We received plenty of crates and they wrapped the furniture well. They are very thoughtful when they bring the furniture in and place it where you ask. Our first experience five years ago with Green Good Moving was excellent. The most recent one was a disaster. They send six not eight movers as promised--one of which quit on the job. One of the trucks was much smaller than we agreed so they had to return it--then charged me for the time spent. As a result, we ran into overtime and it cost more than the estimate. The movers, of which only three were experienced, damaged a mirror, a frame, a bookcase, and despite my guiding them carefully, a very expensive painting. Although I called, texted, and emailed Jonathon, he avoided me. I went to small claims court to try to collect the $1200 worth of damages and excessive charges, but Jonathon hid from the process servers. Jonathon is liar and not man enough to stand up for his company mistakes. What seemed like a promising start turned into an absolute disaster: Initial Service: Quickly responsive to urgent storage needs, then completely silent. (The only positive I've seen is that my items were neatly packed. If I could I'd give all the money spent with them just to the actual people who packed my items. That said multiple pieces of furniture were damaged by the time I finally got my items back.) Billing Chaos: No charges or communication for months, followed by sudden, unjustified billing. Erratic demands with no rationale. Deception over Bankruptcy: The owner misleadingly spoke of "going into marketplaces," hiding their actual financial ruin discovered only through a third party. Exploitative Charges: Employed "recurring charges" to extract money long after ceasing services, fabricating costs for non-existent services. A clear scam. Transparency & Accountability: An alarming absence, leading to inflated quotes for retrieving stored items and financial duress for customers. The transporter quoted me an estimate of $11,500 and in a half hour I found 5 other transporters willing to transport it for $2,500. Customer Disrespect: The approach to service and customer care is predatory, exploiting trust and leaving a trail of financial and emotional distress. This ordeal wasn't just a series of unfortunate events but a calculated exploitation under the guise of legitimate business. Good Green Moving is unequivocally untrustworthy. These guys are great! We've used them 4 different times over the years and they keep producing great results. They deliver sturdy plastic bins weeks ahead of your move so you can start filling them up. This way you can slow-pack over weeks time and not break your back. On moving day, they come into your home and go into each room and cart the bins away for you. No need to get your own boxes and tape anymore. When they're done moving you, they leave the bins in the rooms that you direct them to, and they come back weeks later to pick them up after you've unpacked them and stacked them. Fair pricing too. I was inspired to call GGM in the hopes that I would avoid another environmental catastrophe in the form of the reams and reams of plastic shrink wrap utilized in my last move. When I called two weeks in advance of my move, I was happy to hear that they could take the project on. And I was delighted to learn that they would drop off reusable boxes a week in advance so we could start packing. The first team showed up a day ahead to help us pack our kitchen. They did that and more, and given that we would be spending the day with them, it was a huge bonus that all the workers were super friendly and helpful. And no shrink wrap! They packed everything in the green reusable boxes and used blankets to protect the furniture. Almost the entire house was packed up by the end of the day. Fabian, the team lead, did a good job making sure that things went smoothly. On the second day, we had Saul (from the day before), DJ and new team lead Eric. I can't say enough positive things about Eric, who is just seriously a good person with a calm and helpful demeanor; he easily takes direction and gives direction, which made the entire move pretty stress-less. The fact that he can also haul huge boxes made him our perfect companion for the day. Saul and DJ - you get the love too! You did so much heavy lifting and everyone is so professional. The unpacking went smoothly and they are leaving most of the boxes and blankets with us for two weeks so we have time to unpack. Finding the right mover was super overwhelming and stressful, but when I found Good Green on the BBB website and spoke with the owner during the estimate process I was put straight to ease. Communication premove:5*. Jonathan was helpful, coordinated w/ my Hoa, & was great at communication. Confirmed 930am multiple times & I let him know that I have other movers (for people buying my furniture) that are relying on his movers to bring my stuff out of the building. Move day:1*.At 9:10 I receive a call from the mover, says that the other mover didn't show up & don't know when they'll be able to make it. I share my extreme concern cuz I have 4 movers arriving at 930 (who aren't insured to move anything from my building, only good green is approved) & I explained that I requested early because I have work at 1. I text Jonathan, no response. I call & before I say anything he says in an irate tone "I have 20 movers & 4 didn't show up, we've been dealing w/ this all day". I explain the urgency of 930 cuz of the other movers & he responds saying that this is just how it is & that my 930 movers aren't his problem. I explain that we have a contract that states 930 sharp & he continued to speak in a condescending tone & says he's working on it & doesn't provide any timelines. When I ask for timelines he raises his voice & explains that people don't show up to work. I explain it's his company's accountability for employees that don't show up. He blames me for having my other movers & I explain that's gaslighting as it's his accountability as a company to commit to the contract. He said my move is just another move & complained I'm paying such a 'low rate'. Just because my rate is the "lowest of the day" doesn't mean movers don't show up. Movers:5*.The movers finally arrive 1 hr late & the movers are absolutely amazing. This is why I didn't give a 1* review because Nate & his colleague were so helpful, professional, efficient & trustworthy. Followup:-10*.Jonathan calls me on Sunday & tells me verbatim "you are a bad person, horrible person, how could any guy date you. I feel bad for anybody that you're w/". He also says in the most condescending tone "what do you even do for a living?! You clearly have 0 biz background" I said I need to hang up so we can move forward & he said "doing what? Do you even have anything to do right now? I work in tech, I'm a ceo I know business you clearly don't". He even said in a condescending tone "we have an app & use technology", & said that I have no knowledge of this. He also said "do you even know what gaslighting is?!" & continued to degrade my intelligence. I kept saying that we need to hang up & stop talking, that all I wanted was a reimbursement for the time that the other movers waited & he continued to try to fight w/ me and wouldn't hang up- it was unbelievable. I'm pretty sure that if I was a white male, there was no way he would talk down to me like this. It felt sexist. To say "I feel bad for any guy that you date" feels sexist to me. I really think that he should look into his own soul & realize how he treats people & should never ever speak to anybody this way. I was completely shaking on the phone & had it on speaker w/ others listening & they were in complete shock. Reimbursement:5*.After the call, I sent an email explaining the amount lost & it was about $110. He did refund that in a timely manner w/out further berating me. Move in:3*.Nate showed up on time- he was so great but the other mover came 2 hrs late. I helped Nate on my own accord & he would have been fine w/out me, but I felt terrible that he was doing this solo. This shouldnt have happened. Jonathan never contacted me, didnt offer any form of reimbursement for again not honoring the contract. Moving is not my favorite thing, but the crew at Good Green Moving is literally the best part about it! They made my hectic and stress filled day go smoothly. Rory coordinated things and stayed on top of communication at all times. Saul was sharp and attentive with disassembling things. Charles was a workhorse, carrying the heaviest of boxes on the stairs! Cole always had a smile and something helpful to do. Jay was great at jumping in and helping out. Jorge was great with the unloading. From the owner of the company to the managers to all of the crew, there is a lot of compassion, heart, and accountability with this company. They never paid their bill and the owner just sold the company to Celis Movers in Petaluma. They're very unresponsive, and they feel they shouldn't have to pay the bill because they went out of business even though they sold the business to Celis Movers. Good Green moving came recommended from the building I was moving in to and they had good reviews... Jonathan (business owner) was incredibly sweet to talk to during the booking process and got my move booked quickly and seamlessly, so I had high expectations going into the move.. I was unfortunately proven wrong. 1) Time: Time is a fluid concept for their team.. On the first day, they were scheduled to show up at 9am, I got a call at 9.15 that they will be there between 9.45-10am. On the second day, they were supposed to come at 9.30am, I got a call at 7.15am that they will be there by 7.30am. My building doesn't even allow movers before 8am so that was a waste of their time. 2) Quality of movers: On the first day when they had 2 people come to pack, there may have only been one guy because the second guy was in "training" and pretty much just hung around. It's great that they have professionals train new guys, except I was paying per person by the hour and training shouldn't be done on the client's time. What they should have gotten done in 2 hours took 4 hours, and the packing that should have been completed that day was only half done. 3) Cost: Since packing didn't go as expected on the first day, the guys who came on the second day had to make up for all the remaining work from Day 1 and finish the packing + the move. This was again at my cost because as I mentioned earlier, I was paying per person by the hour. and if it goes over the allotted time (which it obviously did), there's overtime charged at 1.5x. So not only did I overpay for the movers on day 1, I was also penalized on day 2 for the work the movers did not do on day 1. Overall my cost was 1.5x the initial estimate. 4) Customer Service: Given the issues with scheduling and timing, Jonathan called me out to note that he has "never had to call the client twice to coordinate" and "why is this so difficult". There was no apology for the changes in timing, there was no making up for the extra cost from this move. He admitted that the first guy was in training but that's "normal course of business" and that I probably had no experience "working with staff". It was a very condescending tone and no customer should be spoken to that way. It does make me wonder if he would have spoken to a male customer that way. 5) Quality of the move itself: This was the only redeeming part of the entire service. Most of the staff involved in the move were professional and did good work (call out to Rory who was great!). There was some minor breakage and damages but all part of the moving process. Rest assured, I will not be hiring or recommending Good Green Moving for any future moves. read more

This team is the A-Team - Eric, Rory, Saul and Hector. 2 days before my scheduled move I ask where are the packing supplies? There are none and none are coming I am in a panic. I check with UHaul they do boxes and rent bins but that's only in the city...I check the prices and pain of buying boxes (waste and time) before I finally connect with good green team and begin to calm down. They had boxes delivered within an hour of my call, told me not to worry if there is anything I need they are close (in Petaluma) and want to help. They gave me pens, stickers, packing supplies to make the move easier. Then after I finished with everything I called to request pick up and there happy to help attitude continued. Eric and Felipe were slightly late because of traffic but they called ahead so no problem. Once they got here they got busy- they did a professional job and worked steadily for the entire 8 hours. They were enthusiastic and had answers for all the problems that came up. I wasn't feeling great so I was able to sleep for most of the day while they went ahead with packing. There was still a little left to do at the end of 8 hours but my understanding is that it will be done the following morning so no problem. I would give this company zero stars if I could. My extremely negative experience with Good Green Moving is directly due to its owner, Jonathan Cook for these reasons: * Mr. Cook engaged in concerning and possibly illegal business practices on behalf of Good Green Moving (documented in writing, see also below) * He extorted more $$ from me on the day of my move by holding my property hostage until I agreed to pay additional undocumented fees he levied on me * He insulted and bullied me and when I questioned him and refused to pay his extortionist fees to release my goods. * Finally, he attempted to get me to sign a waiver of all legal rights under duress while holding my good during his extortion attempts. (I have all this in writing.) I unfortunately had 2 related moves with Good Green: Move 1 5/22: From my SF loft in May to sell it, with temporary storage of my items until October. Move 2 10/7/22: Moving stored items to a new house in Sonoma County. VERBAL ABUSE My experience with Mr. Cook's verbal abuse and behavior was also very similar to other public reviewers (see: Christine L noted in her 4/25/22 Yelp review: https://www.yelp.com/biz/good-green-moving-san-francisco-2). From these other reviews, it seems that Mr. Cook has a pattern of insulting and threatening customers, particularly women, when being called out by them for service and billing issues. Specifically, Mr. Cook's insults included: * telling me my new house was "crap", that his was "way better than mine and "cost way more money" * that I must be single, because clearly "someone like you would be single because no one would want to be with you" * that he was smarter than me because he owns "like, 4 businesses" and knows "WAY more about business" than I ever could * that he "had way more money than me, like 1 million dollars in the bank, liquid" ...and much more than that. NOTE: Mr. Cook's personal attacks on me were directly witnessed by several other shocked people via speaker phone and who recorded them verbatim in writing at the time. CONCERNING BUSINESS PRACTICES In addition to the extortion, Mr. Cook directly engaged in the following contract-violating and possibly illegal business during the course of both moves and storage of my goods: * Charging my credit card *after* Move 1 for moving services that were neither performed nor that I agreed to in writing. Since such an act could be construed as fraud, this matter is currently being investigated-- I will update this review accordingly. * Charging more than the written contracted price for moving supplies. One example: The "Move 1" contract stated that there was a $10 / furniture blanket used charge, but his movers then charged me $20 / blanket *at the end of the move* and claimed I could "get $10 back when I got my stuff out of storage." (Mr. Cook ultimately refunded me part of the overcharge after I complained.) * Charging unpublished credit charge payment surcharges of 4% at the end of Move 1, with only cash / check as the non-fee options offered to me at the end of a long day by his very apologetic move lead. (I asked the move lead about Venmo -- I was explicitly told "no Venmo for move payments, only for tipping the move crew." At no point, either verbally or in writing, did Mr. Cook disclosed that there would be a surcharge for credit card payments. which is potentially in violation of several California statutes, including those restricting which businesses can legally pass on surcharges. (Mr. Cook refused to refund the surcharges when I contacted him in writing.) * Failing to disclose in writing in *any* contract(s) the actual costs of storage. I received only 1 number for storage costs in a May email from Mr. Cook prior but never in a contract. After 3+ months, Mr. Cook and his warehouse manager then each told me two *different* sets of warehouse storage prices via email, but never once getting my consent to ANY fees in writing. I have more issues I could share about my experiences but am now investigating other avenues of recourse against Good Green Moving. ...and much more that I can't share here as I seek further recourse against Good Green Moving (dba Green Move, Inc.). read more

They have set up a very good logistic system that I have ever seen from a lot of moving companies. The staffs are also very polite and hard working. I guess that's the "excellent" CS John was referring to...see photo for his comment he tried to modify John, I think you started your response well, but then lost it when you started attacking me personally. But that's ok-it truly brings light to what kind of "professional" you are and I hope that others will read your comment and see if that's the kind of person they want to do business with. Also, my review is late because as you (John) are very well aware of, I had a newborn baby that I have been caring for around the clock and simply haven't had the time to post this review. I actually DID contact John regarding my first issue and he was not helpful. He only argued with me. His staff actually agreed that John was extremely unprofessional and informed me that he had only been in the moving business for 6 months prior to starting his own moving company. They also said he had "taken on too much" and was disregarding other issues as well as other clients. Why would I contact him after he had blatantly dismissed my concerns the first time? I never said his movers did an exceptional job but I always tip for OK service. I called John a few days before our move regarding the wardrobe boxes he was to provide us. I needed them to finish packing a few things and John said he would bring them the day of. So obviously, I had things to pack and John knew this. Regardless, every single thing in our closets were in boxes but the problem is that John didn't even check. Also, he was not even there the day of the move, so he knows nothing about what happened. His movers continuously called him because they didn't think they could fit all of my things in that tiny truck and they were right. They actually knew immediately that it was too small. ************Original review************* I could never recommend this company after my terrible experience. I am quite frankly shocked at the bad service I received from Good Green Moving. My experience was in July 2016. There was a complete lack of communication between the staff and I after we hired them to do our move. I was also misinformed about the pricing and what I was expected to pay for. The owner is nice until you have an issue. I had to call several times to confirm the date and correct mistakes on our contract that had not been fixed. Lots of my furniture was damaged because the movers crammed things into a truck that was much too small. Movers were OK. But I've paid less for better movers who were much more diligent with my things and packed up everything I wanted in a very professional manner. They took quite a long time to pack and unpack everything and they did not have dollies to move faster. It was a pretty slow process overall in terms of the movers. The movers completely missed a closet and almost left all my things in there if I hadn't checked. They also left a rug that was a wedding gift in my apartment. We ended up having to leave it behind because our car was full. They also ran out of supplies during my move and didn't wrap up my strollers that I had requested. They both suffered from some damage and they are well over $1,000. The owner had my new address WRONG. I called him to correct it, which he did on my end BUT, the movers still had the wrong address and almost went to the wrong place. The owner came to my apartment and gave me quote without looking into all of my closets that I had told him were completely full because we had moved from a 2,000 sq ft home to a 1,000 sq ft apartment. Because of his lack of experience or just plain half ass inspection, they ended up stuffing my furniture and everything into a 16ft moving truck when I required at least 20-24ft. Every other moving company I received a quote from had suggested this to me, but when I mentioned it to the owner he basically said it would be fine. They ended up having to get another van and crammed everything into the truck because of their mistake. Most of my furniture which was hand painted is now chipped and ruined. I paid double the cost of gas because they had to get a second vehicle but the owner acted like i was getting a deal because they normally charge an extra 175$ for a second vehicle and he would not charge me. I just didn't see why I should pay AT ALL if I had already suggested a larger truck and the owner had assured me it would be fine. After speaking with him about a miscommunication error he simply said "I don't know what to tell you". The owner obviously lacks professional experience and couldn't offer me any solution so I told him I would be writing a review about my negative experience. It's late, but here it is. GOOD GREEN MOVERS ARE FAR FROM GOOD I just wanted to warn people about the fraudulent service that I got from Good Green Movers so that you don't have the terrible experience that I had. First of all, I chose Good Green because of their green reusable bins that they used for packing to help the environment. When it came time for my move, they said none of these bins were available, so they used the wasteful cardboard boxes and tape like other movers. I was quoted a price and paid for 50% up front. The day before delivery they billed me for more than the 50% balance due and never produced an accounting of the charges. They used one less man on loading than quoted and spent 2 hours less on the unloading than quoted, plus I moved less goods than originally planned, but still I got charged for more. I still can not get them to justify the extra expense. I had to put my furniture in storage for a month between pickup and delivery. They must have comingled my goods, because there were things lost and never delivered and never found, and I can't get any resolution for those lost items, as well as things that were broken. They have been totally unresponsive to my claims and are not even answering me. I am now seeing other posts of how they are totally unresponsive to answering for any of the problems and make no attempt for resolutions!!! I've moved many times over the years. I've now personally renamed Good Green to Good Grief. Let me enumerate the issues: 1) not timely: the moving company was very late both the day to help pack us up as well as the day to take our furniture to our new property (about an hour away). 2) breaks: the movers took breaks constantly and of course charge by the hour. 3) unprofessional: the individuals were completely unprofessional - they just didn't take the job seriously. At the place we moved into, they spent a lot of time checking the place out, sitting in our chairs, lifting the recliners (not lowering them after), joking around, etc. 4) damage: they didn't care for our property and damaged our floors, doors and scratched our stone/tile floor. We didn't even file a claim because we just wanted them out of our house ASAP. Peter, who answers the very unprofessional phone system (sounds like he's on a 25 year old answering machine) is unhelpful. They did give us a 10% discount for the early troubles we had but I would highly recommend avoiding them. read more

We also used Good Green Moving last year, and had a good experience. However, just like the other review showed, the customer service has gone awfully downhill. There was no responses from anyone. The movers first told me they couldn't locate my two lamps. Then two weeks later they told me they were damaged. It seems everything has gone dark, and no one is taking any responsibility. read more

We hired Good Green Moving and could not have been happier with their work. While their estimate came out a little bit on the high side, Jonathan was willing to work with us to find a way to accommodate our budget. The moving experience and their work was top notch. All of the movers showed up early, and knew what needed to be done. They were friendly, had a great positive attitude, and were very careful with our furniture.
