I would not even feed it to my pups. I thought my wife just didn't like it but after I tasted it I had to spit it out, rinse my mouth, and brush my teeth. I order country fried steak which was not too bad but the sides were awful. The role was as hard as a brick. Got 2 pieces of pie, which I assumed they made. I was wrong, since they clearly came out of a box. We have eaten here several times in the past, but will never ever eat there again. We stopped at this little country diner trying to get breakfast during a lunch crowd. I reviewed some of the bad post and after eating here, decided these reviewers were expecting a 5 star Big city cuisine in the hills of Tenn. Folks, Grandmothers people are just genuine folk fixing something good to eat. Grandmother still works there as she did 25 years ago. The servings were ample and we went away full. The staff provided 5 star service. If you come in looking to give a bad review, you certainly can find your ammunition. But if you want to go in, eat a decent meal and drink a cup of coffee with good people, you'll like Grandmothers. Don't forget your cash... that's all they take, which I applaud. Never eat at Grandmothers Kitchen! Long story short we went in November 7 at 1:15. Never acknowledged we were waiting, finally we sit down, and waitress shows up. No hi etc. given menus and leaves. Acknowledgeded three other other groups, seats them, gives them menus, tells specials, and takes drinks order and brings them drink order and two group get their food. My husband ask if she can take our drink orders. Never tells us the specials. Waitress goes back to the others and refills drink orders. Finally our food comes two order, them 3 minutes later another comes, then 5 minutes later the last order comes without bacon on the hamburger. The food was not worth the money and no service! Barely average food. Breakfast for 4 people was expensive for what you get. Plus beware, they charge a $2 "convenience" fee for using a bank card. You don't know this until you go up to pay. I love this little place. It's always a good lunch when I'm around PF/Sevierville. It's away from the tacky Disneyland that is Pigeon Forge and has great country food at a reasonable price. I've had both breakfast and lunch and they were both delicious and very filling. The staff is really friendly and it honestly does feel a step away from a grandmother's kitchen - in a good way. My bf remarked that the sweet tea was good, brewed tea, not that powder crap that tastes fake. I also had a slice of pie which was very good. They had a lot of great country food options on the menu. Definitely worth a try if you're visiting and looking for a good southern meal. A word of warning - the bathrooms are outside and the doors don't latch well. I had a family of four walk in on me. The owners go out of their way to engage with you and the locals all say hey. We ate here at the end of a weekend that did not go to plan at all. Meant to spend 3 days in the smokies but ended up spending most of our time in Gatlinburg and PF. This place was the PERFECT antidote to the Parkway and the PERFECT meal to end our time in Tennessee. We shared the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy and the fried chicken with cornbread. Our waitress was friendly and informative, the place was busy, but orders came out very quickly.
