This pizza is out of this world, possibly created by the GODs. Even if "French Onion" pizza is something you'd never order, order it. The salads and homemade dressings are bomb but when you go, be prepared to crush a whole pie or two by yourself. The owner is a creative genius and the staff is great!! I've gone here a number of times. The pizzas are decent, but when you consider the price and the fact that they are medium in size, not good enough for a repeat. The staff is friendly and capable. I must say the drinks are very good. The bartenders I have had both made substantial and tasty drinks. Sitting at the bar is a bit odd as it's a zig-zag setup. Worth it occasionally but there are definitely better pizza joints around. read more

Went for a fun lunch with my daughter,SIL and grandsons. It was a hot humid day so the cool, basement vibe was a welcome relief. There is also a beautiful gas log fireplace that would create a cozy atmosphere on chilly days as well. The service was great but I must say we were the only patrons inside. We started with the vegetable chopped salad. Now you might think it a pedestrian choice but it was anything but that. The salad had skillfully cut vegetables,spiraled red beets, roasted cubes of golden beets, shaved french breakfast radishes, thinly sliced sugar snap peas, greens , a firm crumbled blue cheese all dressed in a delicate vinaigrette. Dreams are made of a salad just like this one and I consider myself a salad connoisseur ! My grandsons had the cheese pizza and we opted for the square "vodka w/ sausage",the "real thin shady" and the " heat of the moment". All were delicious in their own distinct way! I enjoyed a glass of red wine( Barberi D'Asti), my daughter had the Juice Cleanse cocktail( it was quite tasty- I'll go back for that) and my SIL had a local brew from Ridgefield. Dropped in with the hobby had the vodka sauce pizza & the goat cheese, butternut squash with goat cheese and they were both great, but the goat cheese pizza was delicious. There Pinot Noir is smooth and delightful accompanied with a slice of either pizza! A must try folks:) read more

They used to have incense or heavily scented candles burning and the smell was soooo strong but the last few times that hadn't been the case and instead you can smell the delicious pizza cooking! If you're expecting NY or NH pizza just stop. GOD pizza isn't that. Instead it's an experience. First off, I'm no fan of salads but Good Ole Days converted me. The freshest ingredients and huge portion. I actually enjoy salad now! Glory bowl is a favorite but whatever is new and unusual we will try and not be disappointed. Salads serve 2-4 so don't order one per person. Now for the pizza. Thick serves 3-4. Thin 2-3. These aren't personal pizzas so don't over order unless you want to eat pizza as leftovers all week. The vodka sauce is terrific and a good way to ease yourself in. Our favorite is the bikini bod with just enough bite to let you know. They rotate pizzas through and there's always a new one. This week was a Mexican street corn pizza which is in the top three. They've also had a Frazier flave and a fried calamari which round out the top three of my favorite specials. The drinks and atmosphere are unique as well. Adulting is outrageously good and you won't stop at one. The description of it being a "cocktail den" is pretty accurate. It's dark, usually chilly, decorated awkwardly with no set theme. It's like someone opened a bar in their basement. Beer and wine choices are also very good. Staff is usually friendly and service is attentive. Pizzas may take long as there are tons of to go orders. Just order a salad and you'll never notice. Overall it's a great place to stuff yourself with great food, relax and feel good. read more

My wife and son like this place. For me, it's not my type of pizza, I prefer New Haven or New York style. I went for my birthday, it was pretty good. I can't remember much about it. This place is pinch yourself good. Housemade, designer cocktails. Two styles or pizza that are so delicious it's impossible to pick your favorite. Staff that care about doing things right. I could not be more excited that this place is less than 15 minutes from my home. You could pick this place up and drop in directly into NYC. Fabulous. Excellent pizza and cocktail restaurant in Newtown Connecticut just steps from the flagpole

So, finally got to try Good Old Days after being told twice they were not taking anymore take out order when trying to order around 6:30pm; which may have elevated my expectations. Tonight we ordered 3 different pies. The thin cheese, a square pepperoni half sausage and the French onion pie add bacon for take out. I haven't been in the place which I've heard has nice atmosphere. To be honest the pies are good and unique, which is why it got four stars. Not sure it's worth waiting an hour and a half for but, I'll reserve judgement because they are at least passionate about what they are doing. The sauce was a touch more acidic than I care for. The French onion pie was a touch greasy and the bacon was on the raw side. They did have the good pepperoni though, yes there is good and bad pepperoni. I'll have to check out the dine in option and cocktails at some point. With ten plus pizza places in town (most not very good) they are above the fold. read more

Love Love Love the pizza but you can't get a pizza if you don't pre-order by 4PM to pick up by 6PM - forget trying to get in to the place after 500PM - no reservations. Called at 530 to order to go, pick up at 730?? Really - you have amazing pizza - do something to accommodate more orders and seating! We are going to a different pizza place now because of the long wait. We can get great pizza at another restaurant in town and the wait is only 20 minutes and the pizza is really comparable. read more

Great new addition to town! Ordered takeout and our pizza (One plain w/ pepperoni, one heat of the moment) was ready for us when we arrived on a wire rack next to the host stand adjacent to the door. However, upon opening the pizza at home (a 12 minute drive) and taking a bite the pizza was cold. After heating in the oven for a few minutes we were finally able to enjoy the deliciously crafted square and thin & crispy pies. The toppings melted in my mouth and gave me a euphoric high of my last trip to Europe. Overall the pizza here is second to none and is a must have if you live in the area. I hope they are able to fix the cold pizza issue by keeping takeout orders on top of the oven or under a heat lamp, as this was the only disappointment of the night. Must recommend! read more

The crown jewel of Newtown if you can score a seat and sit at the bar with Shane the bartender. (Even if you can't, just go!). The cocktails he (and they) craft are works of art with ingredients no one has at home. Always superior draft beer and wine choices. Pizzas are delicious as are the salads! Decided to try the French Onion square pizza with bacon this weekend. Their square pie is a take on a Detroit-style pan pizza or a "grandmas" style pizza. Crust bottom & sides were crispy, while the rest was softer/chewier. The combination of crust style & toppings were fantastic! Only recommendation would be for them to better disperse the carmelized onions as the bites without the onion weren't nearly as good. Can't wait to try some of their other pizzas! read more

We dined outside at Good Old Days Pizza and it was a great dining experience. The thin crust pizza was delicious - we tried the white lightning - white pizza and traditional cheese with pepperoni. Loved the wine/beer/cocktail list. So glad to have a pizza place in Newtown with an elevated bar menu as well. While we opted to dine outside the inside updates had a chic speakeasy vibe.
