POOR Customer Service!! @Green Street Restaurant Pasadena As we entered the front door of the restaurant one hour before closing, there was a host at the reception podium and he asked how many in our party I advised "two" and we were hoping for a bit of a cozy or somewhat out of the center of the room table as this was a drop in to try this establishment for our anniversary dinner. Tables/booths were cleared at both ends of the dining room in preparation for closing as is understandable and only center of the room was left available with a number of customers clustered together that condensed the dining room. While I completely understand the need to trim tables and booths out to begin the closing process, the hist was in a non-negotiable and matter of fact "we're closing and cannot accommodate a table or booth. No apology or understanding for the situation and he made the decision to seat my wife and I in a window seat near a loud and busy table then left in a rush to attend to what appeared to be his closing duties. With an hour left on the clock and the inflexibility demonstrated by your employee, it became clear his closing duties far outweighed the opportunity to serve us and make a lasting positive impression. He single handedly confirmed the opposite and I asked for the floor manager and explained the situation. He apologized however did not make any gesture or comment on how he might keep our business or accommodate us with a simple table just off the main floor. I advised the floor manager, we would be leaving and would identify an accommodating restaurant. No words were expressed as I walked to the door and left the Green Street Restaurant with disappointment and surprise. Unfortunate your team cannot or does not have the skill set to save a customer or accommodate such a small ask for service. Our fine dining experience went to an establishment on the same street which we will revisit . Your best business and your best revenue customers are your return customers. Your establishment has lost that opportunity with us and I would suspect others. If it is ok to let good business walk, customer service and opportunity to make money is not your forte ! read more

Enjoyable first time dinner here. Had the Steven Sandwich and upgraded to get the salad on the side. It came with zucchini nut bread and I ordered hot tea (mighty leaf Marrakesh mint). Portions were excellent (took half home) and everything was very tasty. It's what I had expected and wanted so . The service was great and we were taken care of with frequent check backs. Had lunch with my girlfriend yesterday... it was so perfect. We arrived just around noon, the patio was packed. We entered the comfortable restaurant snd was seated next to the glass doors, but in air conditioning. Easy order, we shared the Dianne since I'd heard it's a classic for them. It does not look like the kind of Chinese chicken salad I'm used to because the lettuce was cut so small. It was crunch and tasty and not overly dressed. The crispy mai fun, slivered almonds and chicken were nicely proportioned. Since I've order was so huge, we easily shared the single order. We both had seconds and we're so satisfied. Generally speaking the food is decent, but their salads are the highlight of the restaurant. They are the inspiration of the Pasadena salad featured at Trader Joe's...of course this place gets five stars...just for that. But of course their zuchinni bread is also worth mentioning. Amazing Food & Even Better People! Had an awesome time at Green Street Cafe. I got the beef steak kebab plate, and it was perfectly cooked--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. My girlfriend went with the chicken and lula plate, and she loved it. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and the portions were more than generous. What really made the experience special were the owners. They were so friendly and welcoming, it felt like we were eating at a friend's place. Everybody's food was excellent. The service was quick and efficient, not too overly friendly. Definitely not a friendly front staff, though. They answer the questions, but they were not very welcoming. Our food was great though we would definitely come back for food. They've been here a long time and that's the reason why. My order was the Thai chicken salad--phenomenal. I'd get that everytime to share with the table but there's so many things to try we had difficulty choosing. The only lacking dish was the Stephen sandwich. If they used grilled red onions it would help. Go for the food! Get plates to share and enjoy. Side tip, They don't validate, so don't ask. I really like the Diane salad and zucchini bread but after trying entrees off their catering menu the other dishes were not very memorable. Selecting from the feed your family catering options we choose the salad and pasta, chicken and salad and side meatballs. The Southwest pasta was very bland and needed salt. While the gaucho chicken taste and rub were good the middle was a bit dry and slightly overcooked. The meatballs from the small bite menu were okay but not overly tasty. Outside of the Diane salad and zucchini, I would not re-order those dishes. read more

Hmmm I'm still confused about our dinner last night. I booked via OpenTable -where Green Street has much higher reviews..I should've cross checked with Yelp! I selected here as my bday dinner spot with a couple friends & I'm embarrassed that I did. Green Street exudes cafeteria vibes; the extremely bright lighting, average patron age & for the kicker, we were rushed into ordering immediately after we sat for our 7:30 dinner because they were closing! WHAT. Last call before 8pm on a Friday night !?! On to the food.. The poblano queso dip sloshed when it was placed on our table - the texture was runny & SO much was served. This was probably 8 cups of cheese & a huge mound of chips serviced approximately 3 minutes before our entrees. Our server didn't crack a smile or refill waters without an ask. The food was decent but not what we were expecting (it's great for cafeteria food!) The salads are massive .. actually too big- wasteful. I had the salmon cob & ate half (I'm a big eater) my friends both had steak salads & looked as though they ate as much as I did. The queso & chips were enough to give 5 people a heart attack. Haven't been here in awhile. I've been vegetarian - got here and it was busy. Which is fine, we had a reservation. Took a long time to even get water to drink, again fine. My kids ordered burgers and I got a VEGGIE burger and asked for a side salad with the Diane dressing.. server said ok. I get the salad and it's the actual Dianne salad with chicken. As a side to my VEGGIE burger. I politely let the server know, if someone's ordering a veggie burger they probably don't want meat in the salad and she should clarify - what is meant for the order?? (In her defense, it was loud and she probably didn't hear me when I asked for the DRESSING- ) I'd also like to say the server did offer to remake the salad, but at the point it had already taken 40ish minutes to get our means and another 25 before anyone asked if we were ok.. at that point we just wanted the check to leave read more

This place is legendary and absolutely worth the reputation. I look forward to seeing them back to full capacity now but they are doing a great job with socially distant outside dining including heaters. Literally anything you order at Green Street is going to be delicious. I'm torn. The Diane salad was so overrated and overpriced for what you get. It had way too much pepper, wilted lettuce and overcooked chicken. The rice noodles were stale. The apple goat cheese flat bread was delicious and a must try and their complimentary zucchini bread was tasty! Nice ambiance outside if you don't mind a lot of traffic noise and car alarms. They brought us complimentary zucchini bread that was delicious. The flatbread was amazing. I had the chipotle shrimp flatbread with mango delicious. The apple and goat cheese flatbread was like a dessert in its sweetness. Salads are enormous...get the lunch size and trust me it is still enormous. Chips are huge but need salt. First time here. Made a reservation for 6:15. Took about 8 minutes for our waiter to stop by. Asked if we wanted drinks and we ordered our drinks. Without saying anything else he just walked away. We were ready to order but wasn't given the option to go ahead and order. No biggie, just a pet peeve of mine. The waiter came back a few minutes later with one of the drinks and said the other would be coming shortly. I saw my drinking sitting ready at the bar. It sat there for about 5 minutes before it was brought to the table. The drinks were very weak. Just tasted like mixer. I ordered the Long Island Iced Tea, which I usually get a buzz from. This drink did absolutely nothing. They brought the Zucchini Bread soon after. It was good. I was pleasantly surprised. Not too moist or too dry or too sweet. It was just the right amount of flavor all around. I ordered the famous Dianna Salad. It was good. Not great, but good. A decent choice. Just your regular Chinese chicken salad. Huge portion. There was a slightly off taste. Almost like there was an ingredients that was slightly spoiled. Overall it was okay. I won't be rushing to go back for sure. Cute spot with outdoor seating. Parking can be a pain but there is a parking structure nearby, you do have to pay. Went with the Diane salad since it was a "popular" choice, it was so delicious! I opted for the lunch portion and let me tell you, it was HUGE! I couldn't even finish 1/3 of it. There was chopped chicken and sesame seeds in every bite, just the perfect amount of dressing tossed in. Very light and scrumptious.
