    Bug in Green Street Salad
    Stan G.

BARF! We ordered the Diane Salad and the Arroyo salad to go, got 1/2 way through my salad and there was a BUG in it. I almost ate it because it looked like a black bean. It was some sort of black beetle. Whatever it was it was GROSS. It's sad because we used to go to Green Street like 10 years ago and thought we'd try it again. Needless to say, this will be my last trip to Green Street. No one wants to find a bug in their half eaten salad. Sad.

4/6/26 This has been a place I have been coming since I was a kid with my Parents and & Grandma and Grandpa. They know us very well. The service was great , Armando A was our server and he was excellent. We sat outside on a beautiful sunny Cali day. It was so nice out . Everyone enjoyed their food . I had a Bloody Mary to start which was delicious. I had the Stephen's chicken sandwich no mushrooms for me but was delicious. We had a good time with my Mom & Dad . Great outdoor atmosphere, very chill place , great food . Will be back again I'm sure next visit. Enjoy !!!!

Big, spacious restaurant with lots of indoor seating. Make sure you make reservations, it gets busy on the weekend. Their famous zucchini bread was so good, not too sweet, moist & even better with butter. Their most famous dish is the steak & diane salad. I got it medium rare, tasted good even without sauce & the diane salad never disappoints. My husband enjoyed his all American burger with fries & my kids enjoyed the shrimp pasta & chicken pasta. All the dishes had generous portions, we were very full. You can park for free on Shoppers Lane/Cordova behind Jamba/Panda/Chipotle.

Food was delicious and they gave us plenty. Service was great, although it was a big group, our server made sure we're taken care of. The ambiance was nice and clean.

I came to GSR with two colleagues and we had a wonderful time. We made a reservation in advance for lunchtime and were quickly seated upon arrival. The salads here are huge! We each got a salad and def couldn't finish them. I got the Cornucopia without blue cheese and thought it was excellent. However, my friend got the Dianne and I have to admit that was much tastier! Again, the salad portions are huge so be prepared to take some home or, better yet, share it with a friend. The zucchini bread is also very good. It's dense but moist. It comes w butter but I think it's great on its own without butter. I hope to come back again to try something else! My friends love the breakfast menu so maybe I'll try that next time. There is parking in the paid garage attached to the restaurant.

This was my second time visiting Green St. In six years. Both times we sat outside on busy Shoppers Ln. with mature planter box plants sheltering us from the street. While the Diane Salad was pretty much lettuce, almonds, sesame seeds, chicken, and fried/puffed rice noodles, it was all brought together with their Diane Salad, salad dressing. $22.50 for a large, which in 3 days you will never be able to finish so don't order that huge amount. Server very nice but never came back to check on us.

Great service, hearty breakfast and a nice indoor/outdoor seating area. I stopped by this spot for an early morning meeting after I finished my workout across the street. The food was pretty good and the coffee was decent. There isn't a lot of variety here with most breakfast having the same things but the lunch and dinner menu had more to offer. Each breakfast comes with a zucchini bread instead of traditional toast but don't fret you can substitute it for toast if you wish. I had enough food leftover for another breakfast so come hungry!

Came here for mother day and order the pork chops and it was so good. Me and my family shared the Diane chicken salad and order their famous walnut bread. I highly recommend this pace.

Get the cornucopia salad with Dianne dressing instead (I'm a fan of dressing on the side)! The zucchini bread is unreal. I cannot believe how good it is every time. It's very fresh and the veggies are nice and crisp mmmm! Staff is always kind and helpful. Someone other than your waiter will come fill up your glass of water - attentive, I like it! It's a nice, quiet and calming environment. It's perfect for a family dinner, a catch up meal with a friend, or a date night! The outdoor seating is perfect. The prices seem a little high for a salad but they are GIANT and with the side of the zucchini bread, it's worth it.

Came here when visiting with a recommendation from family. The place has a great patio with lots of umbrellas/shaded options. Wonderful and attentive service. The Dianne salad was super tasty, would highly recommend. It's a very large portion, I was happy we got the lunch size. The salad comes with two slices of absolutely delicious zucchini bread! I took one slice home and it kept well. The adjacent parking garage machine was a little tricky, but you can also pay when you exit.

Breakfast in Pasadena, California... I found out about Green Street Restaurant from my friend, Regis K. He makes food look so delicious from his photos! I just had to have that famous Dianne Salad! Armando was the sole worker. He let me choose my seat in the bright, elegant environment; he took my order; and brought my meal, and later, my bill to me. He paid attention to every customer that morning! When i walked in, I actually told Armando that I wanted a Dianne Salad. He asked me if I wanted a full order or a half. I got a half and wasn't able to finish it - maybe because it came with three complimentary slices of fantastic zucchini bread! The Dianne Salad is light and refreshing. It has high quality sliced chicken, toasted slivered almonds, sesame seeds, bean thread noodles, and a sweet-tangy dressing. The portion was so large that I took the remainder "to go" and enjoyed it as a yummy midnight snack. Thanks, Regis, for sharing this treasure!

Kale Dianne (really rice noodles with a kale garnish)
    Matt J.

I was so excited to return to Green Street after four years had passed since my last Pasadena trip. Unfortunately the quality of the Kale Diane, a version of their signature salad, has dropped significantly. Not only was it woefully underdressed, but the solid ratio of greens to rice noodles was warped in favor of the latter. It's not super obvious in the photo but below the top layer there is only an abundance of the noodles with hardly any kale to speak of. Additionally, the rough stems of the kale are left in, adding to to the over-crunchiness of the dish. It is an immense amount of food that felt like a chore to get through. I am grateful they're willing to omit the chicken to make it vegetarian but they brought out a version with chicken at first and had to make me a new one after I pointed out the mistake. With a little extra dressing, it's still solid, but not a destination if you're only in the area for a day. I strongly recommend they review the ratios and make it a salad with noodles instead of noodles with a kale garnish.

Ask the Community - Green Street Restaurant

Until what time is breakfast served?

    I believe 2pm

How do I order a Diane salad for A group?

Excellent choice! You can call them up for a pickup order. The salad comes with a few slices of the zucchini bread. Best to compliment the order with a full loaf. Hope I answered your question.

Does Green St still make a Stephen's omelette?

One of our top selling sandwiches is the Stephen Sandwich (Chicken breast/sauteed mushrooms/onions/avocado/sour cream/cheese on grilled sourdough). We don’t serve a Stephens Omelette but since we have all the ingredients one could order a custom…

Do they sell just the zucchini bread? Can I just walk in and pick up or do I need to order in advance?

I've walked in and made my order. I've ordered a beer and sat at the bar while I wait for my order. They also have a small shop where you can pick up a loaf of zucchini bread, take some beer to go or evet a shirt.

    Is there parking nearby?

Yes, a covered parking lot for all restaurants in the same area. No validations though.

Do they do bottomless mimosas for brunch?

We serve a great Mimosa but they are not bottomless.

    Is there curbside pick up?

Technically no from my recollection; however if there are openings alongside the front, you can parallel park along the curb and call them asking really cordially/nicely I think they will deliver to your car - as a parent with multiple kids it helps…

Do they take lunch reservations? Is there outdoor seating?

I can't answer if they take lunch reservations, but there is an outdoor protected area in front of the restaurant.

    Do you take dinner reservations?

    they do take reservations

What time do you open on Friday right now? I'm looking for a local (Pasadena) spot for a 1:1 breakfast meeting at 9:30am with a community partner.

Thanks for your inquiring. Unfortunately we don't open until 11:00 during the week (Monday-Friday). We open at 10:00 on Saturday & Sunday.

    Can I make reservations?

    Yes

Is there still outdoor seating at this restaurant?

No, outdoor seating is closed everywhere.

Do they allow pets in the patio?

Unfortunately, they do not allow pets in the patio.

How much is a whole loaf of zucchini bread to go?

I think $8 or $9...and worth every penny!

I was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming staff and warm ambiance. Going to slide one complaint in here, the noise level in the upstairs portion of the restaurant is LOUD. We sat upstairs and it was pretty difficult to hear my friends talk from just across the table. We powered through, and by the second half of our meal, most diners had finished and left us upstairs with only a couple of lingering parties. THEN this place became GREAT! Here's all that we stuffed ourselves with during the cacophony of chatter: flaky buttermilk biscuits, honey butter (3pc; please allow 20 minutes) - totally worth the 20 mins!! Super buttery and flaky, I might go back JUST FOR THIS! crispy calamari, horseradish cocktail sauce - great little kick in the sauce. Perfectly lightly battered. fideos, clams, chorizo, saffron, sweet sherry aïoli - mmmm, this was delicious. The Spanish chorizo enhanced the broth with a good saltiness. white shrimp from the griddle, aïoli - this was my favorite. The shrimp was not overcooked and peeled easily. The flavor was good enough to slurp the juices out. single burger, prime chuck, tillamook cheddar, dijonaise, egg brioche bun & crispy french fries - good meaty burger, love the dijonaise, GREAT shoestring fries. Parking is a little challenging during the day, not so bad in the evening. It's South Pas, a little neighborhood walk after dinner never hurts.

Food here is very safe, trite, hackneyed California cuisine beaten to death like a worn out horse. It's not really bad and not very good offending no one, but food that is boring and not particularly drop dead flavourful. I wasn't super hungry and decided to order more of the sides. 1) French Fries with some skin on, looking rustic, had a touch of that ineffable earthy potato flavour. Asked for extra crispy, but just got a bit crispy so their default fries must be rather limp. Standard ketchup in a steel ramekin. 2) Roasted Golden Beet & Arrugula Salad had sweet, softer, smooth texture, Arrugula had a fibrous, good green herbal, peanut oil scented flavour. Not too funky, creamy goat cheese. Roasted walnut halves. All napped with a subtle Champagne Vinaigrette. Portion was about half of what would be expected in other comparable restaurants. 3) Bread Pudding: The bread was spongy, moist, eggy almost like a flan but lacked a deeper dairy, milkiness as well as lack of hints of warm spices such as cinnamon, allspice, ginger, cloves. Bland would describe the general overall flavour. Topped with cream rich ice cream. Scattering of blueberry, blackberry, strawberry. At home, I drizzled on Grand Marnier for more citrus cognac aromatics. 1-3a) Iced Tea The food here seems to be the Midwest version of what California cuisine should be. Middle of the road, steady as she goes, don't rock the boat. Our waitress was efficient, helpful, thoughtful in a business-like manner which facilitated our group of 8. The male helper with a moustache and the inked hand was great at keeping our glasses topped off. 3 stars for a safe, not overly effusive food that does not offend. The outdoor optics holds the charm and strength of this restaurant.

(You can choose bottled or tap). Our server's name Jennifer was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We ordered the horseradish crusted salmon and the steak frites and our friends ordered the truffle mushroom tagliatelle and the filet mignon. We were all extremely happy and satisfied with our entrees. The portions are perfect. No doggy bags needed and no room for dessert. I really enjoyed the broccolini that accompanied my salmon--it was cooked just enough to retain a little crunch. The savory sauce on the salmon was subtle and complimentary to the flaky fish. We sat in the bar room of this restaurant that used to be a house. The patio looked lovely too, especially on a summer evening so maybe we'll choose that next time. Because you can bet there'll be a next time!

SERVICE: 10/10 A+ Excellent Service! Everyone was very friendly. Emily was our service for the first half followed by Danny and her team. Everyone was very PATIENT!!! That's so rare!!! Very professional. There was no signs of moodiness or exhaustion. Bravo to the hardworking staff!!! SEABASS: 10/10 Star of the show! The fish was cooked perfectly. It was soft on the inside and a pinch of joyful crunch on the outside. However, I did not like the mash potatoes because it had a very weird taste... PRIME RIB DIP: 8/10 Not bad. It reminded us of the HAT's pastrami sandwich... FILET MIGNON: 9/10 looks delicious! My party finished his plate... CLAM CHOWDER: 10/10 My mother in law said it was very good! ARTICHOKES: 7/10 Very dry. We had to replace it with another appetizer... SPINACH DIP: 9/10 Delicious!!! The dip's flavor and texture really stood out... AMBIANCE: 10/10 Nice and a bit dimmed ambiance. We sat at a circular table for a part of 6 on the first floor. It felt really nice and intimate and you can watch the game on the TV screen as well... They were warm (not hot) and it was difficult to get any meat off of them. I rarely ask for something to be sent back but especially for the price point here, these were not OK. We let them know that they were undercooked. The chokes were gone for a while and when they came back they were slightly better so we just made due and realized that they just weren't very good artichokes. Also, though the heart was good, the flavor of the leaves was not great and the dipping sauce was nothing special. They were covered with diced onions for some reason. When it's $21 for three halves, it was very disappointing.

For appetizer, we really enjoyed the Chicken Liver Mousse. The house-made seasonal jam is so good (we just had strawberry) and pairs really well with the mousse. For brunch, we got the Grass-fed Hangar Steak Breakfast Plate which is an elevated version of your typical breakfast staples. Amazing flavor and they cook the steak perfectly every time. We also tried one of their seasonal desserts and it is a must-have. I forgot the name, but it was a melon sorbet paired with fresh mangoes, coconut milk, and sago. Super unique and refreshing. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for an upscale restaurant with a casual feel. Service is amazing, especially if you have Kai. We look forward to visiting again soon to try their dinner menu.

I've heard some good things about this place and from other fellow yelpers friends, it must be…read moreworth it. Had a dinner reservation with some girlfriends celebrating two of their birthdays. The restaurant itself isn't too big but it does a pack a nice punch. Cute patio out front that takes some of the sidewalks and streets. Plenty of heat lamps which helped with the chilly nights. We got seated at one of the tables on the patios which was nice. Didn't really utilize inside area except for the restroom which it's quite cute in there. The rooms were pretty well decorated and executed. Nice bar area too. Like mentioned, we got seated on the patio and the heat lamps were great. Down to the menus, it's quite limited on dishes. Seemed like there were more shared plates versus the entrees. Drinks, it was fairly decent with their cocktails and wine. Service at the beginning was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly. We didn't order right away as we were still waiting for the last one to show. But did start off with some drinks. It didn't take that long for the first round which was nice. Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.

Come here for the drinks, vibes and brunch…read more Their breakfast options are better than their dinner service. I can't eat here for dinner as a vegetarian, they have little to no options. Would it kill them to add a veggie burger? Service is consistently awful. I've been here half a dozen times and I've never had good service. Drinks and water are never refilled unless I ask. It takes forever to get our order and once we do our server disappears. Seriously so bad. But I keep coming back for their good food.
