We came at opening time at 4pm for dinner. They weren't quite ready as they didn't have the sauce for the mussels but they were able to make a substitute sauce that was out of this world. It was a yummy garlic sauce that we made spicy with red pepper flakes. We got the seafood pasta which didn't have nearly as much flavor as the mussels did. I would have liked a similar sauce in it. Never got water refills. We were handed a carafe after asking which was never poured. By the time we poured our glasses the carafe was empty and we were never refilled. I think having water is the utmost basic and simple thing that should always be done by a waitress. read more

Absolutely terrible! Service was slow, portions small and food (Osso Bucco) was BARELY warm. It took so long to get drinks (20+ minutes) that we went inside to get them ourselves from the bar. This is one of the nicer restaurants in Key West. The place is so nice and a great atmosphere. We sat outside on the porch with nice views of Duval Street. Our server was very nice and did give us separate checks. I ordered the Scallops $42. They were pan seared and delicious but the mash potatoes were not creamy and was disappointed with them. Easily could have eaten another order or two of that. Our house manager at the B&B we are staying at gave us a $20 coupon which we used. Snapper was great my tuna was not. My wife loved her red snapper. My tuna was low grade and not good. To their credit they happily substituted another snapper for me. Which was very good. Our server was simpatico. We stopped for lunch. Nice setting in an old house. Our server Rudú was very nice. The place was empty when we arrived, and then quickly filled up by 2:00pm. The restaurant setting is in an old house, a touch of sophisticated art decor. Pleasant. The food took awhile to come, and I had to go put more money in the parked car half a block away. Rudú explained they were down 2 cooks in the kitchen. By the time I came back eating was in progress. While I left they were nice to keep my meal warm in the kitchen. Our table ordered Steak Frites, Fresh Snapper Sandwich and Shrimp PoBoy. Steak Frites was not liked. The meat was not tender. The salad delicious, fries, ok. Snapper(Grilled) was a good sandwich, came with Fries. Shrimp PoBoy was delicious with 4-5 shrimps inside the bread. Crème Brûle & Ice Cream to finish. read more

This place is a gem amongst the frat party of Duval street. Situated in a quaint old home, Grand cafe doesn't disappoint. The food is outstanding. Good old fashion home cooking with an elegant flair. Their martinis and old fashions are top notch as well. The staff was kind and allowed us to sit early for our reservation. While the food and drinks were simply amazing our server was a tad on the slow side. we had a hard time finding him a few times. But it didn't make for a horrible dining experience. This was our first dinner out in 2021. The weather was perfect so warm and not too humid. We had a choice of indoor or outdoor dining. The tables inside were socially distanced. All of the staff wore masks and we felt comfortable eating there. We shared the bruschetta which was delicious. I have severe food allergies snd they were able to accommodate me and prepare an entree off menu which I totally appreciated. The owner was super nice she stopped by our table for a chat and made us feel welcomed. The restaurant itself is in an old Victorian home with its original charm. It's eclectically decorated which worked with the home's original features. For a Monday night the place was packed. Definitely check it out. read more

Calamari tasted like the frozen bag stuff from Costco, the Osso Bucco and Beef Short Rib was OK but just OK, meat was tender but there wasn't much flavor. Service was very slow, but the patio seating is good people watching and the weather was nice so that didn't bother us. Overall, just OK. My wife an I have been vacationing in the keys for the last 10+ years and every time we come down we ALWAYS make it a point to make reservations here. After the last three visits now of going here, our service has been HORRIBLE. made reservations for 8:30 this year and it took forever to be seated. 30min after being sat with NOBODY coming to the table to even ask we we would like water. Nobody even LOOKED at us while we were seated, even though it was directly next to the front door. This was the case just three months prior on our last visit as well. WELL over an hour and a half to get food that trip. After the 30min wait this time I knew how it was going to go so, to avoid it we just got up and left without a single word from ANY staff there. Truly and really one of the worst places to make reservations for a meal now. It's a huge hassle. A huge inconvenience. A huge waste of your time. The food used to be great and who knows, it may still be on your off chance you get there and you will be able to be served. May luck be on your side. We will be avoiding the grand cafe sadly for a while, there are too many other options on the island for better food and better service. Do yourself the favor and find them, it isn't hard! HORRIBLE service experience, possibly the worst I have ever experienced. We made reservations at 7:15 and arrived early. Seated exactly at 7:15. It took 10 minutes to even be recognized by our waiter. We waited 45 minutes once seated for our drinks and an hour once seated for our appetizer. The food arrived TWO HOURS after we were seated. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. Plenty of staff were visible to accommodate the amount of guests. Servers were simply not present and disappeared at times. For the cost I would expect much more. You'll unfortunately receive better service at a chain steakhouse than this establishment. I will never return and will gladly spread the word on our experience. An absolute waste of our evening. read more

We were here on a Thursday for happy hour 5-7, which was half price drinks and appetizers, and we were very pleased with our meal. We had a delicious rum runner, not a mix, and it was generous with the rum. We ordered 3 appetizers for a meal, Calamari, mussels in spicy red sauce, and conch fritters, and it was the perfect amount of food. I love conch fritters, and having been to Key West about 10 times, you would think I would have found some write home about conch fritters, but not until now! They were chock full of conch, and the dough was super moist, almost wet, soooooo good. The Calamari was freshly made, not fried from frozen, and the mussels were in a very spicy red sauce, just how I like them. Everything was great, and with all the great happy hours in Key West, I would definitely recommend this one. read more

This is right on Duval St closer to the cruise port side. We walked here since we were staying in the area. We decided on this place since we were told almost everywhere else that they had no seating left for the rest of the evening (at 8:00p). By the time we got here, it was about 8:30p. The hostess was with another woman (maybe the manager) and the woman that wasn't the hostess told us it would be about 15-20 min since a table had just gotten dessert and should be done shortly. She offered us over to the bar. The bar area was nice. Cool ceilings and the bartender was quick with making the drinks and was friendly. As orders came in, she made them quickly and served everyone in the area. It began getting filled with people waiting on tables. So, about an hour later - we finally got sat. The woman did apologize to us saying that the people took longer than expected but I feel almost trapped into waiting since we probably could've found a place and at already at this point. We got sat at a table on the porch so it was elevated from the tables down below in the yard (if you've been to key west - you know most places are inside old houses. Our waitress was urgent and memorized all our orders with no mistakes! She seemed a little overwhelmed but was able to serve us quickly anyway. We got a bread basket that was not what I was as expecting. One of my friends enjoyed it but to me it was like a basket of wonder bread - not something you would get at a more upscale restaurant. I ordered the Clams Linguine in white wine sauce. It was soooo delicious - and it made me feel like it was worth the wait. What was cool is that you can choose what sauce you get with it which I've never really seen at other restaurants. About half way through our meal - a table below us began smoking since there are no laws in key west about smoking in areas where food is served so beware if this is a big deal - in door seating maybe preferred. All and all - my meal was as very good. I would rate that a 5 but with the overall wait and experience - that is why the rating is low. read more

Went here last night. The service was OK .. order Caipirinhas and what we got was horrendous and not a Caipirinha. There was 1 lime and no sugar in the drink and the liquor tasted like Mezcal. We were visiting Key West on vacation. My daughter wanted to eat here. She ordered the seafood pasta with white sauce and I ordered the red Thai curry. We also ordered salads. My daughter started eating the pasta and immediately saw a piece of hair in the pasta. This turned her off and she did not eat the meal. She did eat some of my curry and dipped the bread in it. She liked the curry. We did let the server know that she didn't eat the food and we would not be taking it with us due to hair in the food. She did nothing and gave us the bill. I did tip her because it was not her fault. However they have no customer service. This was the first time in months that my daughter was getting pasta and this was a big disappointment. Stopped in just as the restaurant was closing on a Sunday. Sat at the bar for a couple of drinks. The interior is like walking into an old southern house. The bar is area is very nice and cozy. Ordered 2 martinis, carmel and chocolate. Ordered martinis because someone at the bar was raving about them. Have to say, presentation wise these were the least appealing martinis I have ever seen.
