Good diner fare. The owners use to own Haven Diner back in the day in Port Washington and they've always been very pleasant to us. This establishment is much better for them (decor and traffic-wise). Definitely a great breakfast or lunch spot in Great Neck, but parking is a headache in this town if you're with someone that can't walk from the municipal lot. If you don't have that issue, just park in the muni lot and walk across the street for sure. The tuna salad and greek omelet are my favorites. The Great Neck Diner has been a staple in my college career for the last 4 years so its only fair I finally write a review! The atmosphere here is great, very warm and family friendly! The service is attentive. The food is out of this world! The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. The Russian panini is beyond amazing, the pastrami paired with the onions and dressing is a heavenly combination. In addition I highly recommend the chicken pesto panini and the Philly Cheesesteak as well as the strawberry milkshake. The portions are great. We order from great neck diner from time to time for lunch. Their breakfast choices - omelettes, pancakes, French toast, are done right, meaning what you expect from a typical, solid, NY diner. I've also had veggie burger which was meh. I've had several different soups from here. All bad except for motzah ball soup. Greek salad was OK. About average I'd say. We love this little neighborhood gem. Deliveries are on time by a smiling delivery man. What you Order is what you get. Delicious high quality burger cooked to perfection with excellent trimmings. Good solid diner! My brother and I always look an an excuse to come here when we run errands in the area. Best corned beef hash I've had ANYWHERE! The owners daughter came out once and was telling me the process of how they make their own corned beef just for this dish. The tables outside are dog friendly. We've brought our 55 lb white lab with us multiple times and the waiters often bring him a little tray with water. The only reason this isnt a 5 star review is because although the waitstaff is kind and polite, it can take a while for the food to come. read more

This diner literally and figuratively delivers to my office. We order from here on average of 3 times a week and the food is always excellent. Everything from their salads, tuna, chicken salad, soups, omelets and turkey sausage. We've never had a single complaint. The spinach pie is delicious, the fresh turkey is incredible as well as the brisket. We've pretty much tried everything on the menu. The order is typically delivered within a half an hour, which is record time for most lunch orders in great neck. Just going through the motions. Everything was blah on very basic brunch fare. Eggs Benedict was on a cold, non toasted English muffin, and while I am not sure if the muffin is typically toasted, this just was not good. It is cute spot and great location. Last Sunday we came here for the third time. This is where we having been taking my husband's mother for lunch. The service is very kind. My mother in law is somewhat frail and needs to be treated with care and respect. The food is fine. I just don't know why they use packets of mayo. However, they have fabulous french fries. Went with my mother-in-law and infant son. Did not have to wait at all for a table and a high chair was brought over promptly. Within one minute of sitting down - not an exaggeration - FOUR DIFFERENT SERVERS came over, asked what we wanted to drink, and brought us menus (we had to hold up the menus at the table already to avoid being given additional menus). Within the next five minutes, the same FOUR DIFFERENT SERVERS tried to take our order. Finally I had to say "WE NEED A FEW MINUTES. PLEASE." It was intense. I ordered a turkey wrap and asked for added avocado. I wasn't charged for any which is good because it looks like someone said the word "avocado" while making my wrap - barely any was there. Love love this diner. My wife and I probably eat here 2-3 times a week, including weekend breakfasts and dinner. The staff is so nice they make you feel like you've been going for years. Service was okay, not too accommodating, a bit slow. Good specials, they publicize those a lot. The interior is boring, but it's a diner. The food isn't good at all. I had ordered a gyro here with diner standards. The pita bread tasted packaged, not fresh gyro meat. The matzoh ball soup is decent. Their pasta dishes are just average. nothing special. Sandwiches, like the chicken parm sandwich, not good. Soggy bread, weird taste. GND is better than most because its run like a family business. The owners are always around making sure customers are happy. That means a lot to me. THeir Greek twist on the menu is quite tasty too! These guys are absolute pros. This place was able to accommodate a post-wedding breakfast of 21 people without a single hitch on an already busy Saturday morning. All 21 orders came out exactly as we wanted pretty quickly, and they kept the coffee coming the entire time. We were treated so exceptionally well, that I hated having to throw that on them this morning. Im begging you, please please please learn to make a souvlaki the way it should be made or at least close to. It is absolutely ridiculous what you do now. This oily cooked mix of veggies is very bad. Your tzadziki sauce... Dear god. It tastes like butter or sour cream- no flavor at all. Fire your chef, do the right thing! Chicken souvlaki is a disaster.
