I love GGP's Chicken Tikka Masala pizza! What is Chicken Tikka Masala pizza you ask? Well.. Replace your average pizza's tomato sauce with masala sauce, and add tomato, cilantro, onion and tandoori chicken. And voila! Chicken Tikka Masala pizza. On top of the amazing Indian pizza, they deliver to any place in San Francisco. I live in Mission Bay, which is practically on the opposite side of the city for these folks, yet they never seem to mind. I just make sure to tip well. Also, you can schedule your deliveries which is a huge plus for busy folks. I would recommend delivery vs. dining in, for a variety of reasons. 1. Parking sucks. They do have their own lot, but there are only 3 spaces for this joint while the other spaces are reserved for 7-11 next door. 2. The restaurant itself is kind of sad and desolate. Most of the staff is busy making the food and taking care of deliveries that there isn't much time dedicated to dine-in folks. I came in and 3 of the tables around us hadn't been cleaned up yet. 3. So I've been really lazy and ordering delivery a lot lately. I wasn't sure what I was craving, but I found this restaurant in my pile of take out menus and decided to give it a shot. Ribs, pizza and Indian food. What more could you ask for?! LOL! We got the ribs which were surprisingly good. Cooked to where they were tender and moist. They did put a little too much BBQ sauce on the ribs, but that was an easy fix. We also got the veggie and meat samosas. I didn't care for the veggie one since the potatoes were a little cold and lumpy. But the lamb samosas were yummy! Indian Pizza joint...say what!? Originally came here while looking for a "late night eats" spot (open until 11:30pm). I've been here a few times now...all due to my craving for their chicken tikki masala!! I love everything about that dish. They make it so yummy and it goes perfectly with their Garlic Naan and/or Rice. I come here just for that! Their menu is pretty extensive - ranging from Indian food to American food and even the best of both with their Indian Pizza (which is good but not a big fan). This place is pretty unremarkable on the outside, it's next to a laundromat and a 7-11, and just sort of blends in to the greater dilapidated building, but this is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. I wasn't a big fan of curry until I tried this place, and any time I've had it elsewhere it's never quite as good as the why they make it here. Their spices are on point. I also like their spaghetti, which seems odd getting it from an Indian food place, but it's delicious. Whenever I'm in San Francisco I make it a point to stop there. I have yet to actually try the Indian food at this place! I hope I am saving the best for last! I can say that you will find the best value for the dollar you spend here. Burgers are cheep and pizza is actually very well done. I judged this place so hard at first, it's rough around the edges located next to a laundromat and 7-11. It may not be the best crust, or that $25 for a small artisanal style San Francisco pepperoni all organic pizza; you won't find that here. It's fast food/utility pizza at its best to be honest. That's a good thing if you couldn't tell. Not fancy. Just a simple product from someone who knew what they were doing and didn't screw it up. Who would have thought there'd be a sweet Indian place hidden next to a 7-11 in an Outer Sunset parking lot by the beach? I'm also a sucker for family-run restaurants, and when I picked up my to-go order yesterday, there was Mom, Pop, and their two little girls. Squee! Decent pricing and very solid portion-sizes compared to a lot of Indian joints in SF. I've had their chicken tikka masala (I guess it's impossible to screw this up, but their take on it is a good balance of creamy and tomato-ey, with hefty chunks o' chicken) and lamb vindaloo. The veggie pakoras were also really tasty. Naan here is less bready than other places, but that just means more crisp crackeriness for those of you who like that. I love the rice here with all the spices (cloves all up in your face). Haven't tried their pizza, but I definitely want to hit up their lunch buffet and leave with someone wedging me out the door. I ordered the vegetarian indian pizza with no cheese. What made it "Indian" was the curry basil sauce I guess, but other than they the vegetables were pretty standard such as red onion, tomato, and cauliflower, nothing particularly interesting. The crust I think is what disappointed me most. Very weird experience. Let me preface that we had ordered Indian pizza over 10 separate times in the past few years. We ordered the same pizza we have enjoyed many times over many years and it arrived in a timely fashion as it usually does from this establishment. Before we began to eat we noticed pizza seemed a little "runny". Upon taking a bite we both noticed the crust was not cooked through. Although crust is pretty thin to begin with, it was still doughy in the middle. The crust edge was barely browned. Definitely needed a few more minutes in the oven. Upon calling to complain, the establishment wanted to come back and pick up out pizza and "re-fire it in their oven". We were told that "some people don't like their pizza cooked as much as others". This is not a case of preference, it's a case of food safety. It was undercooked. The whole back and forth with the sales associate on the phone made literally made us uncomfortable. No professionalism at all. After explaining to the clerk that we were just done and going to seek a refund from Grubhub we were then offered a remake of the pizza. At this point we were done and reiterated we would just be seeking a refund. Bottom line, whenever I have had a problem with a restaurant's food, I have always had the establishment apologize and remake food with no questions asked. Literally if they had records they would see that we had frequented their establishment 25 plus times with never having a complaint before. Just lost a customer! read more

Pizza is a bit overpriced. A small cheese is over $11 and I didn't find it super delicious. My husband went for the buffet and said it was decent. You know what? This place is fantastic. Indian food is supposed to be flavorful; full of a *variety* of flavors, that is. Not: the Sesame Street version wherein all dishes resemble each other in flavor, differing only as mushes of various colors. Nor is the simplistic touristy version acceptable: this one is spicy, this one isn't. Big whoop. Golden Gate gets this. They've got flavor down, man, and it is gooooood. And that's not all. From the very friendly lady on the phone (who remembers our preferences), to the very tasty & complex flavored Indian fare, to the delicious pizza. The Indian pizzas are good, but strangely, so are the Italian-style pizzas. In fact, even if we're only ordering pizza, we'll often order from here. It's been since living in the East Bay that I've had such flavorful Indian food as this. And that's not from lack of trying! My favorites (as always), are the saag paneer & the dal makhani. I think, in general, a lot of people tend not to order dal because so many places have such boring versions of it. Not here! I ate here late at night with my guy. Piercing silence in the restaurant was deafening. The décor was old and outdated. Waitresses were solemn upon approaching the table. Hmmmm. So last night I was feeling la-ay-zee-ee and really didn't feel like cooking. That and I haven't been to the market in weeks, so the pickins were as they say, slim. I went through all 4 of my delivery menus and didn't feel like Deja Vu again and definitely wasn't craving Chinese food. Since Indian is a tough one with the dreaded cinnamon allergy I was almost at a loss until I saw Pizza & Indian Cuisine? How did that combo happen? And more importantly, how did ribs and fried chicken make their way onto a pizza & Indian cuisine menu? Well, i had to find out. And so i ordered a few things to try since with delivery for the first time, your chances are risky of actually finding something you like, especially when most of the reviews leaned towards the Indian side of the food equation. The food arrived about 45 minutes or so later and it was piping hot and smelled good. I was also really friggin hungry. I then sampled a few of the things and on the whole it was okay. The ribs were kinda tough and the one piece of fried chicken I tried had a sort of sweet thing going on. It was subtle, but definitely not one of the best friend chickens I've tried. I'll take Popeye's over that any day. The salad however, was tasty and came already dressed. A good point to note since you wouldn't want it to get soggy, so maybe ask for dressing on the side. *growls in an annoyed tone* I'm a nice cheetah, I don't like leaving stories of bad times, I really don't, but I'm also honest, and I must be honest here. I am talking about the delivery experience me and some friends had the other day. We ordered some delivery pizza and indian food which actually came in a timely manner. Yay, this cat hadn't eaten all day so some pizza is gonna hit the spot. Send room mate down to get the food, and the delivery driver won't give it to him? we think the delivery guy could have been a bit racist? But oh well, everyone is to a sense. But anyways, we bring the food up, and start devouring our prey. Suddenly, two of our group noticed a strange sensation in their mouths. Turns out, something in the pizza had cut both of them! One on the lip and the other on the tongue! Maybe a random happening? I suddenly bite into something very hard in my slice of pizza. If you haven't figured it out yet. There was glass in the pizza. I REPEAT, THERE WAS GLASS IN OUR PIZZA. We called for a refund to which the restaurant said they would have to come out and inspect before they would issue a refund. Inspect? We ate most of the pizza until we found that stuff... *grumble* The manager came by and was actually very nice, but they would not give a refund which is pretty lame if you ask me. Look, I may be a predator who can eat many things, but glass is not one of them. And if people in our group got legit cut by this food? Refunding our money should be the least of their worries. Maybe a freak accident, but still, this was not a fun experience. I am leaving two stars though, and this is because for what we did eat (without being cut by) the flavor of the pizza was actually quite good and tasted very fresh. If this issue hadn't happened, it would of actually been pretty ok. Some more careful quality control, and remembering that in any business, the concept of "the customer is always right" and their satisfaction should come first are things that this place could use more of. I wouldn't hesitate to return if I lived in the neighborhood, mainly due to the lack of Indian eats around these parts, but that's about it. Their samosas are very average. The vegetable korma was good, but the amount of veggies were slim in comparison to the enormous amount of sauce, which made me feel like I didn't get what I paid for. While they do have a (small) dining area, it seems most people utilize their delivery--a smart idea, as just loitering inside for your order will mark your body with the infamous curry smell. Golden Gate also churns out pizzas, hence the name, and are in competition with Zante's in the Indian pizza department. Luckily, each are at opposite ends of the City. read more

Today I had a flyer attached to my front door... it was a delivery menu, and the first thing to catch my eye was a list of burgers... and voila! as I turn to the front, I see that it is from a restaurant that claims to specialize in Indian/Italian Cuisine...hehe I brought the menu up to amuse my hubby and then we ran the risk of ordering (without consulting yelp reviews)... Goodness, gracious,me! I ordered a veggie korma curry (medium spicy) BEST KORMA EVER? very possible. Even the rice was delectably prepared with fragrant leaves. The naan was pretty tasty, too! VERY IMPRESSED! Having lived in India for a summer, I like to think I can spot the difference between good and bad Indian food. Saying that, I also usually stay far away from 'everything in one' restaurants such as Golden Gate Pizza and Indian seemed to be. (FYI, when I am less lazy and more organized I will cook up some Indian because I usually make it just as good and more tuned to my tastes than many restaurants) So, as I was saying, this was totally worth ordering! I think the reason why people give this place a bad name is because it looks dirty and small from the outside, but sometimes if you wanna find the best place to eat, you actually go to the restuarant that looks and seems less appetizing. The food here is pretty good (at least the Indian food, they also serve American and Italian fare). I would say if you are just wanting pizza or Italian food it would be in your best interest to call Brother's, Irving, or Pasquale's. But If you want Indian food, or Indian Pizza for that matter, Golden Gate is the place. The Indian food is pretty solid, the meat dishes actually have a fair amount of meat in them (unlike most Indian food places), and your order comes to you in plastic reusable containers (no more leaky, greasy cartons to muck up your fridge). The naan is decent (delivery naan is bound to be less than crisp once it reaches your door, I suggest throwing them under the broiler for a couple minutes to revive them.) Those of you who are familiar with Indian pizza (Zante's....yuck) are in for a pleasant surprise. The main ingredient in this pie is not grease. In your face Zante's!!! Honestly speaking, this place is some kind of a joke!! I ordered pizza and samosas. To tell the truth, I never had such tasteless samosas stinking with rotten oil (the samosas smelt of fish - may be they use the same old oil) May be this place might be good for people trying Indian food for the first time.
