The stuffing was mushy and had little seafood flavor. My wife ordered broiled seafood combo and I had the steak tips. Both of us ordered and paid extra for the side salad. Wife raved about the blue cheese dressing. My steak tips were a perfect medium rare with nice charred grill marks. Her combo had the same mushy stuffing on them and she didn't care for her fish. If we come back we'll likely stick to beef dishes. The craft beer list was limited to a few IPA choices and no other beer styles, so sad. read more

Our meal on April 27 was a shared appetizer of southwest egg rolls (four pieces, decent size and great taste though dipping sauces not especially inventive -- tiny bit of guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream); an order of broiled scallops and a special of Imperial Haddock (broiled haddock topped with panko bread crumbs and lump crab meat). Sides of baked potato (scallops) and fries (haddock). Meal starts with warm, delicious bread. Drinks were two specialty jumbo margaritas. I had the Cadillac (Cabo Wabo Silver); wife had the Pomegranate (not sure which tequila). EXCELLENT. 1 app, 2 entrees, 3 margaritas came to $70 before the tip. Went there yesterday for lunch. Ordered the Shrimp and steak listed for 17.79 and my friend order the scallop and steak. the only thing we did different was ordered the steak with teriyaki sauce when we got the bill we were charged 4.00 more for each plate because of the teriyaki sauce. So we were charged the night price with lunch time portion. When we questions the waitress she said its the computer. I spoke to the Manager and she could care less just said its the computer. Such a good meal! I had the teriyaki steak tips and lobster pie. The steak was perfectly cooked and excellent. Chicken breast was over grilled and rice was not fresh but leftover from yesterday and cold, waitress was great,drinks good.The way I found out about the rice was I ordered a meal to go with the rice w/spinach and it had flavor and fresh made and was still warm when I got home. We had dinner on Friday, June 16th, couldn't be more disappointed and dissatisfied. The meal was overly salty and were overcharged for our entree. The waitstaff never came by to ask us how things were going. When the manager came over he wasn't remorseful. It's too bad that was once a great restaurant has gone downhill. We had a nice meal at Grassfields in Andover. The food was very good and the prices were reasonable. The place seemed fairly busy upon arrival on a warm Tuesday evening and we were seated expediently with no wait. My friend and I decided to skip appetizers and ordered our dinners with salad (add $2.49 -we shared).. The salad was fresh which had chopped romaine lettuce with sliced plum tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing was tangy. The warm loaf of sliced bread with butter was pretty good. For dinner, we enjoyed the Lobster Pie & Teriyaki Tips ($16.99) with rice pilaf and the 12 oz Sirloin Steak with Brown Gravy ($14.99) with rice pilaf. The steaks were tender and moist inside, cooked to our liking. The brown gravy was enjoyable for dipping the cut steak. The lobster pie (small size dish) was pretty good topped with crushed Ritz crackers crumbs. The rice pilaf was a very good side choice which had a nice chicken flavor with a soft texture and spinach in the mix as well. Finally, we shared the Grassfield's Avalanche ($5.49) was a very sweet cold dessert, which had soft vanilla ice cream, caramel, pecans, and topped with whipped cream. The total check with 2 drinks (Diet Pepsi & coffee) came out to under $49 before tip. The service here was very good and prompt, as we received our food in timely order. We were also given free refills on the Diet Pepsi and coffee, which was much appreciated. My boyfriend loves to eat at high-end restaurants so I have had the pleasure of eating a lot of amazing, delicious, extravagant meals. Grassfields is not high-end. It is reputable for catering to older customers, I am 30 years old. That being said: If I was going to be put to death, I would choose my last meal as follows: Grassfields starter salad with the house dressing (a vinaigrette that is not too sweet and perfectly tangy), their steak teriyaki and baked stuffed shrimp combo (my mouth waters just thinking of it), with a side of their amazing rice pilaf (YUM, cannot be beat) followed by their Avalanche sundae for dessert - which is scoops of vanilla ice cream, smothered in caramel and topped with honey roasted pecans (So simple, but amazingly satisfying) The first time I ever had this meal was at Jimmy's Steerhouse in Arlington (their sister-restaurant) and I have been getting it ever-since! I can't vouch for anything else on the menu because this is my absolute favorite meal of all time and I wouldn't dream of ordering anything else, but everyone that I have brought to Grassfields was impressed! My boss gave us a gift certificate here and I'm soooo glad he did, because we wouldn't have tried it otherwise. From start to finish it was an amazing experience. I got the teriyaki steak tips (some of the absolute best I've ever had), the lobster pie (HUGE lobster chunks), and the rice pilaf (delicious). My boyfriend got the tips and baked stuffed shrimp which were delicious as well. The bread they give you beforehand is great as well. We had great service which was awesome as well. Our server was honest and gave us some awesome recommendations. A lot of reviews mentioned the "older crowd" which is true, but who cares! They know where to get good food for a deal! Came here at 9:10 pm Saturday. During Covid, we are sat in the next booth next to a 6 person family. What??? I can smell them. Covid can't be far behind. We had two stale cold rolls for a free appetizer. Sat for 15 minutes before my drink was finally served. With ice to the brim. 5 minutes after getting my drink, the waitress finally took my order. Grassfields was 4 stars on Yelp so I had to try it. You can get here from 495 or through the back roads. It's tucked into a little shopping center behind the McDonald's. It turns out to be very much worth its four stars. I found a place to park and noticed this parking lot was very crowded, even for a Wednesday night. They sat me right away in the upper deck area, and everyone smiled and was friendly. I could see everyone in the place was happy to be there. The menu surprised me at how inexpensive everything was; the hard part was choosing which of the wonderful dinner choices I wanted. I was a little less hungry so I went with the filet with a simple baked potato and side salad. They asked me if I wanted bread, so I said yes and they brought me a huge loaf of fresh out of the oven sesame bread that was very good. My steak I ordered medium rare which normally means I get it medium. It was not only medium rare, but cooked to perfection where there was no raw part, it sliced like butter was was delicious. Salad and baked potato were perfect, and I wasn't stuffed when I left. My only thought was that I would have loved to have taken a slice of apple pie back with me when I left, but that's not on the menu. Maybe next time. read more

There are multiple locations. Jimmy's in Arlington was the first. They still give a salad with the meal. You have Grassfields in Andover and Waltham. Same as Jimmy's no salad included with entree. Best rice pilaf, best teriyaki marinade, awesome fried zucchini sticks. Love the combos land/sea. Shrimp and haddock both with bread stuffing they put peppers sweet peppers in the stuffing. Ghirardelli' brownie Sunday for $6.99 is outstanding as well. I love their house margarita as well. Huge and delicious---(I do not like to taste the liquor in a drink) they are around $7. Iced tea is fresh brewed. Homemade loaf of bread for the table. Smart Casual dress. No reservations unless 6 people, wait around meal times. Another restaurant by the same owner is Mario's in Lexington. Great: pizza, lasagna. The chicken cutlets with the lasagna are chicken tenders loaded with cheese. Even though the chicken is tenders it is good. The veal for veal parm is ok. Very casual. Usually a wait at meal times. Unsure about reservations. You can order a party tray of some items. If a holiday, or game order ahead. They do not always have them. All of these restaurants are reasonably priced and have been consistently good since I was a child. I am now 54. The food was really good as always, this time we got three meals: steak tips , scallops, and salmon royale. The steak tips are legendary in the area and the rice pilaf is always great. The scallops were excellent and I was told the salmon royale was as well. The wait staff has always been good, so no issues there. My complaint and the reason why I am writing this review, is the bar. Since they do not have any draft beer we did something unusual for us and ordered two whiskey sours, and they came back with NO ALCOHOL at all! We sent them back and they came back with a splash of whiskey on the top. I guess you can't expect much for a $10 drink anymore! The morale of the story is: enjoy the food, it is high quality at a good price but if you are going to drink alcohol just get wine or beer whenever you go to Grassfields. read more
