet whipped cream made their cronut too rich even for my taste. The same for the cream filled donut. I liked their maple bars and their old fashioned. I think in the future, I will stick to their regular donuts. What really won me over was the service. When I ordered, they only had one maple bar in their display. The gentleman who was helping me said he would bring out more maple bars in a few minutes. When he did, he put in two fresh donuts in my box rather than putting in the one from the case. When I paid, Amanda asked if this was my first time and when I told her it was, she introduced herself and shook my hand. She was telling me about their specialty offerings and invited me back. These small details really make an impression on me. Donut shops are a dime a dozen, but great customer service is something to look forward to. I will most certainly be back. read more

My daughter wanted a french cruller which all donut shops have since I was a kid. I went here for the first time at 6am. They didn't have any and some of display trays were empty. I asked the worker if they had any cruller. He said they only make them on the weekend. So disappointment. Not coming back or recommending to anyone. I went to JR Donuts next to Save mart. All display trays were full. They had French Crullers. They even had vanilla, strawberry, and etc. read more

To me, all donuts taste the same regardless of where you go to! Not until I came here! My hubby and I stopped by here one early morning and grabbed a donut. He had their chocolate bar and I got a plain twisted glaze donut. Ohhhh my goodness, boy were these donuts FRESH! They were super soft and a warm still. They have a variety of donuts to choose from. Honestly , there is nothing to brag about here. I woke up and later on looked for Donuts on yelp. I saw this place with high reviews, and it wasn't far from where my wife's Step Dad and Mother's House is. I drove there, and this middle aged Asian dude is at the counter. Not the best customer service. It's like he was trying to rush me. I ended getting 4 glazed donuts, two chocolate glazed, 2 cronuts 2 rasberry filled and 2 Blue berry cakes. (I'll get back to what I think about the ones I tried). I gave the man my card, and I guess he was a bit hasty, so when he gave my card back it was flipped or fell, but the guy said "sorry man";this guys just didn't have good customer service skills (he worked on October 2 2018). Now, for my opinion on the donuts. The Cronut wasn't bad, I am not sure when the freshest time to get their donuts is, but seriously, it's nothing to die for. The Cronut was crispy , it had that donutty consistency inside, and it wasn't bad. I then proceeded to try the normal glazed donut, and it was just your normal glazed donut. My family and I live in El Cajon (A city in the East County of San Diego), and at our local Vons grocery store, you can get a dozen for like 9 bucks (more or less). I ended up paying over 15 bucks for these donuts and if you want to know if they were worth 15 bucks, I'll tell you no. Number 1)The Asian guy's customer service was very below average. Number 2) Donuts were average. Do I recommend this place? Eh, probably not. I probably won't be coming back after today. Shhhh! This place has ham and cheese croissants! Yes, in part I want to keep that a secret because I want all of the delicious ham and cheese croissants to myself. The other part of me knows it doesn't matter because this place is super popular. Everyone seems to know how great this place is. So I've hit up every donut spot in E.G. near me and none of them had the baked in ham and cheese croissant I've been looking for, until I got to Golden's. Golden's had sold out of the ham cheese jalapeno and the ham cheese croissant. But what was left was one turkey cheese croissant. So I gave it a go and it was amazing! Ahhh! That flaky buttery croissant, with the gooey melted cheese. I also picked up a blueberry bread donut which was awesome. I think I can say the best I've ever had. Crunchy on the outside. Most blueberry bread on the inside. Just the perfect amount of glaze too, not very heavy. I got the hubs a cinnamon swirl. He said it was all right which translates into it's good. He's a lil nondescriptive lol. Anyway, I cannot wait to get back here. It's a little far out, 20 min one way.... I plan on showing up on a day during the week. It's an average Saturday morning and I had some family over. We wake up, finding out what we want and decide to come to this donut shop. How we ended up here I'm not sure but I'm so thankful we did! We came in by 11ish and there was still a good selection! The ladies in the front were soo kind; if you're stuck choosing which one you like they can help send you in the right direction! They offered to make the fruity pebbles donut in the back since they didn't have any in the front and then we chose a handful of others. One of them ended up being the cronut (croissant donut) and oh my lord! If you haven't tried one please go and get one now! They are so perfect and flaky and melt in your mouth goodness! Just left there and was underwhelmed to say the least. You would think that a business would be happy to have customers in these times but apparently not since we got really poor customer service. The older man who waited on us acted as if it was a burden for him to help us. We understand that they were out of just about everything we asked for (it was 9:30am on a Sunday), but it was the way he said it and how he seemed impatient with us even though there was only one person behind us. I was in search of cronuts after hearing about them on the Food Network. After using my go-to Yelp search engine, I found out this little donut shop makes them! I actually purchased cronuts for a potluck and they were a hit! Everyone devoured them! Everyone was surprised at how flaky, yet donut-y they were. I should mention that I purchased the donuts at 8 am for a 10 pm potluck and everyone still loved them 14 hours later. So imagine if they tried them right out of the oven??? I have personally tried the thai tea glazed and double chocolate glazed cronuts. They are flaky where you can pull apart the top layer, yet dense and donut-y at the same time. They're sweet and soft and pair so well with coffee or milk. This is my first time trying cronuts so I don't have any comparison, but I thought this place made them so well. Staff were great. They were friendly and helpful for a first-timer. I met the owner and baker and she was telling me her latest creations and what was popular there. Been visiting occasionally for a few months now before work and never plan on picking another restaurant. I'm always greeted in a kind manner and served almost immediately. Loved every interaction i've had thus far and to top it off not only is the service good but the donuts are as fresh as can be. They're always in stock of my favorites. First time trying this place came in at 10am on a Tuesday and it looked like most of the donuts were already sold. I got the maple, regular glaze, strawberry, lemon, and raspberry custard. Wow they are delicious. The donuts here are soft, good size, and the fillings were a lot which is what I love! Other places I've tried their dough is very thick and heavy. I love Amanda! She's so genuinely sweet! I came in at about noon and noticed that they sold cronuts as well! The cronuts on display are plain and they customize it to your likings (e.g. Chocolate, Maple) I absolutely love this concept because it's a lot fresher. They were so fluffy and crispy. The cronuts were delicious but I'd give 5 stars alone just on the customer service. When I came in, they had sold out of the red velvet cronuts but Amanda offered to customize a few of the plain cronuts into red velvet ones! I used to be a regular at baker's donuts before I discovered this donut shop, but this place just squashes them. Had my first cronut here - it was awesome! There were just four cronuts left when we got there at 10:30 this morning. Also tried the chocolate cakey-donut things and the bacon maple bar. I don't really see the appeal of the bacon on top but the bun itself was delicious and fresh. The only thing I didn't like is that the cream they put in the cronut wasn't fresh. It had the waxy-plasticky taste of long life or non dairy cream. That was a little off putting, especially in such a good donut. I go into this donut shop quite often, great donuts and great people working there. However, you apparently need to get there very early if you want your choice of donuts. I usually go between 930 and 11 and there is not much of a selection left to choose from. Attached are the pictures of what was available today at 10:30 when I went there. They claimed they were very busy today, but I have found this to be a regular occurrence. I get they close at 2 but they should have an ample supply of donuts up until almost closing time. read more
