To be fair, I tried only one thing here - the fried corn quesadilla since I had loved the ones I tried down on Cedar Springs in Oak Lawn area. And the fried quesadillas here is more expensive, maybe slightly a little longer, but also thinner. The tinga de pollo filling (shredded chicken breast in onion marinated in chipotle sauce) was lacking in flavor because they were unfortunately not well marinated because it was not shredded enough. It was nice that it came with Oaxaca cheese. But it was less of a meal to eat with the hand since here they drizzled sauce and crumbled fresco cheese on it. Another difference here is that in making the fried quesadillas, they used a large sized, already made corn flour tortillas to fry instead of closing it up the uncooked dough like an empanada and then frying, so it did open up apart after some few bites. The one at Quesa doesn't do this. But overall, I did like the menu. And did see the tacos and gorditas that were brought out. And saw a wide selection of Mexican tortas, including the Cubana. They had everything as far as authentic Mexican street food goes. The only thing is that it's half restaurant, and half bar. And I don't know if it's because of the overhead costs of such a large place or if it's just not pulling the people it needs to pay bills because of the desolate strip mall it's in - but the prices are more than what you'd think for a street food parlor. They do have happy hours and specials for drinks which means margaritas at a reasonable price (but still more than $4 a cup I've seen in some places around town). But the food is not bad. It's prepared traditionally and well. Just again, not the best. And definitely not the worst. I hope they reflect on this and maybe downsize in order to offer the food at better prices. Or that they start offering more to their Mexican street food options. I would give an additional star if this was addressed. Service: friendly Atmosphere: party nightlife atmosphere with fast food (reminds me of the late night Colombian Los Perros in Miami, in appearance)

First of all $3 margaritas for HH!! I was sold from there!! I live near hear and on my walk back home from Target I stopped there to grab a bite to eat. It was very clean and quiet. I noticed that they had a dance floor and a place for a DJ so I think they probably are a fun place to stop at on a Friday or Saturday night maybe. I got the 3 chicken tacos w/ rice and beans.. The food was ok.. nothing too exciting. It was shredded chicken not much flavor. If I go back it would be strictly of the drinks.

Food was bland and from a restaurant that has the name "gorditas" you would think they would be good but nope. I dont recommend due to service being bad and well even the food was bad. Food was priced high and i could not justify the price and bland taste. Will never come to this place again.

Gorditas Los Comales it's a small restaurant/bar with good live music (Spanish/Mexican Rock) on the weekends. I love how they serve food until great and at good prices. Clean and fast service. No complaints, beer was reasonable too. I've been there maybe 3 or 4 times.

In my quest to find the perfect Gordita in DFW, we ended up here after doing some Target shopping. Yes, I love their invisible socks, don't judge. Was a little confused upon entering Los Comales because it looks like you could order at the counter, or could just sit at a table. No one came to greet us so we went up to counter to order, at which point, a waitress said we could sit and order. Saw the gorditas pictures and they still don't look like the ones I've had back home in El Paso, so I decided to skip them and ordered the Cubano. Excellent cubano torta that could feed a small army. Had to take half of it home to enjoy it.....dare I say, 1 hour later?! Perfect ingredients put together, Mexican style. This isn't a typical Cuban sandwich btw. The addition of salsas made it extra tasty, and extra Mexican. Will definitely come back for a Cubano and may convince myself to try a gordita. Stay tuned....

If authentic Mexican Street Food is what your tummy requests, then look no further than Gorditas Los Comales. Located in North Dallas, right by the Galleria, I ventured in here last week after blearily dragging myself around Target for the better part of an hour, with a screaming case of jetlag. It was quiet when we arrived just before 5.30pm for dinner, (despite hearing that this place absolutely 'goes off' on selected nights of the week with Latin dancing & cheap drinks... something to keep in mind for next time!) we ultimately had the restaurant to ourselves. Taking a seat, we were promptly welcomed by our server, provided with menu's, water, corn chips & searing hot salsa. Winning! Ordering was without question the most challenging part of our experience at Gorditas Los Comales; everything sounded so damn appetising & hindered with only one stomach, this made choosing incredibly difficult. Ultimately, I decided on a Taco Plate (3 Tacos - Suadero, Chorizo & Carnitas, beans & rice) with a side of avocado & my friends opting for the Adobo Pork & the La Cubana Torta (Mexican sausage, ham, egg, breaded steak, chicken, cheese, fresco cheese & chorizo). We were undoubtedly rewarded when our food hit the table, everything was delicious. The tacos were fantastically authentic; served with lime, sprinkled with raw onion & coriander (cilantro for you US folk) & made on fresh Tortillas that I watched the staff pound & shape in the kitchen. The La Cubana Torta (which my friend generously let me try) was absolutely to die for. Stodgy, weighty & packed with more flavour than you could poke 3 sticks at, this here is some serious comfort food. I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was hit pretty hard by a case of food envy, reluctantly handing it back across the table & eyeballing it until she'd taken the last bite. I'll definitely be back... if anything, for that damn sandwich!

I tried to add some dip to thin it out!

If I could give a negative star I would. The margaritas are tasteless. My Husband ordered fish tacos. I ordered a chicken burrito and a small side of queso. What we received was tasteless fish tacos with extra thick queso and a really tiny steak burrito. I thought it was a taco. Disgusting!! Money wasted! Next time I'll go to Taco Bell seriously!

    Fries

If you order french fries make sure you ask them to cook them all the way. Also you are lucky if you even get 20 pieces of french fries... So now I'm home having to throw the fries back in the skillet to finish cooking them while the rest of my food gets cold. This defeats the purpose of ordering food people! It's the little things!!!

    Michelada!
    Zach D.

One of the best Micheladas I've had in DFW! In case you don't know, it's basically your choice of beer mixed with spicy tomato juice and other good stuff. Definitely a must try. I had the Pastora Torta, meat was super flavorful and tender. It could be a bit bigger for the price but it's still worth getting. They also have salsa dancing at night which I've heard is pretty fun.

No…read morereservation...just a walk party of 6 and they had a table for us...as long as we could be out by a certain time...about an hour and a half after we walked in. We were there to eat so if they were going to wine and dine us in that amount of time, we were there for it!! Everything was delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks and we are so glad we found this location and made it happen! I was looking forward to dinner here the entire day and it was worth it!! We had the queso blanco...it's got a kick...worth it! My wagyu fajitas were perfectly cooked medium rare and soooo flavorful!! I was my dessert in my pjs back at the hotel...the sopapilla cheesecake and ice cream held up perfectly and was everything I wanted it to be!! It's a dark atmosphere in the bar area, but the vibes were so cool. It wasn't too loud to where people were having to scream to converse...but it was not intimate where you could talk across the table softly with the other person hearing. A few important notes though: this place is SUPER loud, especially upstairs, so if you are trying to take your older parents somewhere for a nice dinner where you can actually catch up and have a conversation, this might not be the spot. Also, avoid the upstairs dining room if anyone has mobility issues. The stairs are a little sketchy in that dark space because you basically have to TRUST there is another stair step in front of you even though you can't see it. And a heads up, do not wander into the wrong bathroom upstairs like my husband did because the "men's" and "ladies" signs upstairs are also nearly impossible to read in the dark! But honestly, those are really my only complaints... The service and food were both very good. We had a couple of ordering fumbles. We got the regular queso, and then immediately watched another table get the tableside flaming queso and we were seriously bummed. Like, really bummed. That is definitely what I will be ordering next time. The chips and smoky salsa were excellent!! - and I always appreciate when everyone gets their own little portion of salsa so everyone can double dip without feeling like a heathen. I ordered the wagyu fajitas (the half portion), and it was still easily enough food for two people. I will say the meat was more like a filet mignon texture and less like the flavorful fajita meat I was expecting. My friend's pork fajitas were actually much better and had more flavor. When the manager stopped by to check on us, I had to announce my own birthday because apparently my friends were not going to help me out with that (some friends, huh?). They brought out a complimentary sopapilla cheesecake with a candle, which was a very nice touch. All in all, I loved the place and totally understand the hype. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time. There is valet parking, but we found easy parking across the street. I cannot wait to come back and try that flaming queso!

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. It was glorious and bountiful--there was ample dressing, cheese, and other ingredients I'm forgetting that made it unique. Unfortunately, during our second visit, the Caesar salad was significantly different. I think they used the same dressing, but there was very little of it. There was nearly no cheese and the other ingredients were similarly sparse. It was still good, but it in no way was the greatest I'd ever tried. I hope that this was a 1-off experience, as it truly was the best. I will report back next time. Service was great both times- they were very careful about my Cilantro request (none) and even though they gladly prepared dishes without it, they also made a list of things that already had none by default. Salmon ceviche, Pork al pastor, Carne asada, and the machete were also very good. The machete is a specialty- it had the house made masa and fillings can vary.
