I love this place! My husband and I come here to grab a quick lunch. At lunch time, this place is usually quite busy, but they are fairly quick! They seem to have the process down! There's a good mix of people who eat in and who take food to go. Seating can be hard to find because there aren't all that many tables in the small space. The ordering took a little longer today, but not bad. We shared the Super Steak Cheesesteak with Jalapenos, Great Fries, and a drink. Total cost for this shared lunch was $11.83. The food came out piping hot and fresh! The sandwich, for some reason, was quite juicy today and was dripping out onto the tray. Almost could have been a dipped sandwich because the bottom side got soggy! For a quick lunch, this is a good place to go! The super steak has a lot of meat in it. Ever since Del Amo Steakhouse closed, I've been looking for a comparable cheesesteak sandwich. I came across Great Steak and Potato and decided to give it a try. Food: - Super Steak Cheesesteak - Grilled with onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and provolone cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. When you order to go, they put the lettuce and tomatoes in a separate container so that they don't get warm. The flavor of the meat was decent, but the steak itself was chewy and not as tender as I would have liked. I think the other cheesesteaks would probably be pretty bland since they don't have as many ingredients as the Super Steak. - French Fries - Fries are good! A little soggy...but that's the way I like them! - Potato Skins - Fried potato skins topped with Philly Cheese, bacon, and sour cream. Not bad. The potato skin was nice and crispy, and they put a lot of toppings on the potato skins, which is a plus. Overall, wasn't exactly a blow-your-mind cheesesteak, but I'd be willing to give this place another chance if I happened to have a craving for a it. read more

I tried calling in an order at 7:00pm, no answer. I showed up at 7:15 and the staff stared at me and ignored me. Finally Katrina L. Slowly walks up to the counter with an attitude and asks me what I wanted. I ordered and she was extremely rude. I asked for a kind potato and she told me they don't have potatoes today. I guess I walked in when they were planning on closing up an hour before the place is scheduled to close. I only came here because my fiancé says this place is the best. Been coming to this place for years and it's been consistently tasty. I don't care for it's namesake (the Philly cheese steak) having spent time on the East coast I can say I've had better. What I do love are their loaded baked potatoes and King fries. Both are crazy good. If you are looking for something on the lower caloric level they also have a very good chicken salad with your choice of dressing. Every single time go to walmart, starbucks ( which is lot), subway, i am always thinking about trying this place soon. After years of saying that it finally happen, I made it to GREAT STEAK AND POTATO's!! The food was fast and delicious. The price was moderate. My brothers and i came here after a long hike in santa monica and in need of some grease to wake us up. I had a Delicious 7 inch Philly Cheese Pastrami sand wish and their king fires. OMG their fries are so tasty. the sour cream that came on top of it was so fluffy and just plain delicious. I usually hate sour cream but man o man was this sour cream delicious. not only that the fries where topped with bacon bits, chives, seasoned with i forgot wat ( yummy good ness i believe). I will definately will have to come back again and try their other yummy sandwishes. Oh by the way the place inside is slightly small, the seats seem to be way to close to each other i think i might have passed by to get to my chair and graced my buttocks unto someones head. I've driven past this place numerous times and always made a mental note to give it a try. I finally came for the first time last week with my boyfriend's sister. We stopped by at about 11am and we were the only ones in the place, which was great, since we were super hungry! We quickly placed our orders (two cheesesteaks and fries) and sat down at one of the tables. I was really surprised by how good the cheesesteak was! They are quite generous with all the ingredients in the sandwich and everything came out piping hot. (It was so hot, we couldn't even eat any of the items and ended up chatting while we waited for the food to cool down, haha.) We both got full and ended up taking our leftovers to work. The only reason why I deducted a star is because I feel like the place could be a little cleaner and service left a lot to be desired. There were a lot of sticky spots on the floor that didn't look like they were thoroughly scrubbed, so my sandals kept getting stuck, almost like I had stepped in gum. The employees weren't very friendly. I had to ask for a few things (my drink cup, ranch - which is .50 cents extra, might I add - and to-go boxes. I was repeatedly greeted by a gruff, annoyed response and didn't leave there feeling like a valued customer. But, all in all, food is most important and we both really enjoyed our meal. I love this place! The wait isn't too long and the customer service is so-so. What stands out is their sandwiches. My favorite is the chicken teriyaki. They now put the lettuce and tomatoes on the side, but it never makes it on my sandwich. I love this option because it was good with the veggies but is on a whole new level without. Why don't other sandwich places think of this? The veggie sandwich is good as well. So are the fries. You get a decent amount and they taste like potatoes. The baked potatoes and potato wedges are really good too. I don't think you can go wrong with potatoes, cheese and sour cream and it doesn't disappoint. For the price though I always get a sandwich. Speaking of price, this place is high. It's a couple of dollars more than Subway but from what I've tasted its worth it. I like how you can get unlimited refills. They have the standard drinks, nothing special. They do offer a good lemonade but it costs more and no refills. The last thing is the parking. You will be hard pressed to find a spot near lunchtime. The restaurant is tiny so it gets crowded real quick. The seating is close so it feels like you're eating at one big table. I like some space so I almost never eat in. Nothing will ever compare to Del Amo Steakhouse in my eyes, like ever. That considered this place was decent. I enjoyed the philly cheese steak I had and the fries were good too. The meat itself could use a little more seasoning if you ask me but it's not bad by any means. I didn't enjoy the menu set up, it is not "user" friendly. They have predetermined sandwiches that you can choose from and if you want to stray from that menu, it seems to annoy the cashiers, at least that is what happened in my case. The parking can also be a bit of a hassle, and the dining room area could be better cleaned and maintained. Overall I give this place a solid 3 stars, not bad and if I am in the area I would probably eat here again. read more

Great Steak is the best Philly Cheesesteak place in these streets. I grew up coming here since I was a kid. Now that I live in Whittier, I still drive an hour here just for some good eats. You can't find a good Philly Cheesteak place anymore since Charlie's Philly cheesesteaks became a thing in SoCal malls. They used to have a Great Steak in Carson mall, and that place was banging too before they closed it down. The quality of the food here at Great Steak is on point and you're guaranteed freshness. The portion size is pretty decent too. Beware of upgrading to a LRG fries for yourself because it's huge lol. The place could use a little remodel, but don't let that discourage you. You won't leave disappointed! I hope this place stays up and running for at least another 20 years. read more
