    French onion soup
    Jaci K.

Granger's is a one-of-a-kind favorite spot for many delray locals. From the outside it doesn't look like anything spectacular, but I definitely misjudged this place! They are a scratch kitchen- meaning everything is fresh. It's so hard to find places that don't use frozen entrees! This being said, once they run out of something (and believe me they will), it's gone for the day. I made the mistake of coming towards closing time. Sadly, they were out of all burgers and many other items. Get there early! Also, service is currently a little slow. They have signs posted everywhere to make customers aware that they are understaffed. So come with an appetite and some patience! The food I managed to order was delicious. The grilled cheese was crispy on the outside and perfectly melted on the inside. The homemade chips on the side were hot and crispy- delivering the perfect crunch with each bite! Very happy I opted for the chips over fries! French onion soup was delicious, but a little salty for my liking. There was a giant piece of bread in the bowl, so it wasn't actually a lot of actual soup. Worth trying, but I probably wouldn't order this again. Whether you're local to Delray or just visiting, make sure you stop by this spot! Your taste buds will be delighted!

This restaurant has been in business for many years. I used to go to it when it was in a gas station. This is the first time I've gone in I don't know how many years it's very nice and clean inside. The bathroom was even clean. The food is good I had the tuna salad open face Came with coleslaw and macaroni salad. When I said I didn't want macaroni salad she said I could have two coleslaw so but if I ordered anything else would be five dollars up charge which I wasn't interested in doing also had fish and chips which were just OK the turkey burger which was good and a Reuben which was just OK. Service was OK. It's an easy place for a quick bite parking lot parking

    Ground Beef or Steak?
    Nellie C.

1 star because I got a Philly cheesesteak (no cheese). Is this steak or ground beef? I notice the owner comments on everything. You had just walked out while I was checking out. I don't hide behind screens. So what's up? I brought it up to my server and the cashier. That is not steak. It was 10/10 for flavor. What you sell on the menu and what I got was different. That's false advertisement. Plus the server talked to another server while I can hear, that I asked if it was steak or not. Very disappointed. Owner since you will rebuttal, let's do it face to face. Scared?

We had lunch here last weekend and I'm so glad we did! Service was great, friendly and helpful. The food was good too and great value for the portions. The sweet tea was my favorite part!!! We'll be back for sure!

The Rueben is no longer delicious; it just lacks that unique flavor it once had. I'd mention that they no longer have kale slaw, but things change so I'll have to live with it. The chicken Caesar salad also fails to compare with its former glory. Overall, nowhere near the quality and missing the the wow factor of years past.

The perfect spot! I came in for lunch in the mood for a fresh salad with chicken and some honey mustard and they had just what I wanted! The chicken was so flavorful and fresh and the salad was also crispy and fresh. The kale slaw was just the right and the waitress and service was great! The food came out quick and there were so many great options on the menu I can't wait to come back. I would go out of my way to come back here. The ambiance is like a diner but a bit more upscale. Highly recommend!

This was our first time going but certainly won't be our last. For a Wednesday evening it was really busy so that was a good sign. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They have bar seat, hi-tops, and regular tables. I tried their French Onion Soup made with bourbon. Ermagerd!! Such cheesy goodness and chunks of bread and onion. Very flavorful and easily one of the best that I have ever had. Hubby wanted the blackened meatloaf but it wasn't available (hopefully next time) so he had the Reuben. Wowzers, it was huge and very tasty. He even liked the coleslaw which is sometimes an afterthought. It's a bit noisy so it was difficult to have a conversation but it is also well lit and comfortable.

New to the area & had an unbelievable meal. Ricki was a great server. Burger was Amazing and salad was so big my wife couldn't finish it . Baby Liam said we will be back!

Stopped in randomly for a quick lunch. Club sandwich for me and a burger for the boyfriend. Burger was a bit overcooked (med well) ordered medium but still good. Club was huge and tasty! Pricey for lunch but portions were large enough to share. Lots of leftovers! Service was good for a quiet Wednesday afternoon.

Whats left of the clam strips @ fried green tomatoes
    Lisa H.

Wow, really great lunch / dinner place in Delray. I ordered one of the lunch special, clam strips. They also had fried oysters and a smoked bbq beef brisket sandwich... hard decision. The menu alone was terrific with way too many good choices. I already see myself returning. It was not very busy at 11:30 am on a Saturday.. i was surprised and happy as ive been dealing with crowds everywhere. I could seat myself and Ian was my server. He was the best.. My clam strips were a bit crispy and he was concerned but thats the way i like them.. they were more than strips, they were really wide meaty clams. The batter was delicious and i got a small orrder of fried green tomatoes vs fries, also great. Ian accommodated this request as it was not on the menu. The atmosphere is fun.. they do have a full bar, wine and beer on tap. There are tabkes, hightops and a counter. Parking is easy, a big plus in Delray and the prices are average. I was so impressed with the meal i ordered the brisket sandwich for take out. Update: The Brisket Sandwich was awesome.

We had a good lunch here last week. We were looking for diner type food and this restaurant fit the bill. There is plenty of free parking in their parking lot. Inside was spacious with regular tables, high tops, and a counter/bar. Our waitress was friendly and personable. We were told the lunch specials and our drink orders were taken right away. They had one left of their pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich special and my husband got it. He said the sandwich was very good -- cheesy with pork -- that he dipped in the bbq sauce. It came with fries. They were just okay. I started with a cup of conch chowder. The "cup" was as big as a bowl and very good. Lots of veggies in a thick tomato base with nice bits of conch in it. She brought over some Sherry for it. After tasting the soup, it had enough pizazz and a touch of spice that it really didn't anything else added fo it. I followed the soup with a coconut shrimp appetizer. It too was very good. It came with some pineapple based dipping sauce. As I'm allergic to pineapple, I asked for something else. We figured out honey mustard dressing would be a decent substitute and it was perfect. We'd certainly come back again in the future if in the area...

In full view of the Manager. Who did absolutely nothing. He Just observed. We didn't know them and had not said a word in their direction. They decided to pick a fight by inferring that my friend and I were engaged in a romantic relationship. They weren't as polite about it as what I've just expressed, of course. They used that Lovely F word that ends with a G. Maybe they were drunk or high. I don't know. But they certainly carried themselves like they thought they were on a rerun of the Sopranos. I told the manager that I wanted him to call the police or I also offered to just leave but explained that I wasn't paying a penny. So it was his choice. He did not want to call the police, apparently and so told me to leave, but also never to return. Apparently, he had a blame the victim philosophy. No apology. Nothing. So we walked away. As if I would ever go back. And that's the irony of what happened next. And this is true. And it's all documented on film. As my friend and I walked down the street, I was suddenly grabbed by members of the Delray police. Who also held off my friend from getting too close to me. So he started filming from a little bit of a distance. They threw me into an alley, put handcuffs on me, caused me some significant pain, and then told me never to go back to that restaurant again. Basically roughed me up on behalf of the manager. It's actually all on video. We have the video. My friend wanted to go to court and sue the owners and police, naturally. My general sense was that it was probably best to avoid that sort of thing. I grew up in an area with this stuff going on, although not as overt as what happened here. And I'm just not interested in engaging with these types of people. So I decided to not challenge the police nor the obvious gangster(s) who sent them to rough me up. You've been warned. And the reason you don't read reviews like this very often as I think most people get the message. A lot of Delray is run like Atlantic City or New Jersey was many years ago. Although probably not as efficiently.

The lobster appetizer was phenomenal. The chicken oysters, I personally don't see the hype there but the potato served with them is both the crispiest and the softest potato I've ever eaten. The short rib entree with mole sauce was as tender and flavorful as can be. The local jerk swordfish was cooked perfectly and everything on that plate together created wonderful bites. Cornbread dessert was my choice, I love cornbread and that hit the mark with the blueberry compote and ice cream. One nitpick, and this is absolutely a nitpick. The string lights that hang down the wall to the tables are filthy. So dirty they looked like twine rope. Now that didn't change my experience or make me question the cleanliness of the kitchen at all. That food was perfect. We never felt rushed and had plenty of time to look over the menu before ordering. We started with the Steak Tartare, served with beer-battered smoked onion petals, truffle, egg yolk, and manchego. It was excellent and one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the Za'atar Roasted Local Vegetables with spicy greens, feta tzatziki, lime pickles, and pepitas. It was good, but it wasn't my favorite dish. For our entrées, one person ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese with pork and beef ragu, housemade raw milk ricotta, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. It was rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. We also ordered the Jerk Local Swordfish from Fort Lauderdale with braised Swiss chard, local radish escovitch, and jackfruit miso beurre blanc. While the swordfish itself was cooked well, I wasn't a fan of the jerk seasoning. The flounder, however, was outstanding and probably my favorite entrée. To drink, I had the Les Fumées Blanches Orange Sauvignon Blanc, which I really enjoyed. Someone else had an Old Fashioned. For dessert, we shared the Affogato with mascarpone ice cream, dark chocolate, and espresso, and it was a perfect ending to the meal. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and we appreciated being able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. It is on the pricey side, but that's fairly typical for a farm-to-table restaurant using quality ingredients. There's a small parking lot behind the restaurant, and we were lucky enough to grab a spot. Overall, it's a fun place for a date night or a nice dinner with family. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. Or if you want, they have a great bar and you can hang out there and have a bite.
