For whatever reason, I always associate these types of places with a mall food court or something like that. To see it in a strip mall outside of the norm, it is really weird. Despite that, this place has survived 10+ years here and they actually have some tasty cheesesteaks. If I could eat here everyday without keeling over, i would do it but alas, my age has caught up to me. I still loves me a philly though once in a blue moon. They have beef, turkey, and chicken in all forms and shapes. Very diverse menu actually. They come in 7" and 12" sizes. Their potatoes are actually pretty tasty. Their fries are a little thicker than normal which I love but not as thick as steak fries, which I love as well. No ketchup or sauce necessary at all. Yum. You can fax or call in your order ahead of time to ease the pain of waiting forever. They cook everything to order so it will take a while to get your food if you order on site. The business parks are really close by so i imagine they get a lot of weekday lunch business. A lot of small restaurants have popped up nearby (by Walmart and such) so I'm thinking they lost a lot of business just for a change of variety but they still have a good sandwich. I go back every so often to try and keep them alive but I hope they survive the bad economy. I've always said that a good sandwich lies in the bun. That being said, know that TGSP offers a soft and delicious roll with their sandwiches. Not to mention, their steak and chicken are always tasty and cooked to perfection. Fries? Thick and crunchy! BOMB! Don't get me twisted in that, this is no Big Mike's Hermosa. Fry up some potatoes, season with salt and melt some cheese on top. But these fries I do believe are laced with crack. We ordered a cheese steak sandwich each (his was bigger than mine of course) and we agreed they were very tasty. The only thing is if they were on a different type of bread it would have been better. I've eaten at plenty of the Great Steak and Potato chains, but the one in Torrance was most satisfying. If you want your sandwich or baked potatoes a certain way, they'll gladly do it for you. I recommend the baked potato with teriyaki chicken, cheese, jalepenos, sour cream, and grilled onions. The atmosphere is very relaxed and perfect for lunch breaks or a break from shopping. Turkey philly is our go-to sandwich here, comes with lettuce and tomato on the side (in the same box but separate from the sandwich which saves it from wilting). Turkey is flavorful and not dry. Fries are very good and serving is large, but as with any french fry, much better hot and fresh. King potato is tasty and big enough for 2 or more to share. I usually call about 10 mins ahead and food is ready and waiting when I get there! Good option for quick dinner pick up/take out on the way home from work. This place is ok for a beef sandwich when the mood hits. Their cheese and steak sandwich left me wanting however and didn't satisfy like a good Philly cheese and steak sandwich would for example. I've had much more plain looking cheese and steak sandwich taste better (and kept me going back for it) than this joint. I'm not sure what's missing from here, possibly the meat quality or flavoring I don't know. In my observation this is similar to the many food court foods, but that's not a bad thing. Just left the location on 190th St...... I ordered the Coney Island Fries (chili and cheese). Fries were under cooked, you can taste that the oil used was old. A can of Hormel chili has more flavor than the chili used on my fries. The cheese sauce was mediocre. Came here for lunch today and ordered the great steak and a regular drink from the cashier lady (latina on the thicker side). The total came out to $7.61 and she says $9.61. I saw her add $2.00 to my total for no reason. I gave her my card and she rang me up for $9.61 on the card machine. I looked my receipt which clearly shows $7.61 and says I gave her cash of $9.61. IF I DID give cash why would I give cash of $9.61 on a total of $7.61. Doesn't add up. Seems like she's trying to slip an extra $2.00 into her pocket. Stumbled on this gem on the way back from Mexico! We stopped to use the restroom and we discovered this place. We were greeted when we walked in, and we had the cashier's attention. The cashier recommended the steak sandwich, I ordered mine without onions and green peppers because I'm allergic. It came out perfectly as ordered. This sandwich was one of the best I have ever had. As a matter of fact I'm willing to drive there from Simi Valley. THE BREAD IS OFF THE HOOK!!!! I enjoyed every bit of my sandwich and my experience here was nothing less than 5 stars. I'm very surprised this place does not have more reviews than it does. Let me explain their bread to you. It is so incredibly soft and chewy, it never gets soggy, the bread stands up to piles of chicken, sauce, melted cheese, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. It is a unique flavor and I would not compare it to much to Philly cheesesteaks, totally different. Although I have only tried chicken here, I think I'm gonna see if they can live up to the same standard with their steak. The chicken is very tender and cut up just right, they cook it up right in front of you so definitely fresh. I always get the deluxe and the lettuce and tomato is on the side. I know, I know , it's a chain restaurant and there few "Philly" sandwich joint around but this place does a great job building a sandwich! We stopped by last Sunday and while it was busy the line moved fast and ordering was breeze. My bride had the 6" Original Philly Cheesesteak, grilled with onions & topped with Philly cheese ( I don't think it was Chez-Whiz or "Wit"!) but she enjoyed it and I the Gyro, Thin slices of gyro meat grilled with onions, topped with lettuce, tomato, Tsatziki sauce & wrapped in a Greek pita which was also very good, but messy. Listen the sandwich is good and fries are nothing special but good. I'm hesitant to go back though. I was there yesterday evening and the dining area was trashed. Did not look inviting at all. There was only one other costumer before me when I got there and there straw wrappers, used napkins and pieces of food were on tables and on the floor. I had to clean the table where my family and I sat. There were 2 cooks who were cleaning their area in the kitchen but the other guy who was the cashier was sitting on a counter behind the register with earphones on. The bread is very fresh and so is the lettuce which makes for a great sandwich. The meat is flavorful and they cook it right in front of you.
