We came here because the Arby's in our area have some fantastic turkey gyros right now and we were craving one. So, we pulled off the freeway to get one, only to find they don't offer them at the one in Pleasanton. We were still craving Mediterranean and didn't want to settle so we went across the street to Gotta Eatta Pita. The place looks cute and clean. The staff was nice enough but I didn't care for the selection. We ended up getting sides to tide us over instead of making or own gyros. The serving of a side of hummus is very large. Almost a meal in itself for $5. Unfortunately it is quite bland as is the pita and I was disturbed to find they serve the pita COLD which just makes it all the less appetizing. You've just gotta eat these pitas! Love these things. The chicken is delicious, humus and pitas are always fresh. I love that they have beer on tap and Martinellis in the glass jar. The staff is always friendly and the place is relatively clean. I think it's a bit odd that feta is $0.75 extra (it's not the best feta every, but it's tasty). That chicken is just phenomenal though, seriously. I like to get the chicken pita with cucumbers and tomatoes, humus and feta - although, I heard the eggplant is to die for. I first stumbled on this casual dining establishment about a month ago while traveling for work. On my first visit, I ordered a delicious chicken shawarma bowl with all the fixings. What impressed me most was that their version was a little different from the norm. The shawarma more closely resembled grilled chicken with a hint of citrus throughout. In other words, the chicken didn't dominate the rest of the ingredients in the bowl. With so many add -on options available , you can customize your bowl with bold flavors that compliment the chicken well. Before I handed out a 5 star rating, I had to go back to try their falafel. Having never tried falafel , I figured I would give it a shot since my first experience with the shawarma went so well. All I can say is that these little crunchy delights were heavenly. Who knew? In fact, I ordered a dozen of these things to-go, and had a nice lunch the next day. Oh, I almost forgot the pita bread. Damn, if I could have a bed made out of their pita-I would be so happy. My new favorite in Pleasanton - both for a quick meal at lunchtime given it is minutes from where I work, and for a last-minute family feast. I love that they can tailor everyone's meal, including kids, and cater to vegetarians and non-veg lovers alike. The premise is basic - get in line, pick your choice of pita or bowl, and have them build your meal. We ate here about 2 weeks ago, and it surpassed expectations. The place is like a Chipotle, but with Mediterranean style food. It's more "Americanized", using organic ingredients, and not as greasy as the native cuisine. Flavors might be a better fit for American palates. We ordered a pita and a bowl. It was plenty of food...the stuff is really dense. We had a lot of hummus to take home. The pita bread was soft and freshly made. There was plenty of grilled chicken layered in there. The hummus is nice, but not the best I've had. The roasted eggplant had that slow-cooked goodness...it was nicely caramelized and definitely worth trying. The tabbouleh was fresh with a hint of minty notes. Pretty nice, but not as good as the one we make at home. We didn't opt for any extras like feta cheese, kalamata olives, or roasted peppers (75 cents each). DH's chicken bowl was loaded with stuff. He really enjoyed it. The tahini sauce really tied everything together, but it did have a hint of bitterness. We also tried a side of falafel balls, 6 pieces for $1.99. They're good, but tiny, and a little too hard. I'm not sure if we'd order them again. They also have catering and you can order things a la carte. Overall, solid place for a quick, relatively healthy meal. I was looking for a spot to pick up dinner and found Gotta Eatta Pita on Yelp. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a friendly welcome. Like others said, it is similar to Chipotle, in that you tell them what you'd like in your pita or bowl as you go down the line. I ordered a half falafel and half chicken with hummus, cous cous, eggplant, tomato/cucumber, tahini, and feta cheese (costs extra). It was delicious and so filling! I actually couldn't finish my pita (ate it with a side of hummus) and ate half the next day and it still was really good. I also ordered a side of hummus with pita ($4.50) and I couldn't finish it after 2 meals. The food is very good and fresh. Service was great. The people helping me were very nice and answered any questions I had with the food. One of the guys described the process to me as he was filling my pita; they put in the falafel after everything else is put in and then put the sauce on. He also was super nice when I called back since I forgot to get a receipt and had it emailed to me. Pricing is a little high, but it won't stop me from coming back. I've never had problems with wait time or parking; but I've only been here in the evening. *Note, you get a sample of the hummus when you order a pita. Grand Opening Day here in Pleasanton today (their 3rd store so far) and Gotta Eatta Pita is off to a great start! Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by their friendly staff and offered samples of both their falafel and pita/hummus spread. Both of which were very fresh and tasty. This is my first Gotta Eatta Pita experience and I must say, I love the concept! Similar to Chipotle's create your own burrito/bowl concept, Gotta Eatta Pita is even better since they offer a create your own Pita or Bowl. Healthy, fresh Mediterranean food in the comfort of an easy grab and go. I ordered their Chicken Shawarma pita and at only $7.45, it's a wonderful new option near my workplace. Chicken was moist and flavorful, plus I was given the option to stuff my pita with an abundance of hummus, mixed greens, purple cabbage salad, tomato & cucumber, eggplant, tabbouleh, and Tahini sauce. It feels so good to know all the wonderful veggies that is going into this pita. Feta cheese, olives, and peppers are additional options at $0.75 each. I have no doubt that I'll be returning soon. Me and my husband are always on a hunt for good shawarma places and the name of the place really caught our attention. We stopped here for lunch with our extended family. It started getting crowder around lunch time, soon after we got their. The concept was like chipotle where you get to pick your protein (chicken/falafel), veggies and have a option of making it all in a bowl or a pita. We ordered 3 chicken shawarma whole wheat pita sandwiches and 1 chicken shawarma bowl with couscous. Whole wheat chicken shawarma pita - Pita was soft, chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Pita was nicely stuffed with vegetables and it was really fulfilling. Loved the flavours !!! Bowl - it had the same ingredients but in place of pita we got couscous. Yum !! The newish Gotta Eata Pita has a great location one block west of Hopyard on Owens in Pleasanton. Ambiance - You may be surprised by the size of the dining area as it is quite spacious and can handle large groups. The decor is dark brown with wood and canned lighting and somewhat stark. Only a few pictures on the walls and nothing Greek. Service - Friendly servers dish out ingredients "chipotle style" allowing you to pick and choose how you want to build your meal. Be sure to ask for samples of the Hummus or sauces if you are at all curious. Food- nice variety of vegetable fillings including a tangy purple cabbage, tomato/onion blend, a creamy hummus, lettuce, couscous and more. Highlights include the savory eggplant and the creamy hummus. The Falafels were nicely crunchy on the outside but moist on the inside and exceeded my expectations. I had to wait few minutes for a new batch of chicken to come off the grill, but it was worth it as it came out piping hot and well seasoned with a dry rub. Note that the bowls carry more food than you might first expect because they don't look that large, but can be packed very densely. Pluses - Extremely fast and very fresh. Nice variety of vegetables. What could be better: - Today, I saw one of the workers showing frustration with a customer and it just didn't send a positive vibe in the atmosphere. - The chicken shawarma has pieces of skin on it which makes it a little chewy. Love the concept of being able to get great Mediterranean food in a Chipotle create-your-own serving style! Everything they have is freshly made, wholesome, and delicious! The pita bread is so fluffy, thick, chewy, and fresh, like it just came out of the oven, that it's hard to choose between the pita and the bowl. (Don't believe me? Ask for a sample of the pita/hummus!) Luckily you can get the best of both worlds by choosing the bowl and getting a side of pita bread for an additional $.50. As much as I love their fried-just-right-but-still-moist falafel balls, the price isn't cheaper for going vegetarian. Good thing their all-natural, free-range chicken shawarma is just as tasty. To fill up the pita/bowl, I recommend trying the Israeli cous-cous, the Greek style eggplant, the tabbouleh salad, the purple cabbage salad, and (most definitely) the smooth and creamy hummus with just a dash of s'hug (their very spicy hot sauce). You have to pay extra for the olives, feta cheese, Mediterranean pickles, and roasted peppers, so I can't comment on those. The tahini sauce tasted bitter to me, but not to anyone else in my group of 10. So if you know you have messed up taste buds like me, pass on the tahini to avoid ruining your meal. Wish they had tzatziki sauce instead. Service is very friendly, fast, and helpful but it can be hard to hear over the kitchen noise. Call me a fan and I'm giving it a 5 star review even though I'm fairly stingy with 5 stars. This venue is a chipotle/cafeteria style Mediterranean spot. Simple menu, the actual bowl they put the meat in doesn't look that big when they are packing it however when you sit down to eat it , it's very filling. I had the the chicken schwarma and added some feta cheese b/c "feta makes it betta..." Hearty portions, flavorful fresh meat, and the price is cheap especially for the location (right off of 580). I can see why this place is very popular. They only had two people working the front area when I was there and I felt like 3 should be the minimum for any spot like this (Two on the line and one at the cashier). Essentially the chipotle of pita pockets/mediterranean food. They let you try pieces of their pita + sauce since they snip off the top of the pita pocket to stuff with the fillings. The portions here are very generous, even in the pockets. My friend and I couldn't finish the pocket in one sitting so we had to take the rest to go. I like how the falafel is really crispy here. The eggplant is pretty whatever + makes the pocket soggy so I would go without it next time. Overall it's a good deal for a lot of decent tasting food. There's a lot of room and seating inside. The pita is about 1.5 meals for me and the plate is definitely good for 2+ meals if you aren't starving. Not a bad place for eating a lot on a budget! read more

I then decided to walk in a try something new. I had the stuffed pita and I asked questions about the food and what it's made of. The Israeli Cous Cous was delicious and perfect as a base. It topped it with hummus, Organic Mixed Greens, and an Eggplant Greek Style Salad. I like to keep it simple. This bowl was great! The chicken was marinated so well and full of flavor. The falafels were done just right! I will order the exact same thing next time! The restaurant was clean and well-kept. This place is my go-to when I'm in the area. The food is fresh. The chicken is flavorful and the falafel is just as delicious. This place operates like a Chipotle, in that you will get to customize your bowl or pita wrap. I recommend getting everything and going light on the tahini sauce. Big surprise is that the eggplant looks like a little strange and mushy, but is a big standout amongst everything else that gets added onto your bowl. Something about that eggplant... I also work for a local tech company and they cater from this place a lot. We cater from a bunch of local businesses, yet this one is always a big favorite amongst coworkers.
