Love this place! Was there on Thursday those girls work. Nobody helps the girls. The cook yelling for food and they are trying to do their BEST. The food is fine. Nothing seems to be homemade (hash, hollandaise) which to me is disappointing. I can understand hollandaise (slightly) but not the hash. Waitress and bus "boy" were not the friendliest. The waitress walked away several times during our visit making us wonder if she even heard us. Would we go back? Just went to Goldy's for the first time 2 weeks ago, and already made it back this morning. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet the first time and a meat lovers skillet the second time. My wife ordered an omelet with avocado the first time and just eggs, hash browns, and toast this time. Both times our food was cooked perfect, they were very accommodating for our 9 month old daughter, and we received top notch service! After my trip today, I went to Yelp to figure out why I never stumbled upon it in the past. When doing a search for Breakfast and Brunch in Park Ridge, it didn't even show up...not sure why. When searching for Goldy's specifically, I found that they got great reviews, so hopefully this review helps people find this great little hidden gem! read more

My wife and I go to Goldy's every few weeks for breakfast. Excellent food, excellent staff. (I generally order the veggie skillet, but sometimes go for the special, whatever it is that day.) Watching the short order cook is entertainment in itself. That guy is a dynamo. I don't know how he can keep going at that pace!! When we go there, it is usually crowded on a weekend morning. You may have to wait a few minutes to get a booth. But if you do have to wait a bit, it is not because the staff are slackers, it is because of the volume of people they handle! I always think: if I were to run ANY kind of business, I would like to have staff like this working for me. Top notch food and staff. read more

Delicious food, but unfortunately felt like a number to the waitress rather than a paying customer. Was visiting with friends over breakfast and when we were done we just wanted to finish our coffee but the waitress asked us to get up because there were other customers that had just walked in that needed to be seated. She was also snippy when we said we were waiting for another friend to get there. Additionally we were sorting out our money and she took the cash before we were ready to pay which made things difficult. I felt rushed and offended - did not appreciate the attitude received. This place is absolutely terrible!!! First of all, complete violation of health code for not wearing gloves while touching food. Then used the cash register right afterwards. Secondly, I ordered 2 meals. One of which was was the skillet with sausage, the person even clarified that it had sausage in it. There was no sausage. Next, we paid separately, she rolled her eyes as I gave her a $20 (the meal was $9) and handed me back a dollar. I corrected her and she no you gave me a $10. Afterwards, we called to complain and wanted to talk to the manager, she said "no you can ask me and I'll answer anything myself." I've never heard of not being allowed to talk to a manager. I repeated this request and then began giving us more attitude. She then finally said, the manager wasn't in and to call back later. She could of just said that to begin with. First time there. Told they had good soup. Stood outside and read menu posted on window. Went inside. Eventually I was acknowledged by a woman with short blonde hair who lacked customer service skills. I ordered soup to go. I pulled out debit card and the pissed off look on her face told me that she had gone through this scenario with one too many customers - she pointed to window and said "We don't take credit cards." I apologized and would have given her cash IF she would have stopped there. She proceeded to point to the window/door in an animated way and elevated voice, and told me "You were standing out there reading it!" Yikes. I apologized and told her I was reading the menu, that I was a newbie. She wasn't appeased. She was really rude and didn't care who in the establishment heard her either. I put my cc away, calmly told her that she handled that very inappropriately, and that I would NOT be back. Try somewhere else. Drab decor' and really old booths/tables...but not old in a cool way. I went there a couple of times until I continually noticed the cook removing more hash browns from the plates than he was putting on. He would make a plate, then look at it and then remove scoops of potatoes if he thought there was too much. Im sure an ounce or two isn't gonna kill the business. read more

My girlfriends and I try to meet up every couple of months to catch up. Back in the fall of 2015 we met at Goldy's - it was great! Fast forward to this morning - not so great. I felt like our presence annoyed the waitress and that we were an inconvenience to her. We paid our bill and were finishing up our (freshly poured) coffees when the waitress told us we needed to leave because she needed the table for customers who had just walked in. What? I'm a paying customer and you're going to tell me to leave even though I am not finished? Doesn't make sense. Prices were quite reasonable for the amount of food provided, and service was very friendly. It had an old-school feel to it that I really enjoyed. I went on a weekday for an early lunch and there was quite a crowd there already, though parking wasn't a struggle--though I could see how one might need to park on a side street nearby if there were a lot of people at the strip mall. I wish there was a no star button because giving this place one star is still to much. I had previously went their to eat with some friends and upon finishing our food the owner kicked us out of our table just so she could sit another party who was waiting. Today was the last straw I went in to get some breakfast alone and noticed all the that was available where dinning stools and a table for four, being that I'm 8.5 months pregnant a bar stool would be very uncomfortable so I decided to sit at the table for four. The owner which was my waitress mumbles under her breath this stable is for more people. As customers began to come she says to me can you move to the back table which was another table for four, I politely got up and expressed how unprofessional she was, her customer service was horrible and only was interested in getting more money from the family of three that walked in. I believe that my money is as good as any and being comfortable when I eat is important. It's sad that the owner of this establishment would treat a customer like this especially one that's 8.5 months pregnant. The owner never apologized she just waved me off without a care and went on sitting the family at the table. My family and I will never eat their again especially after the way she treated me she is more interested in money then her customers! read more

My wife & I have been Goldy's regulars...every Sunday after church...since shortly after they opened their doors 15 years ago. Love the food, the service, the meal portions, and the price...it's a "down-home" atmosphere with friendly owner, servers, and cooks. It's New Year's Day and my wife and I just went to a local "fancy" breakfast place because Goldy's was closed for the holiday. It's one of those "brand-name" joints everyone flocks to but where, through overpriced menu items, you help pay their rent for a bigger place with more kitchen and service work. We got less and paid about $8.00 more than usual. It kills me when they charge $1.00 or $2.00 extra for substituting items in your order! Come on! None of that at Goldy's! Give me Goldy's for a delicious, home-cooked "just the way you want it" breakfast or lunch with generous portions, excellent service, and affordable prices. Goldy's gets the Gold Medal! read more

Stopped at Goldy's for breakfast today; I should have left before even ordering. I am no fan of anyone who addresses me as 'Honey' or 'Sweetie', and when my waitress approached to ask "do you want coffee, Hon? (why do waitresses feel this is acceptable?)" I said yes. When she came back with the coffee, I told her that I had a request; that she not call me Hon, that I was not her Honey. She said nothing and stormed off. Her attitude was downhill from there. The food was awesome - it always is, but she was not pleasant. Towards the end of my meal when I motioned to her to ask for another piece of toast, she would not even come to my table; I had to yell it from my table to her behind the counter. I later found out that my waitress was the owner. For someone in the customer service business, I don't think this was a successful effort . . . we'll see what happens on my next trip there. read more
