Came here during a weekend night when Mammoth was full of smoke - the place wasn't busy at all. I was also surprised to see that there was indoor seating option offered for guests, albeit the tables were spaced widely apart. Wait staff all wear masks, no gloves. Despite it not being very busy, we ended up waiting a good 25 min for our take out order to be completed. We ordered two sandwiches. Mine was the Monte Cristo - which was interesting as the bread was toasted, dipped in egg, and then with powdered sugar, so it was a quirky sweet and savory combo. The fries were large cut, and a bit floppy for my taste. Regardless, very filling and large portions, for a good price. Would recommend if you want to support local businesses during your trip here, but the food and service are nothing incredibly epic. read more

Upon walking into the restaurant, being notified that the outdoor sitting is canceled because "it will be cold" when I called 20 minutes earlier to make sure there is a outdoor sitting area. I don't get the ratings here. Food was ok and nothing special. Service was not great and server was rude and rushed us thru dining. We got our food and took a few bites and another waiter set our bill on the table and quickly walked away. Very strange. We felt rushed in eating. Our server actually picked up my plate, while I was still eating as I stopped to take a sip of my drink. I had to tell them I was not finished. There was no other parties waiting and five open table. Great, great option for breakfast. Huge options for different breakfast cravings. Definitely recommend the Chile Verde (however it may have been better as burrito, still thinking about it). Everything is freshly made, and at a very reasonable price. One thing, we got it to go and had ordered pancakes, and were missing a lot of essentials (like syrup), but that may just be oversight really. The foods were reasonably price and really great tasting, especially the Chicken Fried Steak. Family owned local business not from here so of course we yelped and with the help of our fellow yelpers we found this place. With this covid we need to support locally owned businesses they have inside and outside seating the whole time we were there people came in waves it was full then no one, then they barley had enough time to clean up the tables before the next wave came.. the waiters and waitress were working hard taking all those orders and serving coffee one of the waiters he may have been the owner he was good but he needs to slow down a little I felt a little rushed I get it they were crowded and trying to keep up but like I said slow down a little don't be in such a rush makes you seem un friendly even to ask for coffee it was like ok get her coffee rush rush rush... the eggs were fresh cooked just the way I like it and the hash browns were so good the flavor was really good and a big portion I didn't finish them. kind of strange they only gave you one slice of toast for me it was perfect because I normally don't eat all my toast.. as I looked around people who left didn't leave much on their plates fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious The coffee was organic it was really good and smooth. My family of 4 walked in and we got a "what's up nod" by the guy who was a the entrance and he pointed to a table. Not sure which one since there was quite a few empty table so I have asked which one and he seemed to get annoyed and pointed again and gave me a "whatever table". Someone came to get our drinks order. I have two little kids and I've never had a problem a waiter/waitress tell me what they have. I asked. She said "it's on the menu, I'll come back later" . Amazing! Stopped by for lunch and it was delicious! I ordered the turkey melt with cheese with a side of fries & a coffee & my aunt ordered the bacon & eggs with hasbrowns & sourdough toast. When we first entered they asked if we would rather sit inside or outside (we chose to sit outside), our table was in the shade & it was cold outside but after one of the waitresses got done cleaning & sanitizing the table across from us that was in the sun, she asked us if we wanted to switch tables so we would be warmer which I was BEYOND grateful for! The food was excellent & the staff were very attentive & super nice! Just a sweet little diner that serves up the BEST HASHBROWNS I have EVER had!!!! That is a HUGE deal. I love hashbrowns and these really are the best. Seasoned up nicely and crispy all around. Everything from the service to the food was awesome. They also have freshly squeezed carrot and orange juice! I like to get them mixed as a half and half drink and the presentation is beautiful, like a tropical sunset. The prices are affordable and the options on the menu are plentiful. The water and coffee are served up quickly upon seating so you never half to wait for them. Overall, I just love the vibe of this spot. I've been coming to Mammoth for many years and I can't believe I've never been to Good Life Cafe. I guess I always thought it was strictly a breakfast place. Heard a radio spot on our way up that said they serve lunch and dinner too, so decided to give it a go for dinner. I'm so happy to discover this place! It's a decent size restaurant so would be suitable for groups. Lots of variety on the menu too. I had the vegetable stir fry over brown rice and added some chicken. It was a lot of food, so leftovers actually made 2 meals for me! It was super tasty and very fresh veggies! Definitely putting this place on our list of places to eat from now on. Went to Good life cafe with a Large group food was good and Service was fine. 18% tip is automatically added to your bill in groups of 5 or bigger, server was kind enough to remind me that tip is not necessary since it was already add on, personally I feel 18% is reasonable. Went back the next day with my wife and my two children. seated right away but the two parties that arrive after got served their drinks and got their orders taken before we where even asked what we wanted to drink. Food was still good but service was noticeably worse. When bad turn to worst was when it was time to pay, in most dinners they bring you a bill before you pay but waitress came to the table asked if we where ready to pay with out bringing me a bill, I said yes even though it was very obvious my son and daughter we're still working on their food. I gave her my card and she suspiciously asked I could leave a tip or just sign but never fully gave my her handheld i noticed that it gave me 3 tip percentage options and the lowest option started at 25% so i felt like I had to pull it away from her hands to click on custom tip. Very strange 18% is set for large groups but for anything less they suggest 25% tip? No coffee refill after we payed and felt rushed to leave. A bit pricey but it's expected in a tourist town. Business is great here. My buddy and I came to a nearly full house on Sunday morning after our long 4 day hike through the John Muir Trail. He ordered the Arturo's Ranchero dish and I ordered the Eye Opener (Mahi Mahi cajun style with two eggs, brown rice, and tortillas). Portions are generous for the price and the food is delicious. My buddy was full with about two bites left but didn't leave a trace as he truly enjoyed his meal. My fish was cooked just right with no sign of over seasoning. The white cream sauce was left on the side for dipping an complemented the fish tacos well. I will be sure to return here next time with family and try some other dishes.
