It was our first time to celebrate our birthdays. The service was great and food as soooo good. We ordered 2 pizza( Marguerite and Garlic creamy sauce with sausage. 2 pasta, Rigatoni and one vegan. They were delicious. We also ordered the tomato Bread that was sooo good. We had an amazing dinner. Would definitely come back again. Also, they comp us $50 GC becoz they can't give us out left over (3 pcs) pizza and small amount of pasta. Some glass broke closed to our food that it wasn't safe to take it to go, they offer a GC or remake the pizza and pasta. . That was really good customer service.

I love love love that there is such a gem in Truckee like Great Gold. The food is amazing - the pizza is incredible, light, thin, soft witu crispy crust. We got the mushroom pizza and the caramelized onions were out of this world. We also got the parpadelle and it was so good too. Vibe is nice, modern, and spacious, but quite loud inside

Came here as my friends and I were headed back from a Tahoe trip. Came here on a Sunday night and the place was packed, I definitely recommend getting a resy if you are in the area! We all got a combo of a bunch of different dishes. We started with the Caesar salad (was amazing!) and the meatballs which were the perfect amount of rich but cozy. For mains we all got an assortment of pasta and shared the special of the night, which was the chicken parm pizza (yum!). I got the rigatoni, which comes in a spicy vodka sauce, which was delicious, rich, and comforting. Overall, I can't wait to come back here! The food, the service, and the quality of the ingredients used were all amazing.

Elevated place in Truckee that focuses on farm to table Italian food. Great service and food came out pretty fast even though we had a big party. You can make reservations online beforehand if you have more people. My favorite was the rigatoni, the pasta was perfectly cooked, very saucy and the burrata on top was so fresh. There's little bits of pancetta that just tie everything together.

We had a "Great" experience at Great Gold. We came in for my mom's birthday dinner. As we sat down, the waiter handed my mom a birthday card, signed by all restaurant staff. That was a nice touch. We shared the prosciutto pizza as an app. The finely sprinkled cheese on the crust was a game changer. Unfortunately the pizza had balsamic on it which I do not like. It did not state it had on the menu, so I probably would have chose another pizza. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The chicken looked delicious. I ordered the tagliatelle. The pasta was cooked perfectly, portion size was medium- definitely could have kept going! Our hippie waiter was great. He was funny and made the night entertaining. The automatic 6% medical fee is tacky.

This place was hopping on a Friday night! Love the indoor and outdoor setup and the vibe. Like any place going off the hook, it was hard to hear. I couldn't tell if they had some sound absorbing things on the ceiling but if not, maybe an idea? Ok to the food...The beef carpaccio packed a punch of flavor! Especially if you combine the beef, arugula salad, aioli, parm and truffle shavings on the fresh made flatbread in one bite - yum! The brick oven Margherita pizza was very good and I love that fresh ingredient taste. I was torn between pasta or pizza so will have to go back and try some pasta next time. The person next to me had hot salami pizza and that actually looked really scrumptious as well. Grilled broccolini was also good and would recommended - although I would prefer a little more time on the grill to get some char and to make it less al dente. The server/bartender I had, Liz, is probably the friendliest and best customer service I have ever received. 5 Stars for her and she deserves a raise!! I hear they are opening up a second location in Reno at the Rancharra maybe later this year which I am really looking forward to if that is true. I am guessing in the old Grafted location which would be a great choice. Go try this spot and enjoy!

The quality of the food, and the care that used to go into preparing and presenting it, has completely fallen off a cliff. During my most recent visit this week I noticed that much of the kitchen staff seemed to be different from the team I've seen over the past few years. The pizza was genuinely disappointing. The crust lacked flavor, the toppings were sparse and it felt like something that had been rushed out of the kitchen with little attention to detail. Even the presentation was careless, which was surprising because this restaurant used to take pride in what they served. It's frustrating to see a place that I used to recommend decline this much. I really hope the upper management takes a look at what's happening to the restaurant because the Old Town Tap I used to enjoy no longer seems to exist.

My fiancé and I were celebrating our ENGAGEMENT with a party of 9. We had been looking forward to this place for SO long and were so excited to spend an entire evening here. For VERY important context, both my fiancé and I were restaurant and bar managers for several years. Neither of us have ever raised our voice at anybody working at a restaurant, bar, etc. We are literally an entire crew of service workers or former service workers who are very respectful of the entire industry and its practices. When we walked up, the older blonde woman working the front was extremely hostile and rude from the jump. I was trying to ask questions about the venue, food options, etc before we went in, and she began barking at us for IDs immediately. Not a single hi, welcome in, etc. Just immediately aggressive. My fiancé, who is 27, gave her his Oregon ID. Considering this state is literally a few hours away, you would think they are fairly familiar with this ID, but apparently not! She began aggressively and repeatedly bending the ID to the point we sincerely thought it was going to snap it in half. Despite it being obviously real after looking at it under a light (Oregon has very specific and complicated patterns, it's widely known as the hardest ID to make a fake of), she said she didn't believe that it was real. We were a bit baffled, and insisted it definitely was. She asked my partner what his zip code was, and because we had just moved, he gave her our current zip before realizing she meant the one on his ID. She laughed and said "nope, i'm keeping this! This is a fake". She said because he said the zip code wrong, she wasn't going to give it back. At this point I got angry. I told her that 1. It is 1000% a real ID and 2. It is completely illegal to hold somebody's ID hostage. Her and her coworker got really defensive and told me to "just calm down" despite her continuously bending it and laughing. She kept saying "I'm allowed to keep it if it's fake" which it WASNT. It is completely illegal what she was doing. This is THEFT OF PROPERTY, so I was absolutely not going to calm down. My fiancé called his parents to hopefully get a photo of his passport to diffuse the situation. The older woman who was holding us hostage demanded to TAKE HIS PHONE and speak to his mom. She then grabbed it and walked all the way down the sidewalk, spinning around and giggling. It was one of the most bizarre things I had ever witnessed, and frankly, we believe she was intoxicated. Her coworkers looked incredibly embarrassed and wouldn't even make eye contact with us. She finally came back and we took the ID and phone back from her. She never once apologized for stealing our property, almost breaking it, and falsely accusing us of committing a crime. Not even an inkling of remorse. Just giggling. I told her how absolutely unprofessional and illegal everything she just did was. Luckily, we have legal resources that we will absolutely be exploring this week, because no patron deserves to be held hostage, have their property stolen, and not even receive an apology. Not only did RMU tarnish what was supposed to be one of the happiest nights of our lives, they lost out on thousands of dollars (that we spent elsewhere that night) from our party because their hostess had a major power trip. To make matters even worse, we had other folks join up with us later that night who also stopped by RMU and had equally unpleasant experiences. They all said that the same rude hostess was bending the ever loving life out of their IDs and being incredibly snarky.

I was a little concerned on my drive up to the spot, since you turn off the main road, go up the hill and onto a side street with more than its fair share of potholes. I was seated next to the window and my server, Lee, introduced himself. I was there in time to see the sun dip below the hills and the lights come up on the Main Street below. It really does offer a picturesque view. My friend arrived and she ordered their "famous" Caesar salad and I got the crispy chicken sandwich. We were both quite happy with our choices. I tried hers and the dressing had a touch more anchovy than I prefer, but that's why I don't order Caesar salads. My chicken sandwich came with a generous heap of fries, lightly spiced, and I enjoyed the cabbage and the fact that the bun held up to the contents well. There is a decent wine selection as well as a full bar and signature cocktails, for those who want to imbibe. I went with a cup of Earl Grey, since I'd driven up from the Bay Area and needed a drop of caffeine to stay alert. We shared their carrot cake for dessert and it hit its mark. Not overly sweet, a hint of cream cheese in the frosting. Lee's service was friendly, but not intrusive. We were well taken care of. The food is more than decent, not groundbreaking, but perfect for a good meal after travel or a long day. It also feels like a local's place, not trying too hard to attract tourists.
