I ordered the cinnamon sugar latte which was really not sweet at all to my surprise, and she brought me over some vanilla syrup without me even asking! I also ordered the mac and cheese, chicken and maple donuts, and the eggs benedict. The mac and cheese is a MUST TRY. We all shared it and loved every bite it is so delicious, creamy, and not overwhelming with cheese flavor. The chicken and maple donuts were very good I just wish that they were a bit softer and warmed up! The eggs benny was very good and I loved the scalloped potatoes on the side. I've heard so much lore about the Great Maple, so I had to check it out for myself! The hype around the Chicken and Donut plate is real and absolutely justified. My chicken pieces were juicy and well crisped, and the donuts were fluffy and just the right amount of fluffiness. The salad was balanced and well dressed, not too soaked and not dry. Ribeye hash was great paired with the salad. Lots of different textures and tastes happening across these three dishes. The service was fantastic, and everyone had a smile on their face and a can do attitude. I'm on the fence about the ambiance of the restaurant itself, and perhaps it's because I may not fit the aesthetic of the other guests dining myself. Also had the truffles fries with them and they're good but after some bites of the sandwich, the taste overpowers the truffle in the fries. Great maple is a nice brunch place if you happen to be in fashion island! We popped in here on a Friday at around 12 and were immediately seated without waiting which was nice. For food, we ordered the speciality donuts, the fried chicken and donuts, truffle fries, and their ribeye hash. The donuts were good - a bit too sweet though! The truffle fries were delicious though and came with a big portion. The fried chicken was good, nothing special, but the ribeye hash was quite salty! Overall, the food was just alright. The service and ambiance of this restaurant was great though. At the end, you are given an adorable post card with your check! We came here because 2 other restaurants at Fashion Island did not allow dogs on their outdoor patio. So I'm happy this place allows dogs. Location, ambiance and patio are excellent. Service was good too. However, food was disappointing, especially the burger. I asked for the burger medium and it came well done. Went to Great Maple for Saturday brunch and it was amazing. Heard it was dog friendly so we were going to bring our pup and sit outside but since we were running late we decided to leave him at home. There was maple syrup on the doughnuts and the fried chicken. It was a lot of food for me so I took half of it home. I also had the cinnamon toast latte 2x which was really good. Food was definitely 5 stars. My boyfriend ordered a cup of coffee and for some reason it was spilled all over the plate underneath the cup so much to the point the napkin on the plate was SOAKED. We thought okay maybe there was a little accident. However, when the waitress came to refill his coffee she just dumped it out in his cup carelessly to the point where it spilled next to his cup onto the table. Seemed a bit rude but we didn't say anything cause we didn't want to spoil our otherwise good brunch. Service was 2-3 stars. Suggestion for the restaurant: when u know you have a TON OF RESERVATIONS - set up a separate stand so that the walk-ups and the reservation guests are not ho mingling and do not have to wait on the same line. The drinks are strong and since I was driving, I limited my Bloody Mary to just 1, but that was the BEST BM I have had in years. My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant yesterday. We had plans to shop around the mall so I made a reservation for lunch time because we knew it'd be a wait for a walk-in. Our reservation was for 1:15 and we weren't seated until 1:30 - the hostess even seated walk-ins prior to seating us as we were waiting outside of the restaurant. It also took a while for our drinks and table set up to come. A set of utensils and one of our plates was dirty. Our server was very nice and attentive though. We ordered the chicken and donuts, and the traditional eggs benedict. The chicken and donuts were delicious, but the eggs benedict was not good - not enough hollandaise sauce and the eggs were overcooked so the yolk was not runny. The side potatoes were good though. Maybe it was just when and what we ordered but I wasn't wowed by the experience. We had asked for a table of 4 for our family. Two adults and two kids. I'm not sure if it's the age of our youngest but we were treated on a few occasions like only one kid was present (1 kids menu, 1 kids water, general lack of acknowledgment), even after the youngest was eating in her high chair also. What happened to Great Maple? We used to come here regularly. We stopped by for dinner and it was such a disappointment. Horrible service! Took 40 mins to get our food (just a burger and pasta dish). Our server never checked back to at least let us know when to expect the food and acknowledge the delay... while we were starving the food finally came, dropped off quickly by someone else. The pasta was very bland, we needed salt, pepper, and some Parmesan cheese to give some flavor to the pasta. Our server didn't come again to check in. After waiting another 12 minutes my husband went inside to grab someone to get salt/pepper. His food had gotten cold by then. Finally our server stopped by once we were half way done with our food to ask us if we needed anything. My husband shared his frustration that we needed things but she never checked in so we had to go grab things ourselves. She blamed their chef for now showing up on time and causing the delay in serving the food (ok, you still couldn't come to acknowledge us waiting for 40 minutes after getting our order?) Our food was done and after waiting more we waived at her again to get the bill. As we were signing the bill we noticed there was a $2 extra charge for miscellaneous food. My husband asked and she said it was for the small (1 teaspoon) Parmesan cheese they had given us. She immediately added she will take it off and had already flagged that to her manager. Why wouldn't she take it off before bringing the bill? So we waited and waited... never came back... we were furious on how much time we had wasted just waiting for her to show up at our table... so we signed the original bill that was left as it was and left. The bread was really good too. It must have been grilled as I can taste the deliciousness of that grilled bread, and probably butter too. The sandwich/ chicken has the honey aioli which added that nice sweet taste with a kick, but not overpowering. The truffle fries were a good portion and really yummy ! It was worth the additional $5. For drinks I had the iced tea. My only complain is that it has waaaay too much ice. My glass is probably 90% ice and 20% tea. We sat at the patio area. It was a nice day, but starting to get chilly. It was still better, in my opinion, than being inside as you can see the shoppers going around. And there is a fountain outside too that you can see from the patio. This place is great for gathering or just hang out on a Sunday for a brunch. Their location in Pasadena, sadly closed down. Finally got to try their other location in Newport Beach. They have outdoor patio, it's great outdoor sitting on a nice day. It does get crowded though. They do take reservation. But they did have few tables available for us as we just did a walk-in. They're familiar with gluten and dairy allergies. I got their Taco Chicken Salad - minus the cheese and the tortilla chips. The waitress was attentive and checking in once a while.
