No no no. How this place gets a 4 star is beyond me. Not a fan. Worst tasting water even with lemon, and they don't have bottled water to buy. There was a hair in the salsa. We ordered a shredded beef burrito. It was very plain and dry. Tortillas were ok. Rice was warm (not hot) but the beans were flavored well. I would have expected a little garnish, pico, or sour cream on the side to help with the dryness. Walking in, the service was terrible, no one greeted us, they all just walked around doung their thing. The waitress was terrible. Clearly no one is happy to be there. This review is for the Green Valley location. Food tastes just as delicious as the OV location, the space is open and more modern with a large bar (they were just approved for their liquor license). My go to order is chicken enchiladas, Christmas style and I always get 1 shredded beef taco on the side. Their shredded beef tacos are THE BEST!! The combo plate is also good, you get to try a little bit of everything. The chile rellenos are fluffy and not dripping in grease. I first came here's few years ago when I moved to Oro Valley. I don't remember why, but I wasn't crazy about it. I recently went back and I was pleasantly surprised . The service was terrific. They make their own chips which were tasty. And the Margaritas --wow. My husband had the Sopapillas and he couldn't stop talking about how great they were. He even had some leftovers to take home for lunch the next day. Since I don't eat meat I went with Bean Gorditas with potato's and they were also tasty. Where to start? I lived in Albuquerque so know New Mexico style Mexican food. This is not it. We were seated and two very small baskets of thick, hard chips and half filled containers of salsa were placed on a table for a group of eight adults and two youngsters along with six napkin wrapped utensil packs. Orders were taken and a half hour later appetizers arrived along with two more utensil packs and a stock of plates for us to pass around for cheese crisp appetizers. The plates were warm and one came complete with remnants of someone's brownie (the only chocolate anything on the menu). When the waiter was asked to replace the dirty plate he just laughed it off; I failed to see the humor of a dirty plate in the middle of a stack of clean ones. Entrees finally arrived and we had to ask for the remaining two utensil packs. As promised, Hatch chilis are spicy. Several of us had chile rellenos which were the smallest, flattest rellenos I've ever seen having eaten in Mexican restaurants in the US southwest for well over forty years.. The over-riding flavors were heat and old oil. Several of us ordered tacos; five inch fried tortilla shells dripping with oil contained meat overcooked to a crisp. I ordered a steak and a carnitas taco, both looked and tasted the same with on having a little lettuce and one thin slice of tomato. Two in our party ordered chile which they said was good. I ordered Dulce con Leche cheesecake bites for dessert. Almost half an hour later a plate arrived with four hot mini-chimis with a creamy filling on what I believe was a raspberry drizzle and a sprinkling of powdered sugar. These were shared with three others at the table with two only tasting theirs. They did not look like cheesecake, did not taste like Dulce con Lethe or cheesecake, and, like the rellenos and tacos, the fried exteriors were very oily. At the end of the evening it was unanimously agreed that there are many good Mexican restaurants in Tucson, Oro Valley and Marana where we all live but Goyita's is not one of them. Best New Mexican cuisine I've had in Tucson. Careful with the red chile, it's really hot. Best item on the menu: chicken enchiladas. Stopped in for lunch today with some friends who've been here before and liked it except the red chile sauce was too hot for them. Don't expect to be seated when you walk in - just grab menus and seat yourself, otherwise you could be waiting a long time. They seem a little short-staffed. They have a good selection of lunch specials for around $7.50. I ordered the chile rellenos, enchilada-style. They were excellent: small, but you get three so it's a full meal with the rice, beans and a tortilla. The batter was nice and fluffy and the Hatch chiles had a good flavor and just the right amount of heat. Our companions had the chicken enchiladas, which they claim are the best they've had. The chicken stuffing is very "clean" and flavorful with no gristle. The waiter did a great job of keeping my iced tea refilled, which is no small feat as the place was pretty busy. Bottom line: we'll be back because the food is excellent, but don't expect a fast in-and-out meal, and be careful of the red chile heat level. read more

We randomly found out about this restaurant through a mailer that included a coupon for this place and thought, "why not try something new?" We really enjoy the red and green chiles from New Mexico and found that the red chile here was actually pretty spicy (normally, restaurants seem to tone it down for the general public). We ended up ordering the red chile bowl, the shredded beef combo plate, and the chicken tortilla soup. The tortilla soup was super mild and was basically just chicken broth, but was helpful to temper the spice of the chile. The bowl and the plate both had very strong flavors and were well-prepared. They were even still warm by the time we got it back to our house, 20 minutes later. The pricing was also really fair and the portions were large. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back to try some other dishes. The only real downside to this place was that they seemed pretty disorganized with the pick-up process and my husband ended up waiting like 20 minutes for our order (after we waited the 25 minutes we were quoted). This may just be a reflection of their business being short-staffed tonight though. read more

A long time ago this restaurant was decent Got a to go order, we live about 10 minutes away, this is what my flautas looked like. That black blob of crap is supposed to be guacamole!! Looks like it was sitting out since lunch. Flautas were not only cold along with the rice and beans they were hard and burnt. I wouldn't feed this to my dog. Would give them 0 stars if I could. I was recommended to eat here but I wasn't fond of the over fried burnt chips. My taco salad didn't have any dressing (when ask for it, I was charged). I actually went back another time. So, I gave it another chance and the chips were the same, my lunch portion was large but it had no favor for the price $18. The service is par and they have too many tables per station. First and foremost the service was very good, no complaints there. The food was very average though especially for a southern Arizona. Salsa was hardly that, more like a salty watery tomato sauce and the chips weren't great either. We ordered a side of guacamole that had almost no flavor and needed some salt and lime. For my main dish I had the shredded beef enchiladas which was good, but nothing to call home about. Overall I would give 2.5 stars but because the server was very nice and attentive and I enjoyed the margaritas, I give it 3. There are certainly better mexican food options. Goyitas used to be fabulous prior to the pandemic. But recently it has changed in so many ways. Their prices have increased at a much higher rate than any other restaurant we have visited. The food quality always varies from okay to not good at all. Also, the food portions have decreased by at least 30%. Our takeout food is often too cold to eat. We are only 5 minutes away. They now charge a 3.5% surcharge to use your credit or debit card. Our orders are usually over $100. I don't care to carry that much cash. There are just too many other Mexican food restaurants in town that are more consistent in food quality at a better price. I'm sorry to say that my family is not planning on going to Goyitas anymore. Food is decent - seems overpriced for the quality. Portion sizes also used to be much bigger, about double the rice and beans as pictured. Also got a side of green chili sauce and they only filled half of the container, as opposed to the full thing like they used to. Well, this is about the new location in Sahaurita. Today was the 2nd day of it's opening. Let's take it in some order: Brand New Space Remodel: 1 star. OMG, they made it so god awful in there that its nearly impossible to tolerate. Sports Bar TVs everywhere, hollow as a cave and as noisy as a jack-hammer on roids. Bad and butt ugly. Seniors in Green Valley will not support that. 2. Service: 4 stars. Sweet and friendly, helpful and all considered they did well. It did take a full 45 minutes to get our order, but again, only the 2nd day so I understand. 3. Food: 3 stars. Nothing even close to the Oro Valley fare. I had Red Enciladas (hot) and they were only so so. Again, 2nd day so I'm sure it will get better but I gotta say it - it is NOT NM Food. The 'style' was NM, but the flavor, nada. I'll go back, but no alcohol (no beer no margaritas) so it might not be real soon. Maybe it will improve in 30 days. I hope so. We are originally from the El Paso, Texas, Las Cruces, New Mexico area, and know Albuquerque area very well. We know NM Mexican food as well, and usually make it at home ourselves because it's hard to find here in Tucson. We have been going to this restaurant since it opened, as we live a mile away. It used to be OUTSTANDING and did taste like the flavor of Mexican food from New Mexico. So tasty and spicy. We have ordered takeout often, sometimes once a week. The last couple years, the food has been slowly going downhill. Currently, potions are about 30% smaller and the prices are too high for what you get flavor-wise and quantity. The last couple of takeout orders have been very tasteless, cold, with no flavor, and just basically a ripoff! Last night was the last straw. I read a lot of good old reviews about the red chicken enchiladas and the picture on website looks great. But my takeout was so bad. The red chili used to be a deep red and so tasty, now it is a medium, looking orange with no taste of hatch red chili at all! BEWARE. I was so hungry last night, but could only eat maybe half of my dinner and that was very difficult. I fixed myself a sandwich instead. The chicken was grisly and barely there, the ice cream scoop size of rice was mushy and had no flavor, and the 3 tablespoons of beans were the best thing on the plate. I ordered a side of guacamole which came in a small salsa to go container maybe a 1.5 TBSP, and it was $3.55! The guacamole was dark BROWN and no way I could eat it. I just threw it in the trash and now I'm sorry I didn't take a picture to show you. My red chicken enchiladas were $17 and my husband's large combo plate was 20. His was just ok. The rellenos are now very small with old oil taste --not just one time, but multiple times lately. Our bill came to $55 and my husband left a pretty good tip for takeout! The guacamole must have been sitting out for a long time to be that brown. I read a different review that said the same thing. Enchiladas had no flavor and the red chili had no taste. Sorry but I've had hatch chili all my life and what I have gotten several times lately was not even close to the real flavor. I used to order the red chili Colorado / rice & beans to go, but I stopped when I was only getting maybe 4 tablespoons of chili Colorado with rice and beans for close to $16! It was an insult. Our orders the last couple months, have consistently been bad and so not worth $50 for 2 entrées. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anybody! The Management seriously needs to watch the kitchen and orders. The owners must not be around anymore. I just can't believe the difference now. What a shame. They need to be watching all orders and tasting their food, if they're so proud of their hatch chili! We came here on a Friday night. Walked in and stood at the makeshift hostess stand for about 5 minutes. Four different staff walked past us and did not acknowledge us. Finally a young lady greeted us and we advised we had a party of 6. Her eyes got big and she said she could not seat us. She said there were 2 parties of 2 waiting. She did not say there would be a long wait or offer us to have a drink at the bar. There was a party of 6 seated right in front of where we were standing. We were prepared to wait but not to be brushed off completely. This restaurant was recommended to us as our friends had been here before. We are truly disappointed to be treated so poorly. The fried beef tacos are what I have waited for in Tucson on the northwest side of town. The meat is juicy and perfectly flavored. I am in so much trouble now knowing about this place. The salsa is not chunky but thin and very flavorful. The guacamole is so tasty. A small bag of chips is a lot. It is in a plastic at which helps them stay fresh longer. The rice is not the traditional kind but what a great flavor. The beans don't taste fatty which helps the flavor of the beans come through. This is my new taco spot on this side of town! read more

My brother told me about this place and it was on my "to do" list while next in Tucson. I'm partial to New Mexican-style food (AZ native) and Goyita's did not disappoint. Choosing what first to get was the hard part, so I went with a staple I like: Red-Chile Pork. Good amount of heat, not overpowering. Beans were awesome, as were the tortillas. Chips and salsa beforehand were very good, also. If I had to compare Goyita's to anything, I'd say Los Dos Molinos in Phoenix/Mesa/Springerville. Family owned, New Mexican. Awful service considering the place was 25% capacity during lunch on a Saturday. My food arrived at my table cold, so who knows how long it had been sitting in the kitchen waiting to be delivered to the table. Example: Our waitress would ask,"Do you need anything else?", and then totally forget to deliver the item. ?? I even asked if she had forgot about our table in front of the owner, who could have cared less about the issue. He just tuned us out and didn't apologize for the oversight. I would not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends after they also complained about the service and lack of effort. Reasonable prices and good service, atmosphere, and location. Zero vegetables on the menu, as in no salads or anything else resembling a leafy green. Pretty much just meat, cheese, flour, and beans, along with beer and tequila. Be aware they charge a 3.5% surcharge if you don't pay in cash, which isn't disclosed (except for on the fine print of your bill) until after you've paid with your credit card. Totally understand why they'd do it, but just tell your patrons this before you walk off and process their card and add a fee that they reasonably didn't happen to see on the first bill you put on the table. Ordered a chicken burro with beans enchilada style and took one bite and couldn't eat it because it was so spicy hot it burned my mouth sent it back and I still got charged for it. I was so disappointed thought I wouldn't get charged for it because it really wasn't my fault that they didn't warn me to how hot it was.
