It has a laid back, casual feel without an ounce of pretentiousness. There's a full bar and a refidgerator with grab and go items (I see you flan). There are also plenty of TVs in case you want to catch a game while enjoying your meal. 1 Star. Service - While it's a casual restaurant, the service is fantastic. Our server made sure we had everything we needed, including ensuring the right game was on TV (yes this matters). He also shared some off the menu items, and was great over all. 1 Star. Food - Tacos El Metro tacos are legit. I ordered a barbacoa taco. The warm, tender barbacoa was served on two thin corn tortillas with generous amounts of freshly diced onions, cilantro, and lime on the side. I dressed my taco with the onion and cilantro, rolled my tortilla, and enjoyoyed what may have been the perfect taco bite: the smokey barbacoa was warm, soft and tender while the onions offered up a sharp crunch. You can order it as a platter (3 tacos + beans & rice). And that flan from the fridge? The caramel bite was cool, soft, creamy, and devoured quickly. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. This restaurant is at the corner of a plaza hidden behind a gas station. We only knew about it through my brother-in-law. When you walk in, you will see 6 tvs showing different channels. So when sit down, make sure you're able to see the TV that you want to see ... Cooking, golf, ... We ordered the taco plate with all pastor, brisket, and chicken tacos. I also ordered their special - chicken tortilla soup. It's interesting that the Special menu doesn't have the price. I don't have a problem asking for the price. Everything was so good! The 3 street tacos was tender and the garnishes were amazing. I loved the grilled pineapple chucks for you to put on your tacos. Food and portions are great. I ordered the three taco plate with rice and borracho beans with grilled onions on the side. The grilled onions were fresh and tasted like home. The service is very good. Our waiter (Icen) explained what was in the different taco sauces (not just here is some green and red sauce). The manager came by during the meal as well to check on us. I've returned to this restaurant several times and they NEVER disappoint! I've usually go to the bar and get a delicious *walnut* horchata. That drink is a dream! We have our favorite Mexican restaurant (as does everyone), but one night we got adventurous, and decided to try Tacos El Metro on Walnut Hill Lane. Tucked in the corner of a small strip mall, El Metro doesn't look like anything special from the outside. Once inside, SHAZAM! Not your typical Tex-Mex style Mexican restaurant. The staff is super friendly and attentive, the bar serves up a full compliment of cocktails, wines and authentic beers, and the food is out of this world (complete with a whole pig roasting in the kitchen!). We tried the Torta Pastor (the owner's own recipe), and Tacos with Gulf Snapper and Carne Asada. Absolutely wonderful! If your favorite hole-in-the-wall is getting long in the tooth, then treat yourself to Tacos El Metro. It's not Javier's Gourmet Mexicano, but it's an authentic Mexican eatery that is easily overlooked. You won't be sorry! read more
