I've been there in the past and it was fine, but today they were serving all the orders called in, while the line of people there to buy in the restaurant was not moving. They were so discombobulated by the online orders that they kept getting orders wrong, including mine. I asked for chicken, and saw them making a beef burrito, then make the order for the guy behind me. Finally I asked and they tried to first give me the beef burrito, then charge me for the order of the guy behind me. I finally got my order, but everyone there seemed annoyed at me rather than apologetic. They need more staff if they are going to take so many online orders. How is this observed? Well if you have a minority in line ... treat them poorly, go to the next person whose white and say welcome how can we help you? Then the next person is a minority and you engage in a hostile I don't want your business manner ... yes we're all looking bewildered because we all have an idea regarding what's occurring ... and when called out - you laugh and with your white customer you gaslight. You uphold systems when you engage in these behaviors that promote the level of entitlement I observed before and this evening. I've asked others of various races, and ppl are aware of this level of "customer service." I'm pretty sure across the board you have all races, ethnicities and genders frequenting your taqueria. This was smaller than I remembered for a super size, but it did hit the spot. The rice and beans were fresh and the meat was tender and well marinated. I ordered a steak quesadilla with tomato tortilla for myself. First off, they gave me chicken and not steak. This is not acceptable. First, no contact made to let me know if they ran out of steak and needed to substitute. Two, chicken is much cheaper than steak and no price adjustment was made. Three, if someone is allergic to chicken and specifically ordered a different meat, their whole meal would have been inedible. Hence, 2 stars for service here. The look of the quesadilla was essentially just a slightly folded tortilla that was charred a bit longer on the grill. The flavors were there, but it didn't look or taste like the quesadilla I was expecting - because well, I was expecting steak! I'm really disappointed. Ordered burritos and taco for a birthday lunch. Once we got the food back to the office we were missing a whole burrito, messed up one of the burritos, the quesadilla was full of rice and the tacos were soggy. I called and they replaced the burritos but I had to go back to pick them up. The tacos were so soggy that you couldn't eat the tortillas and could only eat the insides. Excellent veggie burrito! I was in Berkeley for an appointment and needed some lunch. I saw the sign for Gordo and decided to stop. Since I eat a plant-based (vegan) diet, I wanted to see if they served veggie burritos. And they do! I asked for no cheese or sour cream, but I kept the guacamole. Yummy! And it was not very messy, which was a plus because I was eating it in my car. The line behind me was out the door, which let me know it was a favorite among the locals. And now I know why. Best place for a Burrito! I always get the Super Carne Asada and Gordo's is my go to burrito place for over 10 years. Still have not found a better place. It's not too greasy like other places, the meat is tasty and not dry, the tomato rice is yummy, and all the flavors meld together perfectly. Oh and their crispy tacos and quesadillas are sooooo yummy, but you have to eat it there, because they pan fry the tortilla so it is crispy and has melted cheese on it and if you take it to go, it gets soggy by the time you get home and the experience just isn't the same. They have raised prices after the pandemic, but who hasn't? Prices on everything have gone up, but they haven't price gouged their customers like some other places. They have been fair and their prices are still reasonable, and I will continue to be a customer for many years to come. read more

Not as good as their SF locations that I've been to because of poor consistency; sometimes I get a lot of meat and other times not so much. For about 15 years, whenever we've been in the area, we have gone to Gordo, We have ordered twice within the last month and the burritos have gotten smaller more expensive and less flavorful. Twice I have ordered carnitas burritos and twice it's like chewing on old shoe leather. They have failed to add the green salsa. They serve you so much rice that they should label it a rice burrito. When I went I was dismayed to find a line, but the seasoned cook put Chipotle workers to shame with their one-man assembly line. That Carnitas Quesadilla. Just the thing to convert me into a fan of cheap, semi-authentic Mexican food. It's almost like a wrap, which makes it much easier to eat, and the tortilla was cooked to just the right balance of crispy and chewy. Hot sauce all drained down to the bottom of the quesadilla so that the last bite packed a punch to my unsuspecting, not-so-heat tolerant mouth. My friends both got burritos, which we were surprised to find did not actually come with cheese (unless you get the Beans & Cheese) - you have to add it on for an additional fee.
