I have never written on these sites, but, I feel I have a duty to try and at the very least warn everyone about this terrible organization. I even went to the extent to notify the BBB (Better Business Bureau) which already has on file several complaints against this company. Bought a pre-owned 2013 Ford Escape 3 months ago, like the car a lot, but I had a few issues so I took it into their repair shop, one of the issues was a weird knock every time I turned so took it back to Golf Mill Ford, and they have tried several things, unsuccessfully, to figure it out, and at this point they have had my car for almost exactly 1 month. For the record in the roughly 13 weeks I have had this car, it has been in their shop for 6 of them. For what t is worth, the service department has been very attentive, very responsive, and very diligent in keeping me posted on what was happening. My issue is when I decided having my car in a service department for almost 30 days and not any closer to finding the answer I decided to call and see what my options may be. So, I called the GMi, of the dealership on Monday to arrange an appointment to discuss my car being in their service dept for 6 of the 13 weeks, and to see if I could 'swap' it out for a car of equal value. We arrange a time to meet on Saturday, and even though I called on Monday, explained why I was calling, when I arrived on Saturday, he had no clue who I was, called over a salesman, said I bought the car 9 months ago, and was unhappy, I said "it was 3 months ago, and you didn't do anything to figure out why I was here or what I wanted". He just looked at me and gave me the impression he had NO IDEA WHO I was. He passed me off on some salesman who tried to up-sell me a more expensive car and told me they could take my car as a trade-in and give me $5K less because since I bought it, it is now considered a used car. I said, "Wait a minute, I am only getting rid of it because you can't fix it", with that, the salesman, said, he understood what happened, but there was NOTHING he could do, and they would just have to figure out how to fix the car. With that I walked out. Unbelievable. I AM SHOCKED AT THE WAY THESE PEOPLE DO BUSINESS. I HAVE BEEN WONDERING HOW THEY SLEEP AT NIGHT. Over the last two years I've been dealing with Golf Mill Ford service department with my old Escape. A car bought at another dealership many years ago with a less than satisfactory service department. I can only say I'm completely satisfied with their customer service and quality of work at Golf Mill Ford. Rick Fish has been wonderful to deal with. Like many I don't like wasting time dealing with maintenance and repairs, but he's been great helping me get in and out of the dealership in a timely matter. All while maintaining high quality of the work. Those two years have lead me to my decision to definitely want to deal with the sales side on buying a new car. I'd be the first one to tell you dealing with car salesman is not something I enjoy. Heck, I've enjoyed dentists visit more than dealing with the back and fourth of the car buying process. This new purchase just seemed to work better than in my past experience. Darwin Linsangan was on top of his game. Once we worked thru what car and options I needed the old "back and fourth" was ready to begin on pricing. The odd thing is it just didn't seem to happen. We both came to a satisfactory deal for each of us with out the constant "sales manager" sit down. The whole process was fast and satisfying. I think we spent more time prepping the new Escape than the normal price fighting on a deal. After experiencing the service department first, I was not let down at all by Darwin and the buying process. He made my driving past a few other Ford dealerships on the way to Niles worth the drive. I can only speak for myself, but when a friend asks about my experience, I will tell them how completely satisfied I was with Darwin and Golf Mill Ford. And based on my previous excellent experience with the service department and my new experience with the sales department I would recommend Golf Mill Ford to them. Took my 2014 Escape for service regarding recalls. Assistant manager was not helpful. Lied about calling me after I called 2 times to get an update on my car. When I finally went to pick-up my car, I was given the keys and told it was out front. Ended up spending ten minutes looking for my car as it was parked in the back parking lot. Rather poor customer service with very little follow-up if you are not happy. My suggestion would be to take your business elsewhere. read more

I bought a used Ford Focus 2013 SE with automatic transmission in Oct 2014. The car was almost new (only 11.000 miles) and it appeared very well maintained. The seller kept saying it was a great deal and the car had never had a problem. It was the worst mistake of my life! I suspect it was a lemon car! Suffice to say that after less then 2 years (and less than 12.000 miles on the road) the car has had 5 (FIVE!!!!!) transmission failures! The last 3 failures occurred in less than 3 weeks (and less than 30 miles on the road!) and, when the last one happened, we almost crashed (we were driving downhill on a very steep road and suddenly the clutch disengaged and went to neutral right before a curve). My wife does not feel safe and does not want to drive this car anymore! Since I bought this car, my life has been a nightmare! I will never ever buy a car at Golf Mill Ford! Just bought a car here and boy do I feel stupid. The sales people did all the UNETHICAL TRICKS in the book. I purchased the car on a special Ford plan called the AXZ Plan, so I went in thinking there would be no haggling--all straight forward. After finding the car I wanted, I told the salesman I would pay cash. However, the sales person asked me for a Credit Check--a big red flag! Now I know when paying cash, a Credit Check is never necessary. He was phishing for how much I could afford. The rush job was next. Papers were pushed at me with numbers not explained. When I asked for details, the salesman went to get a finance guy, supposedly. This guy never introduced himself. He sat down, assumed an irritated manner. When I asked why there was a $299 fee for VIN Etching, he told me the car came that way, which is not true (wish I had known that at the time). It was an option added without my permission. Next, I was moved into the another finance guy's office who did not speak to me or explain anything; he shoved papers at me at lightening speed and asked me to sign. I asked for a detailed price list which he said, glad you reminded me. He gave me a paper with very few details on it and said that was all they had on this plan. He made an arithmetic mistake on this sheet. He later told me he owed me $46 and would mail the check. I have yet to get it. I have so many papers with different numbers that I have no idea which is accurate. I will never buy a car from them again, nor will I recommend the place to friends or family. read more

So, let me just say my experience with Ford and this dealer in particular has NOT been good. I've purchased 2 brand new cars in the past through Honda, and have had none of the problems I'm experiencing now. I should have stayed with Honda. I've had my car ( a brand new 2013 Escape) for less than 90 days and 1/3 of that time, the car has been back in the dealer. Nothing seems to work the way it should with this car and the dealer does not seem to care at all! They can't find the problems and they can't find the solution. No one at this dealership EVER CALLS YOU BACK! It's so frustrating! I keep my end of the deal making payments on time for a car that never seems to work! It's ridiculous! If you really want to buy a Ford, which I would seriously think about before you do, it's a huge hassle, then I would not buy it at this dealership. Buyers be ware! read more

June 2018-found a nice used car on CarGuru for my son but it was all the way at Golf Mill Ford in Niles. WOW.. we live by St. Charles, IL. but we did the drive hoping the car would still be there and look as good as it did on the website. Several salesman were outside - I thought to myself, "oh boy let the feeding frenzy begin". WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. We weren't jumped on right away, very friendly, low pressure hellos. One salesman in particular approached & we lucked out because he was GREAT!!! His name was Darwin. Great, friendly, low pressure salesman - but very informative. Eager to please. We also had the pleasure of meeting his sales mgr. Christian O., another FANTASTIC person to deal with. We bought the car! A great used Mazda. We got a great price for the car & what we felt was a fair price for our trade in, the team of Darwin & Christian did what they could for us, price-wise to get us the car to where we wanted to be payment wise and within the amount of months we wanted to pay it off in. I was very pleased! I had to come back during the week (we came on a Sat. afternoon) with my trade-in. However, we decided we didn't want to trade in our old auto afterall. We hemmed & hawwed and I phoned in to Darwin & Christian, they were patient and finally on Wednesday I stopped in. My experience was so wonderful, I was with my coworker (we carpool) SHE BOUGHT A CAR RIGHT THAN AND THERE HERSELF!!! I asked them if the car is available and they said they one in stock. and will beat the price. They kept saying they are the largest in the Midwest and will beat the price, no problem! So i went there and then they said they have to first find the car because they have a large lot and again said they are the largest in the Midwest blah, blah, blah. But they didn't have it. I gave them the price quote and said they could not match it or beat it. They lied and lied and when I was leaving, they wanted to me to stay and make a deal... Deal with their lies?! I purchased a 2008 Lexus RX 350 on October 10, 2017. The day my husband and I drove it off the lot, we noticed there was no heat and a few scratches on the vehicle. So, we called the next day to have the heat fixed. We took it back to the shop and they gave us a rental car. That was great! However, they kept our Lexus for 9 days. So we get the car back this past week, and it stops on me in the middle of an express way. Here I am 6 months pregnant stuck out on the road at 6pm in the evening waiting on a tow truck and the state trooper to help me get off the road. This was embarrassing and disappointing. So here I am trying to call the dealership, but no answer. No help! The salesman is not answering any phone calls or texts. I am extremely upset and disappointed. We just got this car out of the shop and then it dies on me. It will not start up and about 10 lights on the dashboard comes on. So, today after 4 days of waiting on someone to help me. I finally called back again, and they are going to have the truck towed to their shop in the morning. But I don't want to get the truck fixed, I just want my money that I put down back. I put down $2.000. This place is rip off. They are not trying to help you. They are do unprofessional and not a reputable company. They sell lemons and raggedy cars and trucks. I have had the WORST sales experience EVER when trying to get accurate information about a car listed on the Golf Mill Ford website. First the price of the car was listed only as the car not the Roush package that was attached to the car. I only finally got that information after various run arounds via email and phone by different sales reps. After finally demanding to speak to a manager because I wanted to get the correct answers I was greeted to him not realizing I was on the line and using offensive language and speaking to someone else. I asked him about the car in question and he explained that it was marked wrong on the Internet and that he was going to have it corrected. Then I asked what the real price was. Jeff, not knowing that I had already spoke to yet another sales person their earlier today said that they had the $6400.00 Roush package when they had told me $5500.00 when they were reading it off of the sticker this afternoon. Which I commented that the package itself is listed in the Roush website at $4000.00. He responded that Profit is not a dirty word and that he needs to charge that much. Also, the listing says the car has leather seats and is a manual transmission.. Come to find out it is cloth seats and an automatic. There were too many inconsistencies to drive 3 hours to looks at a car. I then asked for his name to to be sure that I would reference him specifically when I wrote this review on yelp. He then angrily asked why I would have to write a review and that things must be perfect where I am from, then hung up on me. I know things are not perfect where I am from and I know that car sales are somewhat sleazy dealers try to get every dollar they can, which is totally fine. It just the horrible customer service and RUDE manner in which he treated me.. a well qualified buyer ready to purchase the car. I will NEVER use this dealer. I suggest that everyone else does the same. As you can see by all of the other comments on here that there aren't too many satisfied customers. I was constantly being asked to give them a check or a debit card for the down payment and invited to sit and go over finance documents...no problem right? EXCEPT! I NEVER SAW A CAR!!! I wish I could give them negative stars for this review. In general you need to be very weary when buying a car from any dealer. Do yourself and your family a favor and never go here. These people are the scum of the earth. I walked in with a 750 credit rating. Basically they applied for 15 different loans in one hour dropping my credit rating to 500. I had no idea anyone at any professional business would be doing this so be careful to save yourself trouble. I did get approved for the loan and a jacked interest rate of I believe 30%. I had a 3 year loan that would have brought in over 11,000$ interest for the loan company that issued it. At the time I could afford it so unbeknownst about my credit just getting raped I signed the papers. I'm a mechanic. I passed on the first 5 cars. Should have seen the circus they were running right there. The 6th, a Lincoln navigator was helpfully pulled around for me to test drive. I should have been wiser but buying a vehicle from a huge dealership like this seemed to give me a false sense of security at the time. Turns out the truck needed its hydraulic oil tensioners replaced. I didn't start the truck, they had one of their guys do it and pull it around for us,. When a these vehicles need these tensioners it will make god awful engine noises for the first 10 seconds of running until they finally get primed up. Whats happening inside the engine that's making noise is the dual timing chain slack from the tensioners not holding their pressure. Its not good. They knew about the problem and specifically asked me to wait in the lobby while they pulled it around. I said they new because I am 100% certain they did. Nobody at the dealership mentioned any pre-existing problems with the truck. When I went back the first time they asked me to drop it off and said yeah no problem well take a look at it. After diagnosing what I had already told their service manager what was wrong they told me they would meet me half way on the estimated $1800 repair cost. I argued with the manager for an hour and the best I got out of that waste of a life was the parts to fix it for free. I did. Most other people wouldn't have been so luck on that one but really nothing about any of this is lucky so....... I was had. I lost my honda I traded in. Financial/ living situational strains forced me to default on the loan. Not a good experience. Don't go there, not now, not ever, its a snake pit. Everyone there from the porter up to the big boss who isn't ever there. Don't blame the head terrorist(owner)??? Anyway if he did show his ugly face he would likely be dragged away and beaten if not by me but someone at sometime. I would love to see a documentary on this place with hidden cams... Go through their tent event... Test drive the cars that just got traded in last week because people didn't want them as they have pre existing problems..... Everything was good until they had me sign. DO NOT PUT ANY TRUST in these people because they will not miss the opportunity to scam you. 1. Was not given the price I negotiated with the salesperson on the invoice. The selling price was higher by $895. The finance invoice I was given to sign had a total of the sale price + rust protection + taxes. The finance guy Fernando did not clearly break the price down with me to make sure everything was right. After I went home and itemized everything, I found out that the selling price was higher by $895. I got the selling price over email (internet price), which gives me additional proof of the price I was promised. I showed this to them to make the correction on the invoice and the are giving me the run around. They didn't call me back to discuss this, they didn't coordinate with the internet sales manager and the salesperson to verify my claim. There is a big disconnect between the internet sales manager, sales person, and finance. When I was given an offer everyone was very eager to reply to my emails and call me to lure me in for a deal, but when numbers did not add up after the sale, my emails are replied after days, after several calls, and still my issue is not resolved. I feel that I am constantly given the run around. No service after the sale at all... 2. Extended Service Protection, Safeguard, and Gap were thrown in the invoice without me asking for them. The Finance guy did not clearly go through the invoice to show me what was added after we negotiated a price. Even worse, the Finance guy made it clear that all of these are added free of charge to me because I would go through Ford financing, and that "Ford is doing this to protect their investment in case they have to repo my car". 3. Went to the dealership to cancel the Extended Service Protection, Safeguard, and Gap, and was told the finance guy, Fernando, who did my paperwork was not in and he is the only one who can process the cancelation. I live 45 mins away from the dealership, but was very willing to make the trips out there for service before all of this happened. I was asked to go the next day when Fernando is in, but when I did he was out and another finance guy processed the cancelation, which was a simple piece of paper that I had to sign. I don't see why this couldn't have been done the first time I went there. 4. Did not find out until after talking with Ford corporate that I had a 2yr/30,000mile basic maintenance on the car from Ford. This was never mentioned to me at the dealership. My guess is that it is because they wanted to charge me for every maintenance visit during those 2 years. 5. Couldn't opt out the VIN window etching that costs $300. I was promised that insurance companies will give me a discount for it. After calling two major insurance companies, AAA and All State, I found out that neither of them offer the discount for VIN window etching. I have since found out that VIN window etching kits only cost $30 6. Couldn't opt out the Rust Protection package that costs $1,395 Their excuse for not letting you to opt out is that they already apply one coating to the car. Then they call you after you buy the car to bring the car in for a second application. I doubt this rust protection package is protecting anything, other than their own interest in scamming you. Cars these days are made from the factory to better withstand rusting, no need for dealer addons. Don't fall for it! read more

I made an appointment to test drive two cars. Initially, I got a great response, and was given an appointment for the next day. When I showed up I clearly stated that I was only there to test drive. After driving the cars I feel like I was attacked by multiple people, repeatedly offering me deal after deal after deal. Finally I just had to k for the keys to my own car and walked out. Perhaps the aggressive, overly persistent and obnoxious strategy works for some, but I just felt exhausted and completely disenchanted with this location. I was in for quite the surprise when my father and I went to Golf Mill Ford ready to repeat the usual cycle. Greeted by a man named Gabriel as we walked around in the lot in the rain, he was more then respectful towards the both of us and very attentive to what not only my father was looking for, but also what I wanted. My father was very impressed by this since we had not been treated so well before and I was happy to finally get to voice my opinion about what I felt I would be comfortable driving for the next few years. The service at Golf Mill Ford in Niles, IL is ridiculous and it's highly unlikely that we would ever return there, even though we own 3 Fords (2 purchased at that dealership) and this was the place to go for any services needed. The female service manager Jonelle is the most unprofessional, incompetent, disrespectful and rude rep that we've ever encountered ANYWHERE!!! She sold us 4 tires for approximately $1000 I believe in 2011 and blatantly lied about the warranty explaining that we would get free nitrogen fill-ups for life among other things as part of the Roadside Coverage. Every time we need a fill-up (so far twice) there seems to be a problem. Sometime in the spring we were told that nitrogen is covered but tire rotation is not, so it was covered at that time. Today, after the tire indicator light came on and my husband took the car to have it checked at Golf Mill Ford Quicklane, he was told that nitrogen is no longer free after a year and he needs to pay for it, but no-one could help him anyway because there is NO-ONE at service department, who could do it for 3 hours "if we got that kind of time" per Jonelle. Since they don't schedule appointments for this kind of service, 3 hours wait because someone couldn't make it today (and apparently they only have ONE person qualified to fill tires!!!), is unacceptable and just outrageous. So the 14 mile trip (7 each way) was a waste of gas and time. Because tire light indicator was on he proceeded to go to Midas, where he found out that tire pressure was way off on ALL tires, which were last serviced a few months ago at Golf Mill Ford. 2 tires had 24 PSI and 2 tires had 39 PSI, which cannot be explained in any way other than shoddy workmanship at this shop. This is certainly something that we would expect ANYONE in the service department to determine, not just the ONE QUALIFIED PERSON, who happens to be absent today. To whom it may concern, Golf Mill Ford in Niles, Illinois has caused me a personal hell for nearly 3 years. It may be true; everyone's experience is different, but mine was a near death sentence. This may be lengthy but I promise it will only benefit you, make you laugh, or make you rethink where to shop for a car. I was just near my 19th birthday and had gotten a pretty steady job. I was in need of a car, but not just any car, my dream car. I worked hard, I saved. Since I was a very little girl I had pictures of Mustangs on my walls. They were the prettiest cars I'd ever seen. Not just any mustang, a 2001 mustang. It was my favorite of them all, and I had wanted one more than anything. So the day came, I walked into Golf Mill with my Mom, and only my Mom. She had looked online and saw they had what looked like a beautiful 2001 black convertible Mustang GT. We were obviously there to see that particular car and before I knew it, Omar had us in it to test drive it. The first thing I noticed was that it was badly beaten up, cosmetically. Lots of scratches, a few dents, and it looked like someone keyed the windshield. The driver's seat looked like someone got hungry and the leather was cut with the inside falling out. But what did I care? I see beauty in anything. A few dents? Oh well, I had seat covers. No big deal if she ran like a champ. The test drive seemed to go well. I loved every single second of it. How loud she was, the way I felt behind that wheel. She was mine. It was a dream come true. Till of course it became the biggest nightmare of my life. I bought that car, with the help of my parents on June 27th, 2011, making payments for the next 3 years. I was a bit skeptical when I had heard they had just gotten the car in on the 24th. But what did I know? Just about to turn 19 and in love with that car. I would expect it was checked out with a clean bill of health. I was aware of the lemon law. Besides why would anyone take advantage of the fact that this girl came in with her mother to look at this car? Taking advantage of two women that don't know much about what's under the hood is not only sexist but completely and utterly disgusting, just to make a sale, we were also rushed through the paperwork. Now I must begin with I cannot remember exact dates and times but I can remember the money and the problems. When I got that car home the men in my life were nothing but angry. (Of course where were they when I was car shopping?) I was told that the rim was bent in, causing damage to the tire. I took it in to a local tire shop and was told that 3 of my tires were balding and that the exact same thing was going to happen to the other tire with the rim. They weren't stock tires of course; they were 18 inch tires and rims that weren't cheap. One tire and one rim was just over $400. Golf Mill only took care of the first one. As time went on it sure did happen again, another $400 and something dollars for yet another tire and rim. Within just a month or so the CD player stopped working and refused to spit out my CDs. Every time I ran the air conditioner I blew a fuse and my car would overheat. Then the kicker, every time I pumped gas, the gas tank would leak. The breaks were shot, I needed a new fan, and a new radiator, that was costly to say the least. But one of my personal favorite incidents was the rainy night at Taco Bell where my tie rod broke and I sat there for two hours waiting for a tow truck which was a joke with the rain that turned into a horrendous storm. Who wants to put a car on a tow in a torrential downpour? My latest most costly experience was just a week ago where it cost $ 1,224 to fix pretty much the entire suspension and an extra $60 to replace the hood latch that low and behold came off and broke. I can guarantee I'm missing a large amount of things that needed to be fixed, or don't work. I can only imagine people are laughing at my experience and expense at this point. But to me, it is not comical. I am a daughter, sister, aunt, best friend, girlfriend and much more to many people. I was taken, completely. That car was obviously not checked out, not thoroughly anyway. I don't know anyone that would put a loved one in a car like that so I beg of anyone that has read my long letter to be careful. Bring someone that knows cars with you. Most importantly if you are a woman do not get taken advantage of because of that. It's not something to be frowned upon and it certainly shouldn't happen based on your gender. I should have been able to walk into that dealership with my mom and not walked out into just shy of a 3 year nightmare. My friends have laughed and ask what I expect from writing this. If just one person saves themselves from walking into that place, well I feel like at least maybe I've helped someone not walk into a death trap, the way I did. It goes without saying that I will never tell anyone I love or know for that matter to ever go into Golf Mill Ford. read more

Went in knowing exactly what we wanted, a new ford mustang. The salesmans, Moe, was very helpful, courteous, and a generally nice person. Ended up leaving with EXACTLY what we wanted to spend, which is a amazing feeling for any car dealership. Good service, and a good attitude from all staff I have encountered. I bought a used Toyota from Golf Mill Ford 2 weeks ago! I had bought my previous 2000 Ford Windstar from them 15 years ago. I had so much good luck with the Windstar I would immediately bought another one, but they no longer make them. I was lucky to get Vince P. to greet me and work with me in getting exactly the vehicle I need to hold my 2 grandchildren ' s car seats, as well as being convenient for my 2 Great Danes. As a single person, I don't know a great deal about cars, but Vince did double time answering my questions, looking up all information I asked for, and really going above and beyond!! He even followed up with me to see if I had any questions AFTER I had the van a few days!!! I will probably also drive this van for 15 years, but I can tell you without reservation that if you are looking for a car, and a no nonsense approach with someone who will spend the time & take your considerations into account, I highly recommend Vince P at Golf Mill Ford!!
