I've ordered Gotham's through Seamless and wasn't a big fan of the pizza. The biggest letdown was the dough - it's pretty rough, but not in the crispy good way. It reminded me of a piece of beef jerky. For a quality pizza joint in the Upper East Side, I recommend Angelo's 2nd Ave. While it's a bit pricer, you can't go wrong bringing friends or a date who is in the mood for pizza. read more

Solid slices, nothing too extraordinary but good enough to get during lunch breaks at work. Their plain slices are not very filling, I recommend pepperoni and their grandma slice. Their grandma slices are probably the best, very flavorful and good texture. read more

The pizza here is extremely greasy, something I don't personally like, although that's just my preference. The service was good, but a little overpriced, especially the drinks, compared to 2 bros pizza etc. What has nothing to do with preference is that the place got shut down for sanitary violations, including LIVE MICE in food areas. Sanitary Violations (01/17/2014) 1) Cold food item held above 41º F (smoked fish and reduced oxygen packaged foods above 38 ºF) except during necessary preparation. 2) Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas. 3) Food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service. 4) Facility not vermin proof. Gotham added a delicious chicken pie to their pizza selection, and they also have w mozzarella / ricotta slice I never noticed before. More options, always better. *** Clean location, fast friendly service, always freshly made pizza that's very good. Their grandma's (margarita type) pizza is my fave, and while not my personal fave / preference, the grainy crispy thin crusted regular slices are a big hit with adults and kids - very good. With it's thin crispy slices Gotham Pizza serves up the perfect drunk munchie food. Been here a few times when out in the area and they have been consistant with their product. A damn good pizza at a reasonable price. Sure, there is the .99 cent pizza joint on 86th street, but this is a better quality pie. Then again, when drunk all pizza pretty much tastes decent. Even cold pizza out of the fridge tastes good. Yes, I am a pizza slut. It loses points though for not staying open as late anymore as they close at midnight now, same as the 1st Ave location. Stay far away. Horrible pizza. The dough has bad taste and a grainy outerskin. The sauce is tasteless. The cheese is cheap and salty. It weighs half as much as an ordinary slice. Where's the food? I have to admit that I love and frequently crave the pizza here. The crunchy cornmeal bottom is addictive. However, I seriously question the hygiene of this place... I generally do not like to eat at questionable/possibly unclean places but this is the only exception. I get the heebie jeebies while dealing with the staff... A classic pizzeria in a neighborhood that doesn't have a ton without walking for a few blocks! The service is really fast and they do a good job of keeping fresh pizzas coming out of the oven. They have a pretty wide variety of pizzas, with decent pricing for slices and fountain sodas. Everything is pretty standard for a pizzeria - plastic forks and knives, as well as wax cups with lids, etc. Their white pizza is not one I would recommend - it doesn't have a ton of flavor unless you add garlic powder or something like that on top! Other than that, the other kinds I have tried are all fine! The garlic knots are definitely worth a shot! Super cheap at like 4 or 5 for a dollar and they come out nice and warm. They do have a lunch special which is something like 2 plain slices with one drink for $5, but I'm not sure if this is just during the week or not. This place fills up with a lot of kids from nearby schools during the week at around lunch time, so keep that in mind depending on what time you're coming in! If you have somewhere to take it to go, do that! There isn't a lot of seating, and the kids sometimes stay well past when they're done eating. read more

Living locally I havent tried Gotham till tonight. I was at Cornell Hospital till 10pm & due to the late hour thought I'd give them a try. I ordered a whole cheese pizza. They gave me the one that just came out of the oven. But instead of charging the whole pie price, he charged per slice cost. To top it off I got 2 pizza to go boxes as he actually completed the scan by cutting them up into slices!!! Unbelieveable. First & last time there. read more

After a nice pool day with my boyfriend, we wanted to grab a quick bite... and we saw this nice pizza spot, so we decided to give it a shot!! The pizza was nice and crispy... a little small, but still nice! I wanted garlic knots on the side, and sadly they said they didn't have... I am not sure if they didn't have at the moment, or if they just don't make them (AT ALL)... The spot is nice and clean... when we walked in, a man was taking up a table of six, with his daughters... unnecessary! He had the chairs open and the ones he was not using, he still had like he owned the pizza shop! While ordering our food I noticed this, and I was ready to say something because it is not right for customers to leave or eat standing because people want to use extra chairs and tables... I was not going to sit right next to him, but I was going to have the extra table and chairs moved! So whatever... while we getting our food, the man left, and by the time my boyfriend and I got our food, a man who works at this pizza shop cleaned the table for us. ... 3 stars because the slices are a bit small small, and they had no garlic knots. read more

I don't know if the place changed in the last year or so (based on early 2016 reviews) but this pizza was amazing! I had two slices of their pepperoni pizza and I have fell in love. I'm nervous (and excited) that I live right around the corner from them (this is going to be bad!). The pizza had the right amount of cheesy-ness. They don't short you on the amount of Pepperoni's. (I like a piece of pepperoni in every bite.) It's definitely a little hole in the wall, but it looked clean. We didn't spend a lot of time in the place because we took our pizza to go. Stumbled upon this pizza spot after visiting a friend on the Upper East Side. I order a slice of the Margherita pizza and was amazed how delicious it was. The key was the crust - very light and airy with a slightly crunchy cornmeal finish. The sauce, mozzarella and basil combined perfectly. This place is cheap, quick, and easy. It's no frills and not even remotely fancy. There are tables inside if you want to eat there but we got ours to go. I ordered a slice of cheese, a piece of Sicilian, and some garlic knots. The knots were nothing to write home about but for a dollar they weren't bad at all. My bf fell in love with their Sicilian. He actually cheated on his diet to eat it, but he said it was worth every bite. For two slices, plus knots and bf's two slices the total was less than $15. You can't beat that for dinner! I've eaten at many pizza places around the city, but none have made me feel compelled to write a review. As many of my fellow reviewers mentioned, the crust is amazing and steals the show at Gotham. They use a lot of cornmeal (which I'm a fan of), and it's not too thick or thin... It's comes out of the oven nice and crispy, and not greasy. I can't believe I waited as long as I did to get some pizza from Gotham. I had no idea what I was missing out on. Now that I am in the know... This will be my default pizza place! read more

Note: C sanitary inspection grade rating! Got delivery from here for 2 grandma slices. One of the slices had a piece of a Brillo pad steel wire in the crust that I almost choked on! I called and was able to get my money back and the owner accepted the mistake- good customer service gesture but such an unforgivable mistake. Plus they have a C sanitary inspection grade rating from rodent/vermin issues so clearly no attention to quality or sanitation here. More from the perspective of health and cleanliness I would not recommend going here until they get their sanitary inspection grade back up to an A, even though the pizza tastes good. My first time in New York and, obviously, my first time having "real" New York pizza! I ordered a slice of the Margherita for $3.25. It had mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. The crust was thin and crunchy and every bite was delicious. They don't overdo it on their toppings and they add just the right amount that it doesn't make you feel bloated and gross after eating. I got just what I wanted out of it AND was able to move around after! It was definitely different than any other pizza I've ever had and had some really neat qualities about it, but I didn't think it was "omg bomb diggity I'm about to pass out" type status pizza.
