maybe the worst food i have had in nyc. no idea how anya be gave this place good reviews. food looked nice on the plate but had no taste. scallops were absolutely the worst i've ever had. tasteless, undercooked, cold, shockingly bad. the rest was o.k.ish. cauliflower too sweet (drenched in honey), deep fried fish skin "rinds" were fishy and weird. all tastes very amateur. the service was good. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE - Manager Carlos should lose his job! I stay at Yotel every week for business travel and have eaten breakfast in Green Fig a few times, nothing special, but fine and uneventful. A friend and I stopped at the bar next to the roof deck Wednesday night and were basically verbally abused, embarrassed and asked to leave for no reason by Carlos, the Manager. We met a young couple sitting next to us at the bar, they had just got engaged a few hours prior so we purchased them a bottle of champagne and took a few pictures of the two of them. They wanted a pic of all of us so asked the bartender to take it. Carlos, the Manager, was behind the bar and took the pic instead of the bartender. When we looked at the pic my friend laughingly said "that's a terrible picture" (meaning of us, nothing to do with the picture taking talent of Carlos). Carlos lost his mind and said if we wanted a professional photo shoot we should have hired a pro and went on & on. We tried to tell him we were not talking about him at all and he asked us to leave the bar. We walked out into the lobby to sign our tabs at which point Carlos informed security that the bartender gave the young couple the wrong bottle of champagne so instead of $81.00, we owed $350.00 ... totally bogus. Security ended up speaking to the bartender who admitted it was a bar error, not ours. At that point Carlos told security that we used racial comments towards him ... also totally bogus. A few witnesses in the bar told us if we needed them to corroborate that never happened, they would be happy to do so. There's more to the story but it's so crazy and unbelievable that more I say, the more unbelievable it sounds but I assure you, it's the exact, unexaggerated truth. I travel often and I have NEVER written a bad review. I feel reviews are very subjective and based on one's opinion and any bad experience could be a fluke and not the norm so I refrain. But this situation needs to be documented and I hope the Managers of Green Fig see this and address it. Green Fig is inside the Yotel hotel but they are separate ownership and management - I've spoken to the Manager of Yotel about this issue but have not got a return call from management of Green Fig yet. read more

Only giving one star because I have to and because the food was pretty good. After our dinner, I ordered a tequila- $17. That's fine, it's New York. The busboy didn't clear the table so I had nowhere to put my drink. Asked the waitress to have him clear it- never did. Set my tequila next to me and a busboy walked by (not to clear our table apparently) and knocked it over. Asked for another- was told that I would have to pay- BY GEORGE THE MANAGER. He said that once the drink leaves the bartender it's my responsibility. My friend ordered a glass of wine, got up to use the restroom- a waiter took it. He never even had a sip. Same thing- he would have to pay to get another. His responsibility- says George THE MANAGER. Is this a scam?? When we argued that this was absurd- he called security. I've honestly never seen worse customer service in my entire life. GEORGE got so aggressive and heated when we told him that the policy was dumb (it is) he told my friend to go f himself. Wow. Never again. Literally the worst place I've ever been. George should be fired- he has no clue how to run a restaurant. He should be a prison guard- more to his level of class. read more

There is some talent here for sure! I felt like my plate was made specifically for me with multiple ingredients that just fit together so well! A lot of heart in the food created here, I can just taste it!!! You have to get the beef kabobs and market fish :) read more

The Green Fig serves very good Mediteranian fusion food. You actually can taste it in every bite. The service is professional and pleasant. The ambiance is nice and welcoming. Recommended! read more

My husband and I went to the green fig this morning. I am celiac so when i ordered breakfast I told the waiter that I couldn't have toast because I can't have gluten. The waiter brought me my plate of eggs, bacon and home fries. The home fries looked like they had something on it so I asked the waiter if they had gluten on them. Another waitress said yes so they took my plate away and brought me back two eggs and bacon. I asked them if I could get some fruit to make up for the toast and home fries. They said yes you can buy the $12 plate of fruit. I said no I don't want a big plate of fruit I just want a couple of berries or something because I don't have toast and home fries. Bottom line I had to order the $12 plate. I finally asked for the manager and explain the situation. He said he would educate his people. It was such an awful experience because for someone who Has food allergies it's embarrassing And to be told No you can't have anything extra on your plate because of your food limitations was hurtful. I just want to be treated like I mattered because I'm paying for the service. Won't be going back! read more

Stayed at the Yotel for 5 nights and ate at the Green Fig 4 of those nights. Our server, Daniel, was an absolute delight. He remembered our wine and preferences night to night and was the reason we went back - exemplary service. Food was fantastic as well- we tried most things on the menu and each dish was wonderful. Odd music choice (disco/techno with Mediterranean food) but, overall a truly wonderful experience. read more

The service here is horrible. No one knows how to pay attention to guests. Being located in a hotel, it is its own restaurant, so nothing can be charged for room service and they cannot make a delivery to any rooms in the hotel, despite the fact that their kitchen is an elevator ride away from hotel guests. This morning I ordered a fruit bowl and tea, specifically asking for honey and lemon. The person I spoke with said they would be included, but I still didn't get any honey or lemon, and the tea was served in a tiny cup, with a tea bag. They told me that's the only size they offer. When I reached to get my bag of food, the hostess thought I was trying to shake her hand, and was a bit shocked and awkward when I reached for my bag. I came in later that day, asking for a glass of water. I took a seat in a booth, and the hostess puts the water on the bar and says there's your water, even though I was sitting in a booth. I had to actually TELL HER and the waiter to bring the glass of water to me at my table. These people are in the service industry, and they really need to step it ALL UP. At dinner, I had to run up to my room to make a phone call, and told my waiter I would be back. When I got back everything was cleared away, including my half glass of wine. Please be aware this restaurant's service needs improvement. The managers/ owners need to train their staff on hospitality and how to be detail oriented. I've never seen such disassociated waiters in my life. They really need to shape up. I'm not one to write reviews either, but this restaurant really deserved it. read more

I normally don't write Yelp reviews, but I this time had to! Staying in Yotel was a decent experience. It was very well located, and had quite a lot to do nearby. However, eating at their restaurant was a whole different experience. Whenever you're in NYC you must hit up the Green Fig. You MUST ask for Imaz, whom I can hands down claim to be the best bartender I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He not only was attentive, but also remembered exactly my beverage of choice for the whole time I stayed in the hotel. Also, He was very honest and knew his way around the menu, recommending items that he knew were going to be of one's liking. Imaz is also, very entertaining and very engaging with everyone in the bar making sure everybody in the restaurant was having a great time. I enter that restaurant by myself, and left with a friend. Whenever I'm in NYC this is one place I will visit again. read more

Wow. I was blown away by this place. We were staying at Yotel a few nights ago and were too darn tired to walk anywhere else so we decided to give the Green Fig restaurant in the hotel a try. Absolutely outstanding! First off, our Waitress Monica is hands down one of the greatest waitresses I've ever come across in my life. She was extremely attentive, pleasant, smiley, and all around fabulous. I don't know where they found her! She came to the table and aside from the normal "Welcome to Green Fig My name is Yada yada yada" she also asked us where we were from and we told her we were from Missouri and she said she had been there and we immediately felt at home! She also asked if we had any allergies even before my husband had the chance to say yes, he was allergic to broccoli, and She told us she was too! What are the odds! Then she assured us she would make sure no broccoli came anywhere near our dishes which is nice to hear that your server cares so much about you. We then ordered the Spicey Whiskey cocktail (which I totally recommend, a fantastic winter cocktail), and a Yo-Jito (a Mojito with blackberries if I remember correctly). We asked Monica for recommendations and she had nothing but wonderful things to say about basically every item on the menu. You can just tell that she loves working here and is actually in love with the menu. We told her we were starving, so then we followed her advice/favorites and got the mezzo platter, the Israeli kebabs, the veal cheek, the branzino fish, and a duck confit with homemade pasta! The mezzo was this incredible giant bread that had olive oil and some blend of herbs and seasonings on top and they gave you an assortment of dipping sauces which were just SO GOOD! My favorite was the eggplant one. My husbands was the yogurt one I can't remember what it was called. The kebabs were amazing! Monica told us that the chef recommends trying everything on the plate in one bite, i.e. the kebab with the hummus and the veggies together so we did that and were pleasantly surprised how perfectly it all went together. The veal cheek was superb, nothing more to say there. The branzino was perfectly pan seared if I remember correctly, and I honestly am almost watering at the mouth right now wishing I could go back to order that branzino dish again. This chef seriously knows what he's doing. And finally, the duck confit pasta was my husbands favorite. It was a great blend of comfort food and fine dining if you ask me, with finely pulled duck and this sauce that I can't describe but would recommend to anyone, even picky eaters. I only wanted to write this long review now because my parents, who live in the city, asked about the hotel and I remembered I never wrote a review about my amazing experience! I told them they must go! I just hope Monica and the chef of Green Fig see this so they know their hard work is not going unnoticed.
