If you can believe it, this place delivers--or used to deliver--all the way to the Panhandle. That's nuts! The first time I ordered delivery from here, I had no idea how far away it was and was frustrated by how long it took, but then I looked it up, and I no longer hold that against them. I've only had Indian food from here; I haven't tried the pizza. I would say the food is middling and a tad on the greasy side. I think I've tried all of the vegetarian dishes, and the saag paneer is the only one that is consistently better than average. The naan is good too, but I feel like you have to be a particularly bad Indian restaurant to screw up naan. Remember when the building was yellow? That's how I'll always picture it. It was a landmark to me long before I ever actually ordered from the restaurant, and it wasn't until a couple of years after that first delivery order that I realized it was the yellow place on Judah with the Golden Gate Bridge on its sign. Got sick. I order fish tandoori all the time at Indian restaurants and i am pretty easy to please. But this fish was off at first bite. I tried to eat a couple more bites thinking maybe I was wrong... but nope, definitely tasted wrong. Somehow your body just knows if something is rancid. Body magic. So I was bummed and I just ate the aloo gobi instead, which was fine. The Diet Pepsi was flat and weird. When my boyfriend went to pay he mentioned that the fish was bad. They just shrugged and am charged him for it anyway. Not the best service but ok.... We never haggle over stuff like that, but usually if something is so bad you can't eat it, I'd think the restaurant would at least not charge you. Anyway, two blocks away from the restaurant I thought I was going to puke into someone's yard, and that has never happened to me before! Maybe their pizzas are good but skip anything meat or fish just in case. It is probably fine for late night pizza munchies, but dismal inside for a sunny afternoon date. Chef recommended this plate and I must say super flavorful and not too expensive! They have so many options on their menu, looked to be family owned which I love!! This is a hella disgusting food, the service is terrible, the workers looked at us and didn't take their eyes off us, while they looked at us they seemed upset because they didn't understand what we were telling them in English, it seemed like it was, because in the end they had to call someone who did speak fluent English, when he gave us the pizza it seemed like they had thrown it on the floor on purpose, because when we got home with the pizza and he opened it. It looked as if he had been thrown to the ground. I don't recommend that place at all, they should even close it for treating people like that, we still feed them and they do that kind of thing. We came here around 2-3 pm. Their buffet was about to end, so we opted to order their infamous pizza. This was my first time trying indian pizza and I would have to say... it's delicious but I probably wouldn't order it again. Definitely worth trying, but I think the conventional way of indian food is better. It's basically their curries spread over a large round naan, topped with cheese. So when I ordered online since it was harder to screw up the order and got a confirmation for 45-60 mins. I called at 45 and it was done. When I arrived, the pizzas were just sitting there, already done for awhile. It wasn't hot like a pizza should be, just warm. When biting into the and tasting each, the topping were different with an Indian feel but the crust needed to be thicker to enjoy that flavor. One of the main reasons I love San Francisco is because of Mom & Pop stores like this! A few buddies and myself wanted to have pizza for dinner and decided to try something new besides the American style Dominos or Pizza Hut. It was our first time ordering an Indian pizza but we were looking forward to see how it turned out. Our experience was great! We had placed an online order which was very convenient since we had a bonfire a few hours earlier at Ocean Beach. The pizza was a custom made order. Love the freshness and how awesome the staff were. Have to mention, they don't only serve pizza here. The location is off inside a small plaza near a laundry mat and 7-11. They still do a bonanza pizza take-out business, the restaurant not so much. It's always been pretty quiet back there, and except for a crying baby at another table, it was pretty much the same. The waitress was the same, very serene and this time, very pregnant. Jamie went for the large Golden Gate Deluxe Pizza for $20.25, which was your basic kitchen sink combination with liberal amounts of sausage, salami, mushrooms, pepperoni, onions & bell peppers (see photo). Of course, I took a slice or two. It was definitely on par with the pizza at the Sausage Factory in the Castro. Hearty stuff that hits the spot. I ordered the $10.25 Chicken Tikka Masala in which they bathe chunks of barbecue chicken in an almost-cream-like sauce filled with herbs and spices (see photo). It went well with one of my favorites, the $8.95 Bhindi Masala, chopped okra sauteed with onions and spices (see photo). It was as tasty as I remembered it. Laugh all you want at the name of the place. I wouldn't come all the way across town for something mediocre. It really has to give my palate an erection if you should pardon the expression. Golden Gate Pizza & Indian Cuisine doesn't get me quite that stimulated, but it is well worth the long trek on the N-Judah. I was hanging out at a friend's place just a few blocks away from Golden Gate Pizza. My friend asked me to order an XL Chicken Tikka Masala pizza, and I did it within 1-2 minutes via Eat 24. So convenient! Even though the confirmation email said the pizza would be delivered in 45-60 minutes, it was there in 15-20. Impressive. The phone call was clear and concise, and we knew when it was time to answer the door. My friend raves about this pizza, though I didn't have it the past few times it was ordered. Turned out to be hot and delicious. The toppings seemed to be concentrated in the middle, but it had all the flavors of Tikka Masala. I haven't been to the actual pizza place, and I'm pretty sure my friends haven't either, but I can see why she's a regular customer. I always order my usual....I have always had my favorites here for many years and they have gotten so bad. The baingan bharta was super watery and bland. The chicken tikka masala was very thin and very blah itself. And the garlic naan was soggy. Just terribly disappointing. I always loved this place. Lately their food quality has gone down and one time the wait for a pick up delivery was 1hr 15min. This is just crazy. My friend waited for over an hour for 3 dishes and naan. Their delivery system is totally off now. I use to be able to order off their site which was super easy. Even eat24 on Yelp lists them but then it just says "bummer they don't delivery in your area" which is pretty lame. I came here with a group of 9 and the food was so good that I ordered delivery for dinner the next day. Although the two experiences were quite different. The first night I would have given 5 stars, the delivery I could only give 3 stars. An Indian friend of ours took us to this hole in the wall spot and frankly, that's the only place where I like to get my Indian food. At the restaurant we tried all of the 4 Indian pizzas, they were all amazing but the chicken tikka masala pizza was out of his world. They use tikka masala sauce instead of red sauce, and sprinkle the ingredients in chicken masala on top. It was so juicy, fresh, cheesy, and packed with flavor, we devoured all of the pizzas and ordered one more. For the delivery, the chicken masala pizza was falling short on multiple fronts. The crust did not stay crispy, and the cheese had hardened, which I understand is due to the delivery process. But most importantly, they didn't seem to put enough sauce. The pizza was very dry and bland. It might be a fluke, or the restaurant isn't very consistent. Either way, I will definitely give delivery another shot before taking down their delivery menu off my fridge. We also tried the baigain bharta, chicken tandoori, lamb biryani, garlic nan, which were all pretty solid. The portions are standard SF size but the price is definitely high. I feel really compelled to write a review for this restaurant's pizza because I feel like the current rating is lower than it deserves. They have a really juicy and creamy Chicken Tikka Masala pizza here that hits the spot when you think "Indian Pizza". Imagine a regular pizza except instead of tomato sauce, they used tikka masala curry instead. Then add cheese, tandoori chicken onions, peppers, tomatoes and cook. It's very juicy and delicious and the curry sauce is still creamy. The only thing I have to say is that the crust is bland. To make up for this, buy the $2.50 appetizer called Mango Chutni (Chutney). It's a nice container full of mango chutney sauce to dip your crust or pizza in and makes each bite flavorful, spicy, sweet and salty :) read more

Food delicious . Customer service: VERY BAD. I refuse to go here anymore because they don't seem to value their customers. We used to be regulars but they never say thank you, or give even a smile. Even though we ordered every week, and tipped, they still seemed to be bothered when we didn't order add ons, like nan etc. They get impatient with any questions about the food. I now give an extra star to Indian places that deliver. Delivery is cool. Allow me to clarify, delivery is of utmost necessity when there's playoff hoops (or NFL football or a Giants game or new episode of Game of Thrones . . . ) either that or when I'm feeling particularly extra lazy and really don't feel like driving to get food. You get what I'm saying. The tikka masala can be a bit heavy on the cream (which is a good or bad thing depending on your mood). The naan, garlic naan, onion kulcha, and veggie dishes are consistently good. And overall, the food is pretty solid. As for their Indian pizza, it's fine, it's good, . . . ok, so I don't really get it but give me a side of tikka masala to either drizzle on top of or to dip the pizza in and we got a winner. You and me - Golden Gate Pizza - it's over. I'm done. I used to anxiously wait for your pizza delivery guy to arrive bearing a sweet pie of vegetarian Indian deliciousness. But last night I realized that there's no point in holding out for something - when the person on the other end just doesn't care. I've always been a firm believer that if someone puts love and care into their food - that you can taste it. My pizza last night was loveless. In fact - I could only stomach one slice. That slice has to be doused in red chile peppers, habanero pepper sauce, and mango chutney - and it still tasted bland. When placing my order, I asked the guy on the phone if he could make the pie spicy. He said no problem. Not only was that pizza far from spicy - it just didn't have any taste. None. You couldn't even taste the lack-luster vegetables on it - and the crust was lifeless and bleh. After taking a bite of that pizza I called back to inquire about my initial spicy request and they gave a brief apology and said that next time I order they'll make sure to make it spicy. I paid over 30 dollars for a pie that I will not end up eating. That's not cool Golden Gate Pizza and I know that next time I order - my pizza will be just as loveless. After I returned from the UK and tried "authentic" Indian food, I had an insatiable craving for curry and tikka masala that I could not shake. After weeks of missing the food across the pond, I decided to take a chance with Golden Gate. (You have to commend me for my bravery for trying a place that has both "Indian" and "Pizza" in its name) Turns out, the food is really, really GOOD! We got the chicken tikka masala for 11 bucks, which was enough for 2 of us. It came with hot naan and it was spiced just right. I didn't get a chance to see what any of the pizza or pasta looked like, but I grabbed a menu because apparently their delivery is "FAST and FREE!" What else is pretty cool is their variety of foods. If you come in here you're bound to like at least a DOZEN thing on their 100 item menu. From looking down their menu, they have teriyaki, hamburgers, beer & wine, calzones, INDIAN pizza, salads, and both Indian and American desserts. WOW. That's impressive. Just short of 5 stars! Indian pizza sounded like a great idea to me. I love both so why not together?! The outside is not pretty. It's painted bright yellow and right next to a laundry mat and a 7Eleven. We went with a medium Chicken Indian Pizza that was sprinkled with Tandoori chicken, cilantro, ginger, red onions, mozzarella, and slices of tomatoes. The crust was crispy and chewy like a good pizza should be. You could tell it was very fresh from the first bite. The only thing that I was surprised about was how "unethnic" it tasted. I was expecting the curry sauce to be hot with flavor and spice but it was pretty mild. We also ordered a chicken tikki masala and a plate of rice. The chicken was really tender and the sauce made a great dip for the pizza. The creamy spiced tikki masala curry and the pizza: NOW that's what I was expecting! YUMMY :) If you are coming here for Indian food only, I'd say there would be better and cheaper places. $10.95 for chicken tikki masala is the highest I've ever seen in a casual dining spot and that doesn't even come with rice. But I say it's definitely worth a try if you are also ordering a pizza. We thought we'd be stuffed and would have leftover pizza for lunch the next day but we totally killed off everything. Do they have small portions or are we just fat? Two different cuisines usually don't work well together in one restaurant but I wouldn't mind trying the Italian side of things here. Came here on a Saturday afternoon after my friend had recommended this place to me. She said it was pretty good and I trust her opinion so I decided to venture out into the suburbs of SF and try this little joint. It was super thin, dry and bland, I guess I was thinking it was going to be fluffy naan or something haha I don't know what I was expecting, but the crust did nothing for my tastebuds and left me sad and feeling undercarbed. I realize I ordered probably the plainest of all the pizzas especially because there was no meat or cheese, but the crust and sauce still did not impress me.
