I'm an eater. I've had food prepared by celebrated chefs. I've eaten in the greasiest of spoons. There's not much that I won't eat. My lunch here ranks easily among the three worst meals I've ever had. Instant classic. I ordered pad thai noodles. They were too sweet. I mean bowl of frosted flakes sweet. I also ordered sushi. We ordered take out last night and they seem to have finally destroyed my favorite dish that remained from when this restaurant was Surin's Thai Bowl: the yellow lemon curry noodle bowl with chicken. I've become accustomed to having missing ingredients, but don't give me Thai coconut soup and call it a curry sauce. It was so bland, it couldn't disguise the burnt chicken and large-chopped lemongrass. They also left out an order of spring rolls. The pork gyoza was the only saving grace. What's up YELPERS! I visited this restaurant for the first time last night; and, I absolutely love it! The scene is calm yet energetic with indoor/outdoor dining. The hostess greets you promptly with your choice seating. The best part for me...extremely diverse menu which includes: Thai, Chinese, and Seafood from fried all the way to steamed. Stepped into this establishment during a visit to Atlanta. The place was recommend by a local since I was craving sushi. Nice ambiance with plenty of seating. My friend ordered the spring rolls and her cousin had the shrimp and crab ebi shumai for appetizers. Both seemed to enjoy. For my meal I had the dragon roll sans the tobiko. Delicious. The presentation was excellent and the flavor was awesome. My friend has the chicken and shrimp basil rice. She didn't feel the rice was spicy enough but enjoyed after adding the chili sauce. Her cousin enjoyed the sushi regular option. Again presentation looked great and he enjoyed. The only bad aspect of the visit was the lack of good customer service. For example, after bringing the entrees, we requested chopsticks. The server never brought them and we had to go to the bar and retrieve them ourselves. Like it or buy another meal! Don't let the fancy flat screens and facetious smiles fool you, there is no actual customer service. We were regulars at Amaryn's Thai Bowl and happy to see our favorite items on the Green Ginger menu, since they'd taken over the place. My Dad's Noodle Bowl had the same name as the one at Amaryn's with the same picture. But when it arrived, it was a completely different dish. Amaryn's had a thicker brown sauce, almost like a curry consistency, this dish was watery. He didn't touch it and explained to the waitress he got the wrong dish. She said the lunch portion Noodle Bowl was the one he was familiar with. This was the dinner portion but it was a different dish (with the same name) because the lunch size 'comes out of a can and the portions just don't work.' Okay.... So he tried it and said it tasted like noodles and chicken in water, completely bland. She wouldn't let him exchange it for another item. She said he'd have to purchase two meals because exchanging it would be a 'healthcode violation.' What?!? Why would he want to buy an additional meal when he didn't like the first one? As she gave us the bill, she said 'I'm sorry you didn't like your Noodle Bowl. Maybe you can try it again when you come back.' We won't be back. I wish I could give it no stars! read more

Green Ginger is one of several restaurants in that location that has for the last 15 or so years has had some sort of an Asian theme. We had tried Green Ginger about three years ago and left thoroughly disappointed so had not been back. It is close to home and It has outlasted many of the others so we decided to give it another chance. Our verdict is that tare some things to love about this restaurant but the food was better under a previous iteration. We had the Teryaki, the Panang and the coconut soup. I would give the food a three score but the service was wonderful from the hostess to our server so the overall score gets bumped to a four. read more

Ordered delivery from Green Ginger with minimal expectations. Getting sushi delivered is a hit-or-miss proposition, at best. Much to my (pleasant) surprise, the rolls were extremely fresh and extremely large. I got the edamame to start, which turned out to be ambitious. We were 2 handfuls into the app when GF said we should probably save room for the main course. Wow... The contrasting textures, the freshness of the fish, the heat of the wasabi came together in a flavor explosion. I'll definitely be trying more from Green Ginger. read more

Terrible customer service. Waitress was short, added auto gratuity to a bill for only two guests, and I caught her yelling at one of her coworkers as I was leaving the bathroom. Food quality is not worth the money. With so many options in Decatur, I won't be coming back here again. read more

We first went on a groupon and then for dinner...the food was good and the menu extensive. One option I love is the "make your own noodle bowl" - such a great open for the meat eaters and not. Service can be a bit slow even when it is not crowded but they have a few TVs and it is generally quiet so easy to make conversation. Recommend! read more

I'm only giving Green Ginger two stars because the food was decent tonight, however the quality of service outweighed food tonight. Used a Groupon tonight, it took nearly 40 minutes for our sashimi and sushi roll to arrive at our table. The table next to us arrived 15 minutes after we did and there food arrived before ours. If you eat a lot of sushi this place is just ok. While the sushi was decent ( not good but definitely edible), it was quite expensive for what it was. Also, I thought the service could be improved upon. Our dishes came out quite slow and the server wasn't around very much. My family had a $10 coupon from Savvy Decatur for Green Ginger. We arrived around 6:15 yesterday for dinner. The decor was great. We ordered an unimpressive and dry calamari, tasteless noodle bowl with lemongrass and overcooked chicken. The cashew chicken was decent. We ordered the green ginger roll and the fantastic roll which were pretty good. The service and the wait time was terrible. I may give this place another chance just not anytime soon. Me and my wife went to the restaurant for the first time on Saturday, it was our date night and we wanted to try a new sushi spot. When we entered we asked the server could we eat outside because it was really nice out, she said the outside was reserved for a party. Than the server sat us at a 2 top which was extremely small and close to the couple next to us. I asked the server could we move to a booth and she said yes and went back to the host station. When she came back she said those are saved for three people or more. So now we were frustrated that we couldn't sit anywhere but at the small two top and so we told our server never mind and we left. I will never return to this restaurant because they wanted to get he money for a customer in a group three or more instead of saving a customer that was already in the restaurant. read more

Good food, but poor service. The food tastes good, but I don't plan to eat there again unless I have a ton of time and am not that hungry since it takes a very long time to get your food. Appetizer took forever, and it came out too close to receiving the entrees. Wait staff very unprofessional, slow, and confused. Did not offer to get us high chair/boosters for our kids. The food is just OK, but for the price, I would not recommended going here for just OK food. I have ordered delivery from them a few times for the convenience, but stopped after they consistently got our order wrong. I have dined in a few times, but the last two times our service was awful. Both times I was there with my six year old son who asked to go here for the sweet and sour chicken. The male waiter was slow and rude. The last straw was yesterday when I took my son there for lunch. The hostess was very sweet and sat us right away. We sat there for quite a while and no one greeted us. Several servers walked by, but none acknowledged us. I can't say for sure how long we waited, but it was way too long, so we walked out. I am sad to post this review because I have been a big fan of this restaurant until tonight.... While I have had good sushi here in the past, three of the four rolls we ordered tonight were not edible. The eel roll was full of bones, the avocado was rotten in the bagel roll and the tuna had seen Vetter days (see photo). I called the restaurant to let them know that I felt as if the food was inedible and asked for a refund on the three rolls that we didn't eat. All restaurants have an off night and I would have been happy with this resolution, but the manager basically told me that I didn't know what I was talking about and that the best he could do was a refund on one roll. Sadly, this whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended) and I won't be back. read more

I went here last night with my parents. It was our first time here. The atmosphere is very nice. We opted for indoor seating since we don't enjoy the outdoors. It was a rainy night, and the outdoor seating was well lit and covered. We each ordered something different. Our server was very nice and patient throughout our meal. My parents ordered items from the Chinese and Thai sections of the menu, and I chose to try the Heaven Roll. My parents loved their meals. I, on the other hand, wasn't a big fan of mine. I don't eat a lot, so one roll is enough to fill me up. I got the heaven roll because the mango in it appealed to me. It was beautifully presented when it arrived at our table, but the pieces were not cut evenly and most were to large to fit into my mouth. The roll was alright. The first flavor you taste is cream cheese and it is overpowering. I could barely taste the imitation crab, and the texture was completely creamy due to the large amount of cream cheese placed on top of the roll. I would come again, but I wouldn't order the heaven roll again. read more

Tried this place for the first time tonight. Got takeout, ordered beef on both entrees and got chicken (didn't realize until we got back to our apartment). Also the person packing our food told me he put extra spring rolls in, so I have him a $5 tip. Got home and yeah, no extra spring rolls. I was a frequent customer of Amaryns Thai Bowl, so I was excited to see that Green Ginger was open for business. My husband and I went there for dinner last night. The place looks nice, but that's about the only good thing about it We ordered basil rolls to share, my husband ordered mussaman curry and unsweet tea, and I ordered the spicy basil rice, water, and hot tea. -I had to ask for water three times before I actually got any. -My husband was given sweet tea instead of unsweet -Our basil rolls had brown lettuce and no shrimp in them -My spicy basil was missing the chicken patties and fried egg (so basically just veggies and rice) All of that would normally be forgivable, but the service was so painfully slow. Forty minutes passed between when they took our food away and when we were finally able to pay our bill, despite multiple requests for the bill from our waiter, the hostess and a manager. The couple at the table next to us sat for twenty minutes without so much as having their drink order taken. They eventually just walked out. At least they have a scoutmob right now, so our dinner was fairly cheap, but we will NOT be going back. Oh, and my favorite part! When I used the scoutmob, the waiter tried to take my phone into the kitchen so he could show it to a manager. I had to argue with him to get the manager to come to my table. read more

The build your own noodles: red curry & coconut milk flat noodles w/cilantro & carrots were so good, I need a barrel to move out of here. IM BEGGING ANOTHER THAI RESTAURANT TO MOVE INTO DOWNTOWN DECATUR... Green gingers customer service is terrible. The last 3 times I've ordered delivery they have either double charged my credit card, brought sushi with no chop sticks or appetizers with no dipping sauce or soy sauce, and taken well over an hour to deliver. The worst part is their food is way over priced for the quality, the only reason I ever order from them is because no other Thai restaurant in this area delivers. Food is mediocre at best. read more

Server seemed surprised that we were seated without menus. She proceeded to bring 4 menus for 7 people. Then returned 10 minutes later with 3 more. We requested that the kids appetizer meals be brought with the food-they were not. The server said they were out of lemonade-she then did not know what simple syrup was when I requested it and lemons to make lemonade for the kids. They food did not arrive for another 30 minutes. My Teriyaki sauce and broccoli were burned. My son's sweet and sour chicken had a scary taste bad sauce on it.
