Have been to Gorditos many times in past but not for several years prior to stopping in late on a recent Sunday for a pick-up burrito. Place is still authentic & efficient, and food is very tasty and a great value (arguably best in town). All employees were wearing masks though city was well past any Covid mandates. This is the place we take out of town visitors, and when we lived elsewhere, the place we HAD to visit when we came into town. The music is a little loud sometimes, but the food is wonderful. I especially like the carne asada, the breakfast burritos with potatoes, and the agua fresca. The creamy chipolte chicken is also quite yummy, and spicy. You order your food, get a little pinata-like burro with a name on it (makes it fun for kids), and that's how they find your table to give you your food. I haven't been here in ages but I always remembered how delicious everything was and how packed it can be. My cousin and I came here hungry after purchasing my wedding dress from I Do Bridal up the street. There was a small line at the door, you grab a menu and pick out what you want and let the lady know when it's your turn. You pay after placing your order and then you get one of their cute paper maché horse table markers and wait for your food. I enjoyed the burrito "wet" style. Very very yummy! Dude, that burrito is big... really big. This is my favorite place to get Mexican food in Seattle the food is well priced and unless you have a monster appetite you are going to have leftovers... a lot of leftovers. The atmosphere is nice, there are lots of chairs and plenty of room, the place is pretty clean. The staff is nice and has been patient when I have brought in my more demanding (I want this, not that, add this) foodie friends. There is a bar for all those mandatory Mexican food add-ons. Additionally, you can pick up a glass of Horchata... which is important to fuel your attempt to get through that burrito. Now, for the record, I did not venture to try the burrito grande which is a good thing because the regular burrito was PLENTY large for me! I had to eat it with a knife and fork. I had a chicken fajita burrito and it was excellent. What I loved about it the most was I could taste there were not added oils or fats. It wasn't greasy at all! I give them props for having an affordable high - lo ( high protein - low carb) options on the menu, particularly the carne Asada. 11$ or $12 for a big plate of skirt steak and veggies is a good deal considering most other places charge about 16$ + . I also saw hi lo prawn and tilapia plates too. Good plAce to come if you are on a diet and conscious about your macros. Yup IIFYM . But sorry you probably can't eat the free basket of tortilla chips with salsa they give you while you wait for your meal. So that was the #fitlife talking. Now the #anti fitlife and foodie says : think a notch above blue water taco and taco del Mar. The food is affordable but really realllly lacks flavor.. I tried the fish tacos and was maybe hoping for a nice filet of white fish nestled in a soft white corn tortilla ... but it was more like torn pieces / bits of unseasoned dry fish with a pronounced dirty water -tilapia - flavor. The rice .. Meh.. Dry and no flavor.. Cotton mouth. The beans.. I think they just opened up a fresh can of black beans and sprinkled some jack cheese on top and called it good. This is my new favorite Mexican spot in all of the Greater Seattle area. You have to go if you're in the area. You won't be dissapointed. I am now on a mission to try everything on the menu. Pros: Fresh, Flavorful, Friendly Staff, and a bargain price wise.. For how fresh the food is everything is still served quick. They have a salsa bar too with 3 different salsas, cilantro/onion, and jalapenos. The staff there is awesome. Everyone is real friendly. And lastly, everything tastes awesome. The salsas are perfect. My go to is the chicken wet burrito. Fajita style. It's a big burrito and only $9! Cons: The only thing I can think of is the parking is kind of limited but it's never really been an issue for me, even with going at lunch time. read more

We went in at 8:13 pm on a Sunday and they refused to serve us they started saying they were out of food. The place does not close until 9pm. Recently, I had the good fortune of going to Gordito's again...it had been a while, but like a Prodigal Son I came running back, tattered and desperate, only to be welcomed with open arms and nourished back to health with an expansive and delicious meal. Said delicious meal was, in this case, a wet veggie quesadilla that was approximately the size of a manhole cover. Obviously it was filling, but every bite was tasty and satisfying, with a good balance of veggies and cheese and an excellent green enchilada sauce on top. The folks who work here are some of the very nicest in Seattle. They don't just do the "welcome blah blah blah what can I get for you blah blah blah"; they genuinely engage you, as if they're having you over for dinner. Sincere hospitality in the truest sense of the word. I love getting the little pinata so that the server knows what orders go where. They could probably stand to turn the stereo down a bit; it seems like every time I've ever been here, I've somehow managed to sit directly under a speaker that was playing traditional music at a nearly weaponized volume, such that you have to shout "WOW, THAT'S ONE BIG BURRITO" or whatever at the person sitting next to you. I first discovered this place in 2009 when I moved to Seattle. Gordito's quickly became my go-to spot for burritos and must admit that even though I've never tried anything else on the menu, everything looks great as you can see the food being prepared and plated. Consistentcy and quality must be their top priority because the burrito I ordered last night was identical to my first burrito I had ten years ago; just as tasty and still a great value for the money. I can rarely eat a whole burrito at once, so typically have the remaining amount for lunch the following day...and I'm not even referring to the larger size burritos. Gordito's wasn't bad, there were a lot of positives about this place. And if I could give it a 3.5 stars I would. To start, the service was fantastic. I forgot to make it clear that I wanted flour tortillas instead of corn for my enchiladas and when I ran back up to the counter, they had already began preparing my food. I told them not to worry about it, however, they surprised me with enchiladas the way I wanted them, which was really nice of them! Their salsa is also amazing. I love how fresh it was and that they have a salsa bar for those of you who want something spicier than the mild that they give you. The environment was clean and spacious and they had a tiny wood burning stove that was going. It made it very cozy. They were also incredibly fast. We had our food in less than 10 min of ordering. Probably closer to 5 though. Moving on to the food, it def was not bad. It just tasted nothing like any enchilada I've had from any region--not New Mexico, not Texas, not California, nor Mexico. It seemed more like a small version of their burrito. Inside was small chunks of grilled chicken meat rather than shredded meat (it was good meat, just not at all like any traditional enchiladas. They used LOADS of what seemed like mozzarella cheese on top which is very un-enchilada like, as well. The tortillas were slathered in either green or read sauce, I got one of both. But it tasted so different from anything I've tasted before. It was really heavy on lime, or something really tangy. Almost to the point that, that was all I could taste in the sauce. Again, it wasn't bad, it was just so different from any enchiladas sauce I've ever had that it really felt like I was eating some entirely new creation, but def not enchiladas. And all I really remember from the dish in terms of flavor, is mozzarella, grilled chicken and lime. I might have just ordered the wrong thing, looking through the pictures I didn't see any of the enchiladas. So perhaps I'll go back and give their tortilla soup or ceviche a try-- read more

Apparently, I have been to Gordito's before. As a recent transplant to the Greenwood neighborhood, I've been told by more than one person to eat here. My dad and I pulled up a chair for dinner last week and I marveled at how well this place is ran between the ordering line right inside the front door to the salsa bar, water station and stack of to-go containers for the taking. And the food.. man oh man! Burritos the size of babies (literally) with a photo gallery on the wall to prove it, and my carne asada quesadilla that was perfectly crisped on the outside and filled with all the good stuff on the inside. During our conversation, my dad told me he and my mom took us here when we were kids. I have no memory of this, so I asked him what I was wearing that day. He couldn't remember either and there are no pictures as evidence, so did it really happen? All I know is that I want to come back here all the time! I ordered chicken enchiladas and they actually gave my chicken and steak along with rice and beans. Food was super fresh! The horchata is the best in Seattle and so is the Agua Fresca!
